Steven Seagal sued for sexual harassment and human trafficking

2008 JCPenney Asian Excellence Awards - Arrivals
90s action star Steven Seagal is being sued for sexual harassment and human trafficking by a 23 year-old model who claims she responded to a job posting on Craig’s List for an executive assistant. Once she was chosen for the job, she was flown to a remote home in New Orleans where Seagal was filming his reality show. At home with Seagal, she alleges that she was subjected to several unwanted sexual advances and was forced to watch while Seagal and another assistant had sex in front of her. What’s more is that Seagal, 58, lived in the home with his wife, infant, a nanny and three other employees, one an executive assistant and the other a 19 year-old Russian model who the complainant claims was there just to meet his sexual needs. While Seagal’s lawyer says the lawsuit is fabricated and that the woman never told anyone about Seagal’s harassment, the lawsuit has her informing two different supervisors in Seagal’s company.

The lawsuit was brought by his former personal assistant, Kayden Nguyen, who is a 23-year-old former model.

The legal documents say Segal “treated Ms. Nguyen as his sex toy.”

Nguyen is suing for sexual harassment, illegal trafficking of females for sex, failure to prevent sexual harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination and false representation about employment.

The document also claims that “Mr. Seagal has been keeping two young female Russian ‘Attendants’ on staff who were available for his sexual needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”

But Seagal’s top-notch lawyer Marty Singer fired back in ferocious manner. He released this statement to RadarOnline.com:

“The lawsuit filed by Kayden Nguyen against Steven Seagal is a ridiculous and absurd claim by a disgruntled ex-employee who was fired. The claims in her lawsuit are a complete fabrication without a scintilla of truth. Steven Seagal’s attorney Marty Singer stated that “I am extremely confident this meritless lawsuit will be dismissed. Ms. Nguyen filed her lawsuit without even notifying Steven Seagal or his representatives of her alleged claims because she was aware that claims could be asserted against her based on her own conduct. Her lawsuit is nothing more than a preemptive strike by a disgruntled ex-employee.”

Singer charged Nguyen with illegal activity.

Nguyen claims that she was required “to watch as “Sasha” (Russian attendant) and Mr. Seagal performed sex acts on each other.”

Segal was working as a Reserve Deputy Chief of the Sheriff’s Office in the community of Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, something he documented in his A & E reality TV show Steven Seagal: Lawman.

He used Craigslist to hire an executive/personal assistant who could also be on his reality show.

Nguyen was hired in Los Angeles, but then flown to New Orleans to live in Seagal’s house for the show.

On her first night of work, Seagal allegedly engaged in physical and sexual assault by “pushing his hands under her shirt and attemping to fondle her bare breast,” and “forcing her head against his bare chest.”

Then she claims the next morning things got even worse. He allegedly “forcibly held her legs apart.” Then “forced his hand down her pants…” The document goes into graphic detail that isn’t suitable for all audiences.

Then the suit alleges a third physical assault took place a few hours later, where “Seagal forcibly lifted Ms. Nguyen’s blouse, forced his head on her bare chest and attempted to suck her breasts and nipples. He stopped only when she ran.”

After only a few days of work, Nguyen left the house on Sunday, February 28, 2010.

Seagal, who practices Tibetan Buddhism, has six children from three different mothers.

[From Radar Online]

The legal documents for this case are available on TMZ and Radar, and they’re kind of fascinating. The fact that anyone could get away with that level of sexual abuse is sickening. One detail that isn’t in the quoted text above is that fact that the woman fled the home late one night with the excuse that she needed to meet with visiting family. Nguyen left all her possessions there, including her laptop, clothing, and makeup. When she asked for her stuff back, she was told that she would have to sign a legal document stating that she promised not to sue for sexual harassment! She refused, and still does not have any of her things. Of course it’s possible that all of this is made up by someone hoping for a fat settlement. Some of the details seem over the top. It looks pretty bad for Seagal, though, and I was convinced.

I’ve never trusted men who wear pinkie rings.

  2. lastwordlinda says:

If this is true, it’s horrible but TMI, TMI, TMI. I almost threw up my breakfast.

  3. Snarf says:

Why didn’t she contact the authorities and wait 14 months to sue then? Something about this seems off.

  4. EG says:

Film director Bruce Beresford’s biography discusses Seagal’s entourage of Asian women. He describes them as a harem of sorts.

  5. Jackson says:

Really weird story. Nothing would surprise me anymore.

  6. Kaboom says:

Doesn’t he waddle too slowly these days to be able to harass anyone?

  7. bellaluna says:

    Why am I not surprised?

  8. anon says:

No! My husband and I laugh so hard at his movies.. we have Seagal movie fests sometimes as a joke. Then not long ago a friend told me he was accused of domestic abuse (Kelly Le Brock I think? His ex) and that depressed me. Mr. Zen is an act?
This is horrifying and worse yet is his layer can make the girl look like a lying opportunist even if it did happen. Frightening. No more Steven movies, screw that.

  9. debbie says:

To quote a line from the movie “Animal House”…that man is a P-I-G PIG!!!!!!!

  10. Tia C says:

    I believe it. He’s gross.

“Why didn’t she contact the authorities and wait 14 months to sue then? Something about this seems off.”

Exactly, especially if you’re at all concerned about “human traffiking”. And how come she hung around for a few more days after the first sexual assault? I suspect the key to this is in the “former model” – her looks don’t pay the bills any more so she’s hoping for a big pay day for this.

Of course, I’m being ultra-cynical here, but it all seems a little fishy.

  12. R2D2 says:

I actually believe this story. This case is not unusual for celebs or powerful/political people, women are bought and sold for them all the time except they’re usually aware of it.
but ewwww to SS, he’s really not aging well and looks gross.

  13. cara says:

who needs tv when all this is going on eh?

  14. Hautie says:

All this happen in Feb 2010 so the timing of the lawsuit makes sense. There was no way any thing would have happen to him in the Parish that he lives in. Getting a lawyer was a smarter move.

Yet sadly it is his wig that annoys me most. Or maybe he is a success story for, Men’s Hair Club?

I also recall Kelly LeBrock stating he got real nasty with her early in their relationship.

  15. Lady Nightshade says:

If you read the full complaint it is pretty compelling. A dumb model wouldn’t be smart enough to make up such a believable story.

  16. MsTriste says:

It sounds like rape to me. Combine that with the trafficking, and it makes me wonder why she and her lawyer didn’t go to the authorities and have him arrested. This should be a criminal action, not a civil one. Oh wait, she wants money, not justice. My bad.

    I still believe her, though.

  17. Obvious says:

Whether or not this is true, why did it take her so long to file the complaint? Are there no cops in that city or where she went home? Answer is to have the DA get him then sue him again in a civil court.

  18. Whatever says:

If this is true, she should have driven straight to the police and had him arrested. That is what you do when you are the victim of a crime.

  19. skibunny says:

    His head is huge!

  20. Constance says:

    all. so. gross.

I need to go bleach my mind’s eye.

  21. ceenitall says:

Most Jefferson Parish cops think him and his show are a joke. She could have gone to any JPS officer and they would have taken care of him!

I understand that the parish dosen’t want another season of his show but they have signed a contract and they need the money.

  22. Katyusha says:

I wonder what Peg Bundy thinks…

  23. snapdragon says:

i will never sleep again *shudder*

  24. Sincerity says:

    @Hautie:

I used to live in Louisiana and I believe this woman made the right move. When people have more money and influence than you do, it’s always much better to allow someone who really knows the law inside and out to handle such a “delicate” situation. I’ve read that Steven Seagal is quite an egomaniac which always seem to get these “high profile” people BUSTED!!!

  25. Katyusha says:

Nevermind. For the longest time, I thought they were brother and sister!!

    They’re not.

  26. Jeri says:

I believe it, hope he doesn’t skate on it.

  27. Kim says:

Remember Jenny McCarthy saying in an interview when she first got to Hollywood she had audition for Steven Segal and when she got to his house for the audition, he told her to take off all her clothes and she ran!!! To many women have horrid things to say about him so this story is probably true.

  28. abyp says:

this is so true, i served this man once, and he ask me the same thing.. i did thought it was suspicious especially he ddidnt know me right? why would you want someone to be your assistance when you dont know nothing bout that person!

  29. gg says:

    Fat Elvis.

  30. Aitch says:

Well, I do know that he dumped Kelly “don’t hate me because I’m beautiful” LeBrock for their kids nanny. And I don’t know if the nanny is wife#3 or what. Sexual slavery/trafficking is much much more common than people realize.

  31. anotherrandom says:

You people don’t have to believe her, but do your math correctly. February only had 28 days, she left Feb 28, 2010–that’s this year–and the suit was filed April 12. That’s not a long time, and the papers say she went to the CA employment authorities first. Maybe she’s distrustful of police, but she didn’t sit around before taking action.

  32. mags says:

i believe it. i believe there’s a lot more of of these things happening than we’re aware of. just look at the ads even on this website “find your philipina beauty”. i think i need to stop reading this gossip b/c i will have no faith in the male sex soon…
