Madonna’s gristly “sexy housewife” look in new Dolce & Gabbana ads

madge4

Several weeks ago, we got to see some of the first ads Madonna did for Dolce & Gabbana. Her face looked jacked (as always), but they did seem to make an effort to make Madge look softer and prettier. Anyway, now we have a new batch of ads, in which Madge is playing a “sexy housewife [with a jacked face]”. The one above is getting the most play because it seems like Madge’s boobs are trying to make a run for it. They must have gotten a look at the chicken cutlets on her face.

Known for her ever-changing image, Madonna shows off an unlikely guise in the latest Dolce & Gabbana advertising campaign – a sexy housewife. The Material Girl flaunts her curves in a series of sexy outfits in some very domestic settings in the shots for the Italian designers’ Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

Looking years younger than her 51 years, Madonna strikes sultry poses as she performs housewife duties such as hanging up the laundry or sweeping the kitchen.

The striking shots mark Madonna’s first outing as the new face of Dolce & Gabbana.
Madonna struck up a friendship with Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana while she was filming Dick Tracy in the early Nineties and they were invited to designer her costumes for The Girlie Show tour in 1993.

The Italian designer duo announced their new collaboration with Madonna two months ago, which came after she spent her birthday with the pair on-board this yacht in Italy last August. They said: ‘To have Madonna in our campaign is a dream come true.’

The new campaign was taken by celebrated photographer Steven Klein in New York City on November 6 and is inspired by Italian neo-realism cinema.

The new collection sees the designers go back to their Italian roots and re-inventing their classic corset so Madonna – as an Italian-American – was a fitting spokesmodel.

In one shot, a pensive Madonna sits on her bed in a plunging black lace corset as she strokes her cat. Another image shows the singer inhaling the smell of fresh clothes as she hangs her laundry in a courtyard.

Despite being a mother-of-four, it’s unlikely Madonna regularly performs housewife duties in real-life due to her army of staff.

Madonna’s housewife character in the ads appears to balance her glamourous looks with her domestic duties and is seen applying lipliner while spending time with her ‘daughter’.

In another image it appears Madonna the housewife is experiencing heartache as she sits crying on the bed while packing a suitcase.

The ad campaign has already been endorsed by the mother of Gabbana. Writing on his Twitter micro-blogging page last month, he said: ‘Dinner with my family!!! My mother love the ad campaign with Madonna.’

[From The Daily Mail]

There are several disturbing photos in here, the one where a faceless child is apparently staring at the chicken cutlets (or the Gristle, we don’t know) while Madge gives something a wonk-eyed stare. Another favorite of mine is the one where Madge is “acting” by crying for the camera. I don’t get it. Why is she sad? Do her cheekbones hurt? But I don’t even buy her “acting” job. It just looks like they sprinkled some water on Madge’s dead face. Too harsh? Look at her! Madonna was not an unattractive woman – but what she’s done to herself is just sad.

the broom picture–is she landing or taking off?

  2. Jessica says:

She looks like Courtney Love in the pic where she is blowing the camera a kiss… LOL

  3. Samantha says:

She looks like a whole new woman in these photos. Thank goodness for photoshop.

  4. Stephie says:

She looks like Courtney Love in the kissy one. Why do they bother trying to ‘soften’ her? You’d think that she’d have a clause in her contract preventing anyone from changing her hard sculpted look. It’s not like anyone would believe she would do anything ‘domestic’ anyway.

  5. Susette says:

    @tiki – LOL!

  6. thepickle says:

I don’t think her face looks bad. many worse faces out there (Heidi). Art direction though? Looks like they could have used some help from Bruno.

  7. Sumodo says:

She looks so Marlene Dietrich with the oversize cheek implants. Dietrich was a lot older than Madge when she looked like that, too.

  8. wif says:

The photo with the child actually upsets me. Guaranteeing that I won’t ever buy a D&G product. Great advertising, guys.

  9. snapdragon says:

oh madge – you stopped being interesting a long time ago.

  10. Annabelle says:

Daily mail says she looks younger than 51- anyone can kook younger with sunglasses covering their crows feet, hair covering mouth lines, and vasoline smeared on the camera lens

  11. Lisa says:

Ok, seriously, this woman needs to give it up already.

  12. Prensa Rosa says:

To me, she looks kinda Courtney Love-ish

  13. Sigh. says:

    Pic w/ little girl –

    Clothesline pic –
Said whore wandering in someone’s backyard the next morning (Oh, that’s what clean smells like)
    “Crying” pic –

    Blowing kiss –
Just released from jail after servicing all of the 1st watch/night shift cleaning staff (I gots my rent money!)
    Broom pic –
Freshly drunk, halluciating that she’s fending off old age (You’ll never take me alive!)
    Kitty cat pic –
A new afternoon, here we go again… (Let us pray)

  14. guest says:

    love them…so vintage.

  15. sasha says:

    lol @ sigh!

Louis Vuitton and now D&G? Doesn’t she have enough money already?

    Just another corporate f*cking shill.

  16. Solveig says:

Hate the farting position (that’s not a yoga exercise) on thumbnails 1 and 5.

  17. Maritza says:

With so many beautiful models out there why these designers hire this middle aged diva just to photoshop her? Makes no sense!

  18. kermit says:

Madonna is very jocky looking and has been for awhile. She’s beyond fit, she’s muscular. She does not pull of any bygone era feel whatsoever. She’s not particularly curvy and is in no way soft. I’ve always found her to be exhibitionist/shock driven and her act wore thin well over a decade ago.

  19. bo says:

I read the newest W (I think) and I had to say, the Madonna ads were the most beautiful thing in the magazine. And I’ve never even liked her, so that’s not flattery.

That said: WHAT THE CRAP IS UP WITH THE CLEAVAGE IN THE BLOWN UP PHOTO? I refuse to believe that’s one that was released to the public. That has to have been messed with when it was put online, right??

  20. Josie says:

Love Madonna…these pics are just perfect, so sexy.
I would love to see the Italian in her more often.

  21. Ron says:

Come on–these are so much better than the unrecognizable LV ads. And let’s face it everyone and there grandmother are photoshopped anymore. Faux outrage anyone? I am shocked to my foundation. Yawn.

  22. CandyKay says:

I can’t see any products in most of these ads.

  23. adam says:

i don’t like madonna.. but she looks great for 51..and her boobs looks good too…i’d do her.

  24. ien says:

maybe it’s just me, but i don’t think she looks that bad…at all really
i actually like the one with the little girl watching her, the subtext being that the little girl who watched the glamourous big girl/grown up woman get herself ready will grow up to be a glamourous woman herself.

only ones i don’t like are the header (her cleavage looks drawn in) and the kissy one where she looks like courtney love. gross.

  25. QB says:

The ad’s are not bad but them again I don’t believe for a minute that madonna looks like this

  26. dina says:

she looks great…i saw some behind-the-scenes pics and she looks the same…stop being too harch…i’m sure she had some plastic surjery but at least she still looks the same..i mean take a good look

  27. dina says:

she looks great…i saw some behind-the-scenes pics and she looks the same…stop being too harch…i’m sure she had some plastic surjery but at least she still looks the same..i mean take a good look at heidi or Janice Dickinson BEFORE AND AFTER but madonna haven’t changed: same eyes same nose mouth boobs etc..

  28. Really? says:

D&G who?? These print ads are all about Madge, pimping her middle-aged gristle and huge cheek implants.

    LMAO @ tiki. : D

  29. Raven says:

She looks Italian to me in these photos, which makes sense because her last name is Ciccone. Her family is of Italian descent. I also don’t see any gristle. It has been photoshopped out and her arms don’t look bad–only slightly too muscular at the top.

  30. Leek says:

She’s so dorky. Always has been…

  31. ViktoryGin says:

    @ Sigh….CTFU!

Way to Go, D&G. The irresponsible, disaffected housewive/single mom sexpot is rather tired.

  32. Sally says:

Ugh, the one with the little girl disturbs me.

  33. Dhavy says:

I like the pics and I like her

She’s always had big boobs so I don’t know why people are talking about it now

People hate her but let’s face it, she’s good at what she does otherwise she wouldn’t have all those millions she’s made throughout all these years. At least she’s not out there pouting in a stupid pose trying hard like JLO

  34. Bete says:

How original. Black and white photography for the aged.

  35. sickofit says:

na those pics go for the clothing line, but D&Gs clothes in those pics are like 15 years ago when it comes to fashion, those dresses made them huge in the 90 s
but like madonna thats just over…

  36. MLC says:

It’s like some of you get hard-ons trashing her. She looks great and there is nothing disturbing about a child watching her mother putting on makeup. If there is, then you must get your head examined.

As for people saying she looks like Courtney Love… Courtney Love doesn’t even look like Courtney Love and she wishes she looked half as good. Now that’s someone who was destroyed her face with too much surgery.

The picture where Madonna is puckering up looks like the pictures and footage taken of her in 1991 during the Justify My Love video & era.

  37. wif says:

“there is nothing disturbing about a child watching her mother putting on makeup. If there is, then you must get your head examined.”

I don’t find it disturbing but upsetting. It’s like there is this huge emotional divide between mother and child. Whenever I watched my mother put makeup on, and whenever my daughter watches me, the child in question is right at the mirror watching and asking questions, learning, connecting. Here the mother looks like she’s so self-absorbed that she doesn’t even know the child is in the room.

  38. Kathie says:

Wow! Read too much into stuff much? Madonna looks good for 51 in the way women who relentlessly seek to look younger look good. Susan Sarandon looks good for her age in the way that women who allow their faces to soften naturally look good…some people like one, some the other..really that’s all it is, why the continual haggling about which is better?

  39. NicoleB says:

When will these celebrities understand that it is ok to age gracefully and still look great!!!! nothing wrong with a little botox but when you do so much to yourself you just look desperate…which has been Madge for a very long time now….look at Vanessa Williams…she gets a little botox but nothing crazy and she looks great! Hell look at Christie Brinkly…she’s older than Madge and she looks amazing hell even Goldie Hawn…point is there is a fine line between taking care of yourself and just plain going overboard and while it’s true some people just age better…I think if Madonna had just let nature take it’s course she would’ve looked so much better…I hope is taking a good look in the mirror.

  40. Shannon says:

Wow, I hope my boobs look that good when I’m her age. They don’t look fake or surgically enhanced, just awesome.

  41. NicoleAM says:

I think these ads (unlike the LV ads) look pretty damn good. Don’t misunderstand me, I think they look good ’cause they’ve been airbrushed to hell…but the result, while not at all accurate, is good.

  42. Seer says:

Everyone in her life tells her how beautiful, talented, sexy, and fabulous she is. She doesn’t have someone there to tell her that she looks trashy rather than sexy or obnoxious and crass rather than flirty, haughty rather than classy, etc. She’s at the mercy of these flatterers who don’t tell her the truth! It’s kind of sad, because stars like her don’t get an objective view of themselves.
These mega stars are buying the hype around them, because no one is there to tell them the truth of how they’re truly coming across to the public. Then there are these crazy or stupid or lonely people who make this HUGE deal about them whenever they see them, so they think that’s how EVERYONE sees them. Then interviewers act in awe of them. It’s the media and these crazy people who call themselves fans.
People are more objective about them, and while they may enjoy their work, they don’t worship them. Even John Lennon said he was more popular than Christ himself? Why? Because they buy the hype! It’s as if they have blinders on. Suddenly, they think of themselves as not just talented musicians, they’re popular as Christ!

  43. Shaz says:

the ads are a bit boring

  44. crazydaisy says:

Well i think she looks pretty & perfect. Albeit fake 30-ish perfect at 51. If i had to get plastic surgery, i’d want to see her doc.

  45. Lucia says:

I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.
