Move over, Jolie-Pitts. The children of David and Victoria Beckham shall soon take over the entertainment world. Romeo Beckham, otherwise known as the middle son (previously the middle child before Harper Seven popped out last July), has participated in his very first modelling gig at age 10 for the very British Burberry brand. Since Romeo is a boy, I guess there’s not much danger in him being overtly sexualized in manner of mini-skirted Kaia Gerber, age 11, or (to a lesser degree) Danielynn Birkhead, age 6. Mostly, Romeo dances around with an umbrella in these ads, and (physically speaking, at least) he really seems like a mini Victoria except for one big difference. I mean, just look at that smile:
Stylish like his mommy and daddy!
David and Victoria Beckham’s son Romeo landed his first modeling gig with Burberry — at the age of 10.
The adorable boy is featured in the Spring/Summer 2013 campaign. Looking stylish in a Burberry trench coat, Romeo playfully holds an umbrella with a big smile on his face in one campaign shot.
“This season’s campaign lights up with the infectious energy of an amazing young cast of old and new Burberry family,” Christopher Bailey, Burberry Chief Creative Officer, said. “Cara [Delevingne], Edie [Campbell], Charlotte [Wiggins], Charlie [France] and Alex [Dunstan] are joined by Max [Rendell] and Romeo, who was a joy to work with and really stole the show.”
In addition to Romeo, David, 37, and Victoria, 38, are parents to sons Brooklyn, 13, and Cruz, 7 and daughter Harper, 17 months.
In an interview with Ryan Seacrest in January 2010, Victoria explained how her sons are “so different.”
“I mean, you’ve got Brooklyn, who is a real boy. He’s turning into a teenager. It takes him quite some time to do his hair in the morning before he goes to school,” she said. “Then we got Romeo, who loves fashion. He likes to go out in a suit with a bowler hat . . . and he’s a real fashion lover. And then Cruz just wants to break dance every opportunity he gets.”
[From Us Weekly]
Victoria seems bemused at the fact that all three of her boys have such separate and distinct personalities. It’s probably never boring in the Beckham household. Little Romeo is such a cutie too, and here’s a commercial of him in action for Burberry. Ha, I didn’t realize those “models” were actually mannequins until seeing the live-action verson of the advertisement.
Photos courtesy of Burberry
He is really cute but those mannequins are eerie. I thought they were real people, too. Don’t know why the female needs to have her legs so prominently on display when there’s a little kid in the ad.
A wonky photoshopped leg at that.
speaking of wonky Photoshop…what’s up with his disproportionate head-to-body ratio in the last pic?? He is cute, but the ‘shop work on this is not.
I thought he looked disproportionate as well! I keep looking at it and that’s all I can see.
The whole mannequins thing is creepy.
The whole photoshopped leg thud is terrible. So artificslly long & thin like a praying mantis.
Bit confused – they’re not mannequins are they? That’s Edie Campbell….
Off side maybe, but his teeth are so distracting!
I sure his teeth will work themselves out as he gets older (or they’ll be fixed?). And his “funny” teeth make him look cute – like a real kid who’s not perfect but sure is having a good time.
My son’s teeth looked like that at around that age and he was starting to get SO self-conscious about the gap in front. Dentist said he didn’t need braces but would consider fitting him with a retainer to close the gaps.
Now, almost two years later, the gaps are almost totally closed, I think from his other grown-up teeth coming in fully and pushing everything together.
Personally I think the quirky teeth are cuter and more unique but kids at that age mostly want nothing more than to conform. Adults, too, apparently! 🙂
No, they make him British ^_^
@F5 – almost all children have teeth like his at that age, not just the English. That’s a sad stereotype.
agree on the teeth. Too young.
But then I see who his parents are and it is no surprise.
He will be good looking as an adult but now… not overly so…
Oh man he is adorable.
Is it too early to say that he might not have inherited Beckham’s looks?
I may be one of the few women on earth not attracted to David…he reminds me too much of Ricky Gervais. And his voice!
I happen to think with this kid, the combination of David and Vicky resulted in good looks that are greater than the sum of either of their parts, lol!
I’ve always thought that Romeo is the only one who looks most like David. He is a good looking kid and will get better with age.
The other kids, including H7, are plain, and look more like Victoria’s side of the family.
They all have Victoria’s nose.
Actually I don’t think you are. Personally I find him really attractive but as the years go by I find myself more in the minority.
Their sons are all so handsome.
So cute and this seems natural for him (as stated, he loves fashion)so I’m sure he wasn’t pushed into it.
I don’t think it’s too young. Kids are going to model kids clothing, I don’t see anything wrong with that. Of course when it’s young kids modelling really inappropriate clothes then that’s a different matter, but this seems fine to me.
I agree wholeheartedly. Someone is going to have to model kids’ clothes. It’s annoying that it’s only a scandal when they have a celebrity parent, but during the summer they have little unfamous 7-year-old girls sporting string bikinis and it’s not until the bras are padded that anyone cares and screams about it.
Exactly, little kids in clothes more for teenagers really freaks me out. Why is it that when a celeb’s kid does it there is more uproar? Is it people just being annoyed at the nepotism but trying to disguise it? I would think that kids are actually going to be better of because their parents are in the business. Of course that doesn’t apply to ALL celeb parents but certainly the ones that aren’t completely messed up.
Miss Kiki, scroll down. I think our answer lies in post 24 and yes it is due to the nepotism. People don’t want the Beckhams to have more money, which I can see. I can’t see getting so upset about it, but that’s just me. Very bizarre, all this screaming over child models.
However, I think the bikinis last year sexualizing little girls were wayyyy over the line. If some famous person’s daughter would have modeled one, it would be a huge scandal.
These days entertainment & fashion industries reads like characters from Jackie Collins novels. Celebrities beget celebrities etc. These celekids are nudging out the kids of unknown unconnected parents looking for work more than ever. j/k to some degree…… Like every luxury brand they are adding a Beckham to their stable of faces. People even on this side of the pond are infatuated with the Beckhams: Wealth & good looks. We love this stuff. But we especially love when it all falls apart. Not that I wish that for them but it is true. Cute kids. Let’s hope he is being raised well.
He seems really into it (maybe a little too much so) but I don’t see the big deal. We know VB’s a good mom and wouldn’t let anything go out of control…
It is always fun to read the comments and see the difference in the take depending on the people involved.
I agree, if this was some other celebrity offspring there would be a lot of outrage accompanied by “won’t someone think of the children”.
Actually I think everyone feels moderately okay with this because we have a good sense that the parents are caring and actively involved. I can’t believe people are saying anything about his looks; the teeth will get fixed as he gets older and he is obviously going to be a lady killer.
I think a big factor in our approval is that these are two parents that do NOT need the attention or help for their own careers. I think there would be more of a side-eye to Victoria if this happened when she was still trying to break out in the fashion world- before she won that huge award.
This feels like them letting him do something to feel special and differentiate himself from his siblings; being a middle child can be really tough.
Didn’t he already make a Best Dressed list in the UK last year, much to the amusement of his father?
I think Romeo is cute.
I hope this parents have gotten him braces. & he looks like his dad
Awww he’s really cute, hope he doesn’t lose his wonderful smile.
He’s a doll and his teeth are fine – He’s TEN. Geez people.
That said – WTF is up with the female mannequin? That was in poor taste.
Right! It looks like the kid can see her smooth area. Creepy.
reminds me of a very young frank sinatra (probably the clothes have a lot to do with that). funny-looking kid… but maybe he just needs to grow in to his face.
Cute kid.
It’s good to know that nepotism is just as important in the fashion industry as it is in Hollywood. *eyeroll*
He’s just OK….when his mouth is closed.
He is cute but not any more so than many other kids. I feel that if his parents were not famous he would be passed over for modeling.
+1
I don’t have a problem with the ad or the kid…. just don’t think he would have been chosen from a group of no-names.
Just because the models aren’t moving doesn’t mean they’re mannequins.
Seriously.
C’mon people, those aren’t mannequins. They are REAL models, made up (and probably computer edited) to look frozen and plastic.
Are you sure that these ARE mannequins?
there are tons of cute kids out there…so what makes this kid so special???? or just because of his parents fame we should worship him as well! UGH
I think he’s adorable and is enjoying himself immensely
He is a very cute kid and you can tell already he is going to be handsome like his dad. I mean, he looks like he’s having a ball so whatevs.
GIVE SOMEONE ELSE A CHANCE! LIKE THAT FAMILY DESERVES MORE MONEY
why is it last time theres a backlash at Danielyn when she modelled Guess kids? i think its just normal for kids to model kids stuff.
Yeah, and leave his teeth alone. As someone said, he’s a 10 year old. He’s not going to be sporting veneers! And I’ve seen kids with teeth much worse than his.
I think those “mannequins” are real people. From the article quoted above, the Burberry ‘family’ of models was joined by Romeo this year and they mentioned several names of other models.
The two models in those photos are Edie Cambell and Charlie France, not mannequins.
Anyway, Romeo is cute. He looks like he’s having a lot of fun in those photos instead of just being told to pose a certain way.
Yes, he’s kind of cute like ten million other kids. If his name wasn’t Beckham he wouldn’t be a model for Burberry.
you’re right!!!!
he isnt good looking boy or something special
but he is the son of…
and thats the reason we need to tolerate as well as his parents!
Agree. It seems harsh to comment on a 10 year old’s looks but if he’s making money as a model…..
Romeo is a perfectly cute child but unlike, say, Cindy Crawford’s daughter, he’s nothing special. There’s no way he’d have been picked out of hundreds of child models if he was Joe Bloggs from the council estate. it’s just the usual latching on to a celeb’s name for PR purposes.
He looks like a fake hand puppet. weird.
Is it just me or does this kid’s head look photoshopped onto his body? I’m sure it’s just an odd angle or something but it looks just a little too big and slightly askew.
And what’s with the model with her leg hiked up? It reminds me of an episode of The Office when Michael was trying to be all casual chatting with Jim and put his foot on top of his desk and leaned on his leg. Totally awkward.
No, it’s not just you. The proportions are off, and the picture just looks slightly odd. That weird sideways pose isn’t helping matters.
So many people judging the relative hotness of a ten year old. It’s creepy and I’ve got a sneaking suspicion that if this were a ten year old girl, those same people would be all upset about judging a young girl’s looks, and they’d be lecturing us on body image.
I don’t think he’s model material… Yet.
he’s got victoria’s old teeth..
http://entertainment.ie/photos/Before-They-Were-Famous/2677.htm#!img=27
Don’t worry about the teeth, puberty will change everything lol
So odd to read the comments. I think he’s a beautiful boy. He wears clothes so well (and no, not all boys do!) and his bone structure, profile especially, is lovely. And that quirky smile is what talent agencies look for in young models. He’s perfect for this!
The irony of course being that Burberry once banned VB and David from their brand because they thought they were too chavtastic for it and bringing it into disrepute!!!!
Please, not another celebrity offspring…probably without talent….who gets endorsed just because of the parents.
Although one has to say that he has got charm, unlike his younger sister.
Really? An infant isn’t charming enough for you? Do you realize how awful that makes you sound? Cause it really does.
I don’t think it makes you sound awful at all, Matty. Some people don’t like babies. I personally think she’s pretty cute but just because it’s a tiny human doesn’t mean everyone automatically has to be all gaga over it.
ohh myyy!! he lookss soo happyy!!! i love himm..such a preetyy cute boyy!! hes adorable! i wich we could see broocklyn too
Cute kid, it does seem like he’s having fun with it.
Personally, I wouldn’t want to subject a kid to the sort of scrutiny that comes with modeling, especially if the family is already wealthy and it’s not like they need to build up the college fund. But to each their own.
Ummm.. i think those are just models pretending to be mannequins. And apparently doing a great job at it…
Who is supposed to model children’s clothing if not children? It’s not like he’d be working 12 hour days.
I can’t believe the debate over the ‘mannequins’. They’re clearly people just frozen. Mannequin technology isn’t quite that good yet.
His teeth look like those of any average 10 year olds. And I’ve always thought the younger two boys looked like David, only the oldest resembles Victoria. Though like most kids it changes through the years. Funny to see mum’s original nose on the kiddies.
Kids of celebrities are already scrutinized.Everyday I read vile comments about kids of celebrities on various gossip sites. This one is ugly, this one is fat, this one has nappy hair….If you go to celebrity baby websites. It’s quite common. So his modeling gig is not really a game changer. There have been negative comments about all the boys for years comparing them David.I’m sure they never see the comments .
R.Beckham wouldn’t have been chosen without his name. Another kid, maybe more good-looking, maybe more hard-working would have taken his place. I hate nepotism (and yes, I hate it all the same when it’s Lola Leon, the Smith’s or the Jolie-Pitt’s children).
Also, what did they do with this photo: I have the feeling they put his head on another boy’s body. What’s that for?
Love the impish grin. He looks like he is farting in the first photo, as the mannequins look away in disdain.
I wish celebs would stop pimping out their kids. It’s not like they need the money, or the poor kid won’t be able to afford college (or even a ski trip) without the job.
Don’t they realize what the industry does to people’s psyche? Victoria has a freaking eating disorder, to the point where she’s lost a LOT of hair to malnutrition. And she’s mad multiple plastic surgeries because she just ins’t beautiful enough (in her mind). And she wants to pimp her kids out to THAT industry?
Sad.
GMAB about nepotism.I got my first job at my uncle’s store.I guess noone here has gotten a job with the help of a family member. Most of us get jobs because of who we know and what we know. For the people complaining about the evil fashion industry .I guess you have never purchased a magazine with models in it or shopped from a catalog with models in it.If you have you are financially supportive
After living in a fishbowl with media, photographer’s etc… why would they want to expose their child further?
Because he wants to be a model? Im sure they discussed the pros and cons
And I’m sure they did NOT. Victoria clearly has an eating disorder, to the point where she’s lost hair due to malnutrition. And her self-esteem issues should have been address via therapy, not plastic surgery. I have ZERO confidence that this is a mother who can fairly and objectively evaluate whether her kids can “handle” the modeling profession. It’s just another way to feed her own ego, which apparently is very fragile.
I wasn’t not gonna comment on a kid since he is young but he is here for money making reasons so i will say this…
He is cute kid but has victoria mouth and teeth and that is not a modle type of look really. I don’t think it can get fixed with only braces. That is one of the reasons she probably won’t smile. It looks so cheesy grin than smile . But I do prefer it than whatever is that stone face she is showing all the time. look. I think she will sell more dresses if she smile.
Don’t shoot me, but I’m going to go with too creepy looking.
Cute, all the way. He puts life into this brand. I don’t see Burberry boring anymore.
Good thing his parents are famous.
That is one ugly kid.
Come on. “Haters gonna hate” is one thing, but at least *try* to keep it in the realm of reality, eh?
He looks more like Christian Rinaldo here, oddly enough.
Wow.. some of you are really mean. Criticizing a 10 yr old over his teeth– what did you look like when you were that age?
I think the whole thing is ridiculous. Not surprising, given that Posh is his Mum. JMO.
He looks like Justin Bieber, pre-braces. And I don’t know if it’s hereditary or an awkward camera angle/pose, but his head appears disproportionate to his body…
Is the woman supposed to be naked under that trench coat? This has such a creepy vibe.
His head looks way too big for his body.
Your criticism of this 10 year old’s body somehow does not constitute bullying.. right?
The sad reality is that modeling is all about PHYSICAL APPEARANCE. That’s why it’s sad when parents push their kids into that type of business (acting and other types of showbusiness too). Victoria herself cannot deal with it, and she’s a freaking’ adult! She was driven to starve herself and butcher her face to chase the illusion of physical perfection. Yet she thinks her kids can handle it?
I understand what you are saying, but it doesn’t make it right for us to sit here are judge the way a little boy looks…and criticize how his head is too big and his teeth are not straight enough. I don’t think that his parents are trying to turn him into a professional model either. They are friends with Christopher Bailey and it probably seemed like a fun thing for him to be a part of. Also it seems to me as though most of the backlash has more to do with the way the people feel about his parents, rather than Romeo himself. Yes, modelling is about looks, but that alone should not give people the license to be mean toward someone his age…
where is the style … just cause he is beck/vick son doesnt make him stylish … looks like an idiot to me.
