Prince Harry made a surprise public appearance on Friday evening. He was out in Leicester, attending a rugby match with his Spencer cousin, George Mccorquodale. George is the son of Princess Diana’s sister, Sarah McCorquodale. We’ve known that Harry is tight with many of his Spencer cousins, but I have never seen this man in my whole life!! Anyway, this was the Gallagher Prem match between Leicester and Gloucester at Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium. Leicester won, and it’s a good possibility that Harry was rooting for Leicester because he was seated near the Leicester team’s chief executive.
It looks like this was what Harry wanted with his move back to the UK. He wanted to do Invictus work and charity work and go to pubs and attend rugby matches. We’ve yet to see if the Duchess of Sussex really has anything similar on her agenda for her life in the UK, although this weekend, their office confirmed a joint appearance in Nottingham for this coming week. I wondered! Because it felt like her agenda was basically “raising her kids and not attending any of Harry’s events.”
Additionally, at the match, Harry was allegedly booed when he appeared on the big screen. Well, there are several possibilities: 1) Harry was booed, 2) fans were booing the rugby players/match and it wasn’t about Harry, 3) people were booing Harry AND the rugby all together, 4) no one booed. For what it’s worth, I went looking for a video of the alleged booing and I couldn’t find anything. While royalists are gleefully piling on about the (alleged) boos, of course they don’t want to acknowledge the many times the Other Brother has been booed to hell and back at sporting events. Like, okay, let’s say that Harry was booed at rugby and it’s apparently indicative of his overwhelming unpopularity, right? So isn’t the same true when William is booed as well? Fair is fair.

Apparently fans were booing a controversial call by a ref when the cam cut away to Harry first, and then TOB. So “both” were “booed”. But in actuality, it was the ref’s call. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ There’s no way a tabloid is going to miss a chance to cut Harry.
TOB? William was there, too?
I’m sure that is exactly what happened, the booing had everything to do with what was happening on the field not Prince Harry… but of course the tabloids spin it to say the opposite. We have all seen the leftovers booed every where since Queen Elizabeth died, so they are desperate to turn that narrative on Prince Harry while the leftovers hide behind their emotional support polls.
Okay, rugby, not soccer. It’s all the same to me. The only thing I’m clear about is the elite athletes get way too much money.
It is mind boggling how much money baseball/basketball players make. I’m sure NHL players will be catching up soon.
From people who were there – the boos were related to a controversial call, nothing to do with Harry at all. But the truth doesn’t stop the tabloids.
It’s not impossible that Harry was booed. Rugby fans probably boo any royal who shows up to a match. I know I would.
That fair, and yeah I wouldn’t take boos too seriously at a rugby match. That said, while I personally wouldn’t boo Harry, I can see how everyday Britains might be fed up. If you read Spare and felt compassion for Harry and rooted him on his new life, this unexplained return to Britain amidst so much chaos and hardship for normal people might evoke a boo.
Where’s the video? Anyway if he was booed perhaps it will help him to realise he’s better off living in the US. I wish Meghan wasn’t doing engagements in the UK but hopefully this is a one off and she won’t do anymore until Invictus next year.
You have seen Harry’s cousin George before. He was at the 10th anniversary of Invictus service, together with his uncle, mom, aunt, and other cousins.
They are only a few months apart and George was a cute ginger as a child. There are photos of Diana with Harry and George, they looked like siblings.

I just love that Harry hangs out with his Spencer family. There are even children close to Archie’s and Lilibet’s age. No need to miss the Wails children.
Cousin George, was the splitting image of Harry when they were about ten. I don’t think the look survived growing up. Diana apparently called him her little Spencer.
Wow you’re right! Man were the Spencer’s genes strong with George when he was a kid.
It doesn’t matter whether Harry was actually booed or not. The derangers on social media, the royal commentators and the rota will repeat it a thousand times and even the Sussex friendly media will start to believe it.
I love a cousin meet up. I am an only child and the cousin bond is something else. Harry must be feeling like an only child nowadays. Another emotional area to bond with Meghan like they bonded over being children of divorce.
Rugby fans tend to be rough and ready. If Harry was booed, I doubt it was a serious thing.
I’ve also read and heard this debunked. I heard the commentator say, Oh, there’s Prince Harry, home enjoying a rugby game, or something to that effect. I also read that the camera panned to Harry at the moment that the ref made a call against the home team. Just unfortunate camera timing. I also saw a clip of an Australian commentator who announced he was no fan of Harry’s but he didn’t hear any booing for Harry. Was wondering when Harry would show up at a rugby match- he has made it clear that that is his most loved team sport. Hope Archie likes it too, because there’s going lots of pressure from papa to learn how to play!

You’re yet another person writing about this, but the media are immune to facts; because William got booed by the entire stadium, he *needs* boos for Harry—and if they aren’t there, they have to be manufactured. They can’t accept a reality where Charles is routinely booed and not even the presence of children could shield Kate from boo, while the Sussexes—whom they despise, smear, and sabotage—are met with applause and joy. 🙂
I just read an article about H&M that blithely repeats the repeatedly debunked nonsense that they were booed outside the church during the Queen’s Jubilee. I watched it live; when they appeared outside the church, they were met only with cheers. That likely infuriated William, his spiteful wife, and Charles—but most of all the media, who surely had articles about the Sussexes being booed already written and ready to go. After all, some inept heckler had clearly been paid off; as the Sussexes were leaving the church, he tried to boo, but the people standing nearby immediately shut him up and tore into him.
But the British gutter press will keep writing about them being “booed.”
The commentators often overstate how much the royals are revered in general. The people who show up for them are diehards and give a false impression of popularity. Those polls always seem juiced to me. I mean, my god, the British public booed the Wales children this year.
I love that their first engagement back in the UK will be in Nottingham which is where they had their first public appearance after they got engaged. I knw im in the minority but i like that Meghan has taken her time getting settled and not felt obligated to go out to events with Harry just because(especially in London which would be a spectacle). She’s doing this on her own time how she wants to; good for her.
Also nice for Harry that he gets to go watch his favorite sport with his cousin. Despite the stupid security crap it does seem like hes having the time of his life rn and got most of what he wanted. I do think it will be good for the kids to be able to spend more time with their Spencer cousins too. That being said, I’m definitely still hoping they will all be on a plane out of there the moment Invictus Birmingham ends.
Well, soccer hooligans kinda belong to Prince Hooligan, because he’s dedicated his life to soccer, drinking and pretending to work. All the best to Prince Harry, as always.
