Last week, I made the lead link in the afternoon links post “Cardi B & Offset unfollowed each other on Instagram, are they splitting?” The reason I haven’t devoted a stand-alone post to any of this Cardi-Offset drama is that longtime Cardi fans have been here many times before. At least once a year, Cardi and Offset have a fight or she catches him cheating or she just gets tired of looking at him and they’re “over.” They stay broken up for a week or two and then they get back together. Well, we’re in another cycle. I’ve seen it all before – they’ll be back together by Christmas, but here’s the latest:
Cardi B has confirmed her single status in the wake of rumors about her relationship with Offset. The rapper, 31, got candid on Instagram Live over the weekend as she admitted, “I’ve been single for a minute now,” according to a recording of the livestream shared on X (formerly known as Twitter).
She continued, “But I have been afraid… Not afraid, I just don’t know how to tell the world. But I feel like today has been, like, a sign.”
Cardi B said she wants to start the new year “fresh” and “open,” as she admitted, “I’m curious for a new life, for a new beginning. And yeah… I’m excited.”
The relationship status update comes after the couple both attended the same event on Sunday night — TikTok In the Mix music festival in Mesa, Arizona — but were not photographed together. Representatives for the two rappers did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
Cardi also said that she wants to “drop the dead weight” for the new year. Sure. She says all kinds of sh-t during their breakups. Once, she even filed for divorce. She still went back to him. She always does. Now, this is me preparing myself for it, it’s not wishful thinking on my part. I would love nothing more than seeing Cardi really and truly break up with Offset and for the split to stick. What happens is that Offset always finds a way to worm his way back, and he’s not above using her friends and family to work on his behalf. As I said, they’ll be back together by Christmas, mark my words.

at this point, it’s shit or get off the pot. if having two kids and being married doesn’t stop you from breaking up regularly, you gotta admit the relationship doesn’t work.
I would think the back and forth would be confusing for the kids but they’re young and used to their parents being gone for periods of time due to tours and events, so maybe not.
They’ve been together for years and have two kids. Plus, her support network is crap and working against her. It’s taking Cardi longer than we’d like to get out of a bad relationship, but she’s clearly trying. I hope this time sticks, but if it doesn’t I hope it’s the next one. What she’s doing isn’t easy, especially with nobody in her corner.
When you’re financially responsible for a lot of the people in your family, you can’t trust their judgment on most matters in your life.
Tbh, I think this is setting a bad example for her kids. Yes they are young but they will still internalise this mess.
Hope this break up sticks and she moves on alone for a while. It would be good for her and those babies who have seen enough parental back-and-forth to induce whiplash.

I find Cardi SO fascinating as she is clearly growing and evolving as a person. And she’s long since outgrown Offset and his trifling ways.
I love Cardi and she can do so much better than Offset. She’s a star, he just feels like a hanger-on at this point. And it feels like he repeatedly cheats to hurt and manipulate her, because it’s the only way he feels “bigger” than her. It feels like he does it just to hurt her because she’s flying high in literally every other way; cheating is his way of “humbling” her and telling her he’s “in charge.” She can 100 percent do better than that scum.
This makes the most sense.
Crossing fingers and chanting please make him go away! She is beautiful, smart, seems like a sweet person and fun friend. She can have any hot guy in the world. She doesn’t need this extra weight.
