In the past week, regarding the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Australian tour, I actually believe that most of the “royal sources say this and that” stories are coming from Buckingham Palace, not Kensington Palace. It’s King Charles and his courtiers who have been trying to flood the zone with lines of attack, and they’re the ones trying to force the press to lie and say that the tour wasn’t successful, that Meghan’s OneOff app crossed a line, that blah blah blah. Prince William and Kate’s team has been suspiciously quiet, either that or they’ve gotten better at covering their tracks and making it look like the attacks are coming from Buckingham Palace. Well, then this story happened and it looks like KP has awoken from their spring-break slumber. Apparently, Robert Irwin REFUSED to meet with the Duchess of Sussex during the Australian visit. You see, Robert Irwin is a monarchist and he’s one of Prince William’s “celebrity friends.” There’s no evidence whatsoever that Meghan (and specifically ONLY Meghan) tried to get in touch with the Irwins, btw.
Meghan Markle was reportedly left disappointed after the Irwin family opted not to meet her and Prince Harry during their current Australian tour.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, had reportedly hoped to catch up with celebrity conservationist Robert Irwin, 22, and his family at Australia Zoo in Queensland.
‘Aligning with the Irwins’ worthy causes is something that Meghan and Harry could be on board with,’ an insider tells this week’s New Idea magazine.
However, the meeting did not go ahead, with New Idea reporting the Irwins politely declined the invitation due to their strong ties as monarchists.
‘They meant no ill-will towards the Sussexes, but at the end of the day they are all staunch monarchists and fiercely loyal to The Firm,’ an insider told the publication.
They added that Robert was particularly close to Harry’s brother William, and an ambassador for his Earthshot Prize, and didn’t want to upset the Prince of Wales by appearing to side with Meghan.
‘It just wasn’t possible,’ a source added.
Remember when Prince William “appeared” on the US version of Dancing with the Stars, with William sending a video message to Robert Irwin? William’s video was horrible – he had food in his teeth and he looked like he was in a prison cell. Anyway, I have no doubt that Robert Irwin has been told that he can never, ever acknowledge Harry and Meghan whatsoever, or else William will throw a tantrum. I just doubt that Meghan (and only Meghan??) asked for a meeting with Irwin. Like, that’s not what the Sussexes’ tour was even about, and Harry & Meghan don’t need to sidle up to random Aussie celebrities just to get attention. Please. Try again, incandescent egg!

This is actually the Mail quoting an even crappker Australian tabloid, so.
And visiting Queensland was never on the itinerary for their four day trip.
This!
They were in Sydney and Melbourne. It’s unlikely they’d fly to Queensland as well in the short time they were in the country.
i mean, these tabloids still think that everything in California is a 20 minute drive, lol.
Echoing Becks1: it’s very similar when they say the King will not under any circumstances visit Harry when he goes to DC later this month. California’s on the other side of the country!! The UK is so tiny these writers really do not understand what it’s like to be in a country, to travel throughout a country, that encompasses an entire continent or part of a continent (Oz, former, US, latter).
No one believes that.
New Idea is known as ‘No Idea’ in Australia and New Zealand for obvious reasons.
Plus travel time from Sydney to Australia Zoo would be about 4 hours there and 4 hours back. With such a short time in Australia would Harry and Meghan even be able to spare that amount of time traveling? It proves the foolishness of this story.
I don’t think the sussexes asked to meet him. I don’t think he’s even close to scooter. More media fantasy.
💯% media fantasy and put out by WanK because they know this Irwin won’t correct it. The fact that WanK seems to force people to choose a side or they won’t work with you is absolutely disgusting and completely unprofessional. Willy is destroying the monarchy faster than anyone by his raging and childlike tantrums.
The I r w ins are mine harold
Yeah what a joke!
There’s no way Meghan asked to meet some rando Aussie she has no connections with, when she and Harry had a schedule packed to the rafters, and probably had to spend time DECLINING requests to meet them.
Try harder, pathetic british royalist media!
Meghan’s main focus is bettering the lives of girls & women. Wildlife conservation has never been her remit. Harry’s heavily into that, but not Meghan.
Sounds like utter nonsense from the gutter UK press. This trip was such a win for the Sussexes, they may bring up everyone they can think of to say they ignored the Sussexes. As if this Irwin mam was on their radar.
Who?
LOL. The son of the man who used to act unhinged and harass wild animals on TV for ratings.
I get that his TV style wasn’t for everyone, but calling it “harassing animals” misses a lot of context. Steve Irwin’s work was focused on conservation and education, and he helped bring global attention to wildlife protection. A lot of people in conservation credit him with inspiring a new generation to care about animals.
He also passed away in 2006 and is considered a bit of an Aussie treasure, so it feels a little disrespectful to reduce his legacy to what is written in your comment. You don’t have to like his presentation style, but his impact was a lot more positive than that.
Beautifully said, @Joey
Steve Irwin was a global treasure! His family is pretty great, their zoo is wonderful and they do amazing conservation work. It does suck how literally everything in their lives is circled back to their dad by the media though.
That said – Robert Irwin is known as a genuinely nice friendly guy who loves animals. He and his family are based on a completely different part of the CONTINENT.
So to act as though Robert is shunning the Sussexes because William made a video “allowing” Robert to miss the Earthshot award because Robert was still in dancing with the stars? It’s ridiculous and petty and obviously coming from Williams camp. He makes everyone pick a side. By announcing that they picked his side and seeing if they push back. And then he’s like – ha! Yeah they picked me. It’s so gross and just such small behavior.
I agree. He would pull on their tails to get a reaction and make the clip more exciting. That’s harassing endangered animals, and if anyone else did it, they could be charged.
He also took his infant near a dangerous animal for ratings — then justified it because he’s such an “expert” that he can predict what the animals will do. In hindsight he was killed because he could NOT predict what wild animals will do, which made his actions all the more alarming.
What he did, he did for ratings which in turn is his money-making business. The animals themselves didn’t seem to matter as much.
@Joey, different strokes for different folks. To some, what Steve was doing was harassment of animals, to others it probably was considered “conservation”. Having animals in a circus and having them perform tricks for money is not necessarily “good”, some might actually argue that its animal cruelty. The difference between what Steve was doing and what any other circus owner is doing is just in semantics. Again, different strokes for different folks, no one is right or wrong.
@Joey, I get it that Steve Irwin is missed and still a celebrity in Australia; he had a fan base where I am in the US as well. Having said that, his show only made me angry, because his actions with the animals were often inappropriate in any context. Animals deserve our respect, not exploitation. It was harassing, and it set a bad example: 1) wild animals should not be comfortable interacting with humans because it puts them at risk; 2) humans risk being harmed by wild animals when they get too close. Irwin was stabbed by a stingray while filming for his show. That’s a horrible way to die, and it could and should have been avoided. Stingrays are generally docile animals, until they feel threatened.
He was in CA for a few months doing DWTS – I’m sure if she wanted to meet with him (eyeroll) that would have been easier.
IKR? But Willard, the rat, even tried to show dominant ownership over that by calling up Robert while he’s busy dancing and trying to shame him for not going to Willard’s EarthSpit 🙂↔️
William really has people picking sides like he is a middle school bully not a future King and head of a church. I am sure his own kids will be told to pick a side come divorce time.
You know its not true, right? 🤣🤣🤣 just because its written, doesn’t make it true. Anyone who has a grasp on geography knows this is fake, other than what’s Robert Irwin of all people got to do with meghan.
I thought this was the smarter gossip sites
If true, the Irwins should understand that two things rise to the top; shit and cream. They’ve grabbed ahold of the wrong one.
obviously its not true 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I can’t believe how many people actually believe these stories.
Are you just replying to yourself over and over again?
Did you see the word “if” at the beginning of my sentence? I don’t believe it’s true either, which is why is said, “If true,…” Please read every word.
@alice b tokeless
So, “IF” you don’t believe its true, why contribute to the manufactured narratives around H&M by joining in the chorus of this particular conspiracy theory?
@ Lamb Chop is correct: as a sentient being, with decency at one’s core, one shouldnt contribute to conspiracy theories and false narratives (even via mindless gossip) by picking up the ounce of possibility that conspiracy theorists ALWAYS throw in, safe in the knowledge that even otherwise decent folks will embrace and use thst ounce of possibility in extrapolated narratives, thereby advancing the agenda of false narratives.
Score 1 for the conspiracy theorists!
[insert rolled eyes & bored yawn here]
Personally, with the deluge of nasty headlines about H&M that come up in my newsfeed every day I come to this site to feel encouragement and camaraderie from comments like yours @Alice B Tokeless and I totally agree with your comment and would like to add that If True, Irwin did himself and his organization a big disservice. In fact, I think he should make a statement publicly denying this apparent lie about himself.
In what known universe would Meghan give a shit about meeting Robert Irwin? Their lying fanfic knows no bounds. When im actually in Australia no one cares about the irwins, only the weird weekly magazines. They’re not disliked, just not discussed.
Someone that lives in Australia said his Zoo isn’t located anywhere near where Harry and Meghan were for their visit so this doesn’t make sense. No shade to Robert but he doesn’t really fit in with the purpose of their visit.
It’s not. The zoo is an hour train ride north of Brisbane, which is probably a 3 hour flight north of Sydney.
i don’t think such a visit was ever requested or discussed.
But that said, I do believe William has made it clear that if you associate with him, you cannot associate with Harry. very few have been willing to cross that line (most notably Jose Andres.) We’ve heard too many times from various sources about how William makes people choose between them.
Unfortunately, we are back to the wild fantastical nameless palace briefings by the palaces against Meghan and Harry that drove them out of the country. For all those speculating that they are wanting to return, obviously there is no chance. Perhaps all of this briefing is to make certain they are thoroughly reminded of that.
Were they even in Queensland?
I was going to ask how far away Queensland was from where they were on their packed and busy trip but I honestly was so bored with the lie that even I didn’t care enough to ask or to look it up LOL.
Let’s just say all of this is true, why on Earth with Meghan asked to meet with him if she knew all this from the beginning? Also, when has conservation ever been Meghan’s wheelhouse? This tells you where this is coming from.
I doubt that Harry wanted to meet him either, but it would make much more sense for someone that sits on the board of the African Parks to want to meet with someone who works with the Australian Zoo than Meghan.
This is reactionary because so many Australian celebs were enthusiastic about meeting or interacting with the Sussexes when they came, so they have to have a popular Australian who didn’t want to meet them specifically because of the monarchy. It couldn’t be Chris Hemsworth or Margot Robbie not wanting to have dinner.
Still with the lies!!!
To me the giveaway that this is made up is that they try to single out Meghan as the one trying to get a meeting with him and his family because of their conservation efforts. Meghan has never been a person who is a huge conservationist, so there would be no reason that Meghan would want such a meeting more than Harry. Even though, I don’t even think Harry would want such a meeting because he has never been about riding the backs of other conservationists, like William is. Harry and Meghan’s trip was so packed and filled with real meaningful interactions that I can’t see this being anything either of them would have wanted at all.
Its so ridiculous like Meghan was dying to meet this young man. It would make more sense for Harry but since Harry knows his brother is so childishly territorial he probably wouldn’t even approach such a meeting because of silly headlines. They dont even bother using Harry as a shield to attack Meghan anymore they are just flat targeting her with nonsense.
If they really had wanted to talk to Irwin, there is always picking up the phone to talk. And there were nothing on the agenda about meeting him on the trip.
It’s weird that this tabloid is saying that only Meghan would want to meet with Irwin, cuz Harry has more of a connection to wildlife conservation? I guess that mentioning Harry would undermine the whole “staunch monarchist” narrative? I don’t know, this reminds me a lot of how William’s sources crowed that he had “stolen” Chef Jose Andres away from Harry, doesn’t it?
It makes William look tyrannical and frankly insane to have his purported friend so worried about upsetting the fragile ego of the Prince of Wales. That’s not a friend, that’s not even a patron- it’s something much worse.
Desperation. This is hilarious and not even believable. Not to be mean about Robert Irwin but he is small beans compared a lot of actual Australian celebrities. I’m sure he’s respected and beloved, so I mean no disrespect at all.
That article is such gibberish it could’ve been written by an outdated version of ChatGPT. Maybe it was.
Why would Meghan alone want to meet Robert Irwin? This story makes no sense.
The Sussex Brand is very tight and well defined. Children safety/wellness, empowering girls and women, supporting veterans and mental health. Robert Irwin isn’t part of that equation. They’re clearly trying to insert a “Team Wills” component to the tour *eye roll*.
If William is such a good pal of Robert Irwin, why doesn’t he travel to Australia?
And someone please buy the Daily Mail a map. Its reporters seem to think that every country is as tiny as England.
Last time William was in the US, he didn’t meet with me. Can I say I refused to meet with him too?
The article is loaded with the type of language that reveals that the whole thing is made-up crap to smear and insult someone, “They added that Robert was particularly close to Harry’s brother William, and an ambassador for his Earthshot Prize, and didn’t want to upset the Prince of Wales by appearing to side with Meghan.” They managed to reveal how small and petty William is and what an obedient monarchist Irwin is. Not flattering to Irwin, actually, and obviously nobody actually talked to an Irwin to write this trash. Isn’t New Idea the trash publication that outed Harry’s location during his first tour? Anway, the Waleses have been invited to Australia, although it appears they declined. However, now perhaps they will show up with the kids in tow and visit the Irwin’s zoo. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if this happened. A holiday for the whole family paid for by the tax-payers. William could try to make it all about EarthShot, although specifically the kind of conservation the Irwins do is not its broader focus.
Noooo, leave the Irwins out of this.
After William’s sweaty, globular, horse-toothed head, in close-up, no less, with spinach trapped in the equine dentition, interrupted Robert Irwin’s minor celebrity reality show appearance for reasons unknown, mudding about with crocodiles and whatnot may seem preferable to anything royal adjacent.
I assert that Robert Irwin hated shaking William’s hand and immediately retired to a men’s room to wash off the remnants of semen (sources claim and it’s understood) fouling William’s hand.
See how easy it is to make up bullshit about other people when you have no journalistic standards, the first ones being truth and integrity? And I swear the above is true!
There are Australians under the age of 30 who are monarchists? Really?
They write about Irwin as if he were at least the King of Australia, but he’s just a 22-year-old boy who left school at 15 and had a famous father who tragically died. His father used him from childhood in his film footage, familiarizing him with crocodiles and the camera. Now he’s simply a well-known face, doing some a bit photography, some dancing, and promoting the family zoo and environmental issues.
He may be a nice guy, but why would anyone “kill” themselves to meet him? Except for William, of course, because he’ll follow anyone who agrees to meet him. Yes, you read that correctly – he’ll agree to meet him – because the future King of England runs around begging for attention, ultimately having to buy it, like Heidi Klum or Minogue.
