DM: Princess Kate is the ‘driving force’ behind her office’s latest Early Years busywork

One thing I haven’t missed this year is the collective delusion of royal reporters trying to pretend that the Princess of Wales’s Early Years busywork is groundbreaking, important or substantive. Kate has been trying to make “I’m a credible expert on the Early Years” into a thing for six years, the start of which coincided with the Duchess of Sussex’s substantive projects. They wanted Kate to have a “thing” too and Kate needed to look busy. So we’ve had to watch as Kate has spent years spinning her wheels with fakakta surveys and fancy “studies,” all of which remarkably come to the same conclusion: that people don’t know that the Early Years are important, and Kate must spread awareness of their importance. Speaking of, we’ve gotten an update on Kate’s “work,” which everyone swears she’s been monitoring from home.

The Princess of Wales is today revealed as the ‘driving force’ behind a new report calling on businesses to introduce more family-friendly working practices. Her Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood has unveiled a major new report which argues that investing in early childhood could generate more than £45.5 billion for the national economy each year.

Downing Street, as well as senior ministers in the departments of health and education, have already been briefed about its findings – although palace officials are at pains to point out that it is not a political campaign.

A Kensington Palace spokesman also stressed that the news should not be seen as Kate, 42, returning to work after undergoing major abdominal surgery and revealing she was undergoing ‘preventative chemotherapy’ for cancer. She has not undertaken public engagements at all this year. But they confirmed that she has been across every aspect of the report from home, despite her illness.

Her spokesman said: ‘The work of The Prince and Princess’ projects is “always on”…early childhood is a huge priority for The Princess and so she has been kept fully updated throughout the development of the Taskforce’s work and she has seen the report. ‘

A senior royal aide added: ‘The Princess of Wales was the driving force behind the business task force. She has been kept up to date since the inception of the task force and she has read the report and been briefed on it. This is a clear commitment she has made that throughout her life of public service that this will be focus. That will continue when she returns to work. But we have been really clear that she needs the space and the privacy to recover right now. She will return to work when she has had the green light from doctors.’

A source close to the Princess said: ‘She is excited about it. Action is so important for her, so having eight of the most important businesses in Britain come forward to make the case to their fellow business leaders is exciting to her. It’s a priority going forward.’

[From The Daily Mail]

Kate’s Centre for Early Childhood, Buttons and Gopher Wiglets really funded a landmark study which shows that businesses should adopt family-friendly working practices. That’s it. That’s the sum total of a year of research, surveys, busywork and manhours. What’s also funny to me is that Kate’s staff and her new private secretary are desperate to do something and make it sound like Kate is doing something, but they also want to ensure that absolutely no one expects to see or hear from Kate. “Kate’s working on this, we promise, but no, we will not answer any questions about her health, nor should you expect to see her any time soon.” Saturday will be the five-month anniversary of the last time Kate was credibly seen in public. She’s not scheduled to attend any of the upcoming events in June either.

Just think about it, there are actual stupid individuals that believe these stories.#whereiskate?

    • Wagiman says:

I think there are a lot, even *most * casual observers who believe this. Especially in the UK.. It’s weird how defensive British people can be about the royals, even those who say they don’t care about them. Over every age group I’ve observed this. They’ll say they don’t care (and they do SAY that) but show what they’re really like and criticise them and boom! It’s weird!

      • WithTheAmerican says:

some people will get really controlling if they feel like Kate is being asked to give proof of life. It’s very strange, a normal expectation has been completely warped into being “q-anon.”

Essentially anyone who doesn’t take the royals’ word for everything is a conspiracy theorist, according to many. To me, this looks like boot licking disease has taken hold. It’s pretty tragic, no wonder Brexit passed.

      • Mrs.Krabapple says:

My guess is, those people fantasize about being royal, so any critique or negative statement about the royals is taken personally. They might deny it’s their fantasy, but that’s just because they don’t want to be embarrassed by others seeing how juvenile/Disney princess their dream is.

      • Normal_Islander says:

As my username suggests, I’m British and I would like to stress that support for the BRF is greatly exaggerated by the BBC and our Right-leaning media. Public support for The Firm has actually dropped sharply since Brenda died and they’ve never been popular with younger age groups. “The Kate Effect” is also an invented phenomenon, you don’t see many people dressing like her and apparently fast fashion sites sell more copycat looks inspired by the Kardashians (who aren’t even that popular here). A lot of us can’t stand the BRF and would like to abolish the monarchy, the people who love them and stand up for them are just louder.

These people and media outlets also don’t actually love the BRF as people, it’s *the institution of the monarchy* they like. They know there isn’t any real justification for them and that the institution is fragile and that’s why they’re ramping up attempts to preserve it.

This is most obvious with Kate: If they genuinely liked and cared about her they’d be expressing concern and asking for proof of life. Instead they’re parrotting the “Nothing to see here” narrative and trying to stop people asking awkward questions.

Imagine if Harry or Meghan disappeared for months on end: can you imagine Sussex Squad behaving like this? Ditto for any other non-royal celebrity. It’s really quite sad when you think about it.

I’ve actually started to feel a bit sorry for Kate- while she knew what she was signing up for when she married William that family has form for treating women badly and no-one deserves this.

    • We don’t even know where she is. There is no proof that she is doing well. Peg seems to have her hidden somewhere. I doubt she is doing anything behind the scenes. This is just some crap do people don’t ask WHERE IS CANT.

      • HeatherC says:

She’s never done anything behind or in front of the scenes. Why are they expecting people to believe she’s started now when she’s “terribly sick” or whatever?

    • ML says:

      1. Why has Kate not been seen in public in a way in which the public is 100% sure it’s her?
      2. Why, when asked, has William consistently stated that she’s doing well, but she cannot be seen or heard from?
      3. How is early child development not political when all of the solutions to achieve that £45.5 billion savings are?
      4. I will continue to ask how someone who has made early child development improvements their goal, and after half a decade came up with a whole 5 question survey and who has utilized real life pie charts not done anything at all to improve child development? Almost a decade after taking this on, how many improvements is this royal responsible for?
      5. William has more power and resources and is not suffering from health issues: please issue the updates on all he’s done for mental health, women’s football, homelessness, etc,… and explain his absences.

      • Liz says:

        Excellent points ML

      • Lux says:

@ML, great observations/questions. I wanted to add that this whole “snippet” is about Kate working behind the scenes, with very scant details about the report itself. I want to know how it can help businesses save $45m. I want to know why investing in early childhood can benefit those businesses. Once again, all I know is that Kate is “working” and that she is “responsible” for this and she cares and is pushing for this but it’s “not political.” If she needs space and privacy and time, stop with these. If she can’t work then she can’t work; if she read a report that’s all she did.

      • Megan says:

Kate is obviously very sick. The royal reporters will dutifully report this and not ask any further questions about her health. It’s part of the invisible contract.

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

I think the Early Years nonsense was Kateatonic competing with her sister PippaTips. Didn’t Pipps get a degree in it?

        I’d like to add:

        6. Two children have also not been seen since Dec. 2023; and the only time the eldest was seen was at Villa Park where they did a public appearance that wouldn’t involve questions or even interactions with anyone else outside their security bubble. It feels like they only did that to show that the succession is intact? Like, if George wasn’t the heir’s heir, we wouldn’t have seen him at all either? Feels like a BP scheme.

      • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Here are undisputed “facts” that I can only look at and draw my own conclusions:

There is an extremely small chance that both Charles AND Kate had minor surgery at the same time for some unrelated issues, and then BOTH accidentally discovered they had cancer, which neither one will name.

Kate has not been seen in public since December.

Kate’s date of return to public life has continually been pushed back.

The palace released a mother’s day photo that was cribbed together from other/earlier photos, that they claimed William “took” and “Kate” edited.

The palace has demanded that some supposedly candid photos of Kate in public be taken down, but others are OK to post.

The palace won’t provide photos to the actual press anymore, only their own social media.

Kate has two nurses caring for her. Filipino nurses, if that matters (which apparently it does to William).

The palace says Kate is getting preventative chemotherapy. There is no such thing as preventative chemotherapy. It’s possible they meant adjuvant chemo, but patients don’t need to be under the care of two nurses for preventative/adjuvant chemo.

Kate is fine and doing well, but somehow also unable to work, be photographed, take a phone call, or take the kids to school.

The kids haven’t been seen in public either, except one carefully controlled appearance by George.

I have drawn my own conclusions, which may or may not be wrong. But I 100% do not believe the narrative the palace is spinning.

    • Agreatreckoning says:

‘A driving force’. /s She hasn’t been seen driving for almost 5 months. The last time I believe she’s been seen was when CarolE was driving her in 5 wheeled rental car looking like Bernie.

      Guffaw at all this nonsense.

I get they’re not being technical. Just saying.

  2. equality says:

So the big news is “woman reads reports generated by her own office”? You know what else could stimulate the economy in the UK? Having the moneys from the duchies and crown properties go into public coffers instead of to royals.

    • Cj says:

Doubt it’s even generated by HER office. At least 2 of the companies on the task force have been releasing studies on families and spearheading family friendly policies (like 6 months fully paid leave for new mothers AND fathers) in recent years.

Everyone’s just letting her do-nothing team take all the credit for their work in the hopes it is high profile and leads to more change.

    • Nic919 says:

She didn’t even read the reports before we were told she’s sick. The whole point of being a royal or patron is putting a face to an issue. She is not qualified to speak on any issue like this as an expert so her job is to be seen so that people can remember the issue because press attention is brought to the issue when she is seen.

This is a ridiculous joke and a lie that she has done any behind the scenes work. If she could take a brisk walk and go shopping a few months ago, she could do a video about this issue.

That she is being hidden away to this degree is just bizarre. Cancer patients don’t just disappear from the face of the earth. They continue to live their lives. It’s not like anyone expects her to work 40 hours a week, but to be so hidden for so long? That just adds shame to the other people living with cancer as if they should be hidden away too.

      • The Duchess says:

This entire saga is giving the house of wax. Is she even alive at this point? I mean, surely she is, but in what capacity? To think this woman could never resist an opportunity to step out and ‘steal’ some thunder, now she’s a total hermit? I don’t buy it one bit. Yes, she supposedly has cancer, but does anyone seriously think a person like Kitty wouldn’t milk it for everything it’s worth? Of course she would!

    • Ronaldinhio says:

Explaining Kate to an Australian relative she summarised – she is a voiceless, clothesline, fembot allowed only to speak about child focused issues reinforcing her non threatening womanliness.
She felt she was cut straight out of a Republican or madder religious cult dream wife catalogue.
Somehow I missed this take. I now can only see it.

  3. AI Kate is working

    • seaflower says:

“Hello chatGPT, tell me what would make the airly yars attractive to government and businesses”

    • Agnes says:

AI Kate generates the most beautiful pie charts the world has ever seen!

      • NotSoSocialB says:

That pie chart is laughable- my god, make it stop!

No one should believe anything the press prints about K now. The british press have no idea how strange and malicious this looks to the rest of the world.

  4. Piper says:

She’s seen the report – been across every aspect. I’m just imaging her propped up in a chair while someone flips through the report. The whole situation is just creepy at this point.

    • Where'sMyTiara says:

It’s been giving “Weekend at Bernie’s” since March, istg.

    • Liz says:

Notsosocialb – a surprising amount swallow what the media prints. I’m in the UK and no one around me is questioning it.

Yesterday I was on a train and met 2 lovely ladies from Oregon. I asked them what they thought of the Kate drama and they totally believe the press and that she’s ill and there is nothing untoward going on.

  5. StillDouchesOfCambridge says:

This is what Camilla’s efforts for the Rose effect are doing. Camilla’s court forcing out kkkhate’s side for comments since she cant/wont come out and literally nobody has seen her. NO ONE ever asked for an update on early years. Wtf is happening. #whereiskate

    • bisynaptic says:

      That was a quick turnaround!

      • Scorpio says:

Lordy, if she really is…. fill in the blank.. heads should roll for the lies.

    • Jais says:

Well an unnamed senior aide is saying she won’t return until she has a green light from the doctor. But that’s not exactly an official statement if the aide is unnamed.

      • Eurydice says:

Lol, no one needs an anonymous source to guess that – needing the green light from her doctor is an easy bet.

      • Jais says:

Yes it is obvious😂. But I was actually surprised they even said that since they barely discuss it at all.

    • Eurydice says:

So interesting. First, the Harry effect, now, the Rose effect. And all responses are lame.

  6. The Hench says:

Ah, welcome to Schrodinger’s Executive now. She’s the ‘driving force’ behind the report yet she had to be ‘briefed’ on it. She’s instrumental in its creation vs ‘she has read it’. She’s definitely working on stuff but don’t expect any work from her. She’s well enough to be ‘all over this project’ but not to write a social media post of a few words herself. ‘Action is so important to her’ but it’s a group of businesses that have actually done something.

I’m SO bored of this crap.

    • Roo says:

      Brilliant comment. 😂

    • equality says:

      Excellent analysis.

    • Becks1 says:

YES exactly my thoughts. Which is it, KP? Was she the driving force, or was she just briefed on it? the back and forth in this article is something else.

It sounds to me like if she’s aware of the report at all, it was from an email detailing the results and that’s about it. We all know she’s not a “driving force” for anything, even when she’s healthy.

Her little “notebook” will never not crack me up. That says all we need to know about how seriously to take her. And you can bet your @ss those experts in the room think the same thing.

    • AMTC says:

      Chefs kiss @ The Hench

    • Harper says:

Exactly @The Hench! This is all part of the Kate is functioning behind the scenes and her health is improving and not at all related to whatever Huevo and her got into the night of 12/28/23 narrative. They hear the chatter and want the peasants to think she’s busy and engaged, but KP fails on the details. If Kate were okay this would be accompanied by a little intro., tweet, or Insta post signed by C., all of which she was able to fake before the cancer announcement but has not been able to do since.

I saw a cover of the National Enquirer today on twitter about Kate’s chemo nightmare, including William’s fear she is going to die. It feels like that’s where we are headed.

      • The Hench says:

Yes – her life’s work and abiding passion doesn’t even merit a personal post of a few words. Not even one drafted by an aide that she gives the nod to sign ‘C’. I mean, at this point the lack of ANYTHING renders this whole story a farce.

      • SussexWatcher says:

Hench and Harper, exactly what you said!!

The whole article is contradictory, not to mention Huevo recently saying how well she’s doing…but she still can’t work or even be seen in public! Not one wave from a car window, not one photo from an easy engagement (sitting around talking to retirees). None of this makes sense.

And Hench, yes I agree that’s where we’re headed. (And where are the youngest two kids?!)

    • QuiteContrary says:

      Totally agree, Hench.

There’s quite a distance between she was a “driving force” and “she has seen the report.”

Not even “read” the report, but she’s “seen” it.

      • Katy says:

They held it up in front of her face while she blinked once for yes and twice for no. That counts as seeing it.

I honestly hope nothing awful is happening but this Early Years busywork PR is 3 months too late. So what gives and why are they only now running their usual playbook?

      • Harper says:

@Katy it’s part of the “all is well” narrative that they will reflect on when they announce the sad news about Kate taking a turn for the worse. “As late as May 21, Kate was doing well, even driving her Early Years task force to complete and issue a groundbreaking report. Sadly, her recovery proved to be short-lived” blah blah blah.

    • Christine says:

Perfectly said. This is completely creepy.

  7. Happyoften says:

When she first went missing, I was not interested. When the fakata pics came out, that was funny, but a little weird. I now believe that William strangled her Christmas morning because she gave him ANOTHER pair of “joke” socks, and she is currently on life support in one of the weirdly named rooms in one of their lesser used castles.

And she has never been interested in the early years project. Well, vaguely maybe. But not, like, DO anything interested.

  8. bisynaptic says:

I guess this means Kate’s alive, at least. I don’t see any else’s having any interest in perpetuating the Early Years schtick.

    • Nerd says:

It doesn’t mean anything. They say this is her “life’s work” but she has only been part of it for six years and is only attached to it when they mention the works of others. Her name can be used regardless of her health and that is exactly what they are doing and have been doing for years.

      • SussexWatcher says:

I agree, Nerd. And I’d add that just because this “study” is being released now doesn’t mean it was done in the last 6 months since her disappearance (meaning she had nothing to do with it coming out now). Studies take time to produce! This could have been done over the course of 2023 and we’re just now getting the results.

Everything the palace and “palace sources” say is a lie.

      • bisynaptic says:

You misunderstood my comment: as far as I can see, Kate is the only person who has a vested interest in pushing the idea that she “works” on the “early years” issue and that she is “involved“ in her Early Years project. William, Charles… the rest of the royal family don’t care. Even actual experts in “early years” aren’t vested in pushing the idea that Kate is making a significant impact. Only Kate (and the Middletons) have an interest in this line.

      • Libra says:

@hench; your critical thinking skills are right on target. Unfortunately not everyone who reads this article on the early years is similarly blessed.

    • Nic919 says:

This could easily come from Lee Thompson and Kate have no idea about it. He’s responsible for the PR mess so he has a vested interest in trying to contain the rumours that are resurfacing again. The latest one being she overdose on sleeping pills on Dec 28.

      • bisynaptic says:

I doubt it. Thompson is William’s man… and William has no interest in fluffing up Kate’s “hard worker“ or “CEO” bona fides.

  9. Jay says:

Ooh, top CEO has “seen a report”! And she never left, she is “always on”! Sure. This mostly just sounds like the early years folks are trying their best to attach their absent benefactor’s name in an effort to generate interest.

  10. Elizabeth says:

So, a bunch of money was spent on a report saying what people have been saying for years: that businesses should introduce family-friendly work practices. Wow, that is new and ground-breaking, and the Tory government will do nothing.

    • JP says:

That’s what kills me about all her early years initiatives. It’s based on research that’s already been done. It just rephrases everything to make it look like she’s doing something new.

      • Christine says:

Exactly. The narrative that Kate and KP are a think-tank of early childhood development is purely driven by envy of Meghan. I feel sorry for the people for whom this is their life’s work, and have to act like Kate is in any way driving research or raising money.

  11. Nanea says:

Kate didn’t work on this project *before*, and she most certainly isn’t working on it now.

I mean, her copying those pie charts with pen on paper was all the proof we needed that Kate can’t*, and the way Keen isn’t even able to read straight off her cue cards without stumbling.

If someone was passionate about a project, things would be different. Sad that they’re stuck with an incurious, unfeeling, incapable and unwilling patron.

Who are they trying to fool?

Especially now, with no proof of life, and the many, many PR blunders and own goals of KP, the BaRF and the 🗑📰, who all can’t be bothered to do their jobs.

    * huge thanks to Kaiser for always including those particular pics as a reminder.

    • HuffnPuff says:

It’s a puff project. Whomever picked it for her realized that. It just looks good in news stories but it would take government and private investments to make it happen. That’s not something a royal family member can pull off – definitely not this one. And if they don’t want people asking where she is or what her status is, they shouldn’t post drivel like this.

  12. Ginger says:

Kate’s early years “work” is the equivalent of: Grass is green, the sky is blue and water is wet. These are things a pediatrician tells new parents during an infants checkup.

Also, KP clearly put this out there because more and more people are wondering where Kate is. They see Charles ( in his mid 70’s ) out there working but no Kate.

    • Becks1 says:

I think so too. We’re not at March levels yet of people wondering, but we’re heading into what is traditionally seen (IMO) as a busy but lightweight season for the royals – garden parties, Ascot, Trooping, Wimbledon, the Chelsea Flower Show – we usually see the royals a great deal at these events and others, but they’re not necessarily the basic meet and greets etc that they do the rest of the year.

So I think people are going to be wondering where Kate is. If she’s so sick she can’t walk onto the balcony at Trooping, then people are going to ask – “wtf is actually wrong with her.”

it’s also going to be a really bad look if she can’t do anything but somehow manages to show up to Wimbledon.

      • Lorelei says:

@Becks, I’m so. curious. about what will happen with Kate. My gut tells me that her prognosis is very poor, and she’s trying to come to terms with it and spend as much time with her children as possible while she still can.

But then I remember we cannot trust a word from KP, and am afraid I’ll feel like a complete idiot when she comes strutting out onto the balcony at Trooping (or Wimbledon, or wherever). She could be off on a beach somewhere drinking crack babies for all we know.

I feel like it could go either way? And I guess we probably have a few more months of wondering before the media starts to get antsy again and demanding answers.

  13. JENNIFER says:

Have seen it and worked on it, are two different things.

  14. Jais says:

I haven’t missed the early years stuff either. I find it offensive and infantilizing. Telling the public the early years are important for years as if we’re stupid. It’s shallow.

    • HuffnPuff says:

Exactly! It’s all fluff with no solution. We get so many messages about how we are all doing it wrong and from privileged people. In the US, we heard from a millionaire that his wife is happy being a wife and mom. Well of course she is! The rest of us have to decide on food and housing or quality education. We don’t get all of it and we certainly don’t get any of that without both parents working.

    • Liz says:

It is Jais. Shallow and unoriginal and delivered in monotone by an empty headed automaton.

All that money and staff and that’s the best they could come up with.

  15. Pomski says:

She’s unwell and recovering at home while taking care of three young children. So where does she get the time or energy to be a driving force behind a major initiative? Privacy!

    • lamejudi says:

I’m getting whiplash from trying to follow all of these varying stories.

    • Serena says:

Didn’t Willy say she’s fine though? Which is it?

    • Nuks says:

😂 exactly @pomski. “Privacy!” At the end of everything. No privacy for Megan or Harry, just Kate.

I truly hate conspiracies with a passion, but even I have to say I don’t think we’re gonna see this lady In public again.

    • Unblinkered says:

Can’t believe she’s at home caring for three young children. I’ve always thought she’s – true to type – at her parents.

      • Kat says:

She always seems to be “at her parents”.
I don’t think she can function at all without her Mummy and Daddy.Even before her vanishing.

  16. Tessa says:

Oh wow she read the report.

    • QuiteContrary says:

They didn’t even say that, Tessa. They said she’s “seen” the report.

  17. Amy Bee says:

The reporting on these findings is just bad. What are some the business practices? Her work is not scrutinized in anyway.

  18. M says:

Never seen someone so sick she can’t be seen for even 5 seconds but is able to be the “driving force” behind something. Not to mention, all this treatment she’s received – are they doing it at home? Is it hospice care? Not one person has seen her going to or coming from any appointments for 3 months? Don’t pee on my leg and tell me it’s raining.

  19. Royal Downfall Watcher says:

I LOATHE this bs busywork. As a mother as a human being, I find it offensive on every level that she burns through tax dollars to prove that water is wet. People need help in the UK. Kids need help. Kids need food, shelter, an education and to feel safe and protected. Where are her studies going?? Will she fund shelters? Help fund women who are trying to escape DV to protect their kids? Will this forking organization DO ANYTHING?!?

It is exasperating, offensive and utterly ugly to keep pushing this busy work. I’m sure the next study will be “kids don’t do well when they are starving”. And then she won’t so much as donate a granola bar to a daycare.

This is such an ugly ugly thing to keep pushing. I’m shocked they can’t think up something better. Anything would be better at this point.

    • Royal Downfall Watcher says:

Just gonna add that this is likely not even Kate’s doing. It’s her team. And so I can’t even put the blame on her now if she is sick. It’s incredible that her team can’t come up with something else. Like ten people in a room and they can’t come up with a better study???? Argh!

    • SarahCS says:

To add, all of this in a country where a quarter of children now live below the poverty line. One in four. But let’s not talk about that actual fire that needs to be put out.

      • Royal Donwnfall Watcher says:

This exactly! This is what ticks me off so much. This project COULD be good if anything was actually done. But as far as I can tell, the intent of this project, isn’t to help people, its to give a certain lady some photo opps. Its horrid.

    • Christine says:

I’m with you. It’s bad enough that she is completely uninterested in anything that resembles working to use her platform to help others. To slap her name on things that she doesn’t spare a second thinking about and expecting people to praise her for it is just too much.

    • Barb Mill says:

The problem is that Kate just doesn’t have a passion for anything so they have to have busy work. William doesn’t either but at least Earthshot does actually do something even though it’s all in spite of Will not because of it.

  20. teresa says:

I’m sorry they feel the need to do this. Chemotherapy and radiation are absolutely brutal. Chemo is worse of course, you lose your hair, the drugs your own make your face swell, it makes you unbelievably tired, sometimes you lose your hearing. It’s a terrible thing. I feel bad that they are not explaining this to the public. People should know how difficult it is and yet all they care about is, she’s fine, she’s working.. jeebus.

    • lanne says:

Charles is going through the same thing. he’s older. He’s working. My mom went through cancer 3 times. She was working during bout #2, and she went to work. Yes, chemo is brutal, but it’s a cycle–you take the drugs, you feel terrible, you recover a bit. You’re told to go back to your life when you’re able. You’re not told to just wallow in misery. She could have been a role model for living with treatment, as most people, including her FIL) must do.

If her cancer is a real thing, why is she being treated differently? Is she even alive? Is she even conscious? The way that KP is dealing with her cancer makes you wonder. At best, this is the continued infantilization of a grown ass woman (it’s preventative chemo, we were told, right?). At worst, it’s a cover up for something so nefarious that they can’t even provide proof of life–unconscious, disfigurement, disability. It’s getting uglier and uglier. She seems to have been written out of the story without anyone seeming to notice or care.

      • Interested Gawker says:

“At worst, it’s a cover up for something so nefarious that they can’t even provide proof of life–unconscious, disfigurement, disability.”

That’s the basic fact. Kate can find the photographer’s lens like a homing device, all these years, she made a point of being seen, that was a priority for her. From the very beginning of all this that’s the one thing KP botched and can’t correct. They would have thrown off suspicion, not indefinitely but bought time, if they had a grasp of what the rest of us were used to in MaMidds embiggening. That’s what makes their moves shady even before you throw in the faked sightings.

The simplest and most effective way to stop speculation is to show her. They actually want people to argue and natter over ‘what might be wrong with her’ because it slows down asking the basic demand of why have we had no proof of life in nearly five months. They want people to titter about the Rocksavages, they want people to get bogged down over red meat ‘Breaking News’ on social media so they can pretend any criticism is ‘just conspiracy theories’.

It’s clear they don’t want to disclose with what happened to her but why are they pretending she’s able to bop about a farm store one minute and too sick to function the next?

      • SussexWatcher says:

Lanne – I agree with you. Too much of what they’ve said doesn’t add up. Plus, compare her “had cancer, receiving adjunct chemo” with the much older Chuckles who has active cancer. How is he able to work and be seen and function somewhat normally? Millions of people go through chemotherapy – but how many completely fall off the face of the earth for 5 months?

Kate can’t simultaneously be crippled for 5 months with cancer treatments and also be fine (according to her husband). She can’t simultaneously be able to oversee this report and also be so sick she can’t even step out of doors. She can’t simultaneously be the person in the car with MaMidds one week and the person in the Mother’s Day frankenphoto the next week.

Nothing they are saying makes sense or adds up.

      • H says:

Lanne – while I get your frustration it is not fair to compare any other individual person’s cancer experience and what they can handle with another. My colleague’s vibrant young wife just passed away after a shockingly brief and brutal cancer battle. And yet my elderly -stage iv – family member has recovered a decent quality of life and is enjoying her friends and hobbies with minimal pain more than a year on. Living and being somewhat productive with the disease. This is not possible for everyone even the young.

We truly do not know how it is for anyone, including Kate. Which is what makes all these reports so strange given we aren’t seeing her and the conflicting messages

    • SussexWatcher says:

Teresa, at this point many people just want to know she’s alive and conscious. It’s not about making her work.

And I agree with you that it’s weird and interesting that her staff aren’t using her illness as a chance to educate the public or encourage people to get screened or how to recognize the signs of whatever type of cancer she supposedly has. Why is that, do you think? You’re right that this could be a great opportunity to educate the public so why are they acting so squirrelly?

    • Nic919 says:

They are trying to have it both ways though. She can’t be having such a hard time with the chemo that she can’t be seen since December but also be a driving force for anything.

I’m not sure why they even bothered to do this because they are only reminding everyone of just how weird this whole situation has been.

    • Louisa says:

I apologize if this is an insensitive or ignorant question, but is chemo as a “prevention” actually a thing that happens? As she (or AI) said they got the cancer cells during her surgery so what is the chemo for? I’ve had surgery to remove cancer cells from my breast and now have to go for a mamo and MRI every 6 months but chemo seems odd when there are no cancer cells.

      • Paisley25 says:

Yes, preventative chemo is a real thing. My mom recently had a tumor in her uterus. Laparoscopic surgery to remove the uterus, ovaries, some lymph nodes and parts of her cervix. Stage 1b. They thought they got everything, but if cancer came back it would most likely come back at the part of her cervix they left. We had long conversations with her medical team about preventative radiation and chemo, with an emphasis on radiation. My mom opted not to due to her advanced age. If she was younger, she probably would have because there would be more years for the cancer to possibly come back..

And my very elderly mother was out of the hospital after one day with over the counter pain relief. She felt fine except a little sore. Checkups every six months for five years.

      • Mrs.Krabapple says:

It’s not really “preventative” as the palace claimed, its more like *treatment* for any cancer cells that remain after surgery, even if they aren’t sure there actually are cancer cells still present (because they may not be able to spot them). So it’s treating cancer cells that *might* still be present, whether doctors can spot them or not, but not actually preventing any future cancer cells.

    • BeanieBean says:

People do know. Everybody, literally everybody, knows someone who has gone through or is currently going through cancer treatment.

  21. Serena says:

They really keep saying the most basic common sht and then claim they have researched and worked hard for a year on it 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣, I can’t-

  22. Angied says:

What’s funny is that the U.S. has done this years ago in the 60’s. Why did it take so long for the U.K. to discover this. I can’t believe that they are trying to pass this off as something new. I was a Education major in college in the 70’s and this was old news. Head Start was a early years program in the U.S. as well as many community based programs. Are people in the U.K. this naive? When Jill Biden was there she must of thought these people are really behind the U.S. when it comes to this. Who would have thought that children being involved in early years programs would be beneficial to their early development. This isn’t rocket science.

    • sevenblue says:

I read that UK had already similar programs, but the Tory government, who has been in charge for more than a decade, basically got rid of it all to reduce public spending. That’s why there were multiple articles warning Kate not to get political when she first announced the program. That is also why she can’t do anything but an empty awareness program.

      • SarahCS says:

I think it was called Sure Start, the last labour government brought it in then the tories dismantled it along with everything else that doesn’t make rich people richer.

      • WithTheAmerican says:

The Tories have almost destroyed the NHS and emergency services, too. They just want all of the money for their own kind, everyone else can suffer.

  23. Brassy Rebel says:

William and Kate are “always on” even when not seen in public for months. Just trying to convince us that they work when we know they don’t.

    • QuiteContrary says:

Yeah, I lol’d at that line: “The work of The Prince and Princess’ projects is ‘always on’…”

      Sure, Jan.

  24. Gia says:

Some guy posted that Kate underwent some sort of colon procedure that leaves her unable to control her bowels. Whether that is true or not, I do have sympathy for a woman, whose only real draw is her looks, undergoing some sort of medical issue that hampers the only real assets she has.

    • lanne says:

Another rumor. All these rumors do her no favors. If KP doesn’t control this narrative, the public will go off the rails with their speculation. I could spread a rumor that she has uncontrollable explosive projectile diarrhea. That would be incredibly cruel, especially if she is having bowel issues. Obviously I’m not going to do that, but the KP info vacuum makes ridiculous spec more likely.

      • Julianna says:

I actually 100% believe KP is behind some of these rumors and “insider information” leaks.

      • Julianna says:

There are a million rumors of what has happened to Kate. Many are likely spread from KP themselves.

There is effective treatment and surgery for bowel incontinence.

Also even IF she did struggle with incontinence it wouldn’t cause her to literally vanish for 5 months and not be able to do a simple zoom call, take an actual picture with her children or wave from car window.

      • Becks1 says:

yeah all the rumors from people who “know” something are getting tiresome and I wish people would stop stating them as fact. Now, I don’t necessarily blame people for taking all these rumors seriously, because there is a significant absence of information from KP and one video in March isn’t going to quell speculation forever.

In the past 5 months, we’ve heard:

Kate went straight to Anmer after the operation.
        Kate is in Mustique.
Kate is at Windsor but travels to Windsor for weekends via helicopter.
Kate is in some form of rehab.
        Kate has ovarian cancer.
Kate is dead and William is responsible.
        Kate had a colon resection.
        Kate needs a colostomy bag.
Louis broke both her legs (I’m sorry, that one still makes me laugh in a weird way. Because what??)
        Kate is with her parents.
Kate is at all the kids’ sporting events.
        The kids aren’t in school.

We actually know…absolutely nothing, since we can’t even assume that KP is telling the truth about anything. People put a lot of weight on the ambulance convoy in December but we have no proof that involved Kate in any way, its just another conspiracy theory thats become accepted as fact.

Is it possible that some of the above theories/rumors-presented-as-facts are truth? Yes. But at this point we just have no clue. And there’s enough rumors out there that at the end of the day, a lot of people are going to insist they were right all along because well…..someone is bound to be right about what’s happening.

So I’m going to give “some guy” posting on twitter the same weight I’m giving the above theories. It’s possible.

But again, this is on KP because they’ve created the void that people are going to fill. And the more we see Charles, and the longer we go without seeing Kate, the greater that void becomes.

      • Nic919 says:

There have been more rumours popping up over the weekend. Not sure where it is coming from, but I think the bench video has faded in its effectiveness in shutting down all questions. With Trooping and Wimbledon coming up, this is going to get louder.

    • Jay says:

There are lots of rumours of a significant removal of Kate’s digestive system, but then these are coupled with videos being put out by KP that purport to show Kate lifting heavy bags and bouncing through the farmer’s market. They also have her helicoptering to Anmer several times. So someone at KP needs to get the story straight if they are lowering expectations.

Plus, as pointed out elsewhere in this thread, abdominal surgery doesn’t prevent you from doing calls, waving from a vehicle, or appearing on video if you wanted to. In fact, I recall a British colon cancer advocate who was recognized by the royals for her social media work dispelling myths about the condition ( I think her handle was “bowel babe” or something similar). I remember that William travelled to her home to confer an honour to her before her death. I just looked up her name, Deborah James.

      • Jaded says:

I just had a complex cystectomy and bowel resection, removal of cervix, lymph nodes, urethra and half my vagina. I was out of hospital after a week, walking every day, cooking, doing light housework. Two months post-surgery I’m exercising, having dinner with friends and pretty much back to my normal life. I am going to have radiation in the next month or so which will knock me back a bit but this business of her not being seen at all for 5 months except for faked-up AI photos and a video of a healthy-looking fake Kate and William does not make sense. KP keeps spreading the nonsense that she is still “in recovery” from whatever is being hidden, and I think it’s more than “they found some cancer cells”.

    • Hypocrisy says:

Subtotal Colectomy is the procedure they were referring to and rumors are she has an ileostomy. It makes as much sense as any other theory.

  25. kyliegirl says:

It may be different in the UK, but as a cancer patient with 3 recurrences so I have been through most of the drills my doctors have never red light/green light working and being with people. They also want to help you to make sure you can work. This green light to work is so strange to me. Most of the guidelines are around food and definitely no buffets. They never told me to isolate or not to go to the movies or plays which have large gatherings. I understand being a public person adds additional pressure to be on, but I find it strange they couldn’t do small meetings, maybe receiving leaders from patronages to get updates at the palace rather than going to the patronages. At least a photo of the meeting would give the patronages a boost since that is the PR angle the palace says a royal patron brings attention and thus money. Now they are getting nothing. This is all very strange.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Kyliegirl, I’ve had family members who have also gone through the same or similar to you. None of this has ever made sense. I’ve finally concluded that she did have something, and she was quite ill. I just think at this point she’s recovering and doesn’t want to talk to any of the brf members or do any engagements. I admit that I really don’t care. I’m in the US and I don’t care about the Monarchy as a whole. At this point, I just shrug.

    • Lauren says:

Yeah the green light term strikes me as a mental health terminology

  26. BeanieBean says:

They told us this weeks/months ago. Somebody wrote a report, Kate was ‘aware of it’, blah blah blah, she’s working, she’s fine, but she has cancer! don’t expect to see her or anything! Are you crazy!

  27. Lulu says:

This is just like pre-Christmas 2023 🙂 Keen is still being praised for taking credit for others work.

  28. Blujfly says:

Her illness has undoubtedly delayed the true goal of this project, funneling money and support to her sister’s for profit “pippa’s playground”/Bucklebury Farm endeavor.

  29. Bad Janet says:

That slide makes me laugh so hard every time.

EdX has tons of free classes. Jas saying.

  30. Andrea says:

Does anyone find this post odd given that soft launch post about Camilla launching Rose into the fold so to speak? I am baffled what is going on at this point. I think Kate must be truly terribly sick and if it IS ovarian cancer (one of many rumors), she may sadly be on borrowed time and want to spend it with her children/family. It is the only thing that makes sense to me that no one has seen her in 5 Months.

  31. MsIam says:

Once again, its all very odd and very weird. Very North Korean. I never believed Kate was dead but as this drags on, I slowly find myself moving into that camp.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

I never believed she’s dead, and still don’t. I DO think there’s something else going on and the palace is lying about her actual condition. But what would be the point of saying she’s fine, if she was dead? At some point they would have to come clean. Whatever IS wrong with her, it has to be something that (1) prevents her from being seen in public, or talking on the phone, or taking the kids to school, etc.; (2) requires the care of two nurses; (3) prevents the kids from appearing at events; (4) is something they expect her to eventually recover from, but (5) do not have any time frame of how long that would take. My best guess has always been a stroke that affected her speech and movement, and she needs therapy before being seen in public.

  32. Snuffles says:

Look, I think everyone should be prepared for the very real possibility that Kate will never be seen again. I don’t know if they will go the Shelly Miscaivige route and claim she has withdrawn from public life and William “divorces” her so he can find a partner who will do the work.

Or they will continue to say she’s ill for the rest of the year and then say she passed away from complications.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

But how do you die from preventative chemo? Whatever is wrong with Kate, it has to be something that the royal family thinks/thought she will eventually recover from.

  33. WithTheAmerican says:

I agree with Kaiser, it ‘s been a relief to not have to hear about Kate’s infantile busywork.

I don’t think she’s capable of ever doing real work, so when she comes back from her “totally nothing bouncing at the farm shop/worst thing ever can’t work or even be seen for half a year/totally working from home!/spending last minutes with her kids/she’s fine” whatever, we should all be prepared to have her DoNothingness taken to Saint status.

  34. meredith says:

I find it extremely unsettling that there have been no updates about Kate. Nothing.

I don’t need a sick person paraded around in public. But she’s sent no public well-wishes to any of her patronages, and hasn’t even signed a tweet since that photoshop cock-up they made her take the blame for.

To be clear: I’m worried about the Firm doing something to her. And I think it’s completely reasonable to be concerned given what this family did to Diana and Meghan. The dynamics of being stuck in that family nearly drove them both to suicide.

And *we* are supposedly the freaks for pointing out our concern? How have the royalists completely forgotten what Diana and Meghan went through in very recent history?!

Worrying about a missing woman stuck in a family notorious for driving women to want to seek inpatient mental health treatment is somehow bullying!!!!

    • meredith says:

It’s just really grinding my gears that people who are genuinely concerned for Kate’s whereabouts are being branded a–holes. Like, we are the ones who know what this family is capable of. We are the ones who would raise enough of a stink to get the international media on the case if something truly s—y is happening.

Plus we know how the king is dealing with his cancer diagnosis and it’s the opposite of Kate. Are we supposed to believe that his prognosis is better than hers? Because that is the message that’s being sent.

    • Tiny says:

I certainly don’t care the bully is being bullied.

  35. tamsin says:

Corporations becoming more “family friendly” helps the middle class. If one in four children in UK is living under the poverty line, then urgent action is needed to help the children of the working poor and the unemployed. I mean the goal is to save the next generations, right? That is of course, a political issue.

  36. meredith says:

The top story on dailymail right now is about colon cancer rates exploding among young people.

it’s pretty clear they know that’s what kate has, they just can’t say it:

    • Kit says:

Colon cancer and other cancers are on the rise among younger people and this news has been reported widely for some time now. It may appear today as new news, but as news outlets cut budget, they do a lot of rinse and repeat, copy and paste articles to fill the empty columns.

There’s a lot of attempts by people to muddy MIA kate by affixing all kinds of theories to distract from any serious query into why such a public figure, whose living is heavily tax subsidized, is MIA.

      Obsfucation. Distraction. Lies.

  37. Libra says:

While everyone else is offering a g uess, here’s mine. Kate is doing well post up and during chemo . She finds this a handy excuse to stay home and internet shop while watching Nanny care for the children. Why work? What’s the point when she has the sympathy of the country thanks to the invisible contract. Chemo is tough but millions of people get up and shower and dress and show up every day. I know a few.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Yeah, Kate is incredibly lazy . . . but she is also vain, jealous, and insecure. She would never miss an opportunity to be the center of attention at Easter (which is when the palace said she would be back in public). She would not allow Rose to be photographed and published at meetings with the royals without her. And she would never allow Meghan to grab headlines as a Nigerian princess without trying to one-up her. I don’t believe Kate is dead, but I also don’t believe she’s getting preventative chemo, relaxing, and doing fine, either.

      • Unblinkered says:

You’ve summed her up pretty accurately, I’d say, Mrs Krabapple.
The urge to – attempt to – one-up must be overwhelming.
That said, I wish her well and a speedy recovery from whatever has occurred.

    • Mrs. Smith says:

I believe this whole exercise is another deflection (like the bench video) to buy KP more time.

  38. Kit says:

Every time I read Kate’s Royal Foundation Business Taskforce for Early Childhood, I’m reminded of that scene from Zoolander about Derek Zoolander’s “Center For Kids Who Can’t Read Good.”

Like Trump world, the British monarchy is better and scarier than Hollywood made-up script. So much waste. Around the world, Democracy is facing tremendous headwinds.

  39. I am in camp DV, we know the mooseknuckle has form for that

  40. Phlyfiremama says:

  41. therese says:

I’m with Kaiser on this. I am third-party embarrassed when they do this. Can’t help it. I remember a few years ago I learned from Lainey Gossip what fontrum is, someone you don’t know doing something stupid that causes you third-party embarrassment. I’m just glad they took her off the runway and let her be. The world could see this wasn’t working. How embarrassing can it be to have a conference with the wife of the President of the United States, and you can’t even talk, and you have a minder that says, we’re done. Remember her answer to being asked if she had seen Lilibet yet? Right after that is when her minder pulled the plug. Mrs. Biden was visibly and vocally shocked, and disappointed when she said, but I was looking forward to this, I had so many questions prepared. (Or something like that). The point is, Mrs. Biden was engaged, prepared, interested. I’m afraid I have called Kate profoundly stupid in the past. It was unkind, even though it might be true. I just don’t get that girl. But nonetheless, if she wasn’t capable or gifted (as she constantly wasn’t) why the bloody hell were they constantly trotting her out to fail over and over again? Find something else that she could cover and not fail at. Like this web site has said so often, she is good with old people and sports. Why not stick with that. Anyway, I no longer believe anything the Palace says, and I hope she finds healing and realizes that being out of the hyena cage is really a blessing in disguise. Go somewhere else. William is not a catch and is no blessing. There is no diadem or decoration in the world that can compensate for what the RF puts anyone through.

    • chiclit says:

Agree, why not work to her strengths which are clearly sport and old people. She could even take on support of more men’s sports, or work with a connection to health and exercise, right? And she can suck it up and attend stuff she doesn’t want to-am sure Cam is doing that. Trying to have her work with businesses is ridiculous. All of that being said, I am third party embarrassed that comms and administrative leadership at BP is so terrible-the King needs to go out and ask that social media and legacy media be kind to his family-avoid the nicknames unsubstantiated rumors, trolling agencies, friends, and companies they are associated with.

He can say that his own situation has made him grateful for every day and promote kindness and encourage putting phones and screens down in favor of helping a neighbor or an organization. So many trolls online could be helping their boomer neighbors with their tech-everything medical is done online now, its a nightmare for my neighbor with impaired vision and hearing..

He could give a brief update on Kate with a timeline and he could say warm words about Harry and Meghan and say he hopes to see them soon.

Charles could shut a lot of shit down if he wanted to-or was encouraged to. At this point graciousness and ending family drama would help his reign and his legacy.

      • sparrow says:

chiclit. Agree. I’ve always said the elderly is a good alignment for her. The cause really needs help – isolation and loneliness, care agencies. She did well at the care home visit last year. And these are the BRF fan base. She hasn’t got the character young kids are drawn to, particularly teens (which is why she pitched it “early years”). However, as with everything Kate does, it’s down to image: she wouldn’t want to be seen as princess of the older people.

  42. Monlette says:

I really hope this isn’t true. If she is so sick that she has to cancel all her appearances, she really should focus on getting better. Not attending meetings or making charts or writing reports or being MVP behind the scenes or whatever they have her doing. Even in the workaholic USA, an employer won’t make someone do a darn thing while on disability leave.

    • Wagiman says:

Don’t fret, she’s definitely not doing anything. She did nothing when she was supposedly working, if you can call it that. She’s had absolutely nothing to do with this project, if there really is one. She simply poses for photo ops in a suit. Let’s not worry she’s actually working now.

    • sparrow says:

Monlette I believe she is seriously ill/has been seriously ill. But I’m not worried about this. She’ll have done nothing. She’s “seen it”. Seen doesn’t mean written or inputted. This whole thing is pretty much driven by other people, thankfully, and always has been. Like her report, she just gets “seen” doing things, not actually doing them .They’ve released it, with “seen”, to make it look like she’s working from home. I wish they wouldn’t bother. Just get better. That whole working from home was a load of bollocks.

  43. Tsar says:

“could generate more than £45.5 billion for the national economy each year.”
Well, they could certainly do with it in Britain. Brexit is a trashfire.

    • AC says:

Yep , their economy is currently laughable. Hardly any growth, a housing crisis with many of their citizens earning low wages . And now you have Britain’s princess who is literally invisible and is a “driving force” to try to generate that much to their economy per year OK.. …lolz

  44. Henny Penny says:

This is where I’ve landed. It’s the only reason I can think of as to why Carole agreed to do that first photo fiasco and remains silent and hidden. She looks furious in that photo, so I think she was forced to do it in an unsuccessful attempt to quell the burgeoning rumors.

    • sparrow says:

Just commenting on that photo alone. I was thinking about this only yesterday, as the saying goes. The frankenphoto overshadowed so much, because it was so ludicrous. And then the garden centre frolic, which was stupid and also offensive; the yucky palace spin “you’ve seen her, now shut up”. (How that was meant to fit in with the announcement video I don’t know. It was, she’s healthy at the centre, and then ill on the bench. I think they hope we’ll forget the garden store.) Anyway, in the middle of all this was the mother/daughter snap you’re talking about. I’d pretty much forgotten about it. But the thing is, out of all of the nonsense, that was the weirdest thing and actually the weirdest picture in and of itself. And there were people on here – I want to say Agnes and Elvira? – who showed a lot that was wrong with that photo. What the hell was it all about? It’s been buried somewhat by the bookending of the mother’s day and the garden centre. I don’t think she’s attempted suicide btw just commenting on that very strange photo.

The only thing behind which she is a driving force is her online shopping habit.
