As we all know, vividly by now, things took a turn at Coldplay’s Boston-area concert last week with the attendance of two coworkers-turned-lovers (still married to other people) from tech company Astronomer. The cheating couple expected to see a sky full of stars, but instead they saw themselves. On the big screen of the jumbotron. In an intimate big spoon-little spoon embrace. Like I said yesterday, we likely would have been none the wiser to the cheating part of this equation, had it not been for the knee-jerk bad reactions from the couple. But they can’t go back in time and change it, so their actions now and forever belong to the memes. Still, Coldplay would rather not have this one indiscreet moment define their Music of the Spheres Tour (no matter how bad a tour name that is), nor do they want to eliminate an element of their concert altogether. They want everyone’s time to be para-para-paradise. So at their Saturday stop in Madison, Wisconsin, Chris Martin very clearly warned the audience when their cameras would be rolling for the jumbotron:
Chris Martin is not letting history repeat itself.
After he was involved in a viral moment leading to allegations that Astronomer CEO Andy Byron was having an affair with a fellow employee, the Coldplay frontman issued a warning to fans before featuring them on the jumbotron during the July 19 Music of the Spheres concert in Wisconsin.
“We’d like to say hello to some of you in the crowd and put some of you on the big screen,” Chris said onstage, as seen in videos posted to social media, at Camp Randall Stadium. “How we’re going to do that is we’re going to use our cameras and put some of you on the big screen.”
“Please, if you haven’t done your makeup,” he added with a laugh, “do your makeup now!”
Because when the 48-year-old featured an unsuspecting couple holding each other on the big screen at his July 16 show in Massachusetts, the woman immediately turned around and hid her face while the man—identified as the Astronomer CEO—dropped to the floor to hide from the cameras.
“Either they’re having an affair or they’re just really shy,” Chris joked at the time before expressing remorse over unintentionally calling them out. “Oh s–t, I hope we didn’t do something bad.”
Just three days after the executive’s alleged affair made headlines, Byron resigned from his position at Astronomer.
“Oh, s–t, I hope we didn’t do something bad.” No, Chris, no! YOU didn’t do something bad, THEY did, the couple! But it’s kind of endearing that Chris cared enough to be concerned. Also, I gotta hand it to Chris, he really handled that “warning” quite deftly. He didn’t directly mention the incident at all, which was classy. I mean, at this point he doesn’t have to! But still, it’s a bit of an art to have everyone know what you’re referring to, without even naming it. It’s a skill I admire in people who cover a certain baby-fisted, feeble-minded rotten excuse of a president, without ever sullying their mouths by uttering that menace’s name, but I digress… Anyway, I guess it’s time to amend our Concert Code of Conduct. Much like in the summer of 2023 when crazy excited attendees needed the reminder to not throw sh-t at the performers onstage, let’s make this summer’s lesson that whilst at a live performance, one should only engage in behavior they’re completely comfortable with being broadcast on the jumbotron, if not the world (via the internet). Viva la video camera!
Chris Martin’ speech before the Jumbotron session at #ColdplayMadison tonight.

To be fair, comments on every post about this say he does the same speech every time, as he did that particular night. He just added “if you need to fix your make up” bit.
People are warned they might be on the jumbotron and these two were standing and canoodling and practically begging for a kiss-cam cameo? This story just keeps on giving.
Who knew that a kiss cam at a Coldplay concert would generate this much interest?
Thanks, Kismet! I’ve been looking for more updates on this story, but it looks like those involved are hunkering down.
The next show after Boston was here in Madison. A couple girls ran into him the night before the show, and brought up the Jumbotron thing, and they said he got really serious and sad about it 😂
Chris Martin got sad? He’s kinda emo like that.
But it really is sad that two adults who undoubtedly make a killing are so selfish and careless to be flaunting their infidelity for all the world (including their children) to see, risking their families’ well-being and their careers.
The gratifying part of it is: “Rich cheaters think they can get away with it and got OWNED in a big way.”
