Sarah Jessica Parker hypes the ‘very meaningful’ reunion of Aidan & Carrie

The second season of And Just Like That has been filming for several months already. AJLT really is the series no one wanted, but it was successful enough to justify a second season. This was always Sarah Jessica Parker’s ego trip – she wants to stay with Carrie Bradshaw and ride that train forever. I guess Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon appreciate the paychecks, but I really admire Kim Cattrall for walking away from this mess. Anyway, instead of just allowing Carrie Bradshaw to meet new people and develop mature relationships in her 50s, the writers have brought back John Corbett’s Adian Shaw, Carrie’s ex-fiance. Aidan and Carrie were always bad for each other and they fundamentally should not have been together, but here we are, going through another round of “Carrie and Aidan’s drama.” SJP thinks it will all be great:

Sarah Jessica Parker is happy to be working with a certain face from her Sex and the City days again. During a break from filming season 2 of And Just Like That…, the actress opened up about reuniting with John Corbett for the HBO Max sequel series.

“It’s so nice. It’s so happy,” Parker, 57, told Extra at the New York City launch of the flagship boutique for the SJP Collection, her popular shoe line. “He brings a lot of joy. He’s a kind of preternaturally happy person and he’s so excited to be back.”

She went on to tease the return of Corbett’s character — hunky woodworker Aidan Shaw, Carrie Bradshaw’s ex-fiancé — and just what it’ll mean for fans.

“It’s an amazing storyline that [executive producer Michael Patrick King] and the writers have sorted out,” said Parker, who plays Carrie, “and I think will be really meaningful to the audience who feel a lot of affection for him.”

As for any hints about what Aidan’s storyline may be on the show, Parker said, “I can’t say anything except, it’s just really great to be in his company again and to have a storyline that is also happy and fun and familiar, but new because it’s been 10, 15 some years.”

Aidan was one of Carrie’s most notable love interests in the third and fourth seasons of Sex and the City. He even showed up to tempt Carrie in 2010’s Sex and the City 2, the second big-screen movie.

[From People]

Am I on crack or didn’t Aidan show up with a whole-ass baby at one point during SATC’s run? I remember because the timing made zero sense – it was way too soon for him to have a baby that size just a year or so after they had ended their engagement. Yes, I just looked it up – he had a son named Tate, and he was married to or “with” a lady furniture designer. He had two more children, Homer and Wyatt. So within the SATC world, he is a father of three. I wonder how Carrie will make that all about her. Anyway, I’m sorry that old-school SATC fans have to deal with the dreaded Aidan-Carrie mess again.

I know I’m just preaching to the choir but my god, NO.
I’ve said this before but Carrie’s selfishness really gets contextualized with Aidan. The episode where she freaked out at him for buying her a laptop when hers crashed because she felt like it was impacting her self-sufficiency is staggering when you compare just a few episodes later, her on the brink of eviction and still turning her nose up at affordable apartments and bitching at Charlotte for not wanting to randomly offer her thousands of dollars.
And her cheating on him was so crazy, lol. I could see once, but several times and then afterward walking around eating Natasha’s food??? Then begging him to move past it, at Charlotte’s wedding.
    Obviously I could go on…

I could see once, but several times and then afterward walking around eating Natasha’s food??–The ENTIRE Big/Carrie/Natasha affair just made Carrie look like the biggest AH on the planet. Dude ditches you for a younger woman, she picks up with him because he’s bored and she’s an idiot who thinks love isn’t real unless it comes with drama. I couldn’t believe that she thought it was okay to lounge around Natsha’s home instead of taking herself home. Then had the nerve to hound Natasha not once but twice. Once when she wanted to offer her lame self-centered apology and then when she was in her feelings because Big left Natasha money
( guilt for being an ass). I see that Carrie Bradshaw STILL isn’t trying to be the adult in the room.

Reboot got cancelled, but this gets a second season? Ugh ugh ugh.

    • Susan says:

      I KNNOOOOOWWWWW

Reboot was amazing. Like seriously so funny and so well done. And a great cast. So sad.

And we get this regurgitated dreck.

      • Jennifer says:

Reboot didn’t have a previously hit series to make it a cash cow like SATC did.

This one sounds terrible, honestly, and I’m sick of A&C. He’s nice, it doesn’t work with her, move along, please.

Old-school SATC fans don’t have to engage in this nonsense at all. I’m chalking this up as SJP fanfic and it joins Sex and the City 2 in being part of an alternate universe that I cannot wrap my brain around as canon LOL. It’s turning into a situation like those sitcoms centered around high school, and then instead of bowing out when the kids graduate — the show creates a fake college and ALL of the characters go there together. “You got into State College University, too?!” Carrie is supposed to be so wealthy, connected, interesting, traveled etc. but she’s still drawn to Aidan Shaw?? Poor Cathy, the faceless faithful wife, furniture and baby-maker.

  4. Matilda says:

First, Carrie was bad for Aiden. Second, why can’t it be a plot line of just being friends with an ex lover who has moved on with a wife and family? I hope he isn’t introduced as an old love come back. I am of the SATC generation living in NYC my whole life and I am friends with exes still important to me and have included each other in the families/spouses/careers and life events that have happened to us over the decades. Much more of a realistic and mature story line of how life really is when you move on. However it’s all about SJP and making her look good so I doubt it.

  5. Annaloo. says:

    Does Aiden hate himself?

  6. Julia K says:

Looking back, I can’t believe that I was once a faithful viewer of SATC . I’m so over it now, let it die a peaceful death. Talk about jumping the shark.

  7. Tessa says:

Big was stalking Carrie when she was dating Aiden. Instead of changing her numbers she obsessed over the messages he left. Then she blames Natasha and in denial about big and his ditching her for natasha. Then later she insults Aiden by not wearing the engagement ring on her finger but around her neck.

  8. Jcb says:

Check out her IG post today; several make out shots with Aidan. 🙄

  9. Ameerah M says:

This truly is the show that never dies. Would Aidan even be interested in Carrie at this point in his life? I highly doubt it.

  10. MrsCope says:

Amen. It’s legacy barely holds up on rewatch now that I’m roughly their age. Now they’re just bludgeoning it and make sure it dies a very public death.

  11. Eleonor says:

    Aiden and Carrie?
Who they think they are ?
    Bennife 2.0?

    • OriginalLeigh says:

      Hilarious comment.

    • lrnny says:

      no
Ben and Jennifer are suited partly because they look hot together and because both are problematic and selfish and love calling the paps

Aidens only problem is he is a door mat to Carrie who is selfish , mean immature and lacks accountability
      and a repeated cheater

  12. Arizona says:

their relationship was so bad. SO BAD. and it was awful enough that they went down it again in the second movie, which was total trash, but then to double down with it now? this woman is in her fifties and still going back to her ex? that’s embarrassing lol.

    • Emily_C says:

Hey now, my stepmother went back to her ex in her 60s. She broke up with my father to do so, and it was definitely the best thing for her by far, because my father is rotten. She’s happily married to her former ex now. I think they dated in college and stayed friends? Anyway, I think it can be very romantic and definitely can be a good thing.

Not in this case though. And it’s not Carrie I’m thinking is making a bad decision — it’s Aidan. Carrie will always just follow the money and drama, she’s incredibly shallow. Really though, the problem at its heart is bad writing and bad production.

  13. HeyKay says:

SJP is becoming more and more desperate trying to keep her paycheck coming in by dragging that awful show along.
SATC was good for it’s time.
And I don’t think any of the 3 leading ladies are over run with offers but let it go.
    Take up a hobby.
SJP and MB must be millionaires 20x over years ago.

  14. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

    Who’s asking for this crap?

  15. Peanut Butter says:

It srikes me as strange and sad that SJP just will not stop flogging this dead horse of a show. She could have moved on years ago with interesting new work. Is SATC the only thing she can get financing for? I just don’t get it.

  16. Concern Fae says:

The dangerous part of the fairy tale princess fantasy isn’t that she’s beautiful, it’s that everyone loves her. You can tell who’s been princess-pilled because they become angry when it’s suggested that not everyone is going to love them or that someone finds them annoying.

I gave up on a writer whose work I found useful when she got into an argument on her blog that she was not an annoying person. Multiple people tried to point out that annoying is in the eye of the beholder. She would have none of it.

BTW, studies have shown that everyone is annoying. Either you are a horrible person, who everybody finds annoying, or you are a normal person who gets on the nerves of roughly 50% of the population. The world would be a better place if people understood this.

  17. AmyB says:

Old school SATC fan here, and this shit gives me a migraine! I loved Aidan’s character but Carrie did not deserve him, so stop trying to make this happen!! Bringing him back for that God-awful SATC 2 movie was bad enough…now this!!

  18. Chlo says:

I’m here to provide a different opinion – I don’t mind! I will willingly watch the train wreck! I like John Corbett. I wish this was a well done show, and in that scenario, reuniting with Aiden would never happen. But it is what it is. I also love fanfic, and as another said above, this totally gives fanfic vibes. lol HOWEVER, I also stopped watching the first season mid-season because I just couldn’t handle it anymore, so maybe I won’t even get to the Aiden storyline with this season, but I’m going give it the ol’ college try. lol

  19. Brassy Rebel says:

I wonder if there’s a reason she’s out on the street in a bathrobe. That’s all I want to know about this show. I prefer SJP in Hocus Pocus.

  20. Lucy says:

Carrie was, and remains, the absolute WORST. I was glad that Aiden moved on AND took legal action against her regarding the apt. This just…sucks.

  21. Rachael Prest says:

There was an interview in the Guardian this week with Patricia Field, and she was soooo shady about Aidan/John Corbett. It was v. amusing.

  22. J.Mo says:

I guess she doesn’t mind that viewers are hate-watching. The wardrobe in the attached photos, awful.

  23. Mel says:

UGH! Aidan deserves better than Carrie, she was a selfish twit for the entire relationship.

  24. AJ says:

Aiden was my favorite back in the day! And for some reason that was the thing that made me notice how selfish and ridiculous Carrie was. Watching it again later, it was more obvious earlier haha! I didn’t watch the first season, I don’t know if I’ll try the second but dang it I did like Aiden!
