When I first saw Maya Hawke on the red carpet at the Met Gala last night I thought she was Suki Waterhouse! She has a very chameleon-like look. I also think that she can act, although I’ve only seen her in Stranger Things. Maya wore a giant white Prada coat with thousands of floral cutouts which I loved. I also really liked her styling. In this case I think the bangs work.
Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade were also in Prada, although they didn’t name the designer in their red carpet interview on E! This is very Matrix, as they were saying on E! I actually like Dwyane’s look more than Gabrielle’s.
Letitia Wright wore Prada too and this is kind of 70s and badass. I love it and it looks like she didn’t have to fuss too much with her fashion and like she was comfortable.
I wasn’t familiar with Cai Xukun but he’s a Chinese musician, was in the boy band SWIN and he’s a Prada brand ambassador. This look is perfection and it’s such a nod to Lagerfeld.
I think Prada kind of phoned it in for Rami Malek. I also don’t think Lucy Boynton was there. I like to see them together, they’re such a striking couple.
I’m including Cara Delevingne here, who was in Karl Lagerfeld and looked so rock and roll. I actually liked this, it’s androgynous, it’s fun and her styling works with it.
Lizzo was also in Chanel, in a class black dress with pearl draping. I love this look and her 80s jewelry too.

Maya is one of the few Nepos who I think is truly talented. People hated what her character became in the last Stranger Things but I thought she played off great with Nancy. She’s also a lot of fun in Do Revenge.
She was EXCELLENT in a recent TV adaptation of Little Women. (She was Meg of course).

She is awful in Stranger Things and her mini role in Once upon a time in Hollywood was Razzie worthy. She is bland and entitled, like all the other nepo babies.

I like a lot of these, but Maya Hawke looks like an older rich b*tch trophy wife from the 80s, or like an all white Cruella Deville from the original Disney cartoon. It looks fun, so I want to love it, but I cannot.
I think part of it is those terrible shoes. They scream outdated not classic

Maya is also great in Do Revenge (Gen X Dangerous Liasons remake). Unlike many nepo babies, she has excellent screen presence. Hate her look here though sorry.
This group is hit and miss for me; Cai is the only one hitting the mark for me, Lizzo looks good but I’m grading on a curve because I’ve seen her afterparty look.
Maya Hawke has 0 screen presence and can’t act. You want screen presence? Try watching for example Jessica Chastain in Miss Julie or most recently in George and Tammy. And, she is a self made hard working woman.
Jessica is 45. Maya is 24.
Why compare 2 women with a 21 year age gap? Time is on Maya’s side & she’ll continue to perfect her skills. Miss Julie bored me to tears, I hated Eyes of Tammy Faye, but yes, George & Tammy (Wynette) was excellent. Jessica was already 31 when she made Jolene, with TV & miniseries experience.
I’m surprised you’re not also comparing Jessica to Meryl or Helen.

I liked Maya’s hair and make-up, and Cara and Lizzo were two of the better looks of the night. I didn’t love Lizzo’s entire look but she brought so much to the look that she elevated it.
Realized what was bugging me about Lizzo’s dress when I saw it in this post. The pearls aren’t perfectly straight.
It’s crazy how fashion, especially on the red carpet, brings out the anal retentive in us all. Or maybe it’s an uncanny valley thing.
I get your comment about Maya’s changing looks, and agree. She looks good. I wish there was another picture or 2 of her, because I’m curious how it lay without her hand in front. Hope she didn’t have to hold it there all night! I didn’t like Letitia Wright’s look; I had an almost identical suit but in LAVENDER decades ago; it doesn’t feel badass to me! I loved Lizzo’s dress, but don’t think it captured the Lagerfeld vibe exactly; much more elegant than fierce. Cara Delevingne looked fierce with great styling and makeup. Rami Malek let me down here; he looked like a waiter at a Greek wedding reception. Cai Xukun seemed effortlessly cool and I loved it!

I just wanna say, if you have the chance to see Lizzo in concert, do it.
I saw her last week and it was amazing. Her transition from playing her flute to singing blew me away. Didn’t miss a beat or a breath. And she managed to make a concert with 11k people feel intimate. It is quite a feat.

I love Maya’s look. Cara’s is good, too, as is Lizzo’s. I’d be happy to never see Letitia Wright again, along with Evangeline Lilly and other spreaders of antivax disinformation.

This is the first time Maya Hawke didn’t look to me like a pale washed-out version of Uma. I think she looks amazing.
LOVE Lizzo’s look. Gabrielle Union was unrecognizable to me. Was it the hair in her face? I don’t know, but I have looked and re-looked at those pictures a couple times and still think she looks different.
Cara looked great.
Gabrielle and Dwyane KILLED it, but then they always do. His smile in the second pic is everything. He loves his family first, and his fashion second. Love their support of their daughter, but they are getting hate for it. So sad and maddening. Their daughter is obviously VERY happy. She is who she wants to be. I applaud that and them.
