Jason Kelce’s wife Kylie says she felt ‘ease and bliss’ at their wedding

Kylie and Jason Kelce are so darn cute. They met via Tinder back in late 2014 and got married in April 2018. They’ve told the story of their first date several times now. Kylie met Jason at a bar where the Eagles were having a team holiday party. Jason had already been drinking when she got there and ended up getting so drunk during the date itself that he fell asleep and had to be carried out of the bar by his teammate Beau Allen. Still, Kylie gave him a second date, and the rest is history. During his retirement speech earlier this week, Jason gave Kylie a huge, loving, and emotional shout out. In return, Kylie did an interview with People where she chatted about their wedding and her favorite memories from that day. Cue the “awws.”

When it comes to her favorite wedding memory, Kylie Kelce can’t choose just one!

When asked about her nuptials to husband Jason Kelce, the mom of three, 31, revealed she has a few favorite moments from their special day. The first being when she felt “terrified” before stepping out in front of everyone at the ceremony. But upon seeing her NFL star husband, 36, Kylie says her fear melted away.

“I know personally my favorite wedding memory is when I was getting ready to walk down the aisle,” she recalls to PEOPLE about their 2018 nuptials. “I was terrified not because I was about to get married but because everyone was going to be staring at me.”

Kylie says she “had worked up this sort of anticipation,” but seeing the football player waiting for her at the altar changed everything.

“As soon as our wedding planner opened the door and I could see Jason, it was as if all of the worries melted away,” she says. “So I was like, ‘Oh I just have to get to him. I can do that.’ “

“So that was like a memory where I really remember that overall feeling of ease and bliss,” she adds.

Kylie’s second favorite memory? Sitting at their sweetheart table — a small table designated exclusively for the newlyweds — at the reception. She tells PEOPLE sitting at the table with Jason was a “really special time.”

“It’s really the only time where you get to sit down and sort of catch up with each other because you’re running in opposite directions most of the day,” she explains. “Which seems counterintuitive on your wedding day, but you do get sort of split up.”

“So we loved sitting down and having dinner just the two of us,” she adds.”

Oh, I totally get what she means about being terrified that everyone was looking at her, though. That was something I was really nervous about on my wedding day, too. But like Kylie, all those nerves floated away the minute I started walking down the aisle, and I too felt the nerves melt away. The sweetheart table thing is also nice because it does give you a moment of one-on-one connection during an otherwise insane day.

Like I said, Kylie and Jason are so freaking adorable together. You can tell that they’re both genuinely crazy about each other, too. After hearing so much about that disastrous first date, it’s a nice change of pace to hear about one of the best moments in their relationship. I’m a person who absolutely loves going to weddings, and I bet theirs was a really fun one. I’d love it if they’d share some crazy reception stories next.

I maintain that the best thing about Travis and Taylor is me learning about Jason kelce and Kiley. They’re delightful!

    • Lilly (with the double-L) says:

@Miranda aww. I wouldn’t have otherwise known, either. They are so sweet and genuine.

    • Hexicon says:

Agreed! I would never had heard of either Kelce if it weren’t for Taylor (I sort of remember Travis’s stunt at the presidential podium). Mama and Papa Kelce did it right with these boys. Jason is really smart and funny–I think he has a future not just as a sports presenter but as an all-around television personality.

Very cute. That’s just how it should be!

  3. Carol says:

The entire Kelse family seems so incredibly sweet, and how they all interact with each other should be relationship goals everywhere. The love between each member is palpable. Kylie is just awesome and seems a perfect match for Jason. They are a breath of fresh air these days.

+1. And you can tell Kylie isn’t into it for the wrong reasons, no big jewelry, no expensive clothes and her prized christmas gift was a Transformers robot from Jason. If her friend – who took her to Milan – was trying to get her an outfit for Jason’s retirement speech, it failed miserably because she wore clothes you could mow the lawn in.

They are so adorable; I just watched their Amazon Prime documentary.

I don’t care about Football, but he will make a great broadcaster if that is what his next career step is. He is so affable and charming.

And maybe I am projecting a bit too much. But Kylie and Taylor look a lot alike…

Let me be that cynical person in the comments section but if he was not a football player she would have never given him a second date after him getting drunk on the first date.

      That’s just not true.

I’m a lifelong Eagles fan, and Kylie is a genuine Philly woman — no-B.S. She did say she told her friends that going on a single date with an Eagles player would be hilarious — for the stories, not the prestige — but she agreed to a second date because she and Jason had already shared details about the things that were important to them (like having kids).

As Truthiness points out above, Kylie went to Jason’s retirement presser dressed like I’d dress for the supermarket, even though she knew there’d be zillions of cameras there. She’s a former athlete herself, and just not into status-y stuff. That’s why she preferred sitting in the stands during Jason’s games, not in fancy suites.

I love the shenanigans between these two. She’s not afraid to call her husband out from off camera when Jason’s trying to mess with her, and it makes Travis howl with laughter. It’s a nice break from a fractured world where there’s sh*tty news everywhere you look.

My favorite was when Jason told Kylie that he would be up soon to help with the girls’ bedtime after they finished two things and then told Travis to drag out the two things as long as possible, laughing when a shoe came flying toward him!
