We haven’t had a good Sparkles Pattinson post in a while, so it’s nice to end the year with a funny little story about sparkly hygiene. NY Magazine’s Vulture columnist ran into Bryce Dallas Howard and instead of asking her about her new film, they asked about Robert Pattinson’s hygiene, which she witnessed first-hand on the set of Eclipse. Bryce described an incident in which Sparkles admitted he needed to see a dentist because he chipped a tooth while flossing. She describes him as “hygienic” which runs contrary to mountains of evidence that he probably smells bad.
Sure, he looks foul-smelling, but would you believe Twilight star Robert Pattinson is really “incredibly hygienic”? So hygienic, in fact, that he’s a threat to himself and his teeth? It’s true, claims his Eclipse co-star Bryce Dallas Howard!
When we ran into her at the recent New York premiere of her new movie, the Tennessee Williams–scripted The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond (out today), she told us about her first brush with Rob: “I actually came out to him that I was totally nervous about [meeting him],” said Howard, who will replace Rachelle Lafevre as evil vampire Victoria in next year’s Twilight 3.
“He’s such a sweet young man, and there’s such a distinctive difference between him and Edward Cullen. He does such a wonderful job embodying that character, and bringing that character to life. But when you meet him, he’s such a down-to-earth, humble person, you feel bad freaking out around him.”
“But what does he smell like?” we inquired. “Actually, he’s incredibly hygienic,” Howard insisted. “He told me this story that made me crack up. He was like, ‘Oh, I have to go to the dentist.’ And I was like, ‘Oh no, what happened? Just a check-up?’ And he was like, ‘No, I chipped a tooth.’ And I was like, ‘How?’ And he was like, ‘Flossing.’ Who does that? I don’t even floss. So he’s hygienic. Trust me.”

I floss. I’ve never chipped a tooth while flossing, and I can’t imagine flossing so hard that happens. Personally, I find Bryce’s comment about how she doesn’t floss grosser than her story about Pattinson. In any case, it’s not Pattinson’s teeth that I have a problem with. It’s his gross hair and his dirty clothes. That boy needs some mothering, and I’m not sure Kristen Stewart is up for it. But I am!
In other Pattinson news, he was spotted out and about in London with his sister, and now all the Twihards are all “Bella and Edward didn’t spend Christmas together, SOB!” Photos of the family outing are here, but be forewarned: Sparkles looks like a sketchy kidnapper, and his sister did not get the sparkly genes. And one more thing: in that Moviefone poll (the one that determined that Megan Fox was the worst actress of the year), Robert was voted “the sexiest actor of the year.” Which is sad, really. Because kids today think Sparkles is sexier than Clive Owen. Sob!

Love all this Sparkly news. I’ve missed reading about him frequently! Unless he flosses with steel nails or something I cannot understand how he could possibly break a tooth.

Anywho judging from the pics above his teeth look fine to me. They look nice and white despite his being a smoker.
If he chipped a tooth while flossing, it means that his teeth are on the terrible side.

Choose me, I looked at that link. I doubt you could do over 1/2 of those things with dental floss. I’ve used just about every type of dental floss available to the retail public and keep a couple different kinds around the house. Can’t think of any that are strong enough to do a lot of that stuff. That article is like clicking on some of the MSN links. Most of the ideas are common sense or ridiculous.

Googled..”Chipped tooth by flossing” because that is what happened to this past holiday.. Im going to dentist on Monday.
ANyway.. my point of this comment is to note that your teeth DO NOT need to be gross, rotted, or just bad.. I have good teeth and when I spoke to the dentist he said “youd be suprised how often it can happen.”

Well Nicole, you had me curious so I googled it myself. Almost every story was about Pattinson, but I read 3 that weren’t. The three that I read where the tooth was chipped during flossing had more than just the flossing going on. One was a “rotten” tooth, the other two had loose fillings that were pulled out chipping the tooth in the process. Didn’t see any stories where it only involved a healthy tooth and floss. There may have been one there but I got tired of looking at them.
@Kevin. Understand your skepticism. I floss often and have sensitive teeth but have never chipped a tooth but given some of the uses for floss that I’d read about I wasn’t going to dismiss the possibility. Could be Pattison is doing it wrong who knows? And I reiterate, just based on the pics above, his teeth look fine to me.
I do not get his appeal. At all.
