Kim Kardashian lost 120K Instagram followers after Taylor Swift’s diss track

As we discussed, Taylor Swift devoted at least one song on The Tortured Poets Department to Kim Kardashian. “ThanK you aIMee” is Taylor’s version of a diss track, and Swifties are saying that “Cassandra” also has some Kim references. As of this writing, Kim has not responded to Taylor. Kim has actually been ignoring Taylor’s attempts to drag her for several years now – even before this new album, Taylor has made multiple references to Kim across major interviews for years. I think it’s a good strategy on Kim’s part – the longer she ignores Taylor, the more she drives Taylor crazy and the more Taylor downright insists that Kim is “bullying” her. Nevermind that Taylor’s fans have called in bomb threats and death threats on her enemies (and her enemies’ children), but whatever. Now the Swifties are trying to declare victory because… Kim Kardashian lost thousands of Instagram followers.

Kim Kardashian has lost a staggering 120k and counting social media followers in the few days since Taylor Swift released her scating “revenge” song, “thanK you aIMee”, which is said to be a diss track aimed at her.

The reality TV star, 43, has faced backlash since Swift released the song on Friday, April 19, which includes lyrics “Everyone knows that my mother is a saintly woman / But she used to say she wished that you were dead”.

Swifties have been swarming her Instagram and X comments section with the song’s seemingly telling title, which spells out “Kim” in Capitals. Swift has become known for placing hidden messages in her lyrics via capitalization. However, not only has the reality TV star felt the wrath of the 34-year-old pop star’s loyal fans, but she has also seemingly lost a significant number of followers causing her still significant count to plummet since the backlash, according to social media tracking apps.

And as she is yet to address the uproar, her fans have called for her svengali “momager” Kris Jenner to step in and help mitigate the crisis. Jenner, who manages Kardashian and her famous siblings has developed an infamous reputation for spinning the family’s many trials and tribulations into cash and career opportunities.

“Kris, you need to help Kim. why you being quiet. Work that magic on this TayTay drama, girl,” wrote one fan in her comment section. “me just waiting for Kris to spin this Taylor beef into a new Skimms collection or something. Y’all wait,” said another. “Kris ain’t crying, y’all. She’s telling Kim ‘you’re doing great Sweetie’, with this Taylor s-t lol”, added a third.

A fourth insisted: “You Swifties think that Taylor won? She just solidified Kim as a legend by dedicating a whole song to her. *awaits Kris jenner making merch out of this or including it in kardashian’s new season.

[From Us Weekly]

I was curious, so I just did a cursory numbers check. Taylor Swift has 283 million Instagram followers. Kim has… 363 million Instagram followers. Eighty MILLION more people follow Kim than Taylor. Like… who cares? In the scope of these kinds of numbers, the loss of 120K is likely just a shift in bot-follower networks. That’s not a diss on Kim either – I’m sure Taylor has plenty of bot followers too, especially judging from the hype organization around TTPD. Anyway, yeah – Kim is projecting an attitude of IDGAF. Because ultimately, none of this sh-t matters.

Yeah that’s not even a dent for Kim. That said, it makes me happy to see because she is an awful person driving Elon’s cyber truck of death around like yet another trophy of her horrid taste in politics and life.

Kim is a grown woman, she’s over 40, she has kids, a life, a job, businesses. I highly doubt she gives 2 shts about taylor’s album. Kim not responding is the right mature response. I think this retaliation thing from taylor is very high school quite immature, but I dont expect anything else from taylor. She is approaching 40, but she has nothing else, not settled and no family yet, so her mindset is different, she has her music and a need to create a a life to feed her music. I do enjoy the mysterious boyfriend songs, and clues but im off the wagon when it’s obviously pointing about another woman. She doesn’t name the guys she writes about – why do it for women? Clearly she wants to target kim. And those lyrics and borderline asking for trouble. This only shows her immaturity.

Is this what grown folks spend their time on while the world is spinning out of control? Making diss tracks? Ok.

    • KC says:

@MSIAM Right? I’m sitting here trying to think of an analogy that would fit me. Would that be like if Thom York wrote a song making fun of Chris Martin and I was all fist-pumping “yeah! You tell him, Thom!” and then I go unfollow Chris Martin? I mean, I’m not a Coldplay fan to begin with so I wouldn’t be able to unfollow him. It’s so f*cking weird to me that grown ass people care about this stuff enough to take (admittedly small) action. This subset of Swifties need to find some new hobbies.

The world has always been spinning out of control.

  3. Amy Bee says:

Taylor needs to move on because it seems Kim has and losing 120,000 followers on Instagram is nothing when you have almost 400 million followers.

  4. Jilly says:

Kim just looks like an adult. Taylor is still so child like.

  5. Dee(2) says:

This is like dropping a quarter when you have 10,000 cash in your pocket. It’s inconsequential, and it’s absolutely bot activity. They tried to make a meal out of the same thing happening to Ariana grande after she released Yes,and. When you have hundreds of millions of followers this doesn’t matter. I would wager that people like Kim, or Taylor, or Beyonce, or Selena or the largest accounts like Ronaldo or Messi probably fluctuate like this all the time. And yeah this seems more like some of Taylor fans being mad Kim is unbothered.

  6. Mina_Esq says:

If Kim still inspires her musically, that’s fine. But capitalizing the letters makes it petty and unserious. They are both adult women. Kim is a mother to four children. She is coparenting with a mentally ill man. She has bigger problems.

  7. equality says:

Dropping someone on SM is no big deal. Wishing someone dead and making death threats, especially to children uninvolved in an issue, is way too much.

  8. Louise177 says:

Losing some followers when you have 400 hundred million is nothing. Amusing that people think it’s a big deal. Attacking Kim is pathetic at this point considering I don’t think Kim has mentioned Taylor in years.

  9. Sass says:

This is ridiculous. I don’t even like the Ks. But Kim is looking MUCH better in all of this. Like someone said above she is coparenting four kids with a mentally ill person. She has bigger things to worry about.

  10. Lilpeppa40 says:

@Sass – completely agree. I’m not a fan of either and I don’t even think I’m clear on what went down at the time (nor do I care to find out now) but from what I’ve read in the comments sections there’s enough blame to go around and neither really comes out smelling like roses. Which is therefore why Kim is looking a ton better by comparison with her non-response. It’s wild to me for Taylor to write lyrics saying her mother wished Kim was dead and mentioning her kids at all is beyond the pale. What is that? I’ve seen people defend the song but that piece of it seems pretty indefensible to me. And what’s her end goal? What’s she getting out of it? Kim strikes me as fairly selfish and self-involved so she likely doesn’t care lol.

  11. yellowy says:

    That song is repulsive.

  12. TheOriginalMia says:

Had a former college FB player I follow on Twitter wondering how Kim was feeling after this song was released. I just shook my head. Her fans are truly delusional if they think Kim gives af. Lordy. My opinion of him cratered after reading that tweet.

  13. ElonRuinedTwitter says:

Taylor is a very good marketer. Tom Hiddleston will back me up on that.

I think she plays up her real-life experiences to exaggerate in her songwriting. She’s been long over this as she’s said her piece and everyone knows Kim and Kanye were the bad guys – whether or not you care that much. It’s all just fodder for her songs. I don’t think she was that in love with those guys she dated for three months, like Jake G, etc. Fodder for her creative life; she’s been a compulsive – literally compulsive – writer since she was a child.
