DJ Khaled has an entire freezer stocked with tons of ice cream: goals or wasteful?

DJ Khaled’s music is mid for the most part and I think his true skill is sucking up to other musicians, networking and convincing people to collaborate with him. That’s how he got Eric Clapton to let him sample “Layla” for “I Did It,” which is a mess of a song despite the hook and verses from Megan Thee Stallion and Lil Baby. We typically ignore Khaled and haven’t covered him in years, but I wanted to talk about the fact that he has an entire fridge stocked with seemingly every kind of ice cream! Khaled posted a video to Instagram (that’s below) opening his giant ice cream freezer and taking out a bar from a pack of Stoneridge bars. He has trouble figuring out how to get the box open to the point where he gives up, tears it down the side and shoves it back in the door. I question why he couldn’t have done another take after he messed it up that badly, but obviously he does not care.

I read about this on People Magazine, where they have details of the contents of Khaled’s fridge. These include “pints and half-gallons of Breyers, Ben & Jerry’s and Häagen-Dazs” in the main part and a door lined with “ice cream bars and popsicles, including Milky Way, Klondike, Blue Bunny, Snickers and more.” I have many questions. Is the door next to this the real freezer and if so, where is the refrigerator? Is this even his main kitchen or is it like a rec kitchen?

Khaled has two boys aged nine and five. Kids do not need an entire freezer full of ice cream, but it’s surely fun for them to go pick some out. Hopefully they do not have unrestricted access to the ice cream fridge, because I know as a grown adult I would have trouble restraining myself.

Jenna Bush and Scarlett Johansson talked about this on the Today Show yesterday. (Jenna mispronounced DJ Khaled’s name despite the fact that he yells it in all of his songs.) Scarlett said her freezer is full of old fries and frozen chicken that she can’t be bothered to defrost. Same. As Scarlett said “who defrosts chicken?” You do it when you need to go shopping and are desperate.

As far as wasteful things rich people do, having an ice cream freezer is understandable to me. Who as a child has not dreamed of having massive amounts and varieties of ice cream on hand? It also reminds me of the entire candy room Nick Cannon has in his house, although he certainly has enough children to enjoy it.

Here’s the video. To repeat a joke I made six years ago, you know what Khaled is not eating.

These are photos of Khaled and his wife Nicole Tuck’s joint 50th birthday party in Miami last night. It looks fun and you can see more pics on Getty.

  1. My husband has a stockpile of ice cream in the garage freezer. We are by no means rich but there is an ice cream place here in town that makes it fresh and they have many flavors. They close from December 1 to March 1 so he stockpiled many pints. He actually has a list on the freezer of what and how many pints he has lol.

If that’s what he likes, good for him. Not the healthiest but we all lovf ice cream. My issue is with the mid brands like Breyers and Haagen Daz when there are so many better and higher quality options out there. Breyer’s no longer even labels their product as ice cream now.

I adore ice cream and always have some on hand. However, it doesn’t stay fresh forever. If a container has been opened and is in the freezer for weeks, it develops a weirdness about it & becomes covered with ice crystals. Not good. If I were this guy with options that having a few bucks can buy, I’d have my trusted assistant rotate the stock and keep my freezer full of the freshest of tasty treats!
