Surprise: Tiger didn’t take sex rehab seriously

2009 Australian Masters - Day 1

The National Enquirer is running a new cover story this week that claims “Tiger Cheated in Rehab!” Judging from the excerpt available on their website, the “cheating” involves shirking his responsibilities in the program, not cheating with another woman/man/convenient object. (I could go on, but I’ll spare you.) We don’t have access to the tabloids yet because the east coast snowstorm has delayed distribution, but if the print article states that Tiger actually cheated with another person, I’ll update this story. As it is, I’m pretty sure this is just a misleading headline about the way that Tiger used rehab to revamp his image without taking it seriously. That’s disappointing, but not surprising given his past behavior and massive sense of entitlement.

“I am NOT a sex addict!”

A hostile Tiger Woods exploded with pent-up rage during sex addiction therapy after weeks of treating the entire program as a big joke, a close source told The Enquirer. He denied he has a problem, says the source, ridiculed fellow patients and refused to cooperate with therapists.

The disgraced golfer treated group therapy with such contempt that he caused one female patient to break down in tears, the source says.

“What a cheat!” blasted the source. “Tiger’s so-called rehabilitation is a joke. He went into rehab as a sex addict, and he’s coming out as one. He has been in complete denial the whole time.

“Tiger isn’t about to change his stripes. As soon as his wife Elin takes her eyes off him, he will be hopping into bed with the first bimbo that catches his eye.”

Tiger’s much-publicized sex therapy was just “a pathetic attempt” to repair his badly tattered image and to save his $105 million-a-year endorsement empire, charges the source.

[From The National Enquirer]

The National Enquirer broke the Tiger Woods cheating scandal and I would bet they have good sources for this story. It sounds just about right, too.

I saw Tiger’s madame, Michelle Braun, and her caked-on makeup on The Insider this week, and she agreed with Tiger that he wasn’t a sex addict. Braun said that it was just something that Tiger did when he was out with his boys. She also repeated her previous claims that he would spend $60k a weekend on women and that he had a preference for 20-25 year-olds that didn’t look too surgically enhanced. It wasn’t anything new from Braun, and you would expect her to defend her former clients. She has to serve 6 months house arrest soon after copping a plea on federal charges of transporting prostitutes across state lines.

So should I feel sorry for Elin that she’s taking Tiger back or is this more of a business arrangement for her? Did she work out some sort of deal with Tiger’s people to make it look like they were still together so she could make bank? I like to think that she didn’t buy into his song and dance and saw his sorry act for the cheap plea it was. Tiger is only sorry he got caught and that his “privacy” was compromised. He doesn’t give a crap about his wife or the women he used for sex and validation. Apart from some blurry pictures, we haven’t seen the guy in public in two and a half months. I’m looking forward to watching how he handles his “comeback” once he returns to golf.

    bla bla…
    I say bullshit.
he may not take it seriously, but i’m sure ( if it’s the case) that he would be intelligent enough to hide it.
NAAA… He would loose to much

  2. LolaBella says:

The bigger story here is that someone betrayed the confidentiality of this program.

Say what you will about Tiger as a cheater, but signing up for treatment as a part of these programs (AA, 12 Steps, OEA etc.), comes an expectation of privacy as a participant. If the Enquirer’s ‘source’ is credible and is to be believed then this is really a gross breach of ethics, IMHO.

  3. guesty says:

this is a shocking revelation! lol.

  4. JulieNewmar says:

He bores me now. Nothing he does or doesn’t do even remotely raises an eyebrow with me anymore. He is simply filed in the PIG catagory and the file is closed.

  5. mel says:

I dont buy the Enquirer’s story but only time will tell.

  6. isabelle says:

    Creep.

  7. Maritza says:

Time will tell, I’m sure he will repeat his behavior soon enough. Elin is better off getting a divorce than going through the humiliation all over again.

  8. Kevin says:

I agree with you Julie. If he’s not swinging his driver, I don’t give a damn what he’s doing with his putter.

  9. Really? says:

Nice yellow tooth. Get your toof fixed Eldrick so they all match, that front one is the odd man out. LMAO!

  10. Vanessa says:

well…Elin still hasnt put on her wedding ring. Maybe she is just gonna stick it out a bit longer for more money. ?

    He grosses me out.

  11. Snarf says:

These programs are supposed to be confidential. Cheque-book journalism (paying for stories whether they’re true or not) practices like the Enquirer’s will ultimatley destroy them.

  12. bella says:

I’d like to believe he’s taking the potential loss of his wife and children seriously, but experience has taught me “once a cheater, always a cheater.”

Unfortunately, I believe he’s taking the potential (as well as actual) loss of sponsorships, endorsements, and income much more seriously than the loss of his family. That speaks volumes about his character, or lack thereof.

  13. ogechi says:

    So what?

  14. princess pea says:

I’m with you, LolaBella. How can anyone be expected to submit themselves to treatment, to open up and explore their nasty traits, when the confidentiality is a joke? There’s been a lot of leaking from various celeb-rehab stints.

That said, I have my doubts that he’s a sex addict anyway. It’s an awfully convenient pity-him excuse, but from what I know of serious addiction I don’t think he would have been as successful in golf if he was really an addict. Hmmm… lack of impulse control vs. extreme discipline.

  15. Lukie says:

@princess pea: there is a such thing as a functioning addict you. Maybe that is what he is?

I don’t know for sure what constitutes a sex addict, but he clearly lacks respect, integrity or impulse control and those are things you do see in addiction…and evidently, most of Hollywood.

And if he isn’t an addict? Then he is a bigger, more disgusting ***hole than I ever gave him credit for.

The only thing I ever found acceptable about him was his charity work, especially with children. Outside of that? Never liked him. He gave me ***hole slime ball vibes from day one.

  16. Lukie says:

@princess pea: oops! Scratch the you please! LoL!

  17. Fire says:

Who cares any more? I’m over him and any stories about him. He’s gonna do what he’s gonna do and Elin may or may not stay. It’s her decision and she’ll have to live with it, whatever she decides. Hopefully she will put the kids first and not stay in it just for more money. She’ll definitely have enough to live on if she cruises. I really don’t see him changing his ways.

  18. princess pea says:

Lukie, I would be more inclined to believe in “functioning addiction” in a case like Duchovny’s or heck, even John Edwards’. It’s what’s required to be functional that makes the difference for me. Pro sports are intense, they take a lot of focus and determination. I can see how an actor can pull it together for a few takes, but for the PGA tour? I freely admit that I could be wrong; I’m no doctor.

I think it’s interesting that Tiger hasn’t made any statements since the very first one. In fact, he hasn’t ever said he is a sex addict. Nor have his reps, I believe, it’s all come from tabloids. I wonder if he’ll try to ignore the whole mess when he re-enters the public sphere. I’m really looking forward to him trying to talk his way back into a respectable position.

    * agreed on the slimeball vibes all along, too *

  19. cara says:

his wife is stunned to take tiger back…I would screw him for as much money as I could and then be gone.
Have you noticed how ugly his mistress’s are compared to his wife? I don’t get that

  20. Simplicity says:

He won’t ever be free from publicity. On the greens he’ll be heckled, standard on the course for players.

As for rehab, doubt he was ever in group therapy, lack of privacy, HIPPA laws, etc. Sex rehab with men and women in the same group, lmao, not.

  21. Kate says:

The guy is not a sex addict. Sex addicts are consumed with it 24/7 and don’t care who or what they are having sex with. I deposed an honest to goodness sex addict once. Being a serial cheater and being a sex addict are not even in the same realm.

I’m tired of “sex addict” being the convenient excuse for someone who is an arrogant, self-obsessed jerk who has sex with random women because he can.

  22. Cinderella says:

Money has to be the driving force in this “reconciliation” if that’s what it is.

As Vanessa said, Elin is not wearing her wedding ring, so there is still hope she will eventually leave him.

This whole rehab stint won’t change a thing.

  23. Ally says:

The HuffPo article has this hilarious detail:

“While the item may sound improbable, the Enquirer was the first source to break Tiger Woods’ affair scandal, reporting that Rachel Uchitel (PHOTOS) slept with the golf superstar. It was later alleged that Uchitel received at least $1 million from Woods’ camp to secure her silence.

“If rumors are true, she has a lot to keep silent, including emails from Woods declaring his feelings for her and fantasizing about a wild sex romp involving his alleged mistress, Derek Jeter and Bones star David Boreanaz.”

  24. StuntMom says:

No one has even spoken to him, can confirm where and if he even did a stint in rehab. This whole story is such BS, total speculation offered by the always mysterious “source”. In this case, the Enquirer. Nuff said.

  25. sherri says:

Not only did he not use a rubber, he never washed his 2-wood afterwards..
The former man, stinks like a 3-day dead crackwhore. His attorney wears a painters mask when talking with him.
Notice that none of his female fu*k buddies look too clean?
However, his male butt-buddies are spic n” span..

  26. Kevin says:

2 wood? Uhm no. Select from the following 1 wood, 3 wood, 5 wood. Most common. Perhaps you meant 2 iron!

  27. Ana says:

I don’t understand why these men aren’t getting confidentially agreements before doing the dirty?!?!?! Surely they have their lawyer on speed dial…
