Hugh Jackman & Sutton Foster have been posing for photos together at events

Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster made their official debut as a couple in early January, but by all accounts they were together for at least a year before that. The timeline is questionable. Sutton filed for divorce from her now ex-husband in late 2024, while Hugh’s divorce from his wife of 27 years, Deborra-Lee Furness, was finalized this past June.

When they first went public, Hugh and Sutton were papped all over the place, going on dates and making out in parking lots. It was giving pandemic-era Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas. Despite their official launch, they’ve managed to lay pretty low. This week has been an exception, though. Sutton and Hugh were photographed together at events on both Oct. 20 and Oct. 21, both at The Carlyle in NYC. On Monday, they attended the Fetch Pet Gala. On Tuesday, they posed for pictures at Richard Marx’s After Hours Confessions concert, which took place in the Café Carlyle.

Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster’s had a picture-perfect date night. The couple took in a night of music in Manhattan on Tuesday, Oct. 21, attending Richard Marx’s After Hours Confessions show at New York City’s famed Café Carlyle. Posing for a photo with Marx and the singer’s wife Daisy Fuentes before the show, Jackman, 57, and Foster, 50, were all smiles. The pair, who had their arms around one another, looked dapper, too — he in a crisp blue suit and she in a long-sleeve white knit dress.

Jackman and Marx, 62, have been friends for over 20 years, and have collaborated together multiple times in the past. The Greatest Showman actor even appeared on Marx’s 2012 PBS concert A Night Out with Friends and on its corresponding live album, singing “The Letter.”

Back in June, Marx joined Jackman at the star’s Radio City Music Hall residency, Hugh Jackman: From New York with Love. The pals duetted on Marx’s 1989 hit, “Right Here Waiting.”

At the Café Carlyle on Tuesday, Jackman once again sang with Marx. The musician’s string of shows at the venue will continue through Oct. 25.

Though news of their pairing has been public, Jackman and Foster have kept their romance out of the spotlight. They have supported one another behind the scenes, however — Jackman cheering Foster on in the audience of her concerts and her run in Once Upon a Mattress, and Foster doing the same at the opening of Jackman’s Radio City residency and his recent Off-Broadway play, Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Class.

A source told PEOPLE back in August that the pair are “going strong” and have built a “good foundation.”

Looking at the pictures…I like Sutton’s black dress from the Fetch Pet Gala. The neckline looks great on her and she’s beaming. I don’t love her white sweater dress from the Richard Marx event. It’s ill-fitting (and would be on anyone), especially in the chest area. I also did not recognize Daisy Fuentes in those pictures because of her straightened hair! It looks great, though.

I think this week’s photo blitz is the exception and not the rule. Local celebrities and politicians probably attend a lot of NYC’s fundraisers and socialite-type events. I get the feeling that both actors, who were already private about their personal lives while married to their first spouses, are on the same page about not drawing too much attention to their “new” relationship. From a PR standpoint that’s pretty smart. In general, it’s never a good look to flaunt your jump-off relationship to the press. My first thought after looking at those photos is that they look happy. My second thought is that I hope Deborra-Lee is thriving wherever she is.

Hugh looks rough. I used to love Sutton and liked him ok, but all this mess makes it hard to like either of them.

    • DaveW says:

Mine was the reverse; loved Hugh, ambivalent about Sutton. And while I know my opinion doesn’t matter a bit, I am not a fan of this coupling, at all.

  2. ThetGirlThere says:

I really used to like Sutton and Hugh, but this whole time thing is dodgy.

Anyway, I hope Deborra and Ted Griffin are doing well.

  3. “They built a good foundation “? On what they seem to have cheated on their spouse’s. What kind of foundation have they built?

  4. SarahCS says:

I wonder if she enjoys hanging out with his other friends Jared and Ivanka?

  5. KNB says:

I can’t get over how alike they look. They could be brother and sister.

  6. Krista says:

They both lost me – know ing he’s BFFs with Ryan Reynolds doesn’t help.

  7. Shayni says:

Do I see an engagement ring?! She wearing one in the photo with the green dress. Non?

    • Lorelei says:

I believe that was actually her wedding ring, and that photo was taken when she was still with her former husband…which is gross. They flaunted it for a long time, not caring about their spouses.

  8. Alo says:

I know the way this coupling started gives a lot of people bad vibes, but after reading Sutton’s memoir, I really can only ever hope for good outcomes for her. She (and her brother) were absolute theatrical prodigies, neither parent had this in them, and her mother was extremely mentally ill. Lots of family trauma and a slow recovery-in-progress for. I encourage everyone to read her book!

  9. Bqm says:

I think Hugh’s marriage was over a good while beforehand. Deborra Lee preferred living 8n Australia and Hugh preferred NY. My belief has been they were waiting until the kids were out of the house but Hugh fell for Sutton, rumors got out and the timeline was pushed up. So deborra coukd very well have been surprised but they weren’t still together.
