Prince Harry will appear on a German sports talk-show to promote Invictus

It truly just occurred to the Daily Mail that Prince Harry will be doing interviews and media to promote the Dusseldorf Invictus Games. They’re currently freaking out about Harry doing stuff with the German media, but keep your eye on whether he also does some American and British media too. At last year’s games, NBC sent Hoda Kotb to The Hague and she scored a huge, exclusive sit-down with Harry, an interview which made tons of news. The British media is still weeping about it, because Harry dared to suggest that his grandmother wasn’t being taken care of properly (she was not). Well, we know some of Harry’s planned media in Germany:

Prince Harry is to take part in a German version of ‘Match of the Day’ to help promote the Invictus Games. He will be a guest on a late-night TV show which usually discuss and analyses the afternoon’s football in the German league, known as the Bundesliga. But rather than talking about the latest results involving Harry Kane’s new team Bayern Munich he will be discussing the Invictus Games which are being held in the city of Dusseldorf.

The Prince will be joined by the German defence minister Boris Pistorius for the live chat on Saturday night on the sport studio show. Three competitors from the games will also take part.

Harry is expected to fly by helicopter from to the ZDF studios in Mainz after the opening ceremony of the Invictus Games. The transport will be provided by the German military who are the hosts for the week-long event involving teams from 21 different countries.

During the TV studio chat Harry will be interviewed by hosts Katrin Muller- Hohenstein and Sven Voss about the event he created for wounded, injured and disabled veterans. In a nod to German viewers ZDF said the show, which goes out at 10pm UK time, will be offered with subtitles.

Harry is expected to arrive in Germany on Saturday morning and attend an event at Dusseldorf Town Hall where he will sign a ‘Golden Book’ reserved for VIP guests. A year ago, when he an Meghan visited the city they were mobbed by enthusiastic fans who took selfies with the couple. The adulation was before the publication of his controversial autobiography ’Spare’ where he took swipes at other members of the Royal family.

[From The Daily Mail]

“The adulation was before the publication of his controversial autobiography ’Spare’ where he took swipes at other members of the Royal family.” LMAO!!! The Mail thinks that German people will be like “oh, no, I don’t want to see Harry now that he’s written a bestselling memoir about how his family neglected and abused him.” They’re really going to have a complete meltdown when Harry gets yet another rock-star reception. Suddenly, they’ll be tying the Windsors to him and claiming that he’s only being treated like a rock star because he’s royal, because he’s the king’s son. Anyway, it’s cool that Harry is doing this German sports talk show. As I said, I imagine he’ll do lots of media. As for the helicopter… quick, tell me how Peg and Buttons are getting around France this weekend?

I’m German and I’ll definitely watch the talk show!
I also have tickets for the closing ceremony… 😍

    • Mary Pester says:

@LIA I’m so jealous lol. I speak a little German still after being stationed there years ago, I had a great friend called Anerosa tchapel who lived in Bad Salzuflen (excuse my spelling please) and I spent many weekends with the family there when I wasn’t on duty. You will have a wonderful time and please let us know how much you enjoy it

      • Lia says:

@Mary thank you for your duty!
I have two good friends who are stationed in Stuttgart in southern Germany!
And I will definitely report! 😊

    • LadyLake says:

The ZDF Sportstudio is THE sports show in Germany. They cover all kinds of sports but with emphasis on soccer.
I’m curious on whether Prince Harry will try the traditional Torwand Schiessen, 6 tries at shooting a goal on a board with 2 holes cut out.

  2. Whyforthelove says:

I think I hear weeping and the banging of heads on desks in the Isle of Britain all the way in the US

    • Wannabefarmer says:

LOL! I thought you were going to say weeping and gnashing of teeth!

      • Whyforthelove says:

Hahahaah that would also apply! Seriously though, in spite of the Windsors’ lack of charisma or kindness, maybe they would be. Tad more popular If they worked occasionally. Of course then people would see more of their lovely personalities

  3. Wait what? Harry will be doing and interview with the host countries news program? Of course he is he is promoting Invictus. Hopefully he will do another one with the USA too. I believe he will get a great reception when he arrives and I think Meg will too when she arrives. It is only the British press who are never welcoming of the pair and everyone one sees this and so now they are in panic mode.

    • Wannabefarmer says:

I assume only reputable media will get passes? BTW, @Kaiser, you have the most amazing knack for picking photos… that one of Harry smirking/smiling in the context of this article —priceless .

      • Mary Pester says:

@susanCollins, yes Susan, it’s amazing how things can come back to you at times. I have a friend in the UK called Heike, I met her when I was transporting a prisoner. Sometimes when she phones to check on me she slips into German and I find myself answering her in German, but ask me to start a conversation and I’m lost lol

    • Mary Pester says:

@susanCollins, yes Susan and I also wonder who the press will pay to stand there and boo. Hope they pay them danger money, but, do you think we will see bullyam or keen on “Match of the Day” trying to talk rugby and early yars, or maybe feeding the rugby players earthsht burgers 😂

      • @ MaryPester. Danger money indeed. My mother was born in Germany. You would think that I could speak that language but because of the times I was not taught. I speak a bit things I would pick up when she would accidentally start in German and finish in English lol.

  4. Amy Bee says:

I can’t wait for the meltdowns from the British press and royalists. LOL

    • Christine says:

      Me either.

Oh, Harry’s taking Invictus athletes on a talk show with him?

Meanwhile, Willnot created an award that doesn’t even invite the winners of the award to the party.

Truly, the juxtaposition of these two has become so much more hilarious!

  5. Laura D says:

Tominey, Gardener, Eden, Morgan, Levin, English. Arbiter, Seward, etc., you really did back the wrong horse(s). All you had to do was write balanced articles based on the truth. That’s all you had to do and you too could have been given a ride on the Sussex Express. Now all you can do is comment on interviews given by the English prince to journalists from different countries . I’d feel sorry for you but, none of you felt a second of remorse when you were publishing your hateful lies about this decent young man and his beautiful wife.

    • aquarius64 says:

The BM know they won’t be granted interviews and will only get sloppy aeconds from other outlets. And Harry is in no mood to throw the BM a bone.

    • Wannabefarmer says:

Indeed. It never occurred to them to consider the long-term consequences of what they were doing, how it would make them and their overlords look. Now the whole world sees and are looking at them them sideways, wondering, HOW can a leader, ‘king’ ‘man’ do that/allow that to be done to his child, grandchlld, DiL. He will never live this down. Second hand embarrassment for them.

I know we are supposed to forgive but Harry will never forgive them for the way they (including his ‘family’) treated his wife – because it says how little they cared for or valued him.

  6. Becks1 says:

harry is going to do interviews and promote invictus?? *clutches pearls* well I never!!!!!

I love how the article mentions the show airs at 10 pm UK time. You know they are all going to stay up and watch it and write super salty articles about Harry trying to take away from William’s news cycle for attending a rugby match LOLOL.

  7. Jan says:

BBC is showing the Invictus Games, on one of their streaming channels, JJ Chalmers (spelling) Harry’s buddy is doing the commentary.

  8. anotherlily says:

Yesterday’s news was about William and Kate attending rugby matches in France as the Invictus Games begin. Kensington Palace will not be happy with this latest Invictus news.

Looking more carefully at the details shows Kate in Marseilles on Friday and William 500 km away in Bordeax on the Saturday. So, unless they are making joint appearances at both matches they’re probably not travelling together. (Also, they’re supposed to be in Wales on the Friday.)

Meanwhile, Harry will be formally received in Dusseldorf on Saturday prior to opening the Invictus Games, after which the German military will transport him to Mainz for a TV interview.

  9. Ace says:

“In a nod to German viewers ZDF said the show, which goes out at 10pm UK time, will be offered with subtitles.”

Sorry but I literally LOLed at this. You mean that a German programme in German TV interviewing someone who doesn’t speak German will have German subtitles??? Wow, that’s the kind of journalism you can expect from the Fail! It also does say a lot about their pov of their little island standing in the world.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to Harry being charming and genuine in that programme and all his interviews during IG, and how it makes certain people lose their shit.

  10. Libra says:

We know the lengths Charles and William will go to discredit Harry,; let’s hope he doesn’t pressure the German gov’t to cancel promotional appearances. We already suspect he has tried it with us. I’m not paranoid, just believe that past behavior is a good indicator of future behavior.

  11. Noor says:

Charles should thank Prince Harry. It takes Prince Harry and his Invictus Games to move William and Kate to watch rugby across the channel.

  12. Lizzie says:

Daily Fail is promoting Harry’s upcoming tv interview in Germany? Has anyone kept track of the number of daily articles about H&M since Friday? Articles mentioning the superstars must be the only thing keeping this rag financially afloat..

  13. Dodo says:

I’m from Düsseldorf and will go to the Town Hall where Harry and our Defense secretary will have a reception.
There’s already a protest action registered by a group which is against IG.
They say IG “normalises” the war.
I bet the British Press will make it a protest against Harry.

    • booboocita says:

Really? I would say that IG highlights the terrible costs of war and celebrates the recovery of the soldiers who sacrificed themselves, as well as the sacrifices their families make.

  14. Nanea says:

The ZDF Sportstudio is the biggest TV show on all things sports-related in Germany. It’s not only like MotD, not merely about football (soccer) – but F1, tennis, athletics, basketball… in front of a 200+ studio audience.

There’s a plywood ‘wall’ that is a stand in for a goal, with two holes in it, and it’s more or less mandatory for guests to try their luck. Elton John had a go once, decades ago, and Lewis Hamilton was one of the best scorers with four goals out of six tries.

Of course getting Harry on that show was a big thing for Invictus Germany/Foundation, and, as it’s ~ 150 miles between Düsseldorf and Mainz, it’s the only mode of transport for events that are so closely together time wise. The Fail make it sound though as if there’s anything wrong with it.

The games are sponsored by Boeing, and the German airforce has just acquired new Chinook helis, so that’s probably what they’ll be using.

  15. Apple says:

Ahhh. He has gone back to his family’s people. Maybe he can dust off the real last name to truly feel at home.

    Don’t freak out I’m making a joke.

    • booboocita says:

“ZDF Sportstudio is proud to welcome our very special guest, Prinz Heinrich Saxe-Coburg-Gotha!” (Joke!)

      • Apple says:

I was thinking his grandpa. Philip didn’t have a last name he was  “of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderberg-Glücksburg”. I would love to see someone call harry or Charles that. Lol.
