The Fanning sisters both attended the Golden Globes last night. Elle Fanning was nominated for her supporting role in Sentimental Value, and Dakota attended to support All Her Fault, which had several nominations. Elle has such a high-flying career these days, but Dakota is holding her own. Dakota has really leaned into miniseries and limited series these days, I think she’s done like three limited series in a row. Anyway, the head-to-head fashion face-off is inevitable, but I thought both sisters looked really nice. Elle wore Gucci, with Cartier jewelry, including that incredible necklace. There’s a subtle pattern on her dress which is supposed to be a reference to Norway, because Sentimental Value is a Norwegian film. Have we seen Elle in similar gowns? For sure. But I liked this, it’s flattering and she was having fun.

Dakota Fanning wore Vivienne Westwood, and this is a pretty classic Westwood design/silhouette. The dress itself is lovely but I think this muted color does Dakota no favors. I think both Fanning sisters feel like their coloring is so fair, they need to stick with lighter colors, but I wish they would go bolder. It looks like Dakota is wearing a sparkly flesh dress.

Ariana Grande also wore Vivienne Westwood. I loved this? Grateful to not see her in pink. Thrilled that she’s gone back to brunette as well. The high pony means that Ari is going back to pop music too.

Brittany Snow is, like Dakota, leaning into limited series and streaming series these days and she’s very good at it. Unfortunately, this Danielle Frankel (bridal) gown was not the look. It looks like what it is – a wedding gown at an awards show.
