The Sussexes will not feature their children in either of their new Netflix shows

This past week has been tough for haters and Derangers. First we learned that the Duchess of Sussex will not use her Montecito mansion or her kitchen for her Netflix cooking show. Apparently, the production rented another mansion in Montecito for the filming. So no one will get to see inside the Sussexes’ ritzy mansion with eleventy billion bathrooms. Now the Sun reports that the two Sussex children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, will not appear in Meghan’s cooking show OR Harry’s polo show. This basically catnip for those conspiracist nutjobs who constantly demand to “see the children.”

Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet will be kept off screens by the Sussexes in their upcoming Netflix shows. Filming has started on both Meghan’s lifestyle show and Harry’s polo programme but the TV series will not include the children, The Sun on Sunday understands.

The shows are considered to be a make or break for the Duchess, 42, and the Duke, 39, as part of their £100million Netflix deal. But Archie, four, and Lilibet, two, will not appear in either.

It comes after we last year revealed that the couple disagreed over whether to make their family lives public or not. Harry is said to be keen to keep the children away from cameras, while Meghan is more relaxed about the world seeing them. The children’s appearances are rare and they have been seen only in official photographs and in fleeting moments on the previous Harry & Meghan Netflix show.

An insider said: “Harry and Meghan have not always agreed on how much they should expose their children to the media but, in this case, Harry has clearly won.”

Meg’s show — which is said to “celebrate the joys of cooking and gardening, entertaining and friendship” — is not being filmed at the couple’s £11million home. Instead, camera crews have been seen setting up at a neighbour’s house in Montecito, California.

[From The Sun]

The Sun is pulling this out of their ass – they are just trying to make it sound like Meghan and Harry are constantly disagreeing about the kids. Meanwhile, I don’t even believe this. While I doubt Archie and Lili will be fully featured in these shows, I bet the kids will be seen in the same way they were in the Harry & Meghan series in 2022. Photos, videos shot by Harry or Meghan, glimpses of their family life. Probably more for Meghan’s show – why would Archie or Lili even appear in a show about polo?

The Sun has no idea how either H or M feel about their children being seen. But I thought Meghan was the boss and PH was led around by her. So how could he win about the children being seen if she disagreed? (s)

    • Jais says:

Right? They know nothing and they make up everything but then forget what they said the week before.

      • rosa mwemaid says:

And so to far too many of their elderly readers, pity, if they remembered what they had read they might realise that they are reading lies.

    • Amy Bee says:

      @equality: Exactly.

    • Joy Liluri says:

Why would their children appear in a show about cooking or a show about the intricacies of polo?

I kind of hope she has Jennifer Garner on simply because Jen seems to really love to cook and bake. Sharing hobbies can bring out the happiness in people so fast.

      • KeKe Swan says:

@Joy, maybe they’re thinking about Chip and Joanna Gaines as a model? The extent to which that couple exploit their children has been uncomfortable for me for years. Otherwise, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ — because I can’t think of a single British cooking or lifestyle show I’ve seen that heavily features the creators’ children… Maybe they can’t think of anything at all but $$$, because they’re definitely desperate to figure out how to make bank off the Sussex kids.

  2. 2legit2quit says:

All I want to do is insert the gif of Donald glover saying GOOD.

  3. Barbara says:

The Scum knows nothing, including where Meghan’s show will be filmed, whether filming has begun or who’s going to be on it. It’s a no brainer that the kids won’t be so it’s eye rolling that the Scum thinks they have some kind of exclusive.

    • Debbie says:

Or that they can arbitrarily impose guidelines like “This is a make or break for the Sussees.” Really? Is that how the entertainment industry works? These people. They live in some faraway place, and they insist on trying to make the rules for people in another country.

  4. Smart&Messy says:

Why would they show the kids in any of their shows? Maybe Meghan’s will be a bit more personal, related to home life so I can see the possibility of showing the children here and there. But if she doesn’t, and I wouldn’t if I were her, she can still make the content interesting and genuine.
The rota assholes are already throwing disappointed hissy fits that they can’t get anything about Harry’s kids. Meanwhile, DM columnists are reduced (further) to writing about old photos of Kate and how she is a fashion icon for wearing jeggings and similar colors to QE2. The beast is starving.

    • Lorelei says:

Right? When I first saw the announcement about the shows, it didn’t even cross my mind that the children would be involved. These people are so far beyond unhinged.

      • Bettyrose says:

Same. Didn’t cross my mind. I’ve long since accepted that the children are not going to be in the public eye until they’re old enough to make that decision for themselves.

  5. seaflower says:

Codswallop. All you have to do is watch the episode of H&M netflix special where Meghan is worried about their house being safe and people accessing the place to know she is not “more relaxed” about the Archie and Lili’s safety and privacy.

  6. Jan says:

To quote Meghan, “ why should I show our children to the British Media who abuse us.”
Harry was quite clear to Jane Goodal, that Archie was not going to doing any waving, when she asked, if he was teaching Archie the Royal wave.

    • Cessily says:

“Why listen to actual facts that are easily available when you can make up a narrative” seems to be the British Journalism motto. They are just so arrogant about it that I want to scream at these ridiculous stories. No one paying attention ever for a moment thought that the Sussex’s would center their children in any project, and we certainly didn’t think they would be filming in the home that they are raising those children in.

    • Amy Bee says:

      @Jan: Thanks for the reminder.

    • Christine says:

I had forgotten about that too.

  7. Dee(2) says:

The obsession with seeing their kids will never fail to be bizarre to me, especially considering the fact that we see them just as much as we see Eugenie and Beatrice’s kids, and way more than we see other English celebrities kids like Benedict Cumberbatch or Tom Hiddleston. And I wish they would stop with this make or break stuff. They are clearly fulfilling everything that Netflix wants. If they don’t sign another contract at the end of this one, they will have still put out four separate shows produced another, and would have done an additional show if that hadn’t been part of a department that they completely eliminated. Netflix totally got their money’s worth out of them.

ETA- I totally forgot about that book they optioned so there’s probably even more coming.

    • equality says:

Sienna has basically been seen in photos showing her from behind. What they all used to whine about with H&M.

    • Steph says:

@dee, with these two new shows the total will be five. They already did Harry and Meghan, Live to Lead, and Heart of Invictus. So I agree, they definitely fulfilled their obligations.

      • Dee(2) says:

Yeah I was counting Live to Lead as produced another but I agree. And if they make a movie out of the book the optioned it’ll be four shows with them in it, one where they hosted/narrated and another they produced. That’s pretty decent output for five years considering we had a writers and actor’s strike in the midst of it.

    • Norvy says:

The obsession with seeing the children is easy to understand: The British tabloids and racists want to see the children’s coloring…to see any resemblances to the Royals.

  8. BlueSky says:

Considering the vitriol towards her, death threats, Archie being compared to a chimpanzee and threats made to her children, there is no way I believe M wants her kids to be more visible. The BM is so pissed that they don’t have access to those kids and H & M will not play that game. You got the Wales kids. Focus on that.

    • Anna says:

The media are trying very hard to portrait Meg as fame hungry, willing to sell her and her children’s privacy for fame and money.

Considering the level of threat they face, I cannot imagine she wants every Deranger to know how her kids look like, or how exactly her home looks like. It would be purely stupid and such a security threat that their team would probably fight this idea very hard.

Even if we forget about security for a second, why would she expose her innocent babies for the vitriol and wild criticism? They would take a glimpse of Lili’s facial expression and whole story would be written around it – how it means she’s defiant, not well behaved, how “it is understood she has tantrums” and how Royal kids are so much better. God, I am a nobody and I don’t want my daughter’s pictures to be viewed by strangers – why would I?

    • Becks1 says:

Yeah, they’re trying to act yet again like Meghan is the next Kim Kardashian and will use her kids as part of her reality shows or something.

Honestly, I think if you had asked Meghan in maybe 2016/2017 how she felt about her kids being in the public eye she might have had a more relaxed answer – she doesn’t have Harry’s traumatic history of paparazzi and press intrusion, and its possible she might have been okay with sharing snippets of her kids’ lives here and there kind of how W&K do, without the whole “use your kids as PR shields” aspect of it. I think she always would have followed Harry’s lead and let him make the call because of his history, but I think maybe pre engagement or around the time of the engagement (when she and Harry still had the expectation that the palace would protect her once she was engaged, like it protected Kate) she might have had a more laid back view on it.

But a lot has happened since then in terms of press intrusion and press abuse and racism and safety and security issues so I think at this point she and Harry are 100% on the same wavelength here and probably have been before Archie was born.

    • Surly Gale says:

I disagree about one thing only: that they should ‘focus’ on the Wales kids.
IMHO, kids are not/should not ever be content. They have already been paraded around like show ponies. George is already (again, IMHO) showing signs of stress whenever out and about.
We needs must always protect all children as best we can whenever, wherever we can.
Focus on the adults. They are the ones that need/want the spotlight.
      Do that instead.
      Leave the kids alone.

      • Magdalena says:

I disagree with this. Taxpayers are paying for the Wales kids and we keep being told that THEY are the future of the monarchy. So if any children should be the focus of the British public’s attention, it’s them. Not because they are “content”, but because they are the “relevant” ones. There is no reason whatsoever for the UK media to be obsessing about the Sussex children when the Wales offspring are right there (wherever they happen to be).

      • BlueSky says:

@surley gale tell that to their parents and the invisible contract they have with the press. W&K are more than willing to use their children as shields against criticism and to get good press.

    • Norvy says:

Perfectly stated. The gall of strangers demanding to see their children is crazy!

  9. Feebee says:

I’m disregarding the BMs BS take on H&M views on their children appearing on film.

I would love to see a glimpse of their kids only because I love to see my friends’ kids growing up and changes since I’ve seen them last. But I’m cool that they don’t because they have every reason not to from normal privacy to very real security concerns. And screw the BM too.

  10. aftershocks says:

LOL! You took the words right out of my mouth @Kaiser. 😂🫡

“The Sun understands…” and “An insider said…” 🤦‍♀️🙄 Code for, “The Sun is pulling this out of their ass…” 💯 All salty isle rota are in desperate make-believe mode, throwing whatever against the wall hoping something might stick.

    • SussexWatcher says:

Exactly. “Understands” is doing some heavy lifting here. The British press – and most especially the tabloids – know nothing. They have no insider information, no sources, no official confirmation of anything by the Sussexes team. And they really are just covering all their bases by saying one parent wants it and the other doesn’t. So later, regardless of what the Sussexes choose to so, the paper can say “we were right!”

But it’s funny that the Sun really thinks they can pressure the Sussexes into doing what they want. That might work with the Leftover Royals but Harry already told you clearly and plainly that he’s not going to play the games that killed his mother. He’s not going to take your bait, Sun on Sunday so fcuk off and focus on finding Huevo’s missing wife.

    • rosa mwemaid says:

I call it the get out clause, usually found at or near the beginning of a story to avoid being sued, if they want to be really nasty you won’t find it until the middle of the piece, and how many read that far.

  11. Tessa says:

Both Meghan and harry are protective of their children. Why would they put photos out. The derangers demand to see the children and when they did early the derangers and bots made critical comments.

    • Truthiness says:

💯. I am continually appalled at the Brit Media’s attempt at ownership of Meghan, the children, and Harry. It feels like they’ll never stop. It seems their goal is just to end them. They are a bit successful at creating Sussex fatigue, a feeling of “that’s enough M&H news, can we cover something else?” Drowning out the truths with the deranged lies. I’ve heard liberal voices criticizing them, it’s upsetting on so many levels.

  12. Walking the Walk says:

Meghan legit said her and Harry move together so no she’s not more “relaxed” about it. Good grief. I don’t want to see their kids. And the derangers keep screaming they are not real, I wouldn’t want any photos of them out anymore either. And they purposely only show themselves when promoting Archewell, why would they then go, here’s some photos and videos of the kids during her cooking show?

    Bah.

  13. Steph says:

From the press release about the polo show I can see the kids being on it in an unofficial capacity. It’s not just supposed to show games but everything involved in the sport. I would think that would include the players, their families, and the people who love the sport. A glimpse of Harry introducing the kids to polo would make sense.
Do I think that would happen? Hmmm. Probably not, at most a fleeting shot that we know is them but without detail enough to id them in a crowd.

  14. Mooney says:

I thought the kids didn’t exist? Borrowed, dolls, photoshop, etc etc etc etc
    /S

  15. Shawna says:

Such piffle. Even if there were a disagreement, they seem to operate by a similar principle that my husband and I operate with: the one who’s being most guarded and cautious gets to decide the outcome.

What actually matters is the ongoing targeting of two children, private American citizens, to make demands to see them seem normal.

  16. Amy Bee says:

I mean any right thinking person can come to this conclusion. The Sun doesn’t have to pretend that they have an insider giving them stories about Harry and Meghan. And I believe Harry and Meghan are the same page regarding their children.

  17. Eurydice says:

Not featuring the children is just another on the list of “go-to” phrases the BM use to fill up space, like the eleven thousand bathrooms and Meghan’s Cartier watch. They don’t mean anything anymore.

  18. The gutter press is not in the know. I doubt they will show a great deal a ot their children in either show. We may see glimpses and that’s it. The Sussexes are raising their children out of the spotlight.

  19. aquarius64 says:

The BM knows pictures of the Sussex children would fetch a tidy sum and revenue for a long time. That’s why they drag Toxic Tom on TV to make threats about suing for visitation; Bad Dad would hand over (read sell) pictures of Archie and Lili to the rags without Harry and Meghan’s consent.

    • rosa mwemaid says:

Don’t know about the US but in Britain grandparents have no right to see their grandchildren.

      • Berkeleyfarm says:

Mileage about “grandparents’ rights” varies in the US States. From what I remember, he’d have absolutely no chance in California because Harry and Meghan are alive and with each other and he has absolutely zero pre-existing relationship with them. Even if, God forbid, Meghan was no longer alive, he … has zero relationship with the children.

He can flap his gums for free. It plays well to the coercive control crowd who likes that sort of thing and tends to be anti-Sussex. A lawsuit would be dismissed with prejudice (in other words, not able to be re-filed).

  20. Anna M says:

Wow, the rotas are really thirsty for Sussexes’ kids’ photos since the ones they have right now are not interesting enough. It’s their fault and their loss for treating H & M badly, they need to focus on the Wales and their kids for content.

  21. TN Democrat says:

No one’s kids should be media targets, but Harry/meghan’s kids have been specifically targeted by the media/derangers in dangerous ways. Harry and Meghan are right to allow them to grow up removed from the media circus even without the security risk of the derangers pose. The way Keen and Will-not have trotted their kids out publically while planting stories about the Sussex kids to deflect negative press is sickening, especially given the media circus Harry and William grew up in. Willy should, of all people, should know better and his willingness to allow abuse heaped on the Lillibet and Archie is a clear indicator of what a terrible human he is and what a terrible king he will be.

  22. VADER says:

Harry wrote extensively about how he was used by his family to deflect from their screw ups. I think the brf plan was always to have Harry’s kids act as foil for Wanks kids. Meghan knows first hand how they will lie about her and her family to protect chucky and wank. I think H&M are on the exact same page when it comes to their kids privacy.

    • Underhill says:

I have great respect for both of them, for keeping their young children out of the public eye, especially when the public gaze would inevitably be so intense. Children should not be the object of such pressure.

The gutter press has absolutely nothing interesting to write about regarding the royals, nothing they can put in print, at least, so its more speculation than usual, which is a greal deal on a regular day.

    • StarWonderful says:

Exactly. The Sussex kids are the designated scapegoats for the Wales’ kids.

  23. Lau says:

They are really close to saying that Archie should appear in the polo show because he’s a boy and Lilibeth should appear in her mother’s show because she’s a girl. I’m willing to bet that next week they’ll go for that angle.

  24. QuiteContrary says:

I don’t need to see Archie and Lilibet. I’m just glad they’re happy and safe.

I do need to see Meghan’s cooking show, though, and STAT lol.

  25. Over it says:

If it’s even true and I mean a big if , then good for Harry and Meghan. The British media should not profit off one eyelash from either one of those children. They just wanted them to appear to write think pieces about every little thing they do . I’d Archie with his impeccable manners says thank you mama those muffins were the best muffins ever and so yummy. It would span 30 articles about how could Archie possibly know that they were the best muffins when he has never tasted all muffins and how if his evil selfish parents hadn’t kept him away from his beloved British royal relatives, he could be at this moment be enjoying real muffins made by Kate or her amazing chef . Or how Lili should not wear a bow in her hair at a time when charlotte has outgrown bows and would be upset that lily reminded her that she use to like bows. Or how Archie and lily should not be outside running around In their garden barefoot and laughing because the whales kids are facing torrent rainfall and can’t go outside for the next few days. You all know these salty B would write this kind of crap without blinking and eye

  26. Saucy&Sassy says:

A picture was published comparing Archie to a chimp. The derangers manipulate photos of Meghan (and Archie), but Meghan is the one who wants to use the children in their shows?

This is a very interesting phase of the bm. They’ve always made up stuff to write about, but this shows how desperate they’re getting. They’re literally scaping the bottom of the barrel. They would be better served finding a different job before even more people are layed off.

  27. Mel says:

Why exactly would anyone expect two toddlers to show up in a cooking show or a show about polo?

  28. lanne says:

The “Bring out your children” brigade was giving me the serious icks, and it led me to this analogy. Brace yourselves.

So the story of Sodom and Gomorrah in the bible (Genesis) is really messed up for a lot of reasons. In the story, Abraham’s brother Lot is a (supposedly) “righteous” man living in a sinful city, and 2 angels in disguise come visit him as guests. Whereupon the local lads immediatly come to Lot’s door and demand he sends out the guests so the locals can “have their way with them”. Lot’s reply? “No, that’s not nice, but here, you can have your way with my daughters instead!”

In my anology: the british media are the “local lads” demanding access to the children for nefarious purposes (not what the story implies obviously, but they want access to those kids to bring them to harm). Lot in this analogy is Charles and William both: “You can’t have access to my kids, but here are the Sussex kids to entertain you!”

It’s that gross to me. Why do they want access to toddlers? To make money from them, with no regard for their humanity or their vulnerability as children. People need to start calling out the British media in a big way. Them bleating about access to children is disgusting: grown adults screaming to get information and pictures of the children of private citizens.

I don’t think I can say what they sound like (and I wouldn’t be surprised if this post is removed): Chesters. A bunch of Chesters! Someone needs to ask them, on camera if possible: “Why do you want access to other people’s children?”

    • bisynaptic says:

Except that both Charles and William have thrown their kids under the proverbial bus, for good press.

  29. Lady Digby says:

The Scum are very cross about Harry suing them so keep trying to rile with attacks on him, Meghan and dragging in the kids. Hence last Thursday’s American Idle front page photo and misleading title which I complained to the editor about and have yet to receive an acknowledgement of my email, let alone a response.

    • Mary Pester says:

😱😱😱Oh no!! Not ANOTHER “make or break” situation. Yeah right, by the way SUN newspaper, have you finished apologising to the Hillsborough families yet???! Or agreed a sum of money with Harry, because your really showing your stupidity with this badly written crap.

  30. Robin Samuels says:

Archie was days old when shown on the front page of a UK paper depicted as a chimpanzee. However, convince me that Meghan may be more consenting than Harry about using the children. Most people look at the couple because they are photogenic and emit positive vibes. However, too many do not listen to the words they speak. They are a team. The Sun is on their Hell No list. Harry has a pending lawsuit with that rag.
Every day, there’s a post on X about a law enforcement officer or a member of the church arrested for sexually abusing, rapping, or having lots of child pornography in their possession. The obsession surrounding children, regardless of who their parents are, is frightening. Leave children alone.

  31. Mel says:

The British Media and Wee Willy are jealous that Harry has this role. They will continue their lame attempts to harass him in the hope that he will leave and then Willy can ride to the rescue. ( Insert eye roll here)
