Carey Mulligan wore Armani to the SAG Awards, and I saw many people highlighting this as one of their favorites of the night or one of the best of the night. Eh. Don’t get me wrong, it’s pretty and flattering and I love that she went for a more “mainstream” look with Armani. But I think people are just reacting to that – she’s rarely in a relatively simple column dress in a color other than black. The gold was a good choice though! She does look very good.
Jessica Chastain also wore Armani. There’s this thing where, for the year or two after an actress has had a really successful awards season, they show up to present awards and they wear the most boring “don’t pay attention to me” styles ever. That’s where we are with Jessica – this is her “I’m just here as a presenter, I’m not trying to get attention” look.
Selena Gomez wore Versace – honestly, one of the best looks I’ve seen on Selena in a long time. She often goes too cutesy or with styles which aren’t flattering for her curvy figure. This is va-va-voom, adult-woman styling. It’s good to remember that when you have a bigger bust, this is a very flattering style.

Carey Mulligan’s dress is beautiful-but her hair color is totally washing her out. Jessica Chastain-at first I thought it was buccal fat removal-but now I’m thinking it’s also because she looks like she’s lost a lot of weight (and she was slender before-but she’s looking really waif like here.)
Her hair color AND the dress color. It’s a beautiful dress and that color would look amazing on someone else. On her… I’ve never seen her look so ill.
She used to have reddish brown hair before the Hollywood glow up. It added life to her face.
I’m starting to think color season analysis might not be a total crock of sh:t. All these women would look better in different colors. Selena not so much in the white but she needs a darker lip for contrast.
Regarding Jessica’s face looking different, it’s not buccal fat removal, it’s that’s she’s had eye lid and brow lift surgery over and over again. She used to have low-hanging,droopy eyebrows – now completely high arched. Plus she’s had a lot of botox.
However, it’s the eyelid surgery that is dramatically changing people’s faces, sometimes aging them. Look at Juno Temple before and after (!!!).
Jessica looked a bit tired. Don’t know if she was not feeling well or other things were going on. Hope she is doing okay.
And for the comment on eye work, in my experience an eye lift at a certain age can really make you look a lot less tired LOL, so maybe you are referencing eye surgery for something other than droopy lids?

I agree! I opened the story and truly dropped my jaw in awe. There are so many amazing factors here, with her hair colour being almost the same as the dress, the shimmer of the fabric is breathtaking and the fabric design at the waist is so neat, almost like it is defying gravity. What a gorgeous dress and I think she looks gorgeous. Also love her hair style / cut.
I fell all the way in love with the way the lights hit her dress and matched her hair color. That and the minimalist make-up and jewelry…I love all of it.
This is the best I’ve ever seen her look! This dress is mesmerizing and flatters her perfectly! I like her hair too. I’ve always thought that she really needs a bit more eye makeup (lashes, liner, and brows) and a bit deeper lip color to avoid her looking washed out. I’m happy for her that this was one of the most beautiful dresses of the night! I also loved Brie, Penelope, and Jessica.
Totally agree, I rarely like to give Armani credit but they nailed this look. She’s one of the best of the night. The fabric, draping, accessories just perfection.
The design of Carey’s dress has to be simple. What’s spectacular is the fabric and the way it’s used – like molten metal. Perfectly chosen, cut and draped – nothing bunching or wrinkling or puckering – really masterful.

Carey was definitely a fave of mine. The dress is not as simple as it looks. The construction and draping is immaculate. And that’s something that Armani does well. If you’re going to do simple – it better be IMMACULATE. And this was. It looks like pure molten liquid
Absolutely, draping is a textile art and this is technically not ‘simple’. The choice of fabric is also so important. Margot wore some draped dresses for the Barbie junket where the fabric was just too thin for the garment didn’t work. You can also have amazing draping work that requires a thinner fabric (like Zendaya’s famous wet look dress) but that was not the case here.
Carey, who looked AMAZING, told Laverne Cox on the red carpet that she had had a “wardrobe malfunction” so this was her fallback option??? I wonder if this Armani was originally planned as her Oscar dress. I’m also now especially curious about what she’ll wear to the actual Oscars ceremony.
Overall I thought SAG women killed it hands down. Carey was the highlight but Brie Larson, Penelope Cruz and others were also slamming.
