Emma Chamberlain looked like sheer art in a painted Mugler gown at the Met Gala

Emma Chamberlain
Emma Chamberlain was one of the standout early looks at the Met Gala last night in a sheer painted Mugler gown that looked like an oil painting. She killed it in this look and her hair and makeup complement the gown. Give her some eyebrows and this would be perfect. I love the rows of asymmetric ruffles on the skirt, the exceptional use of color, and the trailing ombre fringe on her sleeves. This was one of my favorites. I don’t pay much attention to Emma but that’s likely to change. Plus she had an alternate party look!

Sam Smith brought the DRAMA in a striking look designed by their partner, Christian Cowan. This is based on work by queer art deco artist Erté. I only wish we saw more art deco and art nouveau-inspired looks last night.

Vogue correspondent Cara Delevingne was in a black Ralph Lauren gown that looked way better from the back. It’s phenomenal on the red carpet.

Ashley Graham wore a nude colored Di Petsa that wasn’t anything special, but I always like to see her on the red carpet. She’s much better at interviewing people than Cara and I think she could have done it on her own.

La La Anthony is also a gifted interviewer. She was in a brown applique floral Wiederhoeft gown with crystal embellishments. Her hair and makeup are so glam!

Camila Morrone looks like so many other actresses and models and I usually can’t place her. Camila stars in the Netflix series Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. I tried watching it based on the hype but, as is typical of Netflix, they drag it out too much. It could have been a great movie instead of an eight-episode show. Anyway she was in a white Tory Burch column gown with a bicolor cape. This would have been outstanding on any other red carpet.

Figure skater Alysa Lui was in Louis Vuitton! I don’t want to forget her. I’m so happy to see her at the Met Gala. I wish this was a little less ruffly but she’s referencing her athleticism, which is cool.

Emma is there with Chase and maybe Lisa for my favorite looks so far. Her interviews were good. I didn’t know who she was before.

Same Emma than Chase. Emma’s dress looks so much like oil paint and every detail is spectacular

Emma’s look is phenomenal! No idea who she is, but this is fab! Cara also looked divine! And Sam Smith’s Erte is a sight to behold! I have to say, I didn’t can’t the reference until I read it but it is spot on!

Emma is tied with Anne Hathaway for my favorite of the night. The draping and ruffles and the use of color and the ombre painting…just YESSSSSS.

And I agree that there should’ve been more Art Nouveau, dammit!

Did anyone do Salvador Dali? Ripe with ideas!

I don’t know who Emma is but that is by far the most stunning look of the night.
I just can’t with the folks who don’t dress on theme but Alysa Liu’s is a really sweet look.

Emma’s was one of my favorite looks of the night. She really did look like a work of art.

I agree AND they followed it through into her party dress. That’s commitment I will applaud.

      This is truly spectacular.

When I saw Emma, I thought that the rest might as well have stayed home.

There were some others that I liked too, people — or their teams — who absolutely got that “art” part right, but many ruined good designs with bad postures and/or bad hair.

Emma had the best look of the night. That dress is STUNNING, nailed the theme, and she looks gorgeous in it.

Why are eyebrows no longer in style? Seemed like quite a lot of bleached/covered eyebrows and I don’t get it.

Jenna Ortega has been doing it for a while, hate it. I think Emma’s dress is so stunning but she gets a 1/2 point off for no eyebrows. 9.5/10

Cara’s makeup was the best of the night. Catching the light in motion her face looked fantastic. It doesn’t quite show it in still.

Tots agree her makeup is on point and yea eyebrows! She does have great posture and knows how to show off a dress. I really liked her demure but dramatic dress.

Emma was one of my favourite looks of the night but so was Sam Smith and both their poses elevated their outfits

Best look of the night. The rest were horrific. Felt like I was watching the Capitol at Hunger Games.

Sarah Paulson’s dollar mask was an insult to people struggling right now. Another entitled and emotionally blind celebrity. I expected better from her.

Emma is my second favorite look of the night after Chase. The dress is absolutely amazing. Hair is good, makeup runs it for me. But the dress was really perfect for the theme, both the idea and the execution were excellent.
