The ATX TV Festival will host a ‘Suits’ reunion next year, will Meghan go?

It’s absolutely wild that the biggest hit show of the year was a cable show which ended four years ago. Suits was popular in its day, and it ran for eight years, between 2011 through 2019. Suits arrived on Peacock and Netflix this year and it became the most-watched, most-streamed show over the summer, appearing at Nielsen’s Streaming #1 for twelve weeks. People have watched 45 billion minutes of Suits this year, and even now, Suits is at #2 on the streaming viewership, just behind The Fall of the House of Usher. I don’t think people understand how rare this phenomenon really is – this isn’t Friends, which was a huge, hit show in real time and then became a hit show years later on streaming. While Suits had a good audience in its day, it was nothing like this. Well, the ATX TV Festival is preparing their 2024 lineup, and they’re going to reunite the cast of Suits.

The ATX TV Festival is beginning to roll out its programming for Season 13. The event, taking place May 30-June 2 in Austin, Texas, will include both “Suits” and “Halt and Catch Fire” reunions.

The creatives and cast of “Suits” will get back together, marking five years since the series finale. The legal drama has had a resurgence in popularity over the summer after it became available on Netflix and Peacock, spending 12 consecutive weeks at the top of the Nielsen Streaming Top 10 chart and has crossed 45 billion minutes viewed.

Creator Aaron Korsh and cast members Patrick J. Adams, Sarah Rafferty and Dulé Hill are confirmed, with more to be announced soon. The USA series also starred Gabriel Macht, Abigail Spencer, Rick Hoffman and Meghan Markle — the latter whom commented on the show’s “wild” recent popularity when speaking to Variety at our Power of Women event on Thursday. “It was great to work on, such a great cast and crew. We had a really fun time. I was on it for seven seasons, so quite a bit,” she said. “But it’s hard to find a show you can binge-watch that many episodes of these days, so that could have something to do with it. But good shows are everlasting.”

There’s been a lot of seething and Britsplaining about the Suits streaming phenomenon, but it’s perfectly clear that the Duchess of Sussex is a HUGE part of the resurgence in interest. While I think it’s bigger than Meghan, she’s a major factor and it would so, so cool if she came to this reunion. Fingers crossed! If Patrick Adams is going, I could see Meghan being talked into it. They’re buds.

Either way I am looking forward to it.

  2. I hope she does too. I doubt it will be announced because I’d security reasons. She will probably just show up to it. But who knows with the derangers out there. They could stake the place it’s happing out. I truly hope it’s possible for her to be a part of it.

Either they announce it or not, there’s going to be a big crowd at that festival just in case she’s coming. I love that regular people give the BRF and their rota rats the finger with our watching and listening habits. First it was the Opera interview the rats claimed no one would watch. Then came Archetypes no one would listen to. Next was their docu-series and heart of Invictus and let’s not forget their books. No one would by Meghan’s childrens book and Harry’s Spare according to the rats. The Suites streeming success is just the icing on the cake. I love it for them♥️

I went to the Gilmore Girls one in Austin a few years ago and security was…lacking, to say the least. My friend and I were able to get into the press pen simply by not making eye contact with anyone and acting like we belonged there— we had no credentials whatsoever and weren’t asked for any. 😂 It was WILD while it lasted. (Although we were not there to freaking *harm* anyone, which unfortunately would not be the case with Meghan.)

Anyway, the British media will send a TON of stalkers, so even though the theater where they usually hold the biggest event has a back entrance, it would be difficult to sneak Meghan around, IMO. The weekend’s events are all pretty much concentrated within a few city blocks, and AFAIK they don’t have ways for VIPs to get around underground like the Sussexes did in NY.

ITA with everyone who says that Meghan’s attendance won’t be announced in advance either way. If she does go, my guess would be that she’d only go to the “big” reunion panel (held on the Saturday night of the weekend) that all of the actors/producers attend, that they’d try to slip her in the back entrance right before it started, and then get her out again quickly, while the audience is still seated, before they even open the doors to let anyone out.

There are lots of events scattered all over in different venues throughout the weekend, and it was super hectic. The staff couldn’t find our tickets even though my friend had pre-ordered them months in advance, and although she paid for the highest-level tickets, we still got shut out of events that were included with our tickets because they were SO disorganized.

While we did end up having fun because it became impossible not to laugh at how poorly the whole thing was run, and we didn’t really care all that much about going to anything except the one big reunion on Saturday night, I have to admit the festival itself was a shitshow. Hopefully they’ve learned more each year and it’s gotten better by now.

IMO our best hope of seeing M is at that Saturday night event. (Which, IIRC, they streamed online, so hopefully we’ll still get to see it either way.)

PS If any Celebitches are planning to go, my one tip is to stay at the Four Seasons if at all possible because that’s where most of the actors and writers stayed, so we got to see and talk to them there way more than we did at any of the official events, and they were all more relaxed.

(Luckily for us, the hotel fcked up enough things during our stay, including giving us a room with a broken bed— the bed was literally leaning on the floor, it was so ridiculous — so they gave us a full refund for our entire stay after we got home. I never would have been able to afford to stay there in the first place; it was a birthday gift from the friend I went with. If you just sit in the lobby long enough, you’ll probably see everyone at least once!)

      • BeanieBean says:

Excellent insider knowledge! And I don’t what year you went, but I would hope they’re better at organizing this thing now!

  3. Amy Bee says:

I hope she goes but I suspect that if she does it won’t be announced beforehand.

  4. Kristen from MA says:

I’d love for her to go, but I can see her declining so as to not overshadow the rest of the cast.

    • Ariel says:

Overshadowing is such tabloid speak. Her being there would create a halo effect for the whole thing and everyone in involved. Otherwise A listers would never go to movie premiers so they don’t overshadow the rest of the cast. Hollywood doesn’t work like that. The more publicity the better

  5. Snuffles says:

I believe she will make every effort to be there but it won’t be announced ahead of time.

    • Mary Pester says:

@Snuffles I agree, meghan will go, to support the friends she made as much as anything else, but she won’t announce it, she will turn up just like she did with Harry at the hockey game. I’m so looking forward to the screams coming from the palaces, bless their sick twisted little hearts

      • Robert Phillips says:

I don’t think she will be there. To much security risk. But she might zoom in. I could see her doing that.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Robert Phillips, I agree. She can easily zoom and be part of the reunion that way. I don’t think she would want to overshadow the rest of the cast and the security issue is very real.

  6. girl_ninja says:

I would love to see her there. Fingers crossed on this one.

  7. s808 says:

Would love for her to go! I agree with everyone else though, it won’t be announced if she does plan to attend.

  8. BlueNailsBetty says:

I’d love for her and Harry to come to Austin if only because it’s a great town. Chill, laid back, fun, and a great food and music scene.

  9. Kittenmom says:

I think doing a zoom appearance or video segment would be a good way to balance security issues and showing love to the fans.

  10. Concern Fae says:

I don’t know how much of it was Meghan. It was all over my Twitter feed, but they would just mention “I had no idea she was so good,” and then go on about Gina Torres or whichever pair of male characters they were shipping.

Could also be that she wasn’t talked about because of all the garbage that comes with saying nice things about Meghan on Twitter.

  11. JJ says:

I hope she goes or at least can Zoom in.

  12. Ariel says:

I hope they give her a bunch of options.
Come to Austin the week before with Harry and the kids – have a mini vaca, do some charity work then send the family home and participate.
    Or
Pop in for one panel (public)
    Or
    Zoom in
    Or
Participate in a cast/producer round table that we tape in LA- or just the women/women’s roles on the show

I feel like there are a lot of options – if she wants to.

I hope she has enough distance from salt island to be like – no matter what I do- they’ll criticize it, so F them

  13. Jas says:

I hope Meghan and Patrick still talk! He went absolutely OFF on the monarchy via Twitter when that BS “Meghan is a bully” story came out, and while I agree with everything he said (And loved every second of it!!!), he wasn’t afraid of calling them racist and I always wondered if that affected their friendship.
