Nick and Vanessa Lachey have hosted every season of Love is Blind to lackluster effect. I always sort of wondered, why them? It’s not like they met on a blind date; they’re just a stable, but C-list celeb couple. They barely interact with the cast, but pop up here and there to provide a little exposition for the audience and host the reunion. They’ve never been great hosts, but after the season four reunion they’re being called out for being actively bad.
Many fans are still waiting to watch the delayed “Love Is Blind” reunion, which failed to air live as planned on April 16, and is now dropping instead on Monday afternoon.
However, some people did manage to catch a delayed stream of the show on Sunday night. Many took to social media to share their reactions — including their thoughts on how Nick and Vanessa Lachey hosted the hotly anticipated episode.
People came after the Lacheys’ hosting style, with one Twitter user calling them “awkward as hosts” and having “no chemistry with the cast.”
Others were frustrated by the questions the hosts asked — or didn’t ask — the participants, claiming they could have delved more deeply into the drama.
“Nick and Vanessa Lachey are terrible hosts,” one person tweeted. “She asks all the wrong questions, takes the wrong sides and then goes, ‘time to move on’ before anyone’s answered a single thing.”
Others accused the hosts of being unfairly biased toward certain cast members, and not holding each cast member equally accountable.
Viewers said she was “biased towards” Jackelina Bonds, who was in a love triangle with Marshall Glaze and Josh Demas (who she is now with).
“This reunion was TERRIBLE! I’ve always defended the Lacheys when people said they were terrible hosts but I’m not going to anymore,” one person tweeted. “Nick barely said anything and Vanessa was so obviously biased towards Jackie and rude to Marshall.”
Cast member Paul Peden felt that Vanessa Lachey had a “personal bias” against him while asking about his breakup with Micah Lussier.
“I was like, ‘F— man.’ They kept drilling, drilling it down on me,” Paul told ET. “I think I said my piece. I think Vanessa might have had a little bit of personal bias in that scenario or at least I kind of detected that. I don’t know. But that’s just my assumption based on how she continued to drill into it after I gave my full rationale for why I felt the way that I did.”
“They need to fire Vanessa and Nick immediately,” another person wrote on Twitter. “Vanessa is so aggressive to the guys and or the wrong people. Nick doesn’t even talk. This reunion sucked because of the hosts.”
Others said the Lacheys put too much pressure on the married couples about having babies.
Many people also had thoughts about who could replace Nick and Vanessa Lachey as hosts of the hit Netflix reality series going forward.
One of the most popular suggestions?
The OG “Love Is Blind” couple Cameron Hamilton and Lauren Speed-Hamilton, who tied the knot in the first season and are still going strong.
“It’s time for them get vanessa and nick out of here and get cam and lauren in as the hosts,” one person tweeted.
“I said it once and I’ll say it again Lauren and Cameron should be the new host for #LoveisBlind it just makes sense. Nick and Vanessa serve no purpose anymore,” another person wrote. “Let’s give an actual couple that went through the experiment and it worked out. Validates the cast more.”
The fact that Netflix botched the live reunion and people still had time to criticize the Lacheys for their hosting… Enough said. No, but I do agree that they’re not good hosts. Their only value-add is being a famous and solid couple. Honestly, the Alexa/Siri device that hosts Too Hot To Handle adds more to that show than Nick and Vanessa do to Love is Blind. Nick doesn’t talk, but Vanessa was an actual host of TRL, so she should be better at this. Maybe those skills atrophied over the years, I don’t know. But I agree that she always takes the women’s sides, even in cases where it’s not justified like Jackelina and Micah. Along with much of the audience, Paul Penden called her out for how she interviewed him and she sent him apology flowers. And Vanessa is kind of rude when she interviews people — it’s like she mistakes snark for a personality and she kind of does a Blaccent sometimes and it’s annoying. Everyone loved Lauren and Cameron Speed-Hamilton from season one — they really should be the new hosts.

they were such bad hosts. Nick didn’t say anything. and Vanessa just grilled on all the guys for no reason. She also insensitively asked all of them about children and wouldn’t let up about babies. come on girl, some of these women are in their 30s, they might have issues with fertility…it’s not your place to harp on them having kids. also none of them need to have kids! jeez. also…paul….he was trying to say in the nicest terms i didn’t think Micah was nurturing bc she was a mean girl the whole time. Vanessa wouldn’t drop it and wanted Paul to say more mean things. come on!
@hangonamin oooh interesting angle that what Paul said about Micah not being nurturing could also be his way of saying he saw her mean girl ways. I couldn’t figure out Micah, she seemed sweet whenever she was around Paul (in and out of the pods), but was nasty with Irina and then of course her mean girl bestie Shelby who she allowed to be very nasty when she made snap judgments about Paul while seemingly kinda lit. Also it seems like Micah never shared much in the pods about wanting to live mostly in AZ rather than Seattle.
First season Vanessa seemed okay, then the rest od the seasons she seems miserable.
And in this 4th season I was ready for her and Nick to say they’re getting a divorce.
Vanessa just gives me vibes that she is not content, happy or.. Idk. It’s something. She seems a bit mean and harsh, and just not friendly anymore.
Maybe she’s depressed. Idk.
Totally agree on the Paul comment. He saw Micha’s mean girl-thing and wanted to call her out, but didn’t. He was 100% right that Micha is not mother-material. She is way too emotionally immature. And I wish he had just said it flat out.
The baby questions were outrageously inappropriate and its mental vanessa thought that was okay!
But I seem to be in the minority but the hate for nick and Vanessa hosting seems way over the top!?! They aren’t the best TV hosts ever but I’ve been surprised by the level of criticism. If they didn’t state opinions, people would say boring. If they do, they say biased. Also people ragging on her for not going hard enough on Jackie – frustrating but in the format it was filmed, it was never gonna be as brutal. It was just one interviewer with 2 interviewees, no one else there to chime in and I got the impression Jackie made a lot of conditions under which she would appear, and netflix clearly realised they needed to include her because the audience was out for her blood.
I dunno, I think the criticism is disproportionate.
That being said, fully support Lauren and Cameron being the hosts!!
Totally agree with you, @CherHorowitz! The baby stuff was WAY over the top and just not something you grill people about in 2023. However, I think Vanessa is actually good at live-hosting. She’s a little wacky, and is in the moment in that she doesn’t just stick to the scripted questions like Nick. She is clearly listening and asks follow up questions. Yeah she has her bad/dumb jokes and seems a little drunk, but I think she’s actually perfect for this.
People need to not forget that this is a GAME, and the Lacheys work for Netflix. It’s their job to position certain players in a certain way. They’re doing what they need to do. Some of these players/contestants are gonna be going on Perfect Match and they need to be painted in a certain light for whatever the producers have in store for them.
Also totally agree that, all that said, I would fully support Lauren and Cameron as hosts!
But this particular show is not a game. It’s specifically supposed to be a televised human experiment, not a game show like how Irina played it. If you don’t find the right person for you, you are supposed to leave single…not pick the lesser of evils & try to win. It’s not *supposed* to be a game show….although Perfect Match might be changing how they portray people for their future shows & that’s suspect.
@Mallory – I didn’t say “game show,” I said game. There is a BIG difference. And reality “dating” shows are all games. Who can become famous, make the most money, get the most followers, etc. Falling in love is just a bonus.
I first noticed their bizarre hosting style when they completely let Bartise off the hook for being a douche last season. Like, what?!? They barely questioned him!
I love Lauren and Cameron. I watched some of their YouTube review of this season. Cameron was really sweet about all of the cast members.
Right? Completely let Bartise off the hook, and grilled Cole for some unknown reason.
And then why…whyyy did we need to see Bartise again this reunion? Atp I’m willing to pay actual money to never see Bartise again.
@valar doheris +1 for Bartise not being a thing. He’s doing such a huge reveal of his little baby, baby photo first, baba momma reveal after, LIB reunion. He sucks. I loved him getting his a** handed to him on that other recent Netflix dating show. Oh gosh is it terrible I watched all of it and can’t remember the name of it?? I wish I was like that about Bartise!
I’ve been side eyeing them since a contestant got physical with another constant (off camera but mics were on) & they said nothing about it. When a woman is yelling for a man to get off of her or let her go, it’s abuse. I’m still baffled that didn’t make a blip.
Glitter spit-up rag. Reminds me sort of like Kate’s roll of toilet paper hanging off her one shoulder white gown. I was thinking until this reunion fiasco having the hosts not seen very often was a good thing. How dare she treat Marshall badly!
Exactly, where are Marshall’s flowers anyway?
I too did not enjoy Nick/Vanessa’s hosting during the reunion especially. It did feel like Vanessa brought in a lot of bias and was somehow allowed to have final judgement on the participants. Maybe if Nick had stepped in a little more to balance out her biases it could have worked, but regardless I’m more pro Lauren / Cam or someone with a background in couples therapy. Not to have an actual therapy session but I feel like the goal should be to get a better understanding of each person’s feelings and motivations in a fair manner and allow the audience to decide for themselves.
Meh
Hosts of “reality” shows have always shown biases.
Exhibit A: Jeff Probst on Survivor who always leaned into his love of bro-dudes or just random dudes he liked at the expense of many other contestants, using his comments to spin and manipulate.
It’s sounds like the bigger issue was these two are dull
I still don’t understand why she grilled Marshall and Paul and had no smoke for Micah…and even worse, just sat around giggling with Jackie and Josh.
Then harping on and ON about babies? In 2023?
Meanwhile Nick just sat there like a wax figure. What a waste of everyone’s time.
The baby question was so WTF like Vanessa?!!!SMH, it’s so invasive!!
I haven’t watched since season one but I was obsessed when it came out. I love Cam and Lauren so much that maybe I would start to watch it again if they were the hosts. I do remember that my husband and I both thought the Lacheys were just there and awkward though.
@ Erin, I too watched season 1 and thoroughly enjoyed it, and when season 2 came out I possibly watched 2 episodes and said to myself….uhm, no, next!!!!
I have read how badly it has declined over the seasons and I am glad that I stopped wasting my time over it.
But I would agree that the Cam and Lauren would be excellent hosts!!! They are absolutely the cutest couple and I enjoy their IG posts too!! Ah, love ❤️
@bothsidesnow-Yep, I think I watched part of the first episode of season two and checked out. I think with a lot of reality shows, at least for me, once the uniqueness of it is gone it’s no longer interesting and I feel like the people aren’t really there for the right reason and more so to get exposure or 15mins of fame. I loved The real housewives of New York and New Jerseys first couple of seasons but then it just all seemed like scripted drama and I’ve never watched any of the other ones. Idk that’s just me but I will probably watch anything that Cam and Lauren do and I love her tik toks even though she doesn’t post as much.
I stopped watching Love is Blind after season 2, I don’t think I even watched the reunion episode of that season lol. It was a great pandemic binge but I dunno, I don’t feel the need to watch like we did when we were all stuck at home. Is it worth it to watch season 3 and 4 despite the Lacheys terrible hosting? Are there any couples like Lauren and Cameron we love to root for? (I know there’s another couple from season 1 that is still married but I didn’t like either of those people)
@ AO, yes, the other couple from season 1 made me sick to my stomach. She is such a vile human and he is such a d*ck, plain and simple!! And didn’t she tell him after they were married that she has an enormous amount of debt?? IRC, she did and she should have told him that up front. That was a big issue for me, IMO.
Season 4 feels like a return to form! Couples to actually root for. . But wow the” live” finale was an utter mess. They need new hosts. They (really Vanessa as Nick said/did nothing) came off biased and at times badgering. However the worst was how much time was hounding about babies (she has done this on past finales too). This is one of the most insensitive/invasive questions you can ask. This question can hold trauma for so many plus quite simply their reproductive decisions are not someone else’s business and certainly should not be repeatedly asked on a “live” international broadcast.
I haven’t watched this season yet, but I’ve always thought they were pretty bad. The one thing I always wonder about, for all the talk about them being “solid”-didn’t he have to go to anger management and AA for drunkenly attacking a female photographer last year? That doesn’t come out of nowhere. His management must be great, because there hasn’t been any fall out from that.
I don’t watch this nor do I really care, but TikTok was tearing Vanessa apart last night! Not sure how it ended up on my FYP, but it was a hoot!
Wasn’t Nick just sent to court ordered rehab & anger management recently after sticking his hand in the car some paparazzo and trying to grab her camera? Vanessa was heard on the recording of the altercation egging him on too it was not a good peak into their dynamic
Yep & he punched the woman’s window, right by her head, before reaching into her car & trying to grab her phone from inside the vehicle. After he didn’t get her phone & invaded her space with violence, he smiled with his tongue out. He claims harassment but…..no, he was having drunk fun terrorizing a pap sitting in her car, across the street from him. Maybe they were playing it up for their “dear friend” or really didn’t want her photographed? I side eye the hell out of these two.
I’ll say it: these two clearly hate each other and the animosity between them affects their ability to be good hosts. Nick has a rage problem, Vanessa has always been a mean girl. They’re only “solid” because nothing comes up in the papers.
Time for the Hamiltons y’all!!!!!!!
I can’t believe people watch this trash as well as Love Island, The Housewives series, The Batchelor, and The Kartrashians but I guess it is some people’s guilty pleasure. It’s all fake and rehearsed.
I agree with you on both accounts I don’t watch theses shows because they’re obviously fake and too much drama. Yes I agree a lot of people use these shows as guilty pleasure it’s something that they don’t have to think too hard about when watching.
Agree a lot of it is scripted. Even the MTV series Laguna Beach, Jersey Shore, and Real World , some of the cast had mentioned that they were told what to say/do. Although there has been some successes on the Bachelor, as there’s couples who did eventually get married and now have kids :).
Oh well. They are kinda boring so ..
I would love it to be two people, non couple. Nick and Vanessa constantly talk about themselves and love to bring up Jessica, the whole thing is getting old. Bliss and Chelsea would be fun!
