Candy companies are always busy concocting new flavor combinations for beloved products. A lot of the time, it feels to me like they’re trying to reinvent the wheel. If I want a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, I want a melt-in-your-mouth morsel of milk chocolate and peanut butter filling, not another candy, you know what I mean? On the other chocolate-smudged hand, I do concede that some of these efforts have turned out winners. Peanut M&M’s, for instance, are at this point as much a staple as the original. Well, M&M’s debuted another combo four years ago that slipped by me: the Crunchy Cookie, an M&M-cookie hybrid of chocolate chip encased in milk chocolate and the signature M&M’s shell. Now they’re about to serve a new flavor, and this time I may have to get involved. M&M’s Mint Crunchy Cookie packs will be available exclusively at Walmart starting in September (exact date tbd) for only a limited run, and they’re already being compared to Girl Scout Thin Mints. Go on…
There’s no world in which I would turn down a sweet, crunchy candy-coated M&M. Whether it’s in a cookie, scattered in my movie theater popcorn, or just enjoyed by the handful, the iconic M&M is a classic for a reason.
Even though the original milk chocolate M&M always has a time and a place, I often find myself gravitating toward M&M’s other flavors—because, let’s be honest, there are just so many to choose from. The Peanut and Pretzel M&M’s have become a classic in my house, but I usually have to wait all year for my go-to M&M’s flavor to return to shelves: Holiday Mint.
Chocolate and mint make an elite combo, but one that typically only sees the store as M&M’s during the winter holiday season. Until now.
We still have a few months to go before peppermint, gingerbread, and sugar cookie take over the shelves, but M&M’s just quietly launched a new minty candy that I can’t wait until the holidays to try. This fall, M&M’s is introducing a new Mint Crunchy Cookie flavor.
In 2022, M&M’s turned the fan-favorite candy-dotted cookie into an official flavor with the launch of Crunchy Cookie. Now, four years later, the crunchy M&M candies are getting a chocolate-mint makeover—and they’re giving serious Girl Scout cookie vibes.
M&M’s new Mint Crunchy Cookie flavor features milk chocolate and mint flavors wrapped around a crunchy, sweet cookie center. While it’s not identical to the Girl Scouts’ Thin Mints, which have a chocolate cookie center, M&M’s latest minty, chocolatey, crunchy candy is quite close—and it’s almost as exclusive.
Instead of stopping by the Girl Scouts table outside your local Walmart, you’ll have to head inside to find these M&M’s Mint Crunchy Cookie candies. The new flavor is a Walmart exclusive that will be sold in two sizes, a 2.83-ounce Share Size and a 7.4-ounce Sharing Size.
First and foremost: nothing, I repeat NOTHING will ever take the place of the sliver of perfection that is the Girl Scout Thin Mint cookie. In this specific case, I think the fact that M&M’s are shaped so differently from Thin Mints makes it feel less like M&M’s is trying to encroach on the Scouts’ turf. Plus this is a limited run, so for all we know we’ll never see M&M’s Mint Crunchy Cookie again. Overall, though, I am all for increasing the number of mint treats in this world. We need more mint, not less, and certainly not for only one season a year! Like the author of this article, I too lament the way many companies limit mint flavor profiles for just during the winter holidays. Sure, peppermint is seen as a Christmas motif, but classic mint is timeless! And chocolate paired with mint is an elite combo; decadent yet straightforward, rich yet refreshing. Mint chocolate chip isn’t a standard ice cream flavor for nothing! I’m yelling because I care!!
Anyway, be on the lookout at Walmart starting in September, at which point we’ll reconvene and compare notes.
Note by CB: This is not a sponsored post we just like M&Ms

I don’t even know where a Walmart is but I need this.
We don’t even have a Walmart in this country, much less on this continent — but we’ve managed quite well without it.
So far.
These M&M’s sound exactly like my kind of candy though.
Oh well, we’ll always have Aldi’s limited, seasonal iced coffee mix for ice cold milk that tastes like After Eight…
I’ll get in line for these. Mint chocolate is a year ‘round treat for me and here in the States, those Andes Mints are hitting my wallet hard.
*makes gimme hands*
