Paulina Porizkova on her new boyfriend: ‘I’ve found my prince’

Paulina Porizkova was married to signer Ric Ocasek for 28 years. At the time, many of us thought it was a lovely story: beautiful model falls for quirky and talented singer. They fell in love, married, had kids and lived happily ever after. Granted, I was not paying too close attention to the fact that Ric was much older than Paulina and that her public persona was quieter after her marriage. It turns out that was because theirs was not a storybook marriage, Ric was paranoid and controlled Paulina in many ways, detonating their marriage shortly before his death and causing much grief to everyone by punishing Paulina in his will. Since then, Paulina has opened up on social media and in the press about working again, aging and being lonely. She very much wanted to find love again, mentioning it several times in interviews. Well, guess what? She has. At the start of May, Paulina let her fans know she’s in deep with producer Jeff Greenstein, posting loved up pics. Last Tuesday, she posted the photo above with the following caption:

I’ve often described the middle-aged dating pool as a muddy puddle.
So did it change?
Nope. It’s definitely a dirty little puddle.
So, how did I get lucky?

It’s all in the numbers!
My single girlfriends told me this a while back when I just started to splash around in it. “You just set date after date, don’t invest much in the first date- and go through as many as you have the time for.”

This is what I did. I’ve been on about forty or so dates in the last three years.

It turns out that it IS in fact in the numbers.
By the time you’re a well-seasoned age, the dating pool consists of mostly divorcées, those permanently not-really-available, and a few widows and widowers.
People with no relationship issues are happily married or in long term relationships!
What’s on the market are mostly the wares that are either being returned, or return of their own volition, because they are convinced there are superior takers who just haven’t showed up yet.
So, this dating pool is in fact a puddle of seventy percent of people who have serious commitment issues.

Although I didn’t have “commitment issues”, I certainly had relationship issues.
One of those was falling for those with commitment issues.😂
This part I had to relearn.

Three years of intense self work and kissing a lot of lovely frogs.
And that’s how I found my prince.

I don’t know exactly when Pauline and Jeff started dating. She first hinted at their relations in the end of April, in a really clever IG post of their shadows kissing. She identified Jeff on May 3rd in a photo of them both deleting their Raya apps, presumably how they met. What we don’t know is how long they’ve been dating before they fell in love or deleted their apps, which is the tech age’s equivalent of giving someone your letterman’s jacket. I’d make a big deal of them traveling to Europe together but she’s a model, he’s a producer – it could be work or they’re just rich, you know? Paulina got a raw deal in her marriage and she spent many years lonely and fighting trolls online telling her she had no right to age in public (I mean, are they serious?!) So I’m happy that she has someone who makes her smile and has made her feel secure enough to delete Raya.

However, I’m compelled to be fair here and if this was a Jana Kramer post, I would be telling her to take at least part of that heart off her sleeve. I know, I know – Jana and Paulina do not belong in the same aisle. But Paulina had a crap relationship and has advertised how much she needs another person to make her feel whole. Her IG posts are so… much. Granted, I think she and Aaron Sorokin ended on decent terms, but remember how extra they were? Maybe that’s just how Paulina does it. I wish her and Jeff the best. I hope their Raya apps stay deleted and maybe they can bring me back a baguette from Paris. I hope they have fun, but maybe she should make sure that crown isn’t aluminum foil covered cardboard before she swears allegiance to her prince?

I wish her all the happiness in the world, but the only one who found a true prince is Meghan. Slay your own dragons Paulina. Wear your crown, carry your sword and shield and save yourself.

I am so happy for Paulina! She deserves to be valued and appreciated.

She was truly betrayed by Ric in the most devastating way.

  3. B says:

Make sure it’s not a “crown covered in aluminum foil.”
That’s going in to permanent rotation.

I “used” to follow her. I wish her all the best w this new guy, he has a Ric quirky vibe in looks. I hope it works even for a bit but agree she should slow her roll. She may also be a bit J.Lo – she loves love.
Loved her interview on CBS Sunday Morning and she became friends w a lovely regular noncelebrity woman w Stage 4 Cancer who she had visit her several times. I, however, recently unfollowed her b/c she became too much for me. And I am high in feeling person who loves a deep conversation. I also got oversaturated of the stuff ab looks and being seen as sexy after 50 . I agree w it or having agency to be yourself and that society is sexist but it started to seem shallow considering that a) I have a chronic illness and I realize life is ab so much more ab our outer shell b) she is a gorgeous supermodel in a skimpy bikini. Trust I would if I were her. I think thats part of having a chronic illness -this ephinany. My aunt hated being fat and then we would talk to her on phone from hospice and she would say that she was emaciated and she’s say I should have appreciated being chubby. I’m very underweight from my illness and I get it. and I get nasty comments from people who dont know my situation.

I like Paulina. She seems extra but I never see it is to the point of toxicity.

I hope she sees this for what it is though, dating.

She had been out the game for 3 decades so I think it will take a minute for her to get back in the swing.

She had a person for half her life, it ain’t easy to go the opposite way. Especially with how things went down towards the end.

She mentions going on over 40 dates in the past 3 or 4 years, so I think she took a minute.

After she & Ric split, she returned to nurse him through his last illness & he did not deserve or reward her attention. I think the 2 sons from the second marriage worked against Paulina too? (He disinherited the 2 sons from his first marriage but not the boys he had with Paulina.)
It’s a little worrying that she feels incomplete without a man but I hope these two stay happy and can grow old together.

@Barrett I’m so sorry you’re going through this, I hear you and understand what you’re saying, life is so much more.

I don’t know you but I can feel you’re a wonderful soul and a fighter. I’m myself in a very bad spot right now (complex reasons), and reading you makes me see some light in this dark world. Thank you. And wish you all the best from the bottom of my heart ❤️

He seems creative and nerdy on his IG I personally love that combination and hope he’s a genuinely good guy. She does seem to love love but she’s put in the work to get there and I appreciate how direct she is about it. Good for her.

  10. Jk says:

She seems delightful. I remember her from Estée Lauder ads and the movie Her Alibi. She was impossibly beautiful. Still looking stunning.

  11. Suzanne says:

She was ~19 when she and selfish Ric hooked up, and ~24 when they married. Let her wear her heart on her sleeve…she’s doing everything she missed out on. And her lack of hyper-crafted sophistication is a breath of fresh air.
