Elizabeth Debicki in Dior at the Met Gala: gold princess?

Elizabeth Debicki was rocking a gold Dior gown last night described assinuous folds of glistening bronze silk velvet.” She was owning that look and that red carpet. She’s all decked out in Dior, with a headpiece, jewels and makeup by the designer. She just looks phenomenal and I appreciate that they let her neck go bare.

Alexandra Daddario has a goth vibe and look and she often knocks it out of the park. I don’t think last night’s Dior look was a win in that it didn’t need to be sheer, but it has a lot of great elements. I love the butterfly details on the skirt and her snake headdress is cool. Alexandra is so beautiful and unique looking. She’s wearing Dior makeup too. (I recently treated myself to one of their eyeshadow palettes and it’s so much better than the stuff I was using, which is actually disappointing since it cost $50!)

Rosalia was also in Dior, in a “structured bustier that elevated a timelessly rich colorway with a dramatic, exaggerated tailcoat.” The detail that went into this is exquisite and I’m sure designers and tailors can appreciate it. It needs a little more drama for the Met Gala though.

Matt Damon and Luciana were also in Dior. He’s not my favorite person but I like her and I hope they stay together forever! Her white column gown is fabulous.

Camila Mendes was in Altuzarra and she’s shown with the designer. At first glance this dress seems plain but when you see the details it’s beautifully draped with sequin stripes. I wish it was a different color though. There were too many flesh-toned gowns last night but this is more peach I guess.

That gold drains her completely, so it’s a no. It’s like the colour should’ve turned up on its own. Such a shame.

  2. Mle says:

Dior lipsticks are my favorite for color payoff and durability. I’ll have to give their shadows a try. I love Alexandra’s styling.

I love Elizabeth’s look. She looks like an ethereal sprite! I agree about Camillas gown. It’s beautiful, but a little more color would have helped make it one of my favorites.

  4. Jais says:

Splurged on the dior semi matte foundation and am happy with that choice. A little goes a long way and so I still haven’t used it all.
Edit: Wait, I lied. It’s Chanel not dior😂

Chanel is another great choice. Their eyeliners are worth it, silky smooth and long lasting.

  5. LivingDesert says:

Oh, Ms. Debicki. To start my day with a look at that – thank you! 🙂

And yes, the unadorned throat is the icing on the cake, because… how does one improve perfection anyway?

  6. Lightpurple says:

Elizabeth’s dress reminds me of her character in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies

  7. Josephine says:

I really like all of these looks. That gold dress looks like liquid, it’s exquisite.

  8. Shawna says:

Rosalia has such a pretty smile.

  9. tealily says:

You’re right about the flesh-colored dresses being everywhere. I feel like the folks who dressed in dark colors with dark makeup (like Zendaya obviously) were the ones who really stood out. That seems to be the emerging trend!

  10. Nanea says:

    Can’t stand sheers.

Why didn’t they go with the garden theme and use some green fabric that would have complimented AD’s skin tone?

  11. CherieG says:

Meh — each would be lovely on another red carpet, for the Met Gala they all lack a ‘wow’ factor.
Speaking only to the gowns – the ladies are lovely.

  12. Abby says:

My SIL was a buyer for Dior for several years and she gave me several fragrances (LOVE! LOVE!) some mascara that I’m sadly allergic to, and an eyeshadow palette that I adore. The color is so vibrant!

  13. AngryJayne says:

I don’t know about Alexandra having a goth look, but she certainly always manages to look startled.
