I didn’t even realize this, but apparently Prince William and Kate’s kids are having another school break this week? It’s kind of late in the school year to have a break? The kids get out of school in late June or early July, don’t they? The only reason we’re hearing about the break is because William and Kate took a moment during their family holiday to release a statement about the awful incident in Liverpool on Monday. Thousands of people were on the street for a parade celebrating Liverpool FC when a man drove into the crowd. More than 60 people were injured in the incident and that man has been arrested.
Kate Middleton and Prince William interrupted their break with their children to say how they are “deeply saddened” after a car plowed into revelers in Liverpool, injuring dozens as they celebrated a soccer team’s triumph on May 26.
The couple said in a statement on May 27, “What should have been a joyful celebration ended with tragedy. Our thoughts are with those who were injured and to the first responders and emergency services on the ground.”
Minutes earlier, King Charles, 76, expressed his shock and sadness. In a statement released during his two-day visit to Canada with Queen Camilla, the King said, “It is truly devastating to see that what should have been a joyous celebration for so many could end in such distressing circumstances. At this heartbreaking time for the people of Liverpool, I know that the strength of community spirit for which your city is renowned will be a comfort and support to those in need,” he continued.
The tragedy unfolded as hundreds of thousands of people gathered on the streets to mark Liverpool FC’s championship-winning team. Moments after the team’s bus had passed, a car drove into the crowd. Four people are “very ill” in the hospital, the area’s mayor, Steve Rotherham said, the BBC reported. A 53-year-old man from West Derby has been arrested. He has been held on suspicion of attempted murder and driving under the influence of drugs, the update from Merseyside police added.
Around 50 people were treated in the hospital and 11 remain, police said on Tuesday, May 27, for ongoing treatment. They are in a “stable condition,” the latest press release from Merseyside Police said. Police said the car followed an ambulance through a road block that was briefly opened in order to allow emergency workers to attend to a man who’d suffered a suspected heart attack.
I wonder if this will end up being a situation like Southport last year, where the prime minister basically ordered King Charles to show up in person within a week, and William and Kate sauntered into town months later for their photo-op. Like…the Liverpool community is devastated AND the police are making a point of saying the driver is white – because they’re trying to head off another white nationalist crime-spree against communities of color. It’s a delicate situation. Which is probably why William and Kate are being told to just stay on vacation, I guess.
We are deeply saddened by the scenes in Liverpool yesterday. What should have been a joyful celebration ended with tragedy.

It is half term – all schools have this week off after our bank holiday on Monday. So of course the Wails don’t have to do the school run, but do have to be there for their kids because they are such good parents. Most parents don’t have that luxury and have to organise child care!
Kate & William have organized paid childcare 365 days a year! I doubt either of them even regularly do the “school run”.

Listen, Anne does a very good deal more than the others but her visits are usually 30m and yet she is known for her “hard work.” Which yeah in comparison. Sorry, I’m just not an Anne stan. But she does show up a lot in a way the Wales don’t.
That’s what I think is funny. When you actually look at Anne’s work, its a lot of 30 minute visits, or a lot of working while others are on vacation, or doing three work events while at Balmoral so she looks like she works consistently. And of course she gets a lot of credit for breaking 500 engagements a year for several years in a row now.
but compare Anne to a normal employee who works 40 hour weeks with a month vacation each year or whatever, and her workload pales in comparison.
Even for Anne, the “hardest working” royal, her actual work is fairly laughable. She’s the queen of bread and butter events and it pays off for her.
But what I find laughable is that we think she’s a hard worker for a ROYAL and by most normal standards she’s working maybe a third of the year when you average it all out.

Anne was already in Liverpool for the 185th anniversary of Cunard. Their ship Queen Anne was docked there. She had the hospital visit scheduled around other events.
Agree Anne has never worked in the 40-hour-week sense the rest of us work. But she does spend a little more than 30 mins. She has to shed her jodpurs and wellies and get into something in her closet from 20 years ago. Maybe a little powder and lipstick. And then she needs to travel to wherever it is. So, let’s say 2 hours a pop, on average? Also she’s even older than Charles, and most of us would have retired by that age. Maybe I’m just impressed by the contrast with Bulliam and Lazy though.

We are 5 months into the year and they are on their 5th or 6th vacation??!! For doing 1-3, 30-45 min. show-ups, with weeks between each visit, (and not forgetting an anniversary “holiday” in the middle of that??!).

Remember that they often prepare several “unannounced visits” in one day, 15 minutes each, somewhere close to the palace, and then let them out when they are on another secret vacation, to hide these trips. In this way they also pretend that they spend their vacations together, but they are separate. Kate is always with all the Middletons and the taxpayer pays for it, and William is there for a day or two and goes somewhere, who knows where;)) Then after the “joint” vacations Kate is tanned and William is not, or vice versa:))))

If you look at the school schedule online there are one or two longer breaks in each term and then the long break between terms. Summer is their longest break bc they get off early July and dont go back until early september. I know people say its normal in the UK but I do wonder how working parents manage it.

Weren’t the bloody school runs last year’s thing, during Kate’s treatment, and being used as a supposedly tangible excuse for Bulliam doing eff all last year? The narrative is still all about how they can’t work because “tiny children,” but the breaks make more sense if they’re boarding.
Anything is possible with these people. But then why publicly fight over whether the kids go to a boarding school or not? If the kids are already boarding then why would Kate care if they board some more, except that it of course would be known publicly what school they go to. School summer holidays in the UK are usually 8 weeks for private fee-paying schools and 6 weeks for all the others. The summer term usually ends mid to late July and the autumn term starts early September.
It’s never occurred to me that they are already boarding, but it does make sense that they do, if for nothing else normalcy while Kate sought treatment and also because William was never at home.

Yes, the police and some papers are making a point of stating that the driver was a white man. However, in the very next breath those papers are scrambling to blame “drugs” and a few commentators have speculated about mental health – grace or shall we say, excuses, they would NEVER make for a non-white attacker. They are desperate to maintain the illusion that white people cannot be terrorists, it’s galling.
That was my thought as well–always looking for ‘mental health’ issues when it’s a white guy, even though–here in the States, at least–it’s more often than not the white guy who’s the perp.
I’ve seen many videos of this incident and it looks more like a “road rage” incident to me. People were attacking the car and the driver before he sped off and ploughed into the crowds. It remains to be seen what the motivation of the 53 year-old driver was. Neighbours have said he is a businessman and father of three, and what happened is totally out of character. The son of a friend of mine was in the crowd when it happened but fortunately he was not injured.

There’s also the Heysel Stadium disaster associated with the club and the Champions League final in France some years ago in which Liverpool played could have ended terribly when Liverpool supporters were treated terribly by French authorities. Our Home Secretary from that time barely apologized a couple of months ago for having lied at the time to say that the Liverpool supporters were at fault because they had come with fake tickets, which was a lie.

Their children’s private school has a total of FIVE months of school holidays every year. So WAnd K are only “available” 7 months of the year to “work”. Anne does 8 events per day whereas Will does at most 9 events spread over 3 days each week. Hence year end she’s done 450 engagements to his 166. Will really doesn’t sweat the small stuff, does he?!

Liverpool football fans and many of the population hate the Monarchy . Mainly because The Sun newspaper trashed Liverpool fans when there was a crowd disaster and many died in Hillsborough.The paper was not bought in Liverpool and still is a no go area there. The Royals love the Sun. William was booed off the pitch when he went to a Liverpool game. He will not be welcome there unless they hire a crowd and PR.
