Gisele Bundchen ‘wishes Tom the best, but… the divorce was the right option’

Tom Brady’s football season has been pretty awful, from what I can tell (I don’t follow football). His season has been so bad that most football fans are constantly clowning him about how Gisele was the whole reason why he was successful for years. I’m a big fan of the “Gisele was a good witch who gave Tom a winning juju” conspiracy, honestly. Not only did Tom lose his wife and his good witch, he now has to watch as Gisele stops giving a f–k about him completely. Like, Gisele isn’t mourning their marriage at all. She wanted out, she got out quickly and she’s already moving on. It also looks like something is happening with Joaquim Valente, the jiu-jitsu instructor she’s been seen with a lot in recent months.

Gisele Bündchen remains close with jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente following her divorce from Tom Brady after 13 years of marriage. A source close to the supermodel, 42, tells PEOPLE that she and Valente share a tight bond, though they aren’t rushing into putting any type of romantic label on their relationship.

“Gisele adores and trusts [Joaquim] and has been spending a lot of time with him, but I don’t think it’s a traditional dating scenario,” the insider says. “They have a deep personal relationship, and he is a teacher to her and the kids. Whether or not it will ever become more than that rests on the table.”

The source adds that Bündchen loves Costa Rica — the spot where she and Valente have vacationed together on numerous occasions — and is keeping fit and active.

A second insider close to Bündchen notes that the star is “focused on her kids, her health and work,” adding, “She is happy and doing really well.”

“She had a wonderful Christmas in Brazil. It was the perfect trip. She feels excited and hopeful about the new year,” the source continues. “Last year was rough, but she is confident that things will just keep going up from here. She has no regrets. She wishes Tom the best, but is confident that the divorce was the right option.”

[From People]

LMAO. “She wishes Tom the best, but is confident that the divorce was the right option.” She makes Tom sound so pathetic. Like, every day away from Tom makes her understand that he’s a giant loser who chose football-in-his-40s over his wife, his children and his health. As for this new guy… I would assume that Joaquim is not a “boyfriend” per se, but a good friend and a solid, discreet rebound who is putting a spring in her step. She gets friendship and a dude who is crazy about her, and he gets to bang Gisele. Win-win.

Life looks pretty great for Gisele

  2. Mariana says:

“How Stella Got Her Groove Back.”

    Good for you, G!

  3. Gobo says:

This woman knows her worth. Good for her.

    • Startup Spouse says:

Never paid attention to her but damn, this is how it’s done. New guy is hot AF and probably 100x nicer, more humble, and thoughtful than TB. Go girl go!

    • Christine says:

Seriously. I have never been a Gisele fan, but I think I’m one now.

  4. Mcmmom says:

Good for her – this is exactly how I would hope every woman can feel after a divorce. Give your marriage everything you can so you don’t have any regrets, then when you’re done, be done.

I need to take a lesson from Gisele in other areas of my life. Look forward, not backward.

  5. Danbury says:

Never really was a fan of Gisele until this divorce. Now I can do nothing but cheer her on

    • CL says:

Same here! As far as her being a witch who made him a better player, the reality was she did everything for their family, enabling TB to focus solely on football. I will never hear his name again without immediately thinking “dumbass”.

      • Kebbie says:

Absolutely. She put it all into being a supportive wife and mom, and he took it for granted. His loss.

    • Kebbie says:

Lol I’m the same. I think I didn’t really care for her at all and now I love her.

  6. TheOriginalMia says:

Gisele is living her best life. She’s got her kids, her freedom, a new lover and work prospects.

    • Ang says:

      Plus she looks about 25!

      • Liz Version 700 says:

Aside from her general Bad A$$ energy which is amazing, she seems more relaxed and free. I think maybe life with Mr. Football wasn’t always as great as she tried to portray. Good for her for getting her life back! And agree with all of you Tom looks pitiful. I can’t forget him saying that he couldn’t find anything to do after he retired. All that money and 3 beautiful kids who have missed him for years and a wife and he couldn’t find anything to do….

  7. Lolo86lf says:

Although I am glad to see Gisele moving on from Tom Brady, dating and possibly being intimate with a younger man is not going to end well for her. Just look at Shakira and Gerard Piqué! Dude is 10 years younger and the level of maturity she needs in a man can’t be there. Remember that a 34 year old male is like 27 year old in the mind and he is light years away in net worth from her.

    • OriginalLeigh says:

You’re assuming that she’s looking for a long term relationship, like Shakira had with Gerard. After everything she’s been through with Tom, it’s possible that she’s just wants to have a good time and a hot younger man is perfect for that.

    • Jaded says:

When I ended my long-term relationship with a guy who treated me like a piece of furniture I felt as free as a bird and guess what I did? I met a hunky guy 13 years younger than me and had a great time. I didn’t want to settle down, I just wanted a friend with benefits. It ran its course amicably after a year or so. Don’t forget she was the glue that held that marriage together while Tom was married to football. She’s done with that sh*t and can now concentrate on the things that make HER happy, and if it involves having a *close personal friendship* with her trainer, so be it!

    • Mimi says:

Gisele already had her kids; she’s likely not looking to settle down (like Shakira). This guy is also less financially successful/well known than Pique. Totally different situation. (That being said Gerard is a fool.)

    • Emily_C says:

Nonsense. A 34 year old man is 34 years old — he is not internally 27. 27’s an adult anyway. And who says she’s massively in love? Maybe she is, maybe she isn’t — and maybe HE is. Are we going to start pretending THIRTY-FOUR is too young for a man to want a serious relationship now? Infantalizing men not only insults them, but it insults women too. Anyway, untruths are never a good look.

      • Vexxy says:

Agreed. I read that like ‘lol what’. I’m 4 years and 10 months older than my husband (which we usually just round up to 5 years) and he’s definitely not mentally 25.

Tom Brady, sure. He’s clearly immature. Manchildren definitely exist! But it’s silly to say all men are somehow stunted. God knows I’ve known several ladies I’d classify as womenchildren in their thirties who seem like they’re still teenagers. Immaturity isn’t codified by gender!

Honestly, good for her. She clearly put everything into the marriage and he eventually crossed a line. Unlike a lot of us she had the self-worth to know she deserved more and when she gave him the chance to prove himself he let her and the kids down. I’m glad she’s happy. Hope she has some casual relationships to get him out of her system and have some fun.

    • Peachy says:

Not every relationship is destined for marriage lol She’s enjoying herself and it’s great to see!

    • Normades says:

This is no Shakira situation. Gisele just got divorced and is not looking to settle down. I say friends with benefits. Plus he’s hot so good for her- git it girl.

  8. Sarah says:

Honestly, she was probably a big reason he was so successful. He only had to think about football because she did everything else. His life has completely changed and I’m not surprised that he’s playing so badly. He didn’t appreciate everything thing she did for him.

    • HeyKay says:

      @Sarah says
Well said. I think you have it right. G did all the supporting. Kept the family life going and Tom focused on football 10 months a year.

I still think it’s sad. But Brady made his decision.

    • Blue Nails Betty says:

Tom is quickly learning the old chestnut “behind every great man is a woman running every aspect of his life so he can solely focus on his job” is extremely true.

Now that Tom’s focus is not solely on football, he’s crumbling.

    • Liz Version 700 says:

Spot on Sarah. She made it easy for him to shine because she did everything for him. Now he has to play football and be an adult…it doesn’t seem to be going well

  9. Nicole says:

There’s a woman on tiktok who has done a deep (borderline creepy) dive into the timeline of the divorce and she’s absolutely convinced it was to protect Gisele and some of their assets from the fall out of that crypto stuff they were invested in.

    • mia girl says:

Those TikToks are convincing! I’m not sure I buy the divorce is solely to protect their fortune. But there does seem to be something there. That August trip together to Nassau seems suspect. Maybe they were already on a path to divorce, but given how involved they were in FTX , it could be that everything got fast-tracked to protect their $$$$.

I mean another way to look at it is FTX fall could have been the final straw for Giselle.

    • Coco says:

If it’s true once all the crypto FTX stuff and lawsuits are done and over with they will get back together under the guidelines of he charge and will to put his family first and be a true partner to Giselle.

    • Yup, Me says:

      Yeah – she convinced me.

And I’ve added to the story that Tom was looking around for stuff to do in retirement and he wanted to invest with the guy while Giselle was all “crypto is unstable and sounds like an investment for dumbasses” and Tom was all “Well, throwing a ball around for years and having a dick has absolutely equipped me with the skills to make this choice. I’m doing it.” And Giselle said “Your money. Your loss. Keep mine out of it.” And that’s why Tom is back to throwing balls for a living and Giselle dipped.

      • JustBitchy says:

I have read in more than one place that Giselle kept her $ separate and expected Tom to pay for their lifestyle. This crypto theory makes sense.

Also note that her insta of the trip to Brazil had the resort tagged. Not an ordinal partnership but looks like she is being judicious with her money and I would bet $ that the xmas holiday stay was fully comped. No shame, just expect her to live a much less lavish, but no doubt much more satisfying life now.

      • Coco says:

Except they both invested money into crypto Tom over 1.1 million , and Giselle over 686,000 thousand.

    • JustStop says:

The problem is that you can make a pretty convincing timeline of just about anything if the actual facts are hazy enough. Fan theories about any celeb are just about as reliable as anti-vaxxers’ theories about how the COVID-19 vaccine killed X person–or as reliable (lol) as British or American tabloid reporting (which includes Fox and a host of right-wing and mainstream corporate outlets). Actual journalism is important because it can invalidate a lot of misinformation when it’s important to the greater society.

  10. Nicki says:

There was a little documentary about her (on E!, maybe?) back in the day and she came across as funny, charming, and self-aware. No hint of vanity or diva. Tom blew it.

  11. MaryContrary says:

I’m guessing she already mourned the demise of her marriage over the last few years. Now she’s out there living her best life.

  12. blue says:

I’ll laugh if Tom gets canned & can’t get another starting QB gig. The Patriots built their team & playbook for years around Brady’s style & he’s not doing well with the Buccaneers who weren’t tuned into Brady. Plus, he’s pretty old. It’s hard to compete physically against guys 20 years younger.

    • Jaded says:

He’ll end up playing for the Bumblefuck Punters at this rate.

    • Emily_C says:

He did well with the Bucs in 2021, when they won the Superbowl with him as QB. I think it’s a combination of age catching up to him like a freight train and Gisele leaving his sorry ass.

  13. JoanCallamezzo says:

She took her power back when she left her husband. Onward and upward, from one divorcé to another we love to see it.
Why wouldn’t she being dating this instructor guy?

  14. JoanCallamezzo says:

She took her power back when she left her husband. Onward and upward, from one divorcee to another we love to see it. Crush goals and have fun.
Why wouldn’t she being dating this instructor guy? She’s known him for years, enjoys his company, he’s easy on the eyes and she’s single. Poor Affleck can’t be a single douche bro with Tom.

    • Emily_C says:

That’s assuming Affleck’s not gonna sabotage his own marriage. Again. I hope he won’t, because JLo’s obviously so completely smitten, but… this is Affleck.

    • Happy momma says:

As I get ready to kick my lying, cheating, gaslighting husband to the curb, I’m loving this version of Gisele 🙂

  15. j.ferber says:

I’ve never seen her look happier, really elated. Good for her.

  16. Isadora says:

She should hang out with Shakira and start a witch coven together.

  17. JustBitchy says:

What’s the over/under in when Tom remarries and has a couple of more kids? You know it’s in his future.

    • Liz Version 700 says:

I bet he is remarried and his new wife is expecting in 2 years max

      • Anna says:

Definitely. She’ll be 25, relatively unknown and fully dependent on him and Tom will be giving interviews on how she “understands” him meaning he’s doing what he wants and she stays quite because she likes the lifestyle.

    • lucy2 says:

For sure. Men rarely stay single, and a guy like that, who had a wife doing ALL the work at home for their family? He’ll find someone younger who isn’t wise yet to his crap.

  18. Jay says:

Being from the Boston area, Tom and Gisele are like family, we love them both. Congratulations to both for using their god given talent to reach to top of their chosen fields. While Gisele appears to have moved on without any regrets, I can’t imagine Tom sitting around wondering “what it” it is likely that his only regret is that he didn’t hire Gisele’s PR Firm before she did.

  19. Jay says:

According to the article Bündchen loves Costa Rica — the spot where she and Valente have vacationed together on numerous occasions. Wonder how many of those vacations predated her divorce to Tom, and were the kids with her each time, if not I wonder who was doing the parenting while she vacationed on the beach with her boyfriend?

  20. j.ferber says:

Jay, if what you say is true, then I’d believe Tom was cheating on her for years and she was very near her “f-ck this shit” moment when she pulled the plug on the marriage. She has a devoted family and I’m sure the kids were always well-taken care of no matter what.

    • Jay says:

      j.ferber:
You may be right; Gisele is clearly holding something over Tom’s head. Without so much as a peep from Tom she has been out and about flaunting her new-found freedom and her new love interest, not to mention her topless photo shoot . And today brings us news that they can’t be seen together visiting schools for the kids. Something tells me this Shit-Show hasn’t begun to get up-to-speed. Well, that’s it for me, I’m off to my next drama-packed celebrity-divorce case…Have a good one…
