Andrew Garfield is dating ‘luxury witch’ Dr. Kate Tomas, an ‘educated magickal practitioner’

Earlier this week, headlines blew up about Andrew Garfield and his new girlfriend, described as a “professional witch.” Andrew and Dr. Kate Tomas were photographed getting touchy feely during a grocery store run. They were also apparently “getting cozy” during a double date with singer Phoebe Bridgers and comedian Bo Burham. According to US Weekly, Andrew and Dr. Kate are still in the early days of their relationship, but he loves her sense of humor and “really appreciates the fact that Kate is very different from other women he’s dated.”

So who is this professional witch? She’s a “magickal practitioner” who founded and runs a program that teaches “spiritual practices” called Foundations of Energy Mastery. She also has an online store in which she refers to herself as a “luxury witch.” Dr. Kate’s witchy reputation must really intrigue the tabloids because Us Weekly gave her the whole introductory profile treatment, listing five things to know about Andrew’s new lady. Here you go:

1. She’s a ‘Spiritual’ Mentor According to her website, Tomas is “one of the most highly educated and sought after magickal practitioners in the world” and has created a “spiritual apprenticeship” at the age of 19.

2. She’s Located in England: Tomas’ work was originally based in Glastonbury, England.

“I began offering tarot readings and soon had a waiting list and people coming to see me in my tiny room above a crystal shop in Glastonbury, from all over the world,” her website reads. “Large corporations sought me out, and I began a successful career advising multinational brands, from TV networks, through to hedge-funds.”

Tomas noted that she’s “a trusted advisor to governments” and “CEOs of banks,” and offers love and relationship advice.

3. She’s Highly Educated: She has a Masters degree in Philosophy of Religion and a Doctoral Degree in Philosophical Theology, both from the University of Oxford.

4. She’s an Author: Tomas wrote the book Chakra Crystals: Promote Balance and Self-Healing Through Crystal Meditations, which was released in October 2019. The book “presents [Tomas’] remarkable meditation-based healing techniques for personal empowerment,” per its description.

5. She’s a Business Owner: Aside from her spiritual work, Tomas also owns Ouroboros Limited Editions. The brand sells “sacred, powerful, true magickal talismans made from vintage gold, by the Luxury Witch,” according to its Instagram bio.

[From Us Weekly]

I mean, to go from civilian spiritual advisor to a “Five Things to Know” profile in Us Weekly… what a way to hard launch a relationship, #amirite?! I find it so interesting that piece was done so soon after they started dating, especially since Andrew generally keeps his personal life pretty private. That said, I wonder how they met! Like, was Andrew a client or did they meet through friends? Maybe an app? Did he one day google “luxurious witches” and somehow came across the Luxury Witch herself and then slide into her DMs? Dr. Kate has also been around in the Hollywood scene for a little while. People reports that some of her clients have included Megan Mullally and Lena Dunham. She certainly sounds like a fascinating woman.

But really, I just really want to know what “trusted advisor to governments” entails. Does she go to 10 Downing Street and read the lettuce leaves? Or are we talking heavier sh-t, like she’s got her crystals in the room where the big decisions happen? We need a more in depth piece on that. Inquiring minds want to know.

I gotta be honest, “Luxury Witch” sounds like a dream job, but when combined with “trusted advisor to governments” it’s me giving Joan Quigley vibes.

  2. Brassy Rebel says:

Governments, multinational corporations, and banks are consulting a “professional witch”? This explains a lot about the current state of the world.

    • Fifty-50 says:

I mean at the end of the day, governments and corporations are made of people and those words span an enormous range of institutions. For all we know she could be talking about a junior staffer in the House of Lords who is really into tarot and astrology, or like the VP of HR at Burberry, which is a multinational corporation. What I’m completely unsurprised by is people at hedge funds coming for readings on how a future business venture will do and using that advice as part of (or all of) their investment strategy. People in finance are supersititious too, lol. Markets are their own type of inscrutable arcane magic.

What made my eyebrows raise was this offers “love and relationship advice.” So like “is my partner cheating on me” kind of prognosticating? Maybe she told Kate that she should get abdominal surgery because the vibes from the crystals were off.

I’ve been practicing witchcraft (or, sorcery as I put it – it sounds better) for more than 25 years now. Her entire bio sends up a TON of red flags for me and the entire thing reeks of BS.

That isn’t to say governments, multinational companies, and financiers aren’t consulting witches. They absolutely are. One VERY well known luxury fashion house used to (or still does) have one on payroll as a “consultant.” There are companies with subtle symbols and sigils in their logos by deliberate design. The highest muckety-mucks know of it, and are usually the ones hiring the people. When I launch my business later this year (not witchcraft related), I’ll have them in my logo too.

With all that said, the practitioners who genuinely work for those companies/governments aren’t the ones advertising it. They are VERY discrete, even years later, and that’s one of the reasons they are hired. They don’t brag, and it’s certainly not a selling point on a tacky website. So I don’t buy what she’s trying to sell at all.

She may have done some work for a junior staffer or intern who saw her on TikTok, but that’s it.

      • TRex says:

@LynnInTx – I agree with what you’ve written (I’m also a practitioner) and a big fan of something a mentor of mine always said “Humility can never be claimed”

      • cerise says:

I’d love to know more! It sounds super interesting 🩵

  3. Jessica says:

IMO, Andrew hired her for some reason, found her helpful, and agreed to boost her profile internationally by being papped with her. A romantic relationship — I just don’t see it, based on every other woman he has dated in his adult life.

    • EasternViolet says:

Her stuff frequently popped up for me on TikTok, and I thought she was a lesbian. So… this news surprised me on that front. I mean, I don’t have a judgement either way, I just remember distinct reels from her about her choices and patriarchy.

  4. Pinkosaurus says:

Advisor to Lena Dunham 🤔. No thanks, I don’t this I need her advice for me or my government.

I’m guessing this won’t last because the fawning take on their relationship sounds like it came directly from her or her team. AG seems pretty low key and not like the type to feed his relationships to the tabloids for attention.

    • Chloe says:

This^^^. It screams like it’s coming from her team taking advantage of the opportunity to up her profile aka business profile.

  5. Mslove says:

What kind of advice does she give to the CEO of banks? Is it financial or is it about their love life? So many questions.

  6. Emily says:

Normally I’d dismiss somebody like that as a grifter, but she was able to manifest a relationship with Andrew Garfield…

    • Lucy says:

Same. If I was looking, I’d buy a love charm off her just based on this 😂. And she’s clearly a clever marketer, Luxury Witch sounds amazing.

    • anta says:

She also has 4 divorces under her belt so I am not sure she’s a right person to give any relationship advice.

  7. K says:

All I know is, Luxury Witch is the absolute top of the trees job title I have ever seen. Morning made.

    • ML says:

Right?! I couldn’t properly side eye that job description, because that article made me laugh. Today anyway.

  8. Katinka says:

Uhm I looked her up on instagram and she offers 45 min ‘readings’ for 1500 pounds. What a steal! 😮‍💨

    • ML says:

This does fit her -luxury- witch profile.

    • Krista says:

That does sound like a steal of a deal – I read the other day that she was charging $4,000 for 45 minutes so if that’s true then sounds like she is in her discount era?

Also read that she’s been married 4 times or something… but maybe she’s better at reading her cards and the stars for others?!

    • Bdog says:

Not sure how to feel about this. Hoping they are happy. But if it goes sour…….

  9. Ladiabla says:

Luxury witch sounds like a pretty amazing job. I really haven’t kept up with his love life too much after Emma; always thought it was a shame they broke up. Don’t know why he didn’t lock that down. Seems like he’s mostly dating models, so maybe he is giving her a pr boost. Then again, you’d expect a luxury witch to have some fascinating stories, so maybe they are seeing each other.

  10. Concern Fae says:

Remember that she also has a PhD from Oxford. That’s a credential that will get you hired at the sort of fancy consulting firms that do work for governments, banks, Fortune 500 companies. She’s clearly a very good communicator, can see her doing this kind of work.

On my phone, not looking anything up, I’m betting that she worked for a highly corporate consulting org, got disenchanted, went for the woo, did woo stuff for some of the old clients, branched out and did books too.

Who you can charge for what is often based on what degree you have. Artists and writers get MFAs so that they can teach. People get PhDs, so they can bill big bucks as a consultant.

He should just admit that his true love is Amelia from Chicken Shop Dates.

    • mary mary says:

      Right????

    • Yup, Me says:

That’s the relationship I want to happen. They have crazy chemistry.

In my fan fic for the day, he’s only out with the witch to “pay” for her guidance on how to move things forward with his true love.

  12. East Villager says:

Please excuse me while I switch careers to “luxury witch” immediately.
