While Joe Jonas filed for divorce in Florida, where he and Sophie Turner had based themselves for a couple of years, it doesn’t sound like Joe and/or Sophie own any real estate in the US at this point. Sophie’s lawsuit included information about how far they had come into their move to the UK, and she genuinely believed that they were going to base their family there for all of this year. Now Sophie and Joe have agreed to a temporary situation which says that neither of them can move their daughters out of the greater New York area. I wondered where Sophie and the kids were staying, a hotel or an Airbnb. Turns out, she’s staying at a friend’s apartment. That friend? Taylor Swift.
It’s nice to have Taylor Swift as a friend, it seems. The superstar singer has been by Sophie Turner’s side ever since the actress’ split from Joe Jonas came to light, taking her to dinner and keeping her entertained amid her bleak breakup. But now Page Six hears that Swift, 33, has even loaned Turner, 27, a stunning apartment in her own downtown New York City neighborhood that the actress and her children can live in while Turner and Jonas get their complex custody arrangements ironed out.
Apparently, the “Shake It Off” songstress keeps a Tribeca pad as an investment property, but has handed the keys to the “Game of Thrones” star as a temporary home. Page Six spies say Turner has been spotted settling into the famously chic hood, checking out some of the local comfort food spots.
On Wednesday, Turner was spotted leaving the apartment with her two daughters and a mystery woman. A folded-up travel crib and two large suitcases were also seen being taken out of the building and put into an awaiting vehicle. Turner helped the little ones get buckled into the SUV before waving goodbye and heading back into the abode.
The British star previously had been staying at a ritzy Midtown hotel with 3-year-old Willa and 1-year-old Delphine.
In 2013/14, Taylor started buying NYC real estate and I’ve never kept track of everything she owns. I know she has that spacious Tribeca apartment – her NYC base – which I think was made out of like two or three apartments. I think she bought some other apartments in the building or somewhere close. It sounds like that’s where Sophie is staying – not in Taylor’s big apartment, but one she keeps as an “investment,” as Page Six says. It’s nice to be friends with one of the richest women in America.

Sometimes one really has to side eye Ms Swift, like when someone taught her about feminism and she took it to mean no woman could ever say anything critical of her / but a lot of the time – it’s like- damn, I love what she is doing with her power.
Love this for Ms Turner and her daughters. Hope it gets settled so she can take them home to England soon.
Watching Republicans shitting their pants over the last few days as Taylor weaponises her army for voter registration – while Travis Kelce promotes vaccines and Bud Light (which had been boycotted by rednecks) – is also a joy to see. The Trumpists are losing their damn minds.
Taylor has done a lot of dumb stuff, but we tend to forget that she was only – what? – 23 or 24 at the height of her 1989 fame and subsequent backlash. She’s 10 years older now and seems to have learned how to use her power for good.
I knew it! I thought, She’s probably staying with Taylor Swift when that piece about selling all their US real estate came out.
Anyway this puts a different perspective on all the people criticizing her for going out. Joe has them part of the time and it’s not that scandalous to pop out for dinner and drinks with your friend who lives in the same building or nearby while your 3 year old and 1 year old are asleep and being tended by a nanny.
Reading this made me remember when some of my friends went through separations/divorce and how much of a difference money makes. One of my friends was in a similar situation: 4-year marriage fell apart, and one young child was caught in the middle. She knew she had to leave but had no financial recourse but to move in with her parents, which was a blessing but also incredibly hard. The stress of the divorce, plus now needing to raise a child on a single salary and desperately wanting some space of her own, genuinely nearly killed her. I really feel for anyone going through something like this; divorce is hard and that much harder when children are at stake, but boy, do money and rich friends help.
Penguin, I hope your friend is now doing okay and has found her footing! Most of the time, my observation is that women wind up poorer than their ex husbands in a divorce. Money really can help with certain challenges there.
I recently looked at a piece on Swift’s real estate, and IIRC, she bought 1 unit, then bought the next-door one and attached those two, and then bought a third unit—not attached but with private garage access.
This explains a lot about why she’s spending a lot of time with Taylor. Plus Joffrey has leaked that the reason he filed was because Sophie made ‘disparaging’ comments about him that he overheard on the Ring doorbell. Who is advising him, as this makes him look like a creepy ass stalker. A creepy ass stalker who couldn’t handle his wife likely venting about his behaviour. If he’s behaving like this in public towards her what was he like behind closed doors.

Digital Unicorn, I saw that ridiculous story earlier today (that ST said mean, mean things about her Ring stalker and he immediately went to file for divorce). She was staying in a hotel—this has to be a better place for her and the children. It also cuts down JJ’s access to her as he can’t just walk into that hotel at any given time or bribe the personnel. He sounds like a nightmare to have been married to.
This reminds me of when Taylor supported Kesha during her legal battle with Dr. Luke.

Well I don’t know which came first: Katy’s Anglophilia, or her hooking up with British guys. Either way she certainly disgusted me when she CURTSIED! twice! to Chuck when she performed at his Conanation. Twice! Apparently she was able to get a room at Windsor Castle (unlike Chuck’s own son). Why did Chuck ask Katy to be ambassador for his British Asian Trust’s Children’s Protection Fund for India, despite her being neither British or Asian you ask? Good question.
I’m glad she has a place to stay, and it belongs to a friend. She has to be reeling from this divorce situation, especially since she thought that right now she’d be in her native country, in a home she and Joe chose, with her kids.
Taylor definitely seems to be generous with her people, giving huge bonuses to the tour drivers etc., letting her friend crash at her place with her kids, etc. Of course she can afford to be, but credit where credit is due. Not all rich people are inclined to give back.
Right, This should be the common expectation of anyone with her amount of wealth yet it so often isn’t. Given that, she does get credit for setting an example. I bet her staff appreciates the hell out of it.
