Sharon Osbourne sorry for “Susan Boyle is a hairy a-hole” comments

Last week, Sharon Osbourne appeared on The Opie & Anthony Show, and she ended up bashing Susan Boyle. Sharon said Boyle was “hit with the f-cking ugly stick… I like everybody to do well. Even somebody that looks like a slapped arse. God bless her. It’s like, ‘You go girl’. She does look like a hairy arsehole. She is a lovely lady. You just want to say ‘god bless’ and here’s a Gillette razor.” Harsh, yes? Mean? Obnoxious? Of course. It’s made worse, I think, by the assumption/fact that Boyle isn’t totally… with it. Is that the nice way of saying it? I don’t think Susan Boyle is handicapped, she just seems to be a bit eccentric, and maybe not too bright. It felt like Sharon Osbourne was picking on the slow kid. In any case, Sharon has now apologized for her comments:

Sharon Osbourne has apologized for saying that Britain’s Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle was hit by “the ugly stick.”

Last month, Osbourne, 57, appeared on Sirius XM Radio’s The Opie & Anthony Show and was asked about Boyle. She cracked, “You just want to say God bless and here’s a Gillette razor.”

But on her Twitter page this week, Osbourne changed her tune.

“Susan Boyle is a lovely gracious woman and I took advantage of that by poking fun at her,” she wrote. “I would never want to be responsible for hurting Susan and I must apologize for getting a cheap laugh at her expense.”

Boyle, 47, is set to release her first album, I Dreamed A Dream, Nov. 24

Yeah, if you’re going to apologize for something like that, it’s best to just fall on your sword completely. I hope Sharon sent Boyle a little gift or something, because Sharon’s original comments crossed the line into cruelty. Plus, it’s not like Sharon is God’s beautiful gift, either.

I think Sharon is normally pretty funny, but she needs to take a look @ some old photos. She wasnt a beauty queen back in her days. She only now looks decent after NUMEROUS surgeries. She really isnt a beauty queen now! Get off your high horse dear…

I hate when celebrities apologize for insulting comments that they make because you know that they are not in the least bit sincere. If they truly didn’t mean to hurt someone’s feelings, they would not have made the comments in the first place. The apologies, 99% of the time come as the result of a huge public backlash, making them fearful that they will lose money as a result of their comments.

Either have some balls and stand by what your big mouth said or DON’T OPEN YOUR TRAP AT ALL. I. for one, do not believe they give a damn about hurting people. I believe they only care about public perception, and that is not a reason to apologize, because that shows you don’t really mean it.

Well, I can see how someone with the natural beauty of Sharon Osbourne…never mind.

I’m really not happy with the “Susan Boyle is ugly” motif. She isn’t. She’s actually quite ordinary looking. Lots of people look like her to one degree or another. She isn’t a beauty, she isn’t a monster. She looks ordinary.

I think that this is a great example of how a focus on celebrity appearance warps our perception.

  4. Sakota says:

Susan is pretty, nothing flashy and her talent more than makes up for whatever she ‘lacks’ in terms of looks. Sharon is a toad and doesn’t have the talen or fame, because she is merely a novelty. No album, nothing to recommend Sharon.

  5. stinabelle says:

I laughed, but only because, as sillypeople said, she must have forgotten what she looked like before her gastric bypass.

  6. audrey says:

What i think is so awful about her comment is that she alternated it with compliments, so as not to sound so horrible. It just makes it that much worse in my book. “She’s ugly, she’s lovely, she looks like a hairy butthole, she’s talented, God bless her!
What a bitch. She looked liked she could’ve been her sister before she had all her “work” done.

  7. lilred says:

Damn I hope Sharon is not to be our yard stick for beautiful…what she said was just mean and uncalled for.

  8. Baho says:

That’s Sharon being Sharon. She’s got a mouth on her (brains too) and that’s what has carried Ozzy as far as he’s gotten. That being said, I think she is truly sorry because she does remember what she looked like, albeit a little late, and she got carried away. It happens.

That said, the British sense of humour is much different than in North America. Jabs and personal insults are de rigeur. Jeez louise, just google some of Prince Philip’s (the Queen’s husband) remarks. He’s said some phenomenally stupid shit.

Oftentimes, if you’re teased like that by a Brit, it means they like you. Hey, don’t shoot the messenger…

  9. OXA says:

Sharon’s comments were not funny, they were downright cruel, vicious and hurtful. She would not stand for anyone slagging off her family members but does it to others.

  10. Neelyo says:

Someone with lips like those in the header pic has no right to call anyone an asshole.

Sharon Osbourne will say anything to say in the spotlight. She’s an opportunistic media whore.

  11. lucy2 says:

Whether she meant her apology or not, the story is still out there, being repeated, and it’s just mean. I’m glad she apologized and all, but why on earth would you say something like to begin with?
Not only should she remember her own real looks, but Sharon should think about her own two kids, both of whom have been publicly joked about with snide comments like this.

  12. moo says:

What the hell has she done with her lips??? I swear, these celeb’s are RETARDED… sorry, that’s an insult to all mentally challenged people… sorry.

    But really Sharon…. WTF????

  13. TwinkleToes says:

How would Sharon like it if someone said something mean about Kelly and Jack? They give away her original self.

  14. wow says:

I loathe Sharon now. Isn’t this the same woman who hit one of the contestants on Charmed School when the girl (Mehgan?) made a smart ass, but true comment about Ozzie? Is this the same woman that goes ape-sh*t when anyone would even mention a negative word about her then drugged out kids? Hypocrit.

And I’m sick of these lame a$$ apologies after people intentionally do stupid stuff. Grow up, Sharon. Such an over grown bully. That isn’t, nor was it ever, a cute look on you.

  15. Bev Williams says:

Sharon must be jealous…she has no talent to speak of…only that of her husband.

Susan on the other hand is talented and a nice, genuinely decent person.

I would like to see some ‘before’ surgery pictures of Sharon Oz. posted for comparison….what do ya say?

  16. mollination says:

susan looks exactly like sharon pre-plastic surgery. So it’s like saying “haha, you can’t afford pretty yet!”

  17. Blitz says:

How can someone accidentally make a comment like that? No one says stuff like that unless they’re jealous, or callous, or both. Add shockingly unprofessional into the bargain. I’d hate to be fly on the wall listening to the nauseating chit chat between Osbourne and Amanda Holden.

  18. Firestarter says:

Come on, that whole thing on Charm School was a set-up to create interest in Megan Want’s a Millionaire show that VH1 was launching later on that year. The suit was dropped and as typical with relaity shows, it was scripted.

  19. Dante says:

I don’t like Sharon Osbourne and think she is a phoney who has a trashtalk mouth but when it’s someone else doing the trashing she can’t take it. She likes to dish though. Sadly, Sharon also trashes even nice people. She’s seems oddly insecure about being around NICE people if she feels competative with them in some way. I’ve seen her snipe talk against certain bands for no reason other than envy. One has to wonder whether or not the Osbourne’s oldest daughter who doesn’t want to appear with her family on television is more at odds with her Mom and the concept of “Chaos” that Sharon seems adept at promoting. I think Sharon is an instigator and a trouble maker especially when she feels a sense of insecurity and that’s never an attractive quality especially in someone her age.
