In retrospect, it’s really funny how Amal Clooney completely avoided being photographed with her husband in the months where he had a terrible dye job. George Clooney dyed his hair black to play Edward R. Murrow in the stage adaptation of Good Night and Good Luck, and he spent months wandering around New York looking like Lurch. Amal avoided his Lurch Era, but she’s come back now that the show is over and his hair is almost back to its normal grey. These are photos of the Clooneys last night at the Tony Awards. He told People Mag that Amal was “the happiest person” when he went back to grey. All of the dyed hair isn’t gone though, and now he really looks like he’s wearing a bad rug.
The Clooneys attended the Tony Awards because George was nominated for Best Actor and GNAGL was nominated in the Best Play category. Somewhat hilariously, the Tonys completely shut out GNAGL. Good. George has lost the plot, and during his turn on Broadway, he was an active participant in Jake Tapper’s anti-Biden bullsh-t. CNN was shilling hard for Clooney as well, airing GNAGL and pretending like it was some bold decision to do so. George deserves a lot worse than being shut out of the Tonys, but I’ll take this.
As for Amal, her dress is Tamara Ralph. Amal showcased the dress terribly, slouching over, shoulders slumped, twisting herself in knots to not tower over George. The dress itself is okayish, I guess – the pearl detailing is lovely, but the look is very bridal. I feel like the length of the dress was a weird choice too.

Meh. Ostensibly, they look glamourous? And yet they’ve lost their glamour. And we know why.
Since gngl, every time I look at george, I see vintage black and white frankenstein. Who see it too?
Amal’s slouching is so bad.
AND I thought Mumbles posture was bad – Amal’s is much worst.
Amal has always been such an enigma to me. I can see how someone who spends all day at a computer would develop a bad slouch, but I don’t understand how someone who works a serious job can maintain a Hollywood style slender figure. Sure, in the age of Ozempic, but not twenty years ago when she went from normal slender to Hollywood skinny while working a very successful career.
She’s very aware of the slouch and sometimes she pulls her shoulders back and pins her shoulder blades together in a most unnatural way. Baria probably coached her on that one.
As for the hair, for the LOVE of god, take out the extensions, wiglets etc and your hair. There is an imaginary line where hair is just too long, she passed it. She’s hides behind her hair. She has never done an updo, ever. With the tiny head and thin frame, the big hair just overwhelms her and it just looks really bad. The long stringy highlights look very Real Housewives of Dubai. Her hairdresser travels with her to Africa and fixes her hair before presenting. And he also does the hair for the Kardashians. It’s not an elegant look. Just cheap.
Being in that rarefied air – there aren’t any people who say no. Just yes people. Someone should pull her aside and just tell her – it looks bad. Too long, too stringy, too fake …
The white shoes with the white dress! Reminds me of nurse uniform from back in the day
ER vibes.
Maybe he likes to play doctors and nurses with her.
I don’t mind the shoes from the front. The points echo the points on her bodice. But from the side they look so big and white, like Minnie Mouse shoes. I think a more delicate shoe would have directed more attention to the dress.
The heels are very spindly on those things, aren’t they? Just doesn’t look comfortable or stable to me.
Amal looks so much better here but the shoulder slouching isn’t doing her any favours. Just wear flats if she doesn’t want to tower over her husband. It’s giving Nicole Kidman-Tom Cruise vibes.
George isn’t ageing well. She looks like his carer in this photo.
I think she must be having a hard time holding up her head due to the 15 lbs of fake hair she appears to be wearing.
If she doesn’t want to tower over George then she can wear lower heels and stand up straight. Problem solved.
After so many years of being a movie star’s wife, she should know how to pose for photos. As for her return to the red carpet: are we to understand that the danger has passed and she can now stay in the states without any worries?
I heard the opposite. She’s been put on some kind of watch list
Can confirm. They both need to be deported just for playing such a huge part in what we’re dealing with now politically. Russia would be my choice.
God, her posture.
I came here to say the same. Girl, shoulders back chin up. My back hurts looking at her.
I also came here to say this…
I broke my CNN boycott Saturday night because I really wanted to see GNAGL. I thought it was just okay but might translate better if you see it in the theater. Also Murrow taking on McCarthy is not enough of a story to make a whole ass play about it. There was a lot of padding to stretch it to 90 minutes.
The 2005 movie is much better IMO.
I agree the movie Good Night and Good Luck was 100 times better than the broadway version aired on CNN. I turned it off about 30 minutes in. I will give credit to CNN (it hurts to do this) for doing something different.
I’m just glad I didn’t pay Broadway prices for it. Go see The Picture of Dorian Gray if you want to be blown away.
I like the dress a lot and have long thought that Amal is gorgeous. But her slouching is awful. How I wish she would extend into her full height and confidently display her elegance instead of making herself smaller.
I watched the live telecast and really enjoyed it, it was very well done and GC (as well as the entire cast) gave a great performance. It’s especially timely given what just happened to Terry Moran at ABC News.
On a superficial note it’s nice to see the grey back in his hair, suits him much better. I read an interview where he stated he hated the dye job and thought it looked horrible, so I’m sure he’s glad that it’s (almost) back to normal.
I enjoyed it too.👍👍
The last frame was powerful.
I think George might score an Emmy nod and win.
I doubt that Clooney’s dyed hair was the reason Amal went into hiding for a while, rather it was his political disasters with Biden and the criticism he faced. I don’t believe in their great love, although they were certainly infatuated with each other at first and mutually attractive, but image and careers always came first. They are like two corporations that signed a cooperation agreement. Amal gained recognition, red carpets and paparazzi running after her, and Clooney, after all those half-naked waitresses, gained an intelligent, representative woman who would be the perfect first lady if he didn’t stop dreaming of being the second Reagan 🤣
I’ve never believed in their great love. Clooney saw the writing on the wall and didn’t want to be the laughing stock Leo later became. He searched for a long time for a woman who fit his image, someone beautiful and glamorous but also someone who increased Clooney’s cred as a wannabe global statesman. Amal was fit the bill perfectly.
I don’t really get why she wanted a movie star retiring his playboy reputation, but I guess it was probably also an ego thing of who she could land.
I’ve always believed they met through a high end matchmaker when George decided it was time to marry.
I wonder if the dress was sliding down, that is why she is standing like that. 😭😭
No, I think this is what the tabloids and Tatler call the “Sloane slouch”, where a lot of “posh” British women stand like hunched-backed ogres on purpose instead of standing up straight. Sort like how so many UK women of means wear hideous clothes, sloppily put together yet are praised to the high heavens for being “fashionable”. Even Kate Middleton apes this style of standing and hunching, which makes her already poor posture look downright comical at times, just like Amal’s here.
Wow, I didn’t know bad posture was a sign of aristocracy too 😂😭😭 These people are literally putting a bow on everything instead of correcting it.
A search for Sloane Slouch brought up a lot of things but not that. I’d believe anything about the Brit aristos at this point, though. Personally, I think she slouches to make herself small for George’s ego.
@mightymolly, yeah I didn’t find much on google either. I asked chatgpt, it is a thing apparently.
“The term “Sloane Slouch” in the UK refers to a particular kind of posture often associated with the “Sloane Ranger” stereotype—a term coined in the 1980s to describe young, upper-class (or upper-middle-class) people, especially women, from West London, notably around Sloane Square in Chelsea. It describes a slightly hunched, relaxed, and casual posture, often seen as affected or deliberately careless.”
George should now go climb back under his rock.
Nah…the dress is not falling down. There’s NUMEROUS examples/photos of her slouching like this. I think it’s a combination of poor posture and her feeling the need to not tower over her husband. A lot of taller women slouch for some reason.
I’m so glad he was shut out. Good. His Jake Tapper/Biden propaganda was sickening. All because Biden either didn’t recognize him immediately or just flat didn’t know who he was. Either one is a testament to GC’s enormous ego. Don’t flatter yourself, sir.
My late mother ADORED GC. Thought he was a very handsome man. And I won’t insult my deceased mother and disagree; he is easy on the eyes. However, I know she have a very different opinion of him now. A man can be extremely handsome on the outside and absolute garbage on the inside.
It’s interesting. My mother thought it was strange that such a handsome man should be so unsexy.
I’m so happy Cole Escola won! Oh, Mary is a delight, and Cole was incredible in it. Also, I loved their look last night!
Amal is so gorgeous but she ruins it with her lack of posture.
Why didn’t David Sheritan come back to play Morrow?
He got a Oscar norm for it, and very well would have been a lock to win at the Tony’s.
Interesting…..
Strathairn is also a seasoned Broadway actor. That said, he also works in film & television, which could be the reason he was unavailable for the B’way run of GN&GL.
Those awful shoes gave me a flashback to those awful white gloves that were Amal’s first viral fashion fail.
Girl needs to stay away from stark white accessories, they do *not* work for her.
George needs to go home and stay home for a good long while. He has utterly lost the public’s goodwill, and rightfully so.
Of course, Clooney didn’t win any awards. His acting is sub-par, and he’s massively overrated.
He didn’t sell his last scene for me at all. The pregnant pause seemed like he just forgot his lines. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Clooney is a nepo baby. He would be nowhere without his aunt Rosemary pulling strings to get him acting jobs back in the day.
It’s possible Amal’s bad posture is because of a structural issue, which might explain the long hair somewhat camouflaging it at times. How does she sit on the pearls?
Her long hair is a separate story. Although she has thick, long hair as a Lebanese, she wants to have even more and longer hair and wears half-wigs, thickeners, extensions… and because she has a lot of her own hair, with a small head and this extra hair she looks grotesque. You get the impression that in a moment her head will collapse under this weight. Here she has her hair carefully styled, it is not so visible, but she wears the same mound when she is dressed sporty, in short trousers and her very slim legs and slim figure emphasize the “big head” even more.
Both amal and George Clooney look awful her trying hard to capture Hollywood Glamour and failing . Old man Clooney looks like a looser I’m very happy Tony Awards snubbed him from getting an award he and his PR thought they were entitled to. Thanks to the voters who saw through a Joe Biden backstabbing Clooney and his PR thirsty antics ..plus I do not appreciate two domestic violence apologists who prompted publicly perpetrator Brad Pitt.. and used their children to wash his child abuse he did to his 6 children and Angelina Jolie
Both are overrated individuals… don’t like neither
Good lort, woman! Stand up straight. I can’t understand the lousy posture. Amal has been slouching for years.
I will say nice
Good. I’m glad he and the play were shut out of everything.
So Amal’s still allowed in and out of the country? For now, at least? But not a peep from him about that.
If you look closely at the pics, you will see that Amal is aging. I thought before l write more, let me check her age. She is 47. Anyway, unless you pay attention you will not know if she is aging or not because her husband is way older, therefore, she will always look young.
As a lawyer who sat over a computer for many years, I found by my late thirties that I could not physically stand up straight anymore. Tight hip flexors and pec muscles and lack of thoracic flexibility rounded my upper back. It took years of focussed physio and training to fix it after I semi-retired, and I couldn’t do that when I had a job and kids at home. So it’s possible she can’t straighten her upper back and that she’s slim but not strong. And of course she’s aging. Jeez. Maybe focus on her fashion choices rather than body shaming her.
I am always amazed at how well the Celebitchy readers suss out hair extensions and wigs. I don’t know why I just am not good at spotting that. I myself am tired of the too long hair choice. Don’t come for me: it’s just a personal preference. I think it draws attention away from the face and drags a face down, no matter how lovely someone is. But I spotted the posture right away. Never have noticed it before, but it is shockingly bad. I am worried about mine, and have thought of getting a back brace to make myself have better posture. I hope for her sake it is not osteoporosis.
