Speaking of, all of the hand-wringing over the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s attendance at Kris Jenner’s party is leaving me cold. Meghan and Harry are friendly with the K-J clan and we’ve seen that for years. Kris’s party was full of A-listers like Oprah, Tyler Perry, Mariah Carey, Beyonce and Jay-Z, all of whom are also friendly with Harry and Meghan. The Sussexes had every reason to be invited, and every reason to attend. Their attendance did a lot to blow up the British media’s narratives about “no one in LA likes the Sussexes” and “A-listers snub the Sussexes,” narratives which were just being circulated anew LAST WEEK. Now we’re getting a return to another huffy narrative, straight from Prince William and Kensington Palace: Harry and Meghan are “tacky” for attending a party with A-listers and billionaires. William would never!
Palace insiders are appalled by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s grinning appearance at Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday bash — and say it shows just why the couple should not be accepted back in the royal fold.
“It’s so tacky,” said one palace insider who works with the royal family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex dressed up in black tie and joined a bevy of Hollywood stars at Jenner’s party, thrown by Amazon billionaire Jeff Bezos and wife Lauren Sánchez at their $165 million Beverly Hills estate Saturday night. They were joined by celebs including Beyoncé and Jay Z, Martha Stewart, Mariah Carey, Oprah Winfrey, Paris Hilton, Adele, all the Kardashians — and Jenner’s plastic surgeon, Dr Steven Levine, who is responsible for her astonishing facelift.
“It truly shows that Harry is so far removed from the rest of the family. These people may be stars in America, but the pure ostentatiousness is at odds with what Prince William is trying to do with his life and the monarchy,” the insider said.
Their appearance also shows just how entrenched the Sussexes are within Hollywood, as Bezos’s company is making Markle’s upcoming movie, “Close Personal Friends.” She will play herself in the romantic comedy and landed the cameo as she has a “connection” with the filmmakers, sources said. The movie is being made by Amazon MGM, which is owned by Bezos, and produced by Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger. Markle filmed her cameo last week, but we are told it doesn’t mean the former “Suits” star is making a real return to acting.
“That’s overstating things,” said an industry source.
Despite the couple having gone Hollywood, the insider admitted that some palace officials think Harry and Markle should be brought back to the royal family to help when Harry’s estranged brother, Prince William, eventually takes the throne.
However, the insider said, “William has made it clear that he has a plan for being king, and he has true class. I think he will look at the younger royals to help, including Prince Edward’s children.”
How dare the Sussexes attend an A-list party and successfully network and enjoy themselves among friends! That’s not the classy royal way! The classy royal way is to pay settlements to your rape victim! The classy royal way is paying celebrities like Kylie Minogue and David Beckham to fly on private jets around the world for your vanity environmental bullsh-t! What I really want to know, is what do the remaining Windsors think that their reputation is in Hollywood? Because a lot of those British celebs live in LA most of the time. Do they think constantly denigrating actors, denigrating Hollywood, saying I have class so I wouldn’t hang around with those people endears them? Then also how if Harry and Meghan are within 10 ft of anyone they start to attack them too? When the press writes articles about how unpopular H&M are, its for a very small audience – W&K and to a large extent C&C – but mostly W&K. So yeah I can believe this has caught them off guard.

They believed once that money was gone, H&M would be broke, everyone would hate them, and Harry would ditch his family and return.
When that didn’t happen, well now the insiders don’t know what to do because they keep ignoring reality. Thus the mini extinction burst anytime something H&M does goes against the “they’re broke, everyone hates them” narrative.

That recent article in the DM attacking Beatrice and Eugenie noted that they both live on Crown land and that Charles would be charging them market rent “soon”. I saw that as a threat (along with taking away their titles). Beatrice has figured out how to capitalize on the RF title without the day-to-day drama. Someone mentioned a long time ago something that people seem to forget: Kris Jenner (like Doria) has mixed-race grandchildren, and I can bet that despite their privileged upbringing, she is not unaware of the racism that they may face later in life, if they have not already encountered this. She would have been acutely aware of the names being hurled at mixed-race M and A before they left the UK.

The second part I really don’t understand. Do people honestly believe that everyone just stopped getting married, having kids, having birthday parties throughout times of strife in the United states? By that rationale we have paid for Meghan and Harry’s home because they’re wealthy, and her clothes, so we deserve to know everything about their lives and what they’re doing and what their kids looks like. That’s a question for your government. Trump gave the uber rich tax cuts. Many very rich people spoke out about having no problem paying more taxes (they did under Reagan). But under Trump the money wouldn’t be used for the people anyway. Get Noem another jet, pay Vance another holiday, build Trump a stone arch, fill their pockets. They don’t use the taxes for the American people. If I were a millionaire in the US I wouldn’t want to give these grifters my money, but rather make donations. So please let us know what percentage we paid for the party so that I can file it with my taxes this year. With that narrative, according to you, we pay for their homes, clothes, travel, vehicles and vacations, so they shouldn’t do anything fun or celebratory ever. It’s not as if anyone will avoid striving to make more money year after year, just because it will put them in a certain tax bracket or because you or I are expected to pay more in taxes than they are. Them being wealthy and having tax breaks that benefit them more than us, isn’t a reason why they should live their lives as if they aren’t wealthy. We have shutdowns all of the time and there will always be people less fortunate or poor in this country and to say that this one time is when they should have stayed in their million dollar homes and given the impression that they were eating Ramon noodles instead of caviar or expensive steaks, is unrealistic. They attended a charity that raised 18 million dollars just before this party, but because your tax break isn’t as great as theirs, they should be shamed into staying indoors and not enjoying life? Is there some diagram that breaks it down to who can do what based on how much they should be paying in taxes because it will become handy for them and the rest of us?

I also find it extremely funny that there is all this outrage because the Sussexes went to a party at Bezos house but silence about Willy taking money from Bezos for Earthshot. It just really demonstrates how selective and fake this “outrage” is. Considering that scoots gets so giddy and goofy around celebrities and pays celebrities to attend his earth project events, I would wager he would LOVE to be invited to such a party. There have always been rich people. There always will be. Get over it. And many of them, like Gates, are pretty philanthropic.
Bezos has supported Trump financially and through his control and ideological realignment of the Washington Post so while I don’t think he’s directly to blame for the shutdown, he is culpable in the broader US state of affairs. Beyond that, he is not particularly philanthropic. (I agree that Gates is, although we could have a broader conversation about the nature of Gates’s philanthropy, particularly the kinds of educational initiatives he supports.)
Also, philanthropy is inherently flawed. Why should I trust the kinds of investments billionaires make in “social good”? For every Mackenzie Scott, who is committed to no-strings attached donations to causes that I personally support, there’s a Peter Thiel. So, no thank you; I don’t think I will get over it.
Anyway, should Kris have cancelled her party? Maybe. It would have been a powerful statement, but I doubt she cares. And it’s that lack of care that I hate to see people I think more highly of (Bey, Jayz, Meghan, Harry, Oprah) consorting with.

In reality the A-list party was a great opportunity for H&M to network and garner funds for their multiple charities. Not a Kardashian fan but I have to say, whoever did Kris’s latest face lift is a GENIUS. She looks great.
It was as a grifter like behavior, at least now, this couple can’t act holier than thou. Just like we call out racist attacks directed at them, we also should criticize them for legitimate reasons. Just because there were many black celebrities or A listers, it doesn’t mean the K’s are good. Everyone involved is just trash. Fame makes people act like prostitutes, selling their morality for money and access.
They don’t act holier than thou just like Meghan has never been vegan. The press characterizes them that way and it’s sick and twisted how much people care when the men running the show get driven around in limo’s with blacked out windows, flown in helicopters, are removing the one photo of themselves on websites and are starting to surround themselves with military-esque private security forces.
In the face of all that, I don’t know how to care what the American celebrity socialites are doing. Just like I don’t care whether Kate enjoyed sitting next to Trump or not. They are not the problem.

Meghan and Harry don’t wax on about inequality and social justice nearly as much as many of the people in attendance. Megan rarely says anything at all and none of them have the influence they’re attributed with having. It’s not that I think H&M or any celebrity is above criticism, but we do make up narratives about them with little real evidence and often in the face of evidence in direct contradiction to the narrative we like best.
I’m here, because I’ve been watching since they got engaged and the way Meghan has been treated is a travesty. Nothing she has done or not done rises to the level of scrutiny and hysteria she’s subjected to, day in and day out. If I were her, I would have said screw it, I’m going to enjoy being rich a long time ago. They’ll hate me either way.

This is another case of the palaces not really having a good or even remotely reasonable response to what the Sussexes do, other than they don’t like them being accepted around powerful people. So it’s tacky for Harry and Meghan to attend a birthday party but ok for King Charles to have some of those very same people from that party at his state banquet for Trump or for William to fly in celebrities for his Earthshot. As for the Sussex fans who don’t like this, why exactly? We all love when they visit places like Colombia and Nigeria for goodwill or charitable events( despite thise countries human rights records), have no problem with them going to celebrity filled fundraisers like Baby2Baby or Kevin Costners 1st responders event and we obviously love the philanthropic work and events they participate in. However there is a definite issue with how they spend their social life. I don’t understand people who would love for the Sussexes to be billionaires (not my wish), but then get bothered with them hanging out with the billionaire class. I personally would have loved to see them at something like a Zohran Mamdani fundraiser but that’s not happening yet. I need to give this more of a think but all this is related to their proximity to power, whether it’s royalty or incredibly rich people or organizations with social capital. Even when they do the right thing, they need to appear to be above it all and flawless, and sometimes just going out for a good time with privileged people they know is not the right optics for some people. Then again, the snubbed by Hollywood story can be put to rest now.
