Riley Keough ‘relieved to have settled’ with her grandmother, she didn’t want ‘drama’

As we heard this week, Riley Keough and Priscilla Presley came to some kind of settlement agreement over Lisa Marie Presley’s estate. Priscilla challenged her daughter’s will, just days after Lisa Marie’s passing in January. Riley barely got a chance to mourn her mother before she had to lawyer up and deal with her grandmother’s drama. LM’s will basically cut out Priscilla’s longtime business manager from the running of the estate, and it was kind of clear that LM didn’t want her mom anywhere near the trust which (partially) controls Graceland and what’s left of Elvis’s music rights. As I said earlier, I suspect that Riley basically just gave in to whatever Priscilla wanted because Riley simply didn’t want the drama. Well, People Mag had an exclusive about just that:

Riley Keough is looking forward to putting family drama behind her. After the Daisy Jones & The Six star, 33, reached a settlement with her grandmother, Priscilla Presley, 77, in court on Tuesday over Lisa Marie Presley’s estate, a source tells PEOPLE exclusively Keough is hoping to move on.

“Riley is relieved to have settled the dispute over her mom’s estate. She doesn’t want any drama with her grandmother,” says the source of Keough, who was photographed in Vancouver on Wednesday picking up coffee. “She was hoping they could reach a settlement quickly.”

Lisa Marie — who was also mom to 14-year-old twins Finley and Harper (with ex-husband Michael Lockwood) — died suddenly in January at 54 years old, and “Riley is still grieving her mom,” adds the source. “It’s been very tough for her. She wants to focus on making memories with her own daughter now. This is her priority.”

Counsel for Priscilla and Keough said in court Tuesday their clients had reached a settlement, and that Keough’s team would be submitting a settlement request under seal for both the Promenade Trust and a life insurance trust.

“Everyone is happy. Unified and together and excited for the future,” said Ronson Shamoun, Priscilla’s lawyer, outside court. Added Keough’s attorney, Justin Gold: “[Riley] would not have agreed to the settlement if she was not happy with it.”

What a mess and what a family. It feels like Riley is just protecting her peace and not trying to deal with Priscilla’s drama and I don’t blame Riley at all. Riley doesn’t need the money – she’s got a career, she’s a talented actress. There’s some indication that Riley was basically in charge of negotiating her half-sisters’ part of the trust too, given that they’re minors and Riley is basically executor of her mother’s estate. Anyway, I hope Riley gets to focus on her husband and daughter now.

I feel for Riley. She has lost her brother, and her Mom.

Priscilla should be ashamed of herself for putting Riley thru all this garbage.
Priscilla is near 80, has millions herself. How damn much money does an 80 y/o think they need?

I wish only the best for all of LMPs children.
Between Priscilla and Michael Lockwood, my advice is get good lawyers.

I hope Riley can have some peace now. I feel for her dealing with family drama. Some families are just toxic.

  3. Izzy says:

I’ve really lost a lot of respect for Priscilla Presley. This was such an obvious money-grab.

  4. Kim says:

It’s something how Priscilla is trying to spin this like she had a legitimate claimed.
Priscilla is/was paid yearly for getting the elvis estate back on track after elvis father died. This isn’t a case of her EVER being underpaid or taken advantage of. If I was Riley I would cut her out of my life for a few years. It’s not like Priscilla protected lisa marie.

  5. JRenee says:

It’s enough that she has to side eye the twins greedy father. This entire estate issue is just about greed. Hopefully she can move forward with her life/ family/ career. Shame on Priscilla, I guess she is trying to build an even larger nest egg for her son.

Priscilla was clearly blindsided that Lisa Marie had changed her estate plan. She lashed out about the changes & a supposedly weird signature, then things got very quiet very quickly. I kind of think Riley & her attorneys shut the drama down.

It seems like after not being able to do it while she was alive, Lisa Marie wanted her mom to stop getting paid by the Elvis estate- and it has always probably been Priscilla’s main means of support. Ugh.
She has no right to any of that money, especially at this point.

Poor Riley. I’m glad she has her own young family. It makes all the difference in the world when dealing with crappy or crazy family, to feel like you are not alone, to feel like you have someone to depend on.

I figured she just wanted it to be over with, poor girl. I kinda believe Priscilla would have fought till the cows come home and Riley knew it. Got it behind her and now to live her life. A good bargain overall.

  9. Borgqueen says:

Plus Riley is not as invested in the Elvis’ legacy. She has her own money, career and seems to not be the typical Hollywood actress caring about fame and fortune.

LM had more of gripe with her mother bc she did not know her mom was getting a large chunk of change and LM hated her mom’s manager who too was getting a nice fee on the side.

I also read that Priscilla wanted to be buried at Graceland next to Elvis (he is in between his mom and dad so one of them had to be moved). That was not granted in the settlement.
