Prince William & Kate released a never-before-seen photo from their 2011 wedding

Looks like Kensington Palace really is reading the tweets and blogs. We should really stop giving them all of this free advice. It’s curious to me to see which pieces of advice they take and what they completely ignore as well. Over the weekend, there was speculation that Prince William and Kate would absolutely not release a photo for their 13th wedding anniversary, which is today. Considering the drama over Prince Louis’s birthday photo last week – which was likely only posted after media pressure – surely they could say “we are just private now, stop asking us for photos!!”

As many of us suggested yesterday, it would be easy enough for Kensington Palace to simply release an old photo, identify it as such and just be done with it. Will and Kate have photo archives, they have tons of photos we’ve never seen, but they can’t problem-solve their way out of a paper bag about this stuff. Like, they should have been issuing older photos earlier this year instead of creating weird frankenphotos as proof-of-life. Anyway, I digress. KP released a never-before-seen photo from William and Kate’s 2011 wedding. Just a simple portrait of the two of them in their wedding gear, taken by Millie Pilkington.

I mean… I can sort of see why this one stayed in the archives for so long? It actually looks really airbrushed too and the placement of William’s hand is so awkward. Oh well. Congrats to them. Here’s to another 13 years of this.

Update: I didn’t even see that William changed his uniforms for this photo?? That’s so weird, although I remember reports at the time which indicated that QEII made him wear the red uniform for his wedding. Maybe he changed for the reception? Or is the conspiracy a lot bigger than that??

So they don’t have any recent ones?

Btw William’s face looks really photoshopped, like it was cut into the pic

    • aftershocks says:

Tee hee! This is simply more proof that KP gets their better ideas from reading the comments section on Celebitchy! Several CBers already suggested that KP follow H&M’s lead and release an unseen photo from WanK’s 2011 wedding! 🤣🤣😂 Seriously, @Kaiser & CBers should be receiving remuneration from KP and BP! 🤑

      • aftershocks says:

^^ Yep, I see now that @Kaiser has pointed this out already too! 🫡

      • StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

Celebitchy and some of the regulars here are the invisible unpaid PR team for KP. Nobody who knows their way out of paper bag are on duty in there. They’re all out to lunch

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

The fact Team WanK dug through the archives for a photo of the pair of them is curious.

Huevo’s much-vaunted “devotion to his wife in her time of illness” surely must have cured him of the revulsion of being next to her long enough to take a damn photo by now.

And if she’s not in a “grave state”, surely Huesa has recovered well past the bedridden stage of any abdominal surgery yet performed by man, to sit up long enough to take a damn photo. Even with the chemo excuse for not working (a treatment that hasn’t hampered Chucklebrick’s activities), she could sit still in a chair long enough for a smarmy photo of a couple pretending that they’re still happily married.

We have not seen ANY new photo of her since December 25, 2023.
126 whole days of a missing princess.

For them to dredge up photos from the wedding day? Sorry, but looks like it’s Unlucky 13 this year, because this entire press release is giving Corpse Bride. KP, no one is buying what you’re selling. Time to own the truth and let the lady properly rest in peace.

      • UmaBrasileira says:

True! His face is darker than the tip of his neck that shows in the pic….

    • Katy says:

And her face looks filtered to oblivion. Also, did they wonk up her eyebrow in post? We all know Lefty hasn’t always been like that.. but we all know Gaslightington Palace can’t help themselves. Lying liars who lie and such.

      • Claire says:

Her eyebrow has always been like that, even as a child. It’s very common that many people have either uneven eyes or uneven eyebrows (brow ptosis). Yes, if someone gets bad Botox it could give them a temporary brow ptosis, but actually for people that are born with uneven brows, using Botox is actually one temporary way (short of getting plastic surgery) to make the eyebrows a little less uneven (by trying to intentionally lift the other eyebrow a little more to match – it’s called a Botox brow lift). Only so much can be done with Botox though, plastic surgery is really the only way for someone with brow ptosis to permanently fix the issue and still there’s no guarantee that it will look great (can leave a scar etc). For most people who have either uneven eyes or brows, it becomes more apparent as we age. I have a brow ptosis similar to Kate and while I’ve always had it since I was a child, it’s more noticeable now that I’m older because aging of the eyes will also accentuate the difference between the two.

      • Bellaluna McKenzie says:

Gaslightington had me in fits of giggle. I love it.

    • Josephine says:

      His hair definitely looks photoshopped.

I can see why it wasn’t released before. He looks constipated and she looks like her eyes are wonky. There is something really odd about her eyes, like they don’t match.

But it’s funny that the press sees this as some huge prize we all received. It’s a mediocre picture at best and looks no different from the pics already released.

      • Becks1 says:

Her eyes look like that now – the eyebrows dont match – I assumed it was because of too much botox or filler or some work gone awry, but even here in 2011 they’re wonky. Huh.

      • BeanieBean says:

Her eyes ARE wonky. That left one has always been bigger & rounder than the right, and the left brow has always been a bit higher. You can see it even in her childhood photos, released sometime during the engagement by her dad. Botox has just emphasized that brow.

    • Amy says:

It’s his photoshopped hairline that is really distracting in this photo, LOL.

    • esquire says:

I never liked her copycat dress, particularly not the high collar at the back. I consider Kate very attractive, but her makeup was clownish, particularly that heavy black eyeliner. Her hair was lovely back then, but I think it would have been better up with the tiara and the neckline of the dress. He looks like he dialled in for duty, she looks like she’s finally “made it”.

    • ales says:

The dress looks like a dollar store lace creation and is very ordinary. There is so much photo shopping, her face shape regularly changes, and still does. Plus her new teeth dominate, she looks very hard, probably not using fillers back then. Posed photos nothing more.

God, so they’ve always been this awkward around each other?

    • equality says:

Funny. That was my thought. Do they not have any wedding photos where they look in love or at least less stiff?

      • Becks1 says:

Yes! This picture, while nice enough I guess, is boring. Show us a picture that shows you two laughing together, acting like you’re actually happy that you’re married to each other.

      • Smart&Messy says:

Right? If not overjoyed and in love, at least something less staged. Like cutting the cake at the reception, right before they step out on the balcony or something.

    • seaflower says:

      • Bettyrose says:

@Becks1 – The funny thing is that since these pics are heavily shopped anyway, why not make them look like those old smoking billboards where everyone was laughing?

    • Lau says:

Once again it doesn’t look like they’re on the same photo to begin with.
Also when is the South Park episode about the Waleses being privacy advocates going to be on tv ?

      • aftershocks says:

^^ LOL! I also notice that Willy had changed into the more casual blues and grays uniform he’d wanted permission to wear during the wedding ceremony, but his request was nixed by QE-II. 🤣😂 Harry informed us in Spare that this is why Willy was livid when Harry got QE-II’s permission to not only marry at low-key St. George’s Chapel, but most of all, to wear his comfortable blues and grays uniform. What Harry got comes with being the Spare, Willy! 😉 The denial you got is what comes with being the Heir! Boom! 🫳 🕳

      • aftershocks says:

Harry also got QE-II’s permission to keep his beard while wearing his comfortable uniform! Thus, on several counts (including the beautiful, accomplished bride, Meghan, whom Harry was lucky to marry), Willy was bitter and incandescent. 😡

      • Interested Gawker says:

After their fever dream wedding that saw Kate covered in custard, dismembered and laughing as William broke off her arm and utilized it as a sex toy I think South Park couldn’t hope to top that. One wonders if it was prophetic…

      • Jacqueline says:

The Monarchy is DOOMED .so many lies Where is Kate??

    • [insert_catchy_name] says:

Haha, they can barely stand to touch each…

    • StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

The shyness of a new married couple in front of the world was charming, but looking back, they were always awkward in each other’s company.

      • Persephone says:

The “shyness” was weird even then seeing as how they had been together for years, from St Andrew’s.

      • esquire says:

Shyness from HRH Prince William, first born son of HRH Charles, Prince of Wales and HRH Diana, Princess of Wales, born to be King? LOL.

      • Nic919 says:

Diana was shy because she was 19 and barely knew Charles. Kate and William had been dating for years and living together as well. It was never shyness but the media pretended it was.

    • Jay says:

The Wails never understand the assignment, lol. If this is their idea of a “behind the scenes” photo from the happiest day of their lives, I think we should resign as impromptu social media advisors, lol, because our erstwhile clients don’t seem capable of following our instructions!

  3. Don’t have any recent ones because they are never together. Divorce negotiations or she isn’t here anymore makes that pretty impossible.

    • Proud Mary says:

Exactly, Susan, Exactly. Saw your post, after mine below. It’s their attempt to hide the truth that gets them in all the tangled web situations. Just tell the truth and move on, is my advice. The sooner, the better. I think Charles, despite coming across as a hypocrite, is justifiably weary about a divorce, because they don’t have a popular monarch to steady them. It’s a pretty shaky boat right now.

    • esquire says:

I don’t think they are divorcing or it would look almost fraudulent releasing this photo.

  4. Nubia says:

This suit looks like the one William wore to Harry’s wedding, did Peg change from the red and Kate wore the same to her reception?

    • Hannah says:

Haha, you were quicker on the draw than me today ☺️ first thing I noticed too. It’s such a better suit than that red *dictator* uniform.

I know nothing about the military. So I don’t know if red uniform is more prestigious 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s just ugly

      • Ginger says:

He changed more times than Kate. How odd.

      • Becks1 says:

The red uniform was the Welsh guards I think? Or Irish? QEII insisted he wear it, it was apparently her big non-negotiable for their wedding.

      • Smart&Messy says:

The his Irish guard uniform and Kate’s wedding dress together give strong Disney/Cinderella vibes. At the time I thought it was deliberate, whoever came up with it.

    • Amanda says:

That was my first thought also, this isn’t the uniform from the ceremony. I can understand having a seperate outfit for the reception but why would only one of you change before the formal photos were done?

    • dynastysurf says:

From what I remember, he didn’t want to wear the red coat to the ceremony – he wanted to wear the one he has on in this photo. So it wouldn’t surprise me if he changed between the wedding and the afternoon reception.

    • BW says:

My first thought was, “That’s NOT what he wore to the wedding. When was this photo taken?”

      • Janine says:

There is a picture from their wedding where he drives navy cabrio. I believe that he was wearing the same uniform as in the anniversary photo.

      • MsDarcy says:

If it weren’t for the existence of (some of) Will’s hair in this photo, I’d almost think think Kate kept with her ‘lets wear white to Meghan’s wedding theme’ and brought out her own wedding dress for M&H’s reception.

    • seaflower says:

Good catch. That sleeve is overly large and poorly fitted.

      • BeanieBean says:

I noticed that on his red uniform, too. I thought maybe these were centuries old uniforms & made for someone else. Then realized, no, they’re just centuries old designs. From what I’ve observed (I worked on a military base once), standard-issue uniforms are rather ill-fitting, but they can be altered. Maybe William was too cheap to get his tailored properly.

    • Barb Mill says:

It is the same one he wore to Harry and Megan’s wedding. It’s why the put the black and white filter on it. I don’t think he was photoshopped in and that he just changed but with the history they have with photos this will always be something that is suspected.

  5. TigerMcQueen says:

Someone yesterday mentioned how easy it would be to find something unreleased for their wedding to send out for the anniversary, a here we go. They do read here, or at least take cues from social media.

In every one of their wedding pictures, I’m struck by how Khate is happy and Will looks like he’s going through the motions of just another royal appearance.

    • WiththeAmerican says:

That’s exactly what I see too.

    • BW says:

      I noticed that, too.

    • seaflower says:

    • Thea says:

My thoughts exactly, Tiger. Willy boy doesn’t exactly look chuffed (as the Brits say) in any of the wedding photos. I’m always reminded of the lip reading story about WanK’s wedding day where the tabloids reported Kate asking William “are you happy?” when they were leaving Westminster Abbey. What an odd question to ask your groom on your wedding day. One would think the joy should be obvious. It was passed off as Kate being so considerate and checking in with her new husband, but now with 13 years of hindsight, that tidbit suggests the tabs were already hinting back then that this was not the fairytale love wedding that was sold to the public.

      • BeanieBean says:

I always thought that was really weird, ‘are you happy now?’ The whole event is supposed to be joyous, although I understand a royal wedding would be stressful, too, for the participants, but still. Are you happy now? She’s coddling the big man-baby from the start.

      • KC says:

Do they seriously not have one candid shot taken during their entire 20-year relationship? And they can’t say it isn’t protocol because over the years even QEII and Phillip released candid photos that were really sweet.

      • StarWonderful says:

Didn’t he have a hangover on their wedding day?

      • Vik says:

Yes, he was badly hungover, reeked of alcohol and had terribly cold feet. When Harry and he disappeared, it was rumoured that Will got cold feet and had to be talked back into it. The rumours of his state of drunkenness and cold feet have been swirling since the wedding and have finally been confirmed by H (as far as I’m aware).

    • Lucy says:

He looked happier and more at ease in that picture with the blond woman when he was “selling” magazines to end homelessness than he does here.

      • Agnes says:

Yes, that’s how I knew the Farm Store video was fake: that look-alike Kate Gabrielle looked happy and at ease around (look-alike?) William. I’ve never seen Kate look happy and relaxed with Badly once. Drunk and relaxed, yes, but ill-at-ease when sober.

    • Smart&Messy says:

    • esquire says:

Yes, 100%, I just posted similar above. He looks like he’s on duty. It could be that he doesn’t want to let the world in on his emotions, to be fair. But I don’t think this was a love match. He broke up with her too many times looking for someone better. Kate was the last woman standing. There were many rumours over the years that he was hoping she’d move on so he wouldn’t have her as a choice.

    • esquire says:

I posted something similar above. Their’s was never a love story, too many rumours to not have some credence – and the breakups. She hung around long enough and he didn’t want to have a bride “chosen” for him, like his father. Anyone who followed the dating years knew how volatile the relationship was.

The Middleton mother was rumoured to have put pressure on him also. Her desperate quotes were reported at the time, so there must be some truth to it. He was backed into a corner like a caged animal.

  6. MaryContrary says:

I actually think it’s kind of cute. And obviously not released at the time because his hand on her hip was way too casual and risqué for the super formal look they always went for.

    • sevenblue says:

That is why it is so bizarre how Kate is now groping his ass in public.

    • BeanieBean says:

I was thinking how most wedding photos are more formal, with arms linked being the most contact between the two.

  7. L. says:

All I can look at is his shaved beard. Knowing how he wanted to keep it and was refused I giggle anytime I see a picture of his wedding.

    • Shawna says:

This is the one thing where I can actually empathize with William. QEII had a double standard for wedding beards. But William didn’t need to go apocalyptic on Harry.

      • Nerd says:

The Queen did him a favor because him wearing a beard wasn’t attractive at all… but Harry and his beard 😍

      • Shawna says:

@Nerd – lol, I did forget what William looked like with a beardlet, but your comment put the image right back into my head!

      • PotatoPuff says:

Lolllll. So true! Probably another bone of contention in William’s log against Harry.

      • StarWonderful says:

I wonder if William will grow a beard once he’s king.

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

I think Her Maj allowed Harry his because of how much he resembled his grandpa Philip wearing it. They have the same jawline, eyesmile. It was probably a nostalgia thing for her.

By contrast, William’s beard, like every other performance of his life, was half-assed and looked like 💩!

  8. Jais says:

Yeah, someone somewhere is reading the comments here or on SM. This was such an easy solution. And the same photographer as the one that Camilla and Charles just used. Maybe Millie is the new secret weapon😂

  9. Pinkosaurus says:

So William has been forced to admit he did in fact get married years ago and has a wife. I’m sure pillows were thrown at KP but I feel like the Charles and Camilla photo yesterday really backed him into a corner. Issuing a photo once per year on birthdays and anniversaries is so little effort but has been done frequently enough in the past, it looks really odd if they don’t.

Of course, if you’ve been trying to make the public forget your wife, it really puts a stick in the wheels of the hot swinging Prince summer you had planned 🤢

  10. Hannah says:

Why is he wearing a different uniform in the b&w BTS pic? I only recognise it cause it’s the same uniform he and Prince Harry wore for his and Meghan’s wedding (and which aesthetically and visually I find more appealing) than that hideous, garish red and gold from W&K’s actual wedding

    • sevenblue says:

Hmm I remember from the Spare that Will was forced to wear that red one. He wanted the color Harry wore in his wedding, but wasn’t allowed to. Maybe, in non-public portion of the wedding, he was allowed to wear what he wanted?

    • Mooney says:

Another photoshop job? Any experts around here please fill in.

      • Shab says:

It’s not photoshopped. I saw another unseen pic from their wedding a few years ago (they were sat on the sofa pictured behind them) and William is wearing the same outfit as above. This is the actual outfit he wanted to wear but the Queen made him wear the red one. I guess he compromised and wore the red one for the ceremony and this one for some of the pictures after the ceremony.

      • Monayin says:

I think it was photoshop that’s why KP said they are not going to release the picture to press anymore because they don’t want another kill notice. The palace background didn’t look same here.

      • Nerd says:

His hairline is different in the red uniform than it is in the black one. I can’t see it being angle related since it’s a noticeable widows peak in the red and straight across in the black.

    • Interested Gawker says:

That was the one he wanted to wear but QEII told him no. It’s interesting that he got one shot in this regalia, I suppose they never released it because the Firm preferred the red uniform.

I’m kind of glad William got a picture in the uniform he preferred. They should have let him wear it, he might have been happier at the ceremony if they did.

Different posters yesterday suggested a candid or unreleased photo of their wedding for WanK’s thirteenth anniversary, KP might do well to take some of our other sound advice to heart. Keep scrolling KP…

  11. Hypocrisy says:

Always hated all that lace, I would feel like I’m wearing a fitted doily. I can gladly say I have never seen their wedding, beyond photos.

    • WiththeAmerican says:

Same. my god I disliked that dress the day she wore it and I still do.

I absolutely loved Meghan’s dress, not knowing anything about her or having ever watched her in any show, and I seem to be the only one.

My taste in clothing predicted my future feelings though!

      • Hypocrisy says:

It reminds me of the Gunne Sax prom dress from hell my mother forced me to wear to prom. It was hideous add a floral fabric with that lace and it’s pretty close to that horrid prom dress.

      • paintybox says:

I loved Meghan’s wedding dress so much – you definitely weren’t the only one! (I loved their whole wedding minus the bad behavior of the royals). I never liked Kate’s dress at all. The top part, which is glued on like a body cast, and that ’50s Cinderella ballgown skirt look weird and don’t go together, and her hair looks too casual for such a stiff and boring throw-back dress. Her own sister upstaged her which was ridiculous and sad.

      • Agnes says:

@Hypocrisy Hahaha, Gunne Sax there’s a blast from the past. Yes, she looks like the mall.

      • aftershocks says:

Many observers, particularly those in the world of fashion recognized the classic simplicity of Meghan’s wedding dress as the lasting, iconic winner that it is. At the same time, there were plenty of less fashionably astute observers who expected lots of lace, uber design features and sparkly bling. None of that is Meghan’s vibe or style. The piéce de resistance, of course, was Meghan’s gorgeous embroidered wedding veil with the flowers of every Commonwealth country, along with flowers representing Meg’s home state of California.

FWIW, Meghan’s Stella McCartney wedding reception dress would have been her more laid-back choice for a ceremony dress had she not been marrying into the BRF.

      • aftershocks says:

Correction: pièce de résistance (= “the most important or remarkable feature”). 🫠 Plus, the California state flower is the golden poppy! 🏵

      • Jais says:

The way I love Meghan’s dress! I was one of the ones who was surprised by its simplicity. I had not been expecting it. But it’s shape was perfect. The pictures hold up so well. Timeless.

      • WiththeAmerican says:

Yay to everyone who agrees on Meghan’s dress, and I am happy to see the comment that fashion experts saw it for the exquisite high art it was!

And yeah that veil made it. She knows how to edit.

    • Harper says:

My peasant friends wore that exact same style for their weddings that they bought at suburban bridal shops pre-Kate so I thought it was so very blah. All that access to the best designers and we got that?

And didn’t the palace think her v-neck was too low for a church wedding? Shades of the flashing to come.

      • Liz says:

Aftershocks – I loved Meghan’s reception dress! And thought her wedding gown and veil were beautiful too

    • TigerMcQueen says:

I always hated that dress too. I don’t mind the lace so much, but I loathed the v-neck coupled with the high collar. It’s just visually unappealing. Also the boob darts. It looked like Pippa’s rear end wasn’t the only thing padded that day.

      • aftershocks says:

^^ I agree. The V-neck on Kate’s bridal dress was simply too severe and exaggerated, especially coupled with the dress’ high collar. Plus, something seemed off with Kate’s hair down wearing that style of veil and tiara.

      • Dee says:

It’s Princess Margaret’s wedding dress with lace thrown up on it. She even included the boob darts. Also wish she hadn’t used her own harsh makeup routine, but Kate will be remembered for her eyeliner.

      • Anna says:

oh man that eyeliner is so unfortunate

      • sparrow says:

Agree, particularly with aftershocks. Everything was hard edged, including her makeup. The lace, done really well, had the potential to soften it down but actually made the whole look even more severe; it looked so cheap and sharp.

    • Shawna says:

Honestly, I love both dresses. (All four, actually, with Meghan’s halter and Kate’s silk with some kind of stole.) Kate really hit the right notes for a “future king” wedding. That I will give her.

      • sparrow says:

I hated Kate’s dress, because I thought it looked basic with the lace and the bodice. And I actually didn’t much like Meghan’s. But I did love the reception outfits for both women. So, Shawna, overall I’m half way with you and that’s a hell of a lot. Ask my partner. I’m about a 12th way with him on the best of days!

      • Nic919 says:

No Kates reception dress with the gaudy sparkly belt and fur bolero was cheap and tacky. It was ugly as fuck then and remains ugly now.

The wedding dress was fine although an obvious attempt to copy Grace Kelly.

    • Thena says:

I feel like there was a good reason that Pippa’s bridesmaid dress was the one to go viral instead of Kate’s.

      • sparrow says:

Yes! Her sister’s dress was far better. But the whole day spent on about Pippa’s arse. It was really off kilter and bad taste. I wonder if all the misplaced attention pissed Kate off? I felt sorry for her but perhaps she really didn’t care, as long as she got married.

    • Truthiness says:

The lace on the dress looks so cheaply made, the dress looks generic to me. Very JC Penney. My great aunt made lace and it looked 30 leagues better.

I liked Pippa’s version of “look like you’re marrying into old money” wedding dress.

      • sparrow says:

You’re right, Truthiness. The more I look at the photo the more I realise what irks most is the deep v neckline. I’m itching to put a button in it so it doesn’t go so low. It looks cheap; like too much of a diversion to her body. When you look at it in detail, it’s all kinds of tacky, particularly at that point, what with the high collar of lace making the dip seem even lower. It’s not a nice dress.

      • Truthiness says:

Sparrow, A button would have improved it! Of all people who needed a button I wouldn’t have guessed Kate, ack

    • SenseOfTheAbsurd says:

Watched their wedding on and off, and remember thinking at the time that the dress was giving her phantom nipples, and when did William get so bald??

  12. Mooney says:

The media ordered, they have to follow. Nothing to see here folks 🤷🏻‍♀️

They really gave her such a small tiara you have to zoom to locate it. Specially being the future queen and all…even Meghan’s was bigger. No wonder after marriage she puts on the largest jewels she can find. That fake tiara was a clue enough.

  13. WiththeAmerican says:

Yay they managed the feat a 12 year old could do. While I was never a fan of their wedding or her dress, this is the best solution to avoiding fake photos.

And given the media playing dead, they have nothing to lose by feeding them 13 year old photos.

  14. Rapunzel says:

Forget the pic. The Fail also has a story about how Kate “strategically chased” Will in college. Complete with a pic of the see through dress! Wtf?

Very shady to have that kind of story. What’s going on?

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Interesting that they are bringing up the well known and obvious stalking that went on by her and her family. Given all the embiggening press from Ma this is likely some easy push back from Cams.

    • WiththeAmerican says:

I’m going to have to archive search that.

      • Advisor2U says:

True, I’ve seen the story as well. But the Fail took that ”Kate was a stalker” story + see-through pic down the minute KP released this unseen wedding pic, and replaced it with a more sycophantic story around noon local time.

Which convinced me that that article was a threat, because the Waleses had not released an anniversary pic between last night (for the morning papers, as usual) and noon today. KP panicked when they say that ”Kate was a stalker” story, and eventually released this unseen wedding pic.

The current powerplay between Willy (he seems to be losing) and the tabloids is interesting to watch.

      • sparrow says:

Are you saying this photo was put out to push the stalking story out of the way? Or was this released already? I’m interested in timelines!

      • Rapunzel says:

Advisor2u- they did not take the “strategically chased” story down. It’s still on the Fail, right above the story about the newly released wedding photo.

      • Advisor2U says:

Exactly what a said. This wedding pic swept the see-through pic + “Kate was a stalker” story from the Fail’s website today.

      • sparrow says:

Advisor2U. As Rapunzel says, the story is still there, beneath the wedding photo story. I’ve just checked. The comments under the Kate stalker article are interesting; there are quite a few positive Meghan comments to balance things up. Sometimes I wonder what “moderated” means on the DM. Probably they kick all the nice Meghan comments into the dirt but on days, like today, when they’re running multiple Kate stories, they don’t get the time to weed out the pro Meghan bits.

      • Advisor2U says:

It wás taken down. I see that they’ve put it back on, and edited it around 5 PM local time.

    • Tara says:

Well, this is one unflattering pic of her – did the beauty standards change so much, or was this look like a perfect match for an huevo?

  15. Flower says:

LMAO the KP media interns have found celebitchy !!!

Time to have some fun and throw a few red herrings in there !

  16. Harla A Brazen Hussy says:

I called this!! Yesterday I said once it was confirmed that Harry and Meghan are going to Nigeria, that WandK would release a photo!!

    • Proud Mary says:

Yes, you did Brazen. The monarchy is a joke and I love it!

    • Agreatreckoning says:

You absolutely did @Harla! Supposed “royal expert” says one thing and people who actually see how they operate speaks the truth.

  17. Monayin says:

Please tell me I’m not the only one think this is photoshop . Because that dress William wearing is from Sussex wedding , they attached William head from his wedding ( more hair), plus william looks little bit fat here when he looks slimmer in that red suit. Also that palace looks like Windsor castle for the background match eugiene and Sussex wedding photo. That’s why they release the photo in black and white. Buckingham palace doesn’t have this kind of wallpaper not at least during Wales wedding.

    • Berkeleyfarm says:

It could very well be, but in Spare Harry talked about how this is the uniform that Will would have liked to have worn to his wedding, but was overruled and was grumpy about it. (Especially when Harry got to wear his preferred uniform to his own wedding.) Others have noted that he did change after the ceremony.

    • Cairidh says:

Williams face looks much older than it did in 2011. He still looked young and beautiful then. However he did sometimes photograph badly such as in his 21st birthday portraits. I think they were by Mario Testino, William said he chose him because he could make photos where he didn’t look like a moose. But the results were very unflattering. A journalist wrote an article saying he’d lost his looks spectacularly – but he hadn’t, it was just a bad set of photos. There were lots of photos after that date of him looking beautiful. So this wedding photo could be photoshopped with old Williams face or it could have been a Less flattering take at the time.

  18. Debbie says:

Somehow, I’m not surprised by this. Yesterday I think someone here was spitting out ideas for the Wailes as to what to do in this situation, and these ideas included releasing a “never-before-seen” picture. Suddenly, voila! And this old photo happens to come with William’s old hair, so it’s a win-win for him as they don’t need to bother photoshopping those desperate wisps clinging to his scalp.

  19. LivingDesert says:

The bride is not blushing, but grinning like a cat who got the canary. 🙂

  20. Taffeta says:

I think it’s a very nice photo of both of them.

    • Berkeleyfarm says:

I do, as well. It does get neatly around the “no contemporary photos” issue.

      • aftershocks says:

^^ Sure, but KP did not come up with this solution on their own. They got it from reading advice from CBers on Celebitchy yesterday! Ha! 😜

    • sparrow says:

I think it’s a nice photo. I don’t like how flat the B&W makes it, and I don’t think she’s stunning, but wedding photos are generally nice and lovely to relook at. I remember the wedding.

  21. Pittie Mom says:

He changed into the black coat at some point because that’s what he was wearing when they drove away in the car after the wedding breakfast to…I think St. James’ Palace? I don’t know if he wore it for the actual breakfast though. Idk, maybe after the official portraits he yeeted the hideous red coat across the room.

  22. MrsCope says:

People Magazine (Simon Perry) referred to the photo as “stunning.”

    • BeanieBean says:

Oh, FFS, it’s not ‘stunning’. The brown-nosing of the press is so 🤮.

      • Renae says:

Its a “traditional” wedding picture. Nothing particularly good or bad….just blah (i have one just like it from my first wedding).
Willy makes that black?/blue? tunic look like pajamas. Don’t know why.

    • sparrow says:

Stunning is the go-to for her, and she isn’t. You bump into this type of woman every day in London and at every drop off and pick up at independent schools. I wish they’d stop with all this about her looks because it puts pressure on her. (I fully understand she’s a willing participant in this narrative and in on the editing etc but there must be a lot of pressure, all the same.)

  23. Digital Unicorn says:

Whenever I look at their wedding photos all I see are ‘friends with benefits’ who got married – there was not real love or warm, esp when compared to H&Ms wedding which was full of it.

Also, while her dress was lovely – her hair and makeup were tragic. That tiara and veil just begged for an up do to show them off properly. As for the makeup – she wiped off what the Bobbie Brown makeup artists did and did it herself as she wanted him to recognise her at the alter, apparently.

    • Christine says:

Harry was undressing Meghan with his eyes their entire wedding. This wedding was so boring, and it looks like it didn’t improve behind the scenes. How depressing.

    • Sarah says:

That’s kind of mean to the Bobbi Brown makeup artists, tbh!! lolz

    • Nerd says:

The sad thing about her trying to be more recognizable is that she looked nothing like she normally looks. I always thought that she wore entirely too much makeup because it didn’t look like her at all.

      • Lorelei says:

I admit I understand her wanting to look how she normally looks because I’m that way, too. Photographers always want me to take my glasses off for photos and I refuse every time because I’d be unrecognizable!
Same with the hair and makeup— I despise updos, and didn’t want to randomly wear one on my wedding day just because it’s considered fancier…I wanted to look like my regular self, just on a good day, lol. My hair was half up for my wedding, like Kate’s. (Obviously I didn’t have to account for a tiara, but still, I get where she was coming from.)

And I also wiped off a lot of the makeup that the makeup artist applied because I never wear makeup that heavy— but the difference between Kate and me is that I didn’t pile more on myself, I just toned down what the MUA had done.

      • Nic919 says:

She should have left it to professionals. The eyeliner was a decade out of style as it was and she was being filmed and photographed.

  24. Proud Mary says:

“We should really stop giving them all of this free advice.” Exactly what I thought when I saw the headline. Yep, it’s either over or she’s incapacitated (which in itself could mean a lot): too late to be copying the Sussexes on this one. I mean, even the black and white? The Sussexes are the gold standard that’s why those two mediocrities wanted them out.

  25. PinkOrchid says:

Never noticed this before, but William may have the sausage fingers gene, like his dad.

    • aftershocks says:

Yes, unfortunately, Peg does have those short, thick fingers. I’ve noticed this previously. Thankfully, Harry gets his nice hands and slimmer fingers from the Spencer side. Diana was looking out for her youngest son, even as he was developing in her womb! 🤭

  26. Michelle says:

Oh god, those pointy boobs will never not make me laugh!
Who in the hell thought Madonna Blonde Ambition Era darts on the tits was the best look for the future queen’s wedding dress? Pippa stole that show!

    • Defender of Cats says:

When I first saw that dress Madonna instantly came to mind. As for Pippa she did upstage her sister. Is was a bit weird seeing the horny press raving about her backside though.

  27. Mary Pester says:

See Harry, see! I DID get to wear what I wanted on my wedding day to mmmmm, oh yes Kate. See it looks really good on me, but I can’t understand why I have more hair in this picture than I did at the service!!! and my face looks quite fat!!

  28. Delphine says:

I’m just so glad she ditched that heavy under eye liner.

    • Cali says:

I think it was permanent eyeliner and not very well done at that. Carole also used to sport that look and I think Pippa may have as well.
      Not a good look.

      • sparrow says:

I always remember that fad. Does permanent liner fade? I think that was one of the reasons she might have declined Bobbi Brown’s offer to do her make up – perhaps she was embarrassed by how naff it was, even then.

  29. TurbanMa says:

There is something so strange about Kate in this picture. She already looks old?? Engagement pics in that blue dress and the ring, I don’t remember her already looking like this. I feel like they purposefully edited and aged her in this pic so it wouldn’t be such a stark comparison to what she looks like now, do you know what I mean? I do not think she looked like this on her wedding day except for something similar with the dark eye lining on the bottom of her eyes which took her way too long to stop doing. Huh. This pic is not real.

    • Square2 says:

She really looked like that at the ago of 30? 31? It’s all the photoshop & retouching from UK photographers & media the past decade trained you to think she looked younger.

    • Ennie says:

She was/is too thin . She looked better before she shed all that weight. She also seemingly got botox or some procedure on her eyes or brows, maybe to lift falling eyelids. Her brows were perfectly fine in old photos, whereas after marriage, that left brow started migrating North with a fury.

    • BeanieBean says:

I noticed her hands & wrists looked pretty veiny. She was probably dehydrated by this point in the day. The extreme dieting she did in the run up to the wedding likely contributed to the veiny-ness as well.

    • sparrow says:

She has always looked older than she is – it’s the Middleton genetics. It’s fine, some people are like that, but it must be an endless game to down play it. He looks younger than she does here. The black and white is horrible on this photo. People think it’s classy but unless it’s done well it looks so flat and grey.

  30. Anna M says:

Now I know they or their advisers read Celebitchy because that’s exactly what a few people here suggested they do, and here they are doing exactly that.

  31. Liz says:

For someone who is supposedly shy and an introvert she looked remarkably composed on her wedding day in front of billions.

For me the dress and the whole ceremony lacked magic. Whereas I thought H & M’s had it.

Diana’s too with her youthful beauty and getting the names wrong at the altar – a captivating bride and so endearing.

    • Inge says:

Her being shy and introvert is a blatent lie from the press. She was known as Kate Middlebum at school for mooning the boys, her shorts so short that she was told not to stand near a hatch on the yacht she worked at(she could choose her own and chose these), turning a slip into a see through dress and as a royal constantly flashing the world.

      • Debbie says:

Just a few months ago we saw her flash her legs right up to the thighs in that red riding hood getup while getting out of the car.

    • sparrow says:

Yes. I’m not shy nor an introvert, anything but. However, I hate attention, if that makes sense. I don’t know how she/Meghan got through their wedding days; I’ve commented below that I find it remarkable how anyone would. The stress would certainly have been overwhelming for me. So how did Shy Middleton get through it?

  32. [insert_catchy_name] says:

    Seems legit

  33. sparrow says:

I have never understood why people think she is stunning or beautiful etc. She is an attractive woman. That’s it. If you want beautiful in that family look to the Spencer daughters – William’s cousins. The late queen had more of a regal beauty. I just don’t get it. I always think back to a commenter on here who said Kate is enough of attractive to feel special to her tabloid fans. True unattainable beauty was Diana. And this should be an obvious enough statement for someone of Kate’s looks not to be offended by. Does that make sense? I think she knows what she looks like and is probably fed up of the pressure to be something other.

    • aftershocks says:

      ^^ 💯 🎯 👏🏽 Exactly @Sparrow.

    • Inge says:

‘William’s cousins. The late queen had more of a regal beauty. I just don’t get it. I always think back to a commenter on here who said Kate is enough of attractive to feel special to her tabloid fans.”

Then why do her ‘fans” constantly feel the need to photoshop her?

      • sparrow says:

I think the photoshopping is a deal between her and her special photographers. Even with photoshop she is attractive but not amazing, and this is what her fans get; without editing she is so standard I don’t think people would recognise her. Think of her lockdown photos at the garden centre etc. This is a whole heap of pressure on her and women in similar positions: they are expected to play into this and it would take someone of integrity, and confidence, to say, “stop with the editing, I am as I am”. I suspect I’m spoiled for real beauty, having grown up with Diana and the supers. “Beautiful” is becoming a redundant term these days.

    • BeanieBean says:

The three Spencer girls are absolutely beautiful. Their brother’s not too bad, either!

    • lanne says:

She’s the “ordinary girl” who bagged the Prince. That’s her appeal. It’s the same appeal of Anastasia Steele in 50 Shades of Gray and Bella whatever in Twilight. They are ordinary women with “nothing special about them” who get noticed by an important guy (prince, billionaire, vampire). Kate’s a blank slate just like the 2 fictional women, and all the fantasies about the “girl who gets the guy” can be projected on them.

      • Royal Downfall Watcher says:

You are so right Ianne! 100% She is the fantasy that some people have, coming true. But when you peak beneath the curtain, suddenly you see how dreadful it all is. Little girls are fed fairy tales about marrying a prince….and gotta say I would love it if I never had to work again and could pursue my passions and not stress about the mortgage BUT I also would hate to be surrounded by “narco toffs”, a cold unhappy and potentially abusive husband, and have zero actual friends. That seems very lonely and very scary tbh.

But if you don’t peak beneath the curtain, then it looks like a fantasy life. And I think that is what her followers are drinking.

    • WiththeAmerican says:

My dad calls her a “handsome woman.” I’ll just leave that here, because to this day I don’t know what he means by it, but he seems to think it’s a compliment. He also thinks Sigourney Weaver is “handsome.”

But K is no stunning beauty. Whereas, Meghan is frankly drop dead gorgeous from every angle. I mean, I know she’s studied posing, but she really didn’t need to. Never a bad angle.

      • sparrow says:

That made me laugh! I always think “handsome” is a strong face, like a Joan Crawford. I can see Sigourney Weaver fitting that description. Kate always seems the opposite of strong to me – like a pretty face or attractive. Someone who never stood out as gorgeous at school, strong face or not. Pretty tends to fade; beauty remains.

    • Nic919 says:

She is not an intimidating beauty but has looks most women have or can achieve. That’s why she has a certain segment of supporters. Kind of like Taylor Swift.

  34. Amy Bee says:

This old picture looks weird, like it pictures of Kate and William were taken separately. But I seem to remember seeing another wedding photo where William wore the black uniform. So I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt that he changed uniforms for some of the photos.

  35. L4Frimaire says:

What a strange photo. I don’t get the change in uniform.

  36. TheOriginalMia says:

He obviously threw a tantrum and to appease him they let him change into this uniform. But it wasn’t tailored to fit him. Kate looks uncomfortable. Why is her wrist turned like that to hold her bouquet. They look as if they’ve never touched each other. Photoshopped to hell and back and still can’t achieve the warmth and joy of the Sussexes’ post ceremony pics.

    • HeatherC says:

I was just thinking that. The way her wrist is just bothers me for some reason. (Maybe because it’s Monday and I’m just easily bothered today) but it looks unnatural even for a posed picture

      • TheOriginalMia says:

It’s so awkward! I actually don’t think she was holding it. I think her arm was in her lap, palm up. Thats the only thing that makes sense to me.

  37. Libra says:

This is credited to a professional photograph er. Can they Photoshop this without her knowledge?

  38. NikkiK says:

That’s a horrible picture. LOL. Should have kept in the archives.

    • sparrow says:

I see it as a nice photo because I see most wedding photos as “nice” and nostalgic. I remember the day clearly. But in and of itself it’s weird to see the dated make up and dress again, and the B&W doesn’t work. He looks much younger than she does. It’s a strange thing – this was a ‘modern’ wedding but her look was dated even on the day; I was shocked at how bright white, brittle and cheap the lace and bodice looked. I remember thinking that with all the money and planning she had available to her, this is what they came up with. In that regard it speaks a lot to her intrinsic taste. She was her permanent eyeliner. She was her tan. She was this lace. She was lower middle class through and through. Sorry, but that’s how I felt as a Brit. She was posh spice does royal wedding.

      • Dandelion2 says:

@Sparrow I am working class canadian and I remember knowing she was tacky and look dated. The tan/makeup/Grace-Kelly-Temu-dress was cheap looking!

      • sparrow says:

Thank you, Dandelion2! Sometimes I fear I come across as one hell of a snob. But her class runs right through her like a stick of rock. That’s no bad thing, at all. The thing is, her family are so damned determined to out class their class. The fake accent, the getting her to the right venues to be seen by William etc. I remember everyone saying, on the wedding day commentary no less, that she’d be a breath of fresh air for the BRF, what with her middle class background. And look what happened. The accent got ramped up even higher and she was perfectly happy to do as she was told in order to leave behind any traces of her middle class background.

      • WiththeAmerican says:

Omg yes, that stark white lace was so cheap looking, especially on camera and with that deep plunge and the boob darts. Wtf. She doesn’t have the coloring for that anyway.

That make up. Just so awful. No one in camera wears eye liner like that on the bottom, it doesn’t photograph well.

Everything about her taste is so basic. She’s a Stanley tumbler at target.

      • Magdalena says:

She has always looked older than he does. When they walked in for the engagement photocall I remember someone way back then said he looked like a young man escorting his older aunt into a room. Her face looked so incredibly hard, even in the interview. And there was no warmth. But there was definitely a look of TRIUMPH. She had shown those toffs and other naysayers that she had WON. It was the same at the wedding. That’s how she could look so composed. She won. Her behaviour at points in the ceremony was so inappropriate, but she didn’t care. SHE was marrying the future king – even though he didn’t even turn to watch her walking up the aisle towards him. The campaign to paint her as “the inevitable” despite the numerous breakups bore fruit. She (and Carole and the tabloid hacks and photographers they befriended) won. That was the whole vibe.

      • Nic919 says:

The media lied about the fresh air stuff because she had already been called lazy during the dating years by the Queen no less. Everyone just kept quiet because William pulled the trigger.

      • Belinda says:

@Magdalena – yes, he didnt look at her or turn around as she walked up the aisle, that struck me too!!!!!!!!! He even looked slightly embarrassed and shifty with that half rueful smirk on his face. Im in my sixties so I’ve been to a fair amount of weddings in my time, and it’s a dead giveaway as to the feelings of the groom imo. Ive seen tough Army men melt when the bride walks up the aisle, and the look of sheer pride, love, and feeling of “She’s here, I’m marrying her, nothing compares to this moment”. And, unfortunately I’ve seen a few “oh well, let’s get on with it, but I’d rather be down the pub with my mates” reactions as well. And William was definitely in the latter, imo.

  39. Pork Belly says:

Couldn’t figure out why everyone was ooohing & aaahing over that dress for the longest time until I saw Fergie’s and was reminded of how some “fashion “ can date so horribly. I haven’t made the same peace with her makeup though – it’s too severe for daytime.

  40. sparrow says:

I hate lace. It’s cheap and it’s awful. To get it right takes class. Naomi Biden’s dress was beautiful. The fundamental problem here is, her make up and the lace and the pointy bra section date it; there is nothing timeless about her look. Such a shame. Such a shame, too, that her sister’s dress had more class about it, despite the awful commentary about her arse throughout the whole day.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

I actually preferred Pippa’s lace wedding dress to this one – I don’t hate Kate’s dress, it is lovely but it would have looked amazing on someone with a bit of personality about them. As always the dress wore her.

      • Harper says:

I loved Pippa’s wedding gown and her whole look. To me, it looked much more expensive and better executed than Kate’s.

      • sparrow says:

I’m talking about Pippa as bridesmaid, when she wore that simple white dress and everyone was talking about her bum. The dress, in its simplicity, was nicer than her sister’s wedding dress. But yes Pippa’s actual wedding dress was nicer, as well!

      • Truthiness says:

💯 agree on Pippa’s wedding dress. She really nailed it.

  41. bettyrose says:

I was at a social event last night where the discussion of Gaza was getting really heavy, so to lighten the mood I made a joke about the BRF. Immediately, someone who I wouldn’t think follows royal gossip says “Do you know where Kate is?” LOLZ! A table of very serious type Boomers, and *everyone* understood the reference. It cannot be overstated how badly this has been handled.

    • Proud Mary says:

People keep intimating that this is about bad PR, and I’m one of those who have. But now I’m wondering, what if the truth is worst than what KP has done so far? That is, is it the case that the bad PR is better than telling the public about what’s truly happened to Kate? I don’t know what’s going on, but this very public woman has not been seen for 5 months. It just defies logic that they would endure all this bad PR, when all it would take is for her to simply make a public appearance.

      • bettyrose says:

@Mary – I truly don’t know what to think because there’s no explanation I can imagine that would reasonably justify this extended absence accompanied by Weekend @ Bernie’s antics. And if she just reappears one day as if nothing ever happened, the speculation will never end.

    • Belinda says:

@Bettyrose, my thirty year old son (vegan, left wing, strong feminist, tech guy) who has zero interest in the royals was exactly the same when I said about the Kate situation! Normally he just says “I have no interest in the royals, and don’t agree with hereditary privilege etc” and we talk about other things. But when I started with “I know you’re not interested, and won’t know about it but there’s a weird situation with Kate Middleton” he immediately said “she’s either dead, or something bad has happened to her”. I was flabbergasted, that he knew, and he said everyone knows, it’s all over social media. I then asked my twenty three year old son (into gaming big time, and usually doesn’t take notice of any current affairs, and same reaction!!!!!!

      • Liz says:

Belinda – that’s actually kind of reassuring. I thought it was only people on here questioning it

  42. Lady Digby says:

I can remember feeling surprised at how long they took to marry but then given the disaster of the parental marriage I accepted his engagement explanation that both needed to be certain of each other. I just wanted both sons to have the happy marriage that was denied to Diana. The current happy snaps of CC and Meg and Harry and in deed all snaps of them they are in sync and in love. There are some snaps of WK when they were young and looked happy together. Now on their 13th anniversary are either looking back and asking why went wrong? Why just settle because you’re used to someone? Kate looks happy and I think she loved him but why did William marry her? To my mind he opted for keeping his options open like dad did; marry a suitable wife for family and PR and have side chicks on the go? No wonder they are miserable together despite all that wealth and fawning press. A castle is just more rooms to be unhappy in, if you no longer love or even tolerate your spouse.

    • Coolcat says:

I don’t think she loved him. She loved the crown. It didn’t matter who the heir was to her. He settled as no one else wanted the job.

    • bettyrose says:

@Lady – Charles and William both held out for as long as the firm would allow, apparently living in some fantasy world that their birth right didn’t shackle them to their birth responsibilities. If we were talking about two other people, I might feel some sympathy at the lack of freedom to be your own person, but these two have had no qualms about imposing their selfishness on everyone around them.

  43. Critical Thinker says:

That is the WORST wedding day makeup I have ever seen!! LOL

    • sparrow says:

It was bad. I remember a radio 4 talk show shortly after the wedding wherein a MUA was a guest and asked about Kate’s wedding – basically he said whatever made her happy on the day, if she wanted to do her own makeup, that was her choice. I think the most telling part of that was: her make up stood out as so odd, it was talked about on radio 4! I also hated how low the neckline dipped. The lace was meant to look virginal and yet there was a deep V of hard upper rib cage on show. It all looked really plastic.

      • WiththeAmerican says:

I’m good friends with a film make up artist and he was so offended by her makeup. I mean, it’s just so bad. And so weird that she refused to listen to experts and this is how she’s memorialized on that day.

  44. Jay says:

Oh dear – this is not exactly what I had in mind when we suggested a “casual, behind the scenes” wedding photo yesterday! This is just another formal portrait! Even when they take our free advice, they mess it up. What value does this give to anyone?

I was imagining a photo of Kate “getting ready” accompanied by her sister, or stepping into the carriage that would take her to the church. Something dynamic! Maybe one of William getting his tie “fixed” by Charles ( as opposed to a photo with Harry or one where he [William] is obviously still hungover from the night before). Or a photo of them dancing! Hell, what about a photo of them facing each other! Is that too much to ask?

Cheesy though they may be, these kinds of moments are the bread and butter of wedding photographers, and I simply can’t believe that they wouldn’t have anything like that. My guess is that such a photo would be seen as “too personal”, but that’s kind of the point of an sm post, right?

Obviously, the Sussexes set the bar very high with plenty of impromptu moments and photos where they are clearly having fun and enjoying each other’s company shared from their wedding. I don’t expect the Wales to come anywhere close to that bar, but this? It’s giving junior prom – the awkwardness, the stiff pose, the black and white print, the pained smiles. All that’s missing is a “Class of 2011” banner.

@jay, ha! Yeah, I was thinking a more casual or candid BTS also. Wasn’t that a thing back then? This is very formal but oh well at least they put out something.

    • bettyrose says:

Okay, if we get a “casual and candid” photo in the next few days, we’ll know what’s up.

  45. Renae says:

@Jay, while I agree with your post, I take exception to your *banner*. To be correct, you would have to remove the ‘ Cl ‘.
    Then its perfection.😁

I give both Kate and Meghan credit for making it through their wedding days. I hate attention – probably one reason Mr and Mrs Sparrow are partner sparrows only. I can’t imagine not crumbling under the pressure of the press, the huge venues, the TV cameras, knowing millions were watching. What absolute hell levels of stress. Ditto William and Harry. I’d have fainted. That sounds pathetic; it is, but it’s also true.

    • bettyrose says:

@Sparrow – I have never in my life wanted a wedding. I hear you loud and clear. We had to make it legal at some point for issues regarding health care, but we eloped and told no one. I still say partner most of the time because to me that word more accurately describes the nature of our relationship.

      • sparrow says:

You’re on such a similar wavelength. I think we’ll end up doing similar, if we ever get round to it. Married on the quiet with witnesses and perhaps a party at some point later. It’s too much strife and too much glare.

      • Liz says:

Same here. I was a bridesmaid 3 times growing up and vowed I’d never have a big wedding. Went to the registry office with my husband and a couple of witnesses. And I’d rather watch a televised one than actually attend one 😀

    • Proud Mary says:

Truth be said, I paid more attention to Meghan’s wedding than Kate’s. I remember thinking that Meghan was really brave. I just don’t think I could have endured that, especially with that family of hers. Regarding Kate, what little I saw of her, made me think she was prepared to 100% turn herself over to the powers that be. She seemed to have zero input in that wedding, which is why I was surprised recently to learn that the Midds owed money for the wedding cake. I remember thinking Kate looked extremely thin, and that William looked pudgy. But I honestly was not following the royals much back then.

I’m no fan of Kate’s but if this ends up being her exit from royal life, I will feel a bit sad for her. Her entire being seems rapped up into being queen. Just not a way to go about life: never give your agency away to people who have complete control over the outcome. A cautionary tale for any woman wanting to marry close to that throne. If Kate the prototype Trad wife can’t survive, who can? Supposedly Meghan and Diana were too independent. But Kate is the one who “never put a foot wrong.” Time will tell.

      • Liz says:

This is so true. I remember thinking when Kate came on the scene it would work in her favour that she didn’t have Diana’s star power. She’d fit in, and never eclipse her husband or anyone else. She’d be what they ‘required’

Now in a surreal twist It seems to have gone very wrong for her too.

  47. Lulu says:

I have no explanation for him wearing a different uniform other than perhaps they posed for photos days before the wedding, and he assumed he would get his way, as usual, and wear the black uniform for his wedding.

    • Lulu says:

I had no idea he changed uniforms to go to the wedding breakfast. Shows I didn’t watch or pay attention to the wedding.

  48. TeamMontecito says:

That dodgy eyeliner reminds me of how I would use a Sharpie to “enhance” the cover models of my mom’s magazines from the 1980s.

  49. kelleybelle says:

Another trick to make the world think they’re still married, similar to articles by the RR like, “Love will get them through it.” Total bullroar.

  50. tamsin says:

It looks like a formal portrait, so William’s hands on Kate’s hips like that I find a big jarring. He look like he is about to lift for a dance move.

    • May says:

I think he meant to put his hand on her waist but in her padded wedding dress her waist became her hips!

  51. AC says:

I believe they’ve been getting advice from this forum since last year (maybe even previous years). they even use the same exact words lolZ..
Only if they can look at the actual root causes.

  52. Flower says:

I’d never noticed before how bad her make-up was on her wedding day. I’d seen discussion of it in forums but never really witnessed it like that.

It’s very much giving Essex dinner lady with the cartoon eyebrows, thick eyeliner and heavy blush, blue eyeliner would have completed the look – brits on the board will understand the reference….

  53. bisynaptic says:

    LOL CBs, you nailed it!

  54. wolfmammat says:

Hm.. that uniform was the one Harry actually wore on his wedding day. At the time I noted that it wasn’t flashy like the red one William had worn.

  55. BQM says:

We’ve always known William switched uniforms. We could see it in photos. He was wearing it when he and Kate drove from BP in his dad’s prized Aston Martin to get ready for the reception. William messed up the transmissIon or something too. 🙊 He drove with the hand brake on. This was the car Charles famously shooed Diana off the hood of at a polo match then anxiously inspected it for scratches.

  56. Annalise says:

Wow, I don’t remember the last time a “smile” SCREAMED “fake!” as William’s does. It almost looks like it’s hurting him to smile.
