Donald Trump said he would ‘take a look’ at pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell

Donald Trump and his Attorney General Pam Bondi have been doing the most to keep Ghislaine Maxwell happy. They moved Ghislaine to a lower-security prison, and she dutifully claimed that she had never, ever seen Trump engaged in any sort of massage situation, especially not with any of the children Ghislaine and Jeffrey Epstein trafficked. Alongside whatever deal Ghislaine has made with Trump and his DOJ, her lawyers have also been pursuing a possible appeal to the Supreme Court, anything to get Ghislaine out of her prison sentence (she has like 18 years left on the sentence). Well, yesterday, SCOTUS rejected her:

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected Ghislaine Maxwell’s challenge to her criminal conviction for recruiting and grooming teenage girls for sexual abuse by Jeffrey Epstein.

The decision means that Maxwell’s conviction on three counts and her 20-year criminal sentence remain in place. The case was one in a list of dozens of appeals that piled up in recent months that the justices rejected as they started a new nine-month court term.

Maxwell lawyer David Oscar Markus argued in court papers that an agreement Epstein made with the then-U.S. attorney in the southern district of Florida, Alex Acosta, not to prosecute him or potential co-conspirators should apply to one of the three counts in her case, which was prosecuted in New York.

“We’re, of course, deeply disappointed that the Supreme Court declined to hear Ghislaine Maxwell’s case,” Markus said in a statement. “But this fight isn’t over. Serious legal and factual issues remain, and we will continue to pursue every avenue available to ensure that justice is done,” he added.

I keep forgetting that Ghislaine’s whole appeal is based on the sweetheart deal Epstein made when he was initially arrested and charged. That’s still really crazy – she’s basically confirming that she was absolutely a co-conspirator in the human trafficking and blackmail operation, and therefore her criminal acts fall under the deal Epstein made with prosecutors twenty years ago. Yikes. Anyway, after SCOTUS said “lol, no,” a reporter asked Donald Trump if he would consider pardoning Ghislaine. His response? “I would have to take a look at it.” Trump also pretends that he hasn’t heard Ghislaine’s name in a while. Like… just this summer, Trump admitted that Epstein and Maxwell “stole” teenage girls from Mar-a-Lago.

Trump on pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell: Haven't heard the name in so long. I’ll take a look at it. I’ll speak to the DOJ. A lot of people have asked me for pardons.

Reporter: But she’s convicted of sex trafficking

Trump: I’ll have to take a look at it.

If she’s “free” wouldn’t her life be in jeopardy. Epstein did not survive

This puts Thump in a bind. How are he and the GOP going to explain to all of their Unchristian MAGA followers how he can decide to pardon a convicted sex trafficker? Especially if he pardons Diddy too? Why that would mean it was all a lie and he’s really NOT chosen by Jesus after all. Thump and the rest of his bumblers will cook their own goose, hopefully sooner rather than later.

That former TX Megachurch pastor and Trump advisor was literally *just* indicted for molesting a 12 year old girl and I haven’t heard a peep from the religious Right about it. Tells you all you really need to know.

It’s always been about partisan politics with the religious reactionary Right. They only care about pedophilia and sex trafficking when it’s perpetrated by a secret Hollywood cabal, led by Bill Clinton, Tom Hanks, and George Soros. It’s all about their imagination and not reality.

The radical Right spin machine has been downplaying Maxwell’s role for months leading up to the Blanche meeting, claiming that she was also a victim of Epstein etc and it seems some MAGAs are eating it up.

I guess it would look funny if they both die in custody

I actually think he won’t pardon her. The only reason [presumably] that she isn’t talking now is that she wants a pardon. If she was pardoned, I think then she could say whatever she wants without legal consequence? Help us out, fellow Celebitchies with law degrees!

    • Kitten says:

I get your point about dangling the pardon but why would she talk at all?
What’s in it for her except years of retaliation by Trump and his supporters, expensive lawsuits, death threats from his rabid base, watching her back all the time and paying for increased security–for what? There’s literally no upside for her snitching on Trump if he essentially saves her ass.

The pardon would presumably ensure her silence.

I don’t see him pardoning Diddy for reasons that really shouldn’t have to be explained.
It’s disgusting how much he relishes the power he has–he’s so giddy in this clip. He really does want everyone to beg and grovel at his feet like the mad king he is.

I’ve said from the beginning that he was setting up Maxwell for a pardon so no surprises there. The more interesting part to me is saying he needs to talk to his DOJ…about what, exactly? The pardon power belongs to the President, the DOJ has nothing to do with it. Sounds like he needs his DOJ to orchestrate a deal with Maxwell, undoubtedly one that buys her silence.

If and when the Epstein Files are released, nobody on the Left should trust what’s in them because if the Trump administration gets their hands on them first, they’ll wipe his name from everything. Probably do the same for the GOP’s large donors as well.
