BetterUp has renewed their partnership with Invictus for the second year

One of the things I’ve enjoyed so much about Heart of Invictus is that we get a chance to see Prince Harry as a manager and team leader, getting involved with how the games are organized, how the teams are training and preparing, providing pep talks and friendship to the competitors. There’s so much positive energy buzzing all around and within Invictus and a huge part of that is Harry. Harry is actually a really good manager and I could totally see him being extremely effective in a full-time office setting, not that he would want that for himself. One of the most impressive things is how Invictus attracts big-name sponsorship too. Speaking of, for the second year in a row, BetterUp is partnering with Invictus as a sponsor, and to provide coaching services to the veterans.

BetterUp®, the human transformation company, today announced a renewed partnership with the Invictus Games Foundation to support members of the Invictus community, made up of service members from around the world who have suffered life-changing injuries or illnesses. As an Official Partner of the Invictus Games Foundation, BetterUp provides 1:1 coaching, live group programming, community support and personalized assessments that are created and designed by PhDs and behavioral scientists.

These BetterUp resources will continue to support and encourage the recovery journey of wounded, injured, and sick veterans and service personnel at no cost via the We Are Invictus online platform. In the past year, members of the Invictus Games Foundation who used BetterUp experienced increases in optimism (+35%), self-awareness (+42%), resilience (+52%), goal attainment (+58%), self-compassion (+31%) and emotional regulation (+35%).

“For almost a decade, The Invictus Games Foundation has played a pivotal role in the recovery and rehabilitation of so many wounded, injured and sick service personnel from around the world. Through this partnership with BetterUp, the Invictus community is able to unlock an unparalleled support platform to aid their journey of human transformation. It fills me with immense pride to have these two organizations be working together and to see the incredible impact of this initiative,” said Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, Chief Impact Officer at BetterUp, and Founding Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation.

This work with the Invictus Games Foundation is part of BetterUp’s formal commitment to Pledge 1%, a global movement that encourages companies to donate 1% of their staff time, product, profit, or equity to make a positive impact on the community. BetterUp is committed to supporting veterans in the workforce and believes that former service members bring valuable skills and diverse perspectives to any organization. In addition to this renewed partnership with the Invictus Games Foundation, BetterUp employs an active community of veterans, works with military spouses and allies to bring awareness and education around veterans’ issues, and supports great veteran candidates through their hiring pipeline.

[From Business Wire]

Imagine that, Harry parlaying his CIO position at BetterUp into a corporate sponsorship of Invictus for two years in a row. This will also be the first Invictus where BetterUp hosts an in-person forum/discussion for veterans and their families, where they can come together and talk about supporting each other. I see the BetterUp synergy as an extension of Invictus’s structure, honestly. When you see the most impactful mental health work within the Invictus community, it’s often the team sessions with the captain or coach or the one-on-one meetings with psychologists, therapists or coaches.

  1. Cue the haters coming to say that Harry is making money off the veterans by having the company he works with partner with Invictus. I think this is wonderful and I’m glad that the veterans will be able to get the help they need. Mental health is so far down the list of things that is provided in a lot of countries so this access is critical for those veterans suffering from ptsd and other mental health effects suffered during their time on active duty.

Yep! Meanwhile, don’t look over there where Charles is accepting another briefcase full of cash! Look the other way… where Harry has the nerve to be helping people and Meghan has the audacity to leave her house!

Harry is doing wonderful and meaningful work. And using his position to do good for others.

Cue the haters for him breathing
      Bring it on!

    I love this.

I’m so glad better up is working with veterans, and I hope it makes governments around the world feel ashamed of their neglect! Of course the haters are going to hate and spew venom, but the squad is here to tell them, (in a full on mlltary phrase) to Foxtrot Oscar and find a hole

  4. Jaded says:

This is a huge win-win for the veterans who put their lives on the line for their country, and a wonderful partnership. And yet KFC and Bulliam can’t even bring themselves to congratulate the English Invictus participants. They must be seething with rage at the coverage Invictus is receiving through this and the Netflix documentary. Stay mad you useless dickheads, all it’s doing is hastening your downfall.

The thing that i have loved MOST about the Heart of Invictus documentary is how dedicated they are to mental health. How the veterans talk about PTSD from war/injury as a starting point, but the mental damage is so much deeper- stemming from childhood trauma often.

And who gets chosen- is on who *needs* it most.

the whole organization and program blows me away.

It sounds like BetterUp is getting some positive data and publicity in return. Presumably, having clients respond to surveys and allow the resulting statistics to be made public is a real asset for them. Nice negotiating, Harry!

    • Maxine Branch says:

As long as the veterans mental health needs are met, I co-sign whatever benefit Better Up receives in return

This is a wonderful partnership and I’m glad that Harry was able to work this out for 2 yrs in a row. It’s very easy to see that our servicemen and servicewomen need all the help they can get
