Miley Cyrus on bf Liam: “He doesn’t need me to make him famous”

Miley Cyrus gave a new interview to promote The Last Song, and she’s still talking about how “deep” her relationship is with boyfriend and costar Liam Hemsworth. Previously, Miley said that “I think we’re both deeper than normal people—what they think and how they feel. He’s very grateful for what he has, but he doesn’t let it go to his head. I’m like that too.” Spoken like a 17-year-old in love, right? Well, we’ve got more of it now, although I’m finding this interview so much more interesting than that stupid Teen Vogue one. Here are the excerpts pulled by OK Magazine:

Now the cat is out of the bag about Miley Cyrus‘ romance with The Last Song co-star Liam Hemsworth, the teen star can’t stop talking about their “deep connection”.

She rang into the Johnjay and Rich show on KIIS FM in Phoenix, Arizona on Thursday morning and talked about going public with her relationship [via Radar Online].

“Everyone knew we were dating,” she said. “I mean, who flies to Australia just to visit with a ‘friend’?”

Although she denies that the Aussie hunk is living with her, she described their bond as a “deep connection” that is “deeper” than most people.

So what does she love about him? He has his own career and isn’t using her for fame. “I feel like I’ve been with people before, both in the public eye and out of the public eye, that may need something from me,” Miley said.

“He’s not like that. He was already successful, he was already cast in the movie, he didn’t need me for that. He doesn’t need me to make him famous. He’s got his career and his goals and that’s awesome.”

Mentioning her Oscars flub, Miley said that she hadn’t been nervous before going on stage but co-presenter Amanda Seyfried, “got me freaked out” and she said that also just before stepping on stage Oscar producer, Adam Shankman, unnerved her by telling her, “Add personality to it!”

Miley said that she’s “super stoked” about The Last Song and that she hopes “for the first time people will take me seriously” but if they don’t she’s “ready for the ups and downs, I’m so excited, no-one can take that away from me.”

She added: “I may not be the best singer in the world, but I don’t lip synch, I’m honest. I’m honest in acting too – I’m going to chose roles I like. I’m doing what I like, people that are dogging me probably aren’t which is why they’re down on me., I want to tell them ‘go get a hobby!’”

[From OK! Magazine]

It’s not that I find Miley’s sentiments so profound in general, but I do find them profound because they’re coming out of Miley, The Girl Sold To Disney. You know what I’m saying? Her father pretty much encouraged Disney (and many other entities) to build a billion-dollar corporation around his young daughter, and Billy Ray and Disney (and many others) have been profiting from her for years. Miley probably can’t remember a time when she wasn’t the breadwinner of her family, when she had a relationship that wasn’t based on a combination of money-seeking and fame-seeking behavior, both corporate and familial. Miley says: “I feel like I’ve been with people before, both in the public eye and out of the public eye, that may need something from me. He’s not like that. He was already successful… He doesn’t need me to make him famous. He’s got his career and his goals and that’s awesome.” I think it’s kind of incredible that Miley is this cognizant of her own fame, her own family, the position she’s been put in by her Disney and the corporation that surrounds her. And she must love that she’s got someone in her life that isn’t asking for anything but her. Well done, Miley.

  2. AC says:

i don’t care what a 17 year old has to say about her relationship…

  3. Alecto says:

that was very mature. i’m impressed

  4. Maritimer says:

I know I am in the minority, and I will likely get shot down for this but I loved her dress. Yes, a little tight on her, but it was my absolute favorite from Oscars night.

  5. SammyHammy says:

    I like the dress, too.

Maybe she’s starting to grow up a little. Her comments actually sounded thoughtful and mature.

  6. Snarf says:

He was the one that incouraged her to lose the Twitter account so I think he’s a good influence on her.

  7. free says:

she honestly thinks she CAN make someone famous? wow, what a buck toothed, ignorant hillbilly!

    oh brother.

  8. rheba says:

    LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!….SO TRUE

  9. Victoria says:

    @FREE My thoughts excactly!

  10. Cat says:

Poor kid! For her sake, I hope that’s true.

  11. Brooke says:

I can’t stop rolling my eyes about how much ‘deeper’ than ‘normal people’ she feels they are. Gimme a f-cking break. Though I can see where she’s coming from – he IS deeper than anyone else she’s known before – b@lls deep. STFU, idiot.

  12. Kolby says:

Way to throw Amanda Seyfried – you know, the one who didn’t mess up when reading the teleprompter – under the bus, sweet pea.

  13. malame says:

umm… before he dated her i didn’t know who he was so yea he does need her… hasn’t she realized that when they talk about him the make sure to add he’s Miley’s BF so whatever… he does need that relashionship at least for now

  14. SammyHammy says:

“I can’t stop rolling my eyes about how much ‘deeper’ than ‘normal people’ she feels they are.”

I just chalk that up to being a teenager. If she were thirty and saying that, then I would think she’s an idiot. But at 16 or 17? I give her a pass on that.

  15. lin234 says:

I think you over analyzed her comment Kaiser. To me, it read like a dig towards her ex-boyfriend.

I watch my shows on hulu and they’ve been running this commercial about some reality show for people who want to make it big. I don’t know the title. I recognize her ex from from the pictures I’ve seen on here. I think when she’s talking about “being with people”, it’s about guys. (At that age, what isn’t.)

But I like her a little more for acknowledging she’s not the best singer in the world but at least she doesn’t lip sync.

He may not be as famous as her but I think she’s putting a lot of weight into him getting the role as her co-star without her help. Unless she wants a Jonas brother, there aren’t many boys her age who can match her in terms of fame and money.

  16. GatsbyGal says:

I never heard of him until he started dating Miley. Hey dude, mission accomplished?

  17. JaNa'e says:

i’m just waiting for her 15 minutes of fame to run out. there’s no way that she can gain fame once she reaches adulthood. the only reason she has any noteriety now is because of that godforsaken disney show and the 11 & under portion of the population.

no adult takes this child seriously.

he’ll probably last longer in the industry than she will

  18. TG says:

I loved her dress too on Oscar night. It was one of my favorite. Only wish she would stand up straight and put those shoulders back. Glad to see she is getting some action. I wish these Disney queens would stop with the whole virginity thing.

  19. brooklyn says:

that girl needs to stand up straight. her posture is actually horrifying. Her dress would have fit better at the top is she just brought those shoulders back.

but yeah i agree with AC… why do we care about miley’s boo?

  20. malina says:

I’m sorry but I think she’s so ugly 🙁 even with all the professional help she’s getting. And she’s just not likable to me. Anything she says or does is so irritating. I can’t help it.
Disney made her. Wonder if she will last?

  21. Madisyn says:

I’m with Malame and Gatsbygal. Never heard of him before her. Sorry Miley, your wrong!

  22. Rianna says:

He is fairly famous in Australia, well mostly for riding off his big brother’s coattails. He was on a nighttime soap drama here called “Home and Away” for a while.

  23. johndoe says:

Man I caught her music video where she is playing a piano and trying to look all adult…man, who does she think she is?

Is it medically possible to die of embarrassment?

  24. twinkle says:

    Hey Celebitchy
This has nothing to do with this post but its late and i’m drunk so i just wanna say this…please do not ban and or not cover Lindsay Lohan gossip!! She is so completely gossip worthy. It’s sorta sad, but you knwo what? NOT really cuz she’s been going downward for a long ass time and refuses to do anthing about it. So please keep those posts coming! The more Lindsay, the better the gossip world!
Does this make nay sense? Seriously it’s like 3:30 in the moring and i’m kinda sorta drunk.

  25. CB Rawks says:

I’m with Twinkle and I’m not drunk, just buzzing gently on caffeine. 🙂

  26. ogechi says:

    cutie

  27. Aims says:

He looks like he is faking the love…. My ex boyfriend always had this expression on his face. My new boyfriend – who is over the moon for me always smiles in all our pics and stares at me with love in his eyes… I dont see that with this guy.
