Prince William updated the Royal Foundation’s trademarks in America

When the Duke and Duchess of Sussex fled the UK and began to rebuild their lives in California, they were unable to simply use all of their “Sussex Royal” branding from the UK. They had to start fresh, which is why they created Archewell, a combination of their businesses and their foundation. Well, guess who also wants to have a charitable presence in America? Copykeen William, whose obsession with America began as soon as his brother moved here. Apparently, William’s office has applied to trademark the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales here in America. The Mail reports that William might also be interested in hosting some “fun runs,” because, you know, he told people that he went jogging in Central Park.

Prince William has prompted speculation he may be planning to host a charity fun run in America after applying for a trademark which includes an usual request for ‘printed race numbers’. The future King, a keen runner who enjoyed an early morning jog in Central Park during his recent visit to New York to promote his Earthshot Prize, submitted an application to the US Patent and Trademark Office on May 12 this year to trademark ‘The Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales.’

The US trademark application, which list the Foundation’s address as ‘Kensington Palace, London’, seeks to trademark the Foundation’s name for ‘promotional campaigning, charitable fundraising, educational activities and healthcare services relating to mental health.’ Intriguingly, it requests to use the trademark for ‘printed matter, banners and posters….in relation to charitable activities in the field of mental health; printed race numbers, clothing, footwear, headgear.’

A lawyer familiar with trademark applications said: ‘It is most unusual to see ‘printed race numbers’ specifically singled out. Normally the language is fairly broad and all-encompassing but for this application to mention race bibs in particular might suggest they are thinking about hosting some sort of race or fun run here in the States?’

The Foundation had a previous trademark application under the name The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate’s titles before the Queen’s death. But that trademark made no mention of printed running bibs.

[From The Daily Mail]

I thought I remembered a similar story years ago, so that makes sense that they’re updating the trademarks with their new titles. I actually think it’s weird that it’s taken them so long to update everything and it’s weird that they have renamed their foundation like five different times. It used to be The Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry, then they added the Sussexes (when Meghan married Harry), then the Sussexes were taken off, and now they’ve renamed it again to reflect their new titles. Surely they should have just stuck with “The Royal Foundation” – simple, clean, to the point. As for the Royal Foundation sponsoring some kind of run in America… lol. I mean, sure, whatever. William is just obsessed with America now.

OMG Kaiser, your photo choices are pure gold.

Pegs is absolutely grotesque in that first picture of him snarling at the women at the table. His outside really does match his inside now. My goodness!

His has got to be the biggest glow-down in history.

    • Brassy Rebel says:

And I thought Halloween wasn’t until the end of the month. That photo will give me nightmares. 🎃👻🫣
(Also the one with Kate. OMG!)

    • Kat says:

His teeth are enough to scare anyone!
      She is ageing very quickly

    The Emperor’s New Clothes

  3. equality says:

Perhaps he wants to be seen cheering on athletes. Sounds familiarly like something someone else does.

    • BayTampaBay says:

Nothing wrong with wanting to cheer on athletes but Peggington needs to do it in the UK or Commonwealth.

A good task would be going to a Commonwealth Country to cheer on a UK soccer team at a World Cup match!

      • goofpuff says:

It’s crazy to me how badly they ignore their own country and commonwealth citizens.

      • Unblinkered says:

Can someone in the frontline UK press please ask why W has excluded the UK and The Commonwealth for this? In newsprint please where it’ll be noticed.
His job is to visit & promote regions of the UK and The Commonwealth, not gadding about the USA wasting his time and Duchy of Cornwall money.

      • Christine says:

It’s insane that they are clearly planning some sort of “fun” run in the U.S.

Willnot, Harry actually went to war, twice, and recognized there was an urgent issue, namely supporting injured service people, which every single country should be ashamed that there was the need in the first place. Kudos to you, Germany, since Invictus Games Dusseldorf lit you on fire. Every country should follow you.

He didn’t just wake up one morning and say, “WHEEEEEEEEE!!!! I need to trademark some numbers and HAVE A RACE!!!!”

But sure, there is a critical need in the U.S. for a fun run. Still not the Commonwealth. Or Wales, specifically.

P.S. The word “fun” should never be used in conjunction with the Wails. It’s a non-starter. No fun for them, ever.

P.P.S. Harry actually lives here, you look like a fool.

    • Lau says:

Can you imagine if he ends up announcing a run for veterans ? I’m sure he would at least try lol.

    • Teddy says:

@Equality – Came here with the same thought. Harry at the Invictus Games makes Bill seethe with jealousy.

  4. Yes Peg wants America. Yes they do change their charity name a lot. Shady businesses do that too. I remember a furniture store in one place constantly had a going out of business sale and then they would change the name of the store but the same people owned it. I believe they got caught in some tax fraud. Yes I know a charity is not taxed but you have to wonder why the name change. They royal cult is not above shady.

    • SussexWatcher says:

It seems like they were/are already doing shady stuff with the money. I’m remembering how clearly Meghan wanted the money earned from the Together cookbook to be separate from the foundation as a whole. So my guess is she got one look at those books and it was clear there’s misappropriation of money going on.

      • Yes I remember that about Meg wanting the money earned from the cook book to go to the women it was intended for. Shady royal cult.

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

Didn’t the Foundation start separating because Meghan pulled the wool from Harry’s eyes over how the money he was bringing in to support his works, and Meghan hers, was being siphoned off into Can’t & Won’t’s charities? The Sussexes were being set up to fail by KP staff under Workshy Wanderdick’s orders. That’s when you started seeing stories crop up about them getting their own counsel separate from the official royal legal team, and the Grenfell Cookbook proceeds were suddenly ringbarked.

  5. Becks1 says:

I mean…….maybe try some of these fun runs in the UK first before bringing them to America? That’s what I think is so weird about his America fascination, there’s no connection between his UK work and his US visits. Like the oysters from his NYC visit – that sounded like a good project, one with a concrete goal, clear progress, etc. Why can’t he implement something similar in the UK? But instead it was all “learning” and then nothing else, so it feels like he just comes here bc he expects to be greeted like a conquering hero and instead there’s indifference.

He wants to have some kind of run…..for charity or whatever, I guess…..but its not like he’s bringing something established from the UK to here.

    • Snaggletooth says:

Thank you! The thought of Wills doing a single additional event in the US is downright bizarre. Under normal circumstances he wouldn’t come back now for a decade! Now he’s obsessed with us?? What changed Willy?

The man does like 120 events max per year and most of those are meetings/phone calls. At least swing by the Commonwealth country to our north the next time youre here!

      • Surly Gale says:

NNNNOOOOOOO no no no no non but thank you merci no mercy please not here please don’t come to Canada, or if you do stay east of the Rockies. OTOH if you do come to BC understand first we are #SussexRoyal fans first.

I know H&M cannot use Sussex Royal, but there’s no reason we can’t, right?

      • Jaded says:

@Surly Gale – yessss!! This is a Wails-free province. They’ve already tainted Victoria with their visit in 2016 and if they come back I’ll be there with my #SussexRoyal Forever! poster!

      • Snaggletooth says:

lol I didn’t mean that as a threat, I swear. I’m just flabbergasted his team couldn’t convince the man to come up with something, anything, slightly more connected to his official royal duties to justify a trip across the pond.

    • Nic919 says:

It’s one thing for rich people to give money to UK royals for whatever they want, but setting up a charity run where they expect regular Americans to donate money to a British charity for health services most Americans don’t get themselves without paying? This makes no sense.

      • Moira's Rose's Garden says:

        THANK YOU!
Medical costs is the top reason for bankruptcy in this county. He needs to pull some of the money out of his own pockets and stay out of North America entirely.

      • Christine says:

Word, Nic. This is so gross.

    • Lauren says:

There are already projects to restore oysters occurring in the UK, Princess Eugenie visited one earlier this year. It really seems like he told his team, find me an environmental project to visit while I’m in NY

      • Becks1 says:

See?? This is exactly what I mean. Had he already visited a similar project in the UK, and then visited this on in NYC, there would be a connection there. Instead its like you said, it just feels like he needed to find some environmental project to justify flying to NYC.

    • Debbie says:

“BEFORE bringing them to America”? Before?! I’m sorry but them’s fightin’ words. Who the heck needs William to bring anything to America? Don’t even suggest that in passing to a person who keeps coming here uninvited each year for no damn good reason. Let him keep his ego-stroking ideas in England, the UK or the commonwealth countries where they belong.

  6. Kristai says:

Why isn’t he doing events in the UK?

    • Truthiness says:

      Or the Commonwealth?

      • Jaded says:

Most of the Commonwealth countries don’t want them to visit, they’re a waste of money and air.

    • Snaggletooth says:

Seriously!!! Sometimes I run this nonsense by my husband and his response to this was, wonder what he’s doing in NY off the record. Meeting with Fox execs? The most likely explanation is obviously Harry but nothing would surprise me at this point.

    • Laura D says:

Exactly Kristai and Truthiness – William is supposed to be the future king of the United Kingdom and Head of State for the Commonwealth. If he planned to do some sort of charity event in Canada it would make more sense. I just don’t understand William’s obsession with “Overseas,” or why his advisers seem to encourage him to travel there. Unless there’s been some recently discovered small print in the Constitution, “Overseas” is a republic and have no wish to be ruled by a monarch. There are plenty of commonwealth countries who need his attention and would also benefit from the future monarch fund-raising on their behalf. Heck, there are homeless, mental health and environmental charities in the UK who are in desperate need of attention and funds. The BRF receive a shed load of money and support from the taxpayers in the UK to represent the country and good causes. I don’t see how a charity fun run in NYC would benefit the UK in the long run?

      • Nic919 says:

The royal foundation is only set up to help the UK so I can’t see Canadians wanting to donate to a British charity when there are Canadian issues to be handled directly.

It makes no sense for any of this to be handled outside of the UK itself.

  7. Pumpkin says:

I’d say maybe he’s just trademarking a bunch of things just for the sake of it but if this is the first time then I am inclined to think he’s actually planning a fun run. In which case: lol.

  8. Kittenmom says:

I hope his royal subjects raise hell that he is going to do charitable endeavors in the US, surely the most deserving country in the commonwealth! 😹

    • Snaggletooth says:

I think we are really seeing William off the leash for the first time this year now that HRM has passed and HOLY COW. How could his subjects not complain? But his judgement is so bad, his impulses so distorted, that he just doesn’t care.

  9. Snuffles says:

Hey U.K., come get your Prince. He crashed our party even though he wasn’t invited. He commandeered the keg, slapped a Union Jack sticker on it then yelled “I claim this in the name of the future King!”. Proceeded to get completely plastered, started shadow boxing while screaming “I’m the sexiest most stateliest Prince of the realm! Not that ginger bastard!” Now he’s locked himself in our bathroom, rage masturbating while mumbling “that bloody American.”

We’re this close to calling the police!

  10. girl_ninja says:

“Surely they should have just stuck with “The Royal Foundation” – simple, clean, to the point.”

They should have but it’s another way to copy the Sussexes style:
Archewell | Shared Purpose. Global Action. Founded by The Duke & Duchess of Sussex

He not only wants America but what Harry has. Period.

It’s a sickness with Peg and he’s just getting sicker.

  11. Mslove says:

Shouldn’t Pegs be sponsoring a fun run in his own country? The peasants aren’t paying him to sow his wild oats in the states.

    • girl_ninja says:

Right?!?! It’s just so obvious that he’s obsessed with trying to best his younger, better brother that he’ll do anything except actual work in HIS country.

  12. SussexWatcher says:

They definitely should have just gone with The Royal Foundation because he’s going to have to rename it again soon if they get divorced. The Royal Foundation of Lord Egg, King of the Pegs, Single and Ready to Mingle, and the Most Statesmanny Statesman who ever Ran with Hoards of People but was Never Seen.

  13. ML says:

Does he have a close, personal relationship with an American?

    • SussexWatcher says:

It’s really starting to seem that way. Perhaps it’s just another in a long line of ways he trying to copy Harry. Keen McButtons, out; hardworking beautiful American wife, in.

    • Amy Bee says:

      Yeah, Bloomberg.

    • Cairidh says:

His alleged current girlfriend is Svetlana Ignatiev, COO of Flora & Fauna. She used to work in America, I think it was New York. Maybe she goes back on work trips. And She probably wants to go to the Earthshot thing as she’s into saving the environment. Maybe it was founded to impress her, or was her idea.

    • LynnInTx says:

      Knauf.

    • AC says:

I remembered reading a couple years ago in one of the gossip magazines that William had a crush with an American student at St Andrew’s but she pretty much rejected his advances. Was that true? Her name happened to be also Megan.

  14. Jais says:

Stay away from America. Focus on your own country. Do a fun run through Windsor or something.

  15. Southern Fried says:

This fool is no runner. I laugh every time I hear about his pretend run in Central Park. Willy and Kate are such losers and their press just empathizes the fact.

  16. MsIam says:

The Wails Fun Run! Its going to be bigger than the Boston Marathon and the New York Marathon combined! Its going to be the Nobel Peace Prize of marathons, fun runs, 5ks in the whole entire planet! So there! Said Pegs.

  17. anotherlily says:

I don’t understand William’s face. There was a time, around 12 – 15 years ago when he looked like Ben Fogle, the actor. Ben Fogle is still a nice looking man. His face is the same shape. William’s face is now a drastically different shape – pear shape. He now looks like the cartoon character Wallace from Wallace and Gromit.

    • Jaded says:

OMG you’re right!! He DOES look like Wallace!!

    • BlueNailsBetty says:

      1. The Windsor genes are coming out and finally showing on his face.

      2. He’s got more muscle now than when he was younger. When that happens, face muscles tend to get bigger, too.

      3. The man probably clinches his jaws 24/7/365 and that would change the muscle size and shape of his face.

      4. Ghost Diana is snatching her looks from him and telling him if he’s going to act like Charles then he can look like Charles.

    • bisynaptic says:

What you’re saying is that his face has gone pear-shaped. 😂

    • Debbie says:

I still can’t unsee Quagmire with William’s ever widening jawline, but Wallace is a very close second.

  18. Eurydice says:

Fun runs and walks for this or that aren’t the most efficient way to raise money. The charity has to get major sponsors to underwrite the expenses and then get entry fees from those participating in the run – much more efficient to just call the big donors and get the money directly. These kinds of events are mostly to publicize the charity.

It’s hard for me to believe that there are people in the US who’d want to run a 5K to support The Royal Foundation of the Prince of Wales and I don’t think US corporations would sponsor something like that, either. But if it’s about Earthshot, then maybe – they already have US corporate sponsorship and people might participate if it’s about the environment.

    • Liz says:

Could it be possible they updated the name so people running for charity in the NY Marathon (next year, for example) could run for “Earthshot” through their charity? No clue who would run on one of these teams, but it would take advantage of an existing run instead of him setting up something new…

      • Eurydice says:

It’s possible. The cut off date for entering as a charity for this year’s marathon was September 12th. They would have to wait for the spring to register for the next. Most of the current charities are US non profits that serve the US, but there are some that serve people in other countries. My curiosity ended at checking if they were also incorporated in the US. Maybe Earthshot can register – it’s an ok idea, but I don’t see how it would generate much income – they’d have to pay a big chunk to enter. It seems like an excuse for William to visit NYC again.

  19. aquarius64 says:

This is pathetic. It’s all I got.

  20. Over it says:

Kaiser, your photo choices took me out . That one with him next to Kate when she is in the red jacket. I am dead . 😀😀😀😀

  21. Amy Bee says:

It was also the Royal foundation of Prince William and Prince Harry before William married Kate. I don’t think anything will come of this new trademark application. It sounds like it’s just a name change. They would be better off doing a fun run in the UK.

    • Libra says:

A fun run in the U.K. is more appropriate, I agree. Charity begins at home, William. And please stay home.

  22. Renae says:

I think he’s trying to get Taylor Swift to notice him.

  23. Marivic says:

William never ran in Central Park. No single photo from anyone who was supposedly there. The proof of the pudding is in the eating. For Gallup Poll and YouGov most popular person, no one took interest in snapping a picture of him. This is all fiction and British propaganda. William is not popular in America — fact.

  24. Mary Pester says:

Incandescent jealousy, thy name is William. THIS is the way he wants to take everything from Megan and Harry, THIS is what he has done his whole life, he wants NOTHING UNLESS HARRY HAS IT. the USA is not part of the commonwealth, so why In the US, because Harry is happy and thriving in the US. How long before he has a serf email Harry and say “America is mine Harry”!!?the man is pathetic and transparent. I hope Harry and Megan are very careful in everything they do now, because it’s not just the UK sht rags that will do everything they can to destroy Harry and Megan, but now William is making moves stateside as well!! No William, I don’t believe you did go for a run in Central Park, your security would have stood out a mile, even though most people would just have thought “who’s the pug ugly dude running and flashing his ginormous teeth at everyone, do they know he’s escaped yet?”
And yes, the foundation is shady as hell, just like his earth sht, and just like every one of his father’s.

    • Minnieder says:

Do they know he’s escaped yet?
      🤣🤣🤣

    • Debbie says:

You’re not kidding about William wanting whatever Harry has. I’m reminded of the videos of them as kids and William wanting to hold the puppy because Harry had the puppy, or William not wanting to go somewhere with his mother until she says that Harry will have all the fun then. Only in those days, one says he’s only a child and his sudden about-face in wanting to do something just because Harry gets to do it is normal for some children but when this grown man still hasn’t outgrown this tendency, that’s when it’s sad.

  25. Jaded says:

Charity begins at home Pegs. America doesn’t want you poncing around interfering in important global events with REAL global statesmen and women. Furthermore, most Commonwealth countries couldn’t give a rat’s posterior about you and your stick figure wife either. All respect for the BaRF died with the Queen. Do something useful back in the UK like maybe ensuring your people have enough to eat, a roof over their heads, well paying jobs, decent health care, affordable education, you know…all the things you and your grifting family get FOR FREE.

  26. Iz_Q says:

A “fun run”…..like quite a few people have already commented on “X” (fka Twitter) that is a direct rip-off of Crown Prince Frederik’s Royal Run in Denmark. Period. I read apparently the trademark would include amongst other things “racing #s”. And BTW we already have quite a few fun runs in the US in the way of marathons that are quite well known the world over.

    • Lauren says:

I remember wondering if William was going to try and copy CP Frederik’s Royal Run but it just seemed too weird. Speaking of the Danish Royals getting very excited for Prince Christian’s 18th birthday gala especially now that the Norwegian Royals have confirmed Princess Ingrid Alexandra is attending

  27. Wannabefarmer says:

Sigh. Does this man understand that the United States of America is not part of the commonwealth? Why is he suddenly so interested in America? Why not a commonwealth country? Canada right next door. Hello.

I’ve said this before and will say again, he did not want an American woman in his family so he didnt just drive her out of his family, he drove her out of his country. I suspect if he had his way it would have been her and her biracial son alone b/c there would have been no Lili, and he and his clan could have just pretended they didn’t exist.

The only reason Meghan and Harry continue to be hounded is that Harry chose to protect his family and left with them. This is fundamentally why they are mad at Meghan because they think its her fault he left, not that they did anything that warranted his leaving. I mean werent they supposedly ‘still confused’ about why he left when he want back for his grandfather’s funeral? Anyway, I digress, back to willy and America. He thinks little of Americans, looks down on them. So the obvious question is why does he keep coming? He needs to be made to feel very unwelcome whenever he sets foot into the country. There should be signs that say, ‘this is Meghan’s country’, youre about as welcome here as she was in yours/your family, get the f out’

  28. QuiteContrary says:

Go away, William. No one wants you here.

  29. Layla says:

I really hope our friends across the pond have more courage and a backbone to tell Keen Incandescent Other Brother to f*ck off more than we seem to be struggling to do here in the U.K.

  30. Heather says:

It’s interesting that after we fought a war to be free of the crown, now it comes begging, crown in hand, for money from regular Americans? Stay home Peg.

  31. Patricia says:

This sad little man is determined to fail at everything he tries. His obsession with H&M will be his eventual downfall. I always knew he was thick as two planks (thank you Diana) but what really makes me happy is that “they” always tried to make people believe it about Harry. But now the whole world can see who the really dumb one is. And the pitiful thing about it is he doesn’t know how thick he is. It’s almost criminal to enjoy his flop tendencies in front of a worldwide audience.

  32. Beverley says:

It’s almost painful to watch this insecure, jealous man attempting to compete with his more accomplished, more intelligent brother. He must wake up in a terrible funk each morning knowing that even though he’s the Future King, Harry is the genuinely more talented and adored brother.

  33. Saucy&Sassy says:

Well, if he’s so ill-advised as to hold some type of run here, there will be endless people to tell everyone that the money goes to the UK. Does he understand that will impact the success of a run? Truly, we have charities here that people can donate to, so why would we donate to the UK charities?

I know that American money is behind just about everything KFC and Wont does here. Wont needs to stick with the rich and leave the rest of us out of it here in the US.

    • Debbie says:

Just imagine having this guy come all the way over here, just to tie up traffic! (And have us pay for it too, aw, hell no.)

  34. AC says:

Reading @kaiser blog yesterday “William isn’t really interested in becoming a global statesman…as much as he’s interested in hanging out in America or hanging out with Americans”.
I made a joking comment a few weeks ago that it seems he wants to live here part of the year. And that somehow lately they’re literally putting the US in the middle. Now I’m not kidding. His obsession with the US is being accelerated. I mean having visited the UK a couple times in the early 2000s I know there’s always been a love-hate obsession of the US but this is pretty intense(like a fatal attraction type of relationship).
Trying to brown nose powerful US CEOs and being part of their SM feeds, trying to get their foot somehow into US and California politics.

  35. Norvell says:

Seeing that William didn’t want Harry to marry an “AMERICAN actress”, one would wonder why he felt the need to come to America at all. It’s a shame he seems to follow closely what Harry does; it’s as if Harry’s accomplishments bother him.

  36. Well Wisher says:

It seems just like standard operating practice in the event of a change, so why the press release? Weird.

    • BeanieBean says:

Even weirder is that the trademark application was apparently made in May; why wait so long to report on it?

  37. Feeshalori says:

William is the proverbial bad penny, he keeps turning up. He needs to concentrate on his own country and the Commonwealth nations for his zealous endeavors and leave America out of it. I hope everything he attempts here in our country tanks in the most embarrassing way for him.

  38. Angie says:

Something is going on with William and it’s not just about Harry. Who is he trying to impress? What he is doing doesn’t make since as many of you stated. Why all of sudden showing interest in America. The questions is what is he trying to prove? Or better yet to Whom? Hmmm!

    • anotherlily says:

I think this relates to the ‘summit’ with Charles at Balmoral. It was reported as a high level meeting to set a new agenda for the Wales’s which included making best use of Kate’s ‘star power’. The way things are working out with Kate it looks like she and her ‘star power’ are being sidelined and the focus is on promoting William as a serious international statesman figure.

It isn’t just Harry who presents a challenge to William’s ambitions. It’s the presence of other European Princes and Princesses who are direct heirs like William. They attract favourable international attention. Crown Prince Frederick of Demark and Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden are the nearest equivalents to William. Similar age, married to a non-aristocrat and with young children. They both outranked William in the seating placement at the royal wedding in Jordan. Prince Frederick was in New York at the same time as William and he was there to speak at the UN Assembly and represent Denmark in meetings with the Security Council. Frederick also took part in an organised fun run in Central Park. As an international statesman William is a non-starter.

      • Angie says:

Yeah, He seems like such a light weight compared to Harry. I just don’t understand why he has to compete with Harry. The competition only draws comparisons Why can’t this guy just be happy for his brother. Harry has achieved so much and has shown the world what a caring empathetic person he is. They are moving in different directions in their lives yet this guy can’t let go.

  39. Alexandria says:

Oh gosh stick to your own UK Pegs! Aren’t you the most popular there? Your friends said so.

  40. Tessa says:

The photograph where he looks like he’s bellowing at the runners. And there are no photos of his run in central park.
