Cindy Crawford’s 10-year-old daughter, Kaia, gets a Versace campaign: way too young?

I’ve always secretly longed for the days when supermodels weren’t entirely emaciated and preparing for runway shows by exclusively ingesting consecutive weeks of protein shakes. So in other words, I really miss the decades when Cindy Crawford was a successful, big-time runway model. Of course, Cindy is now 45 and has, sadly, resigned herself to a face full of botox and fillers when in actuality she’d probably look far better without all of that fakery. Such a shame. At any rate, Cindy is now preparing to pass the torch to her daughter, 10-year-old Kaia Gerber (her father is Cindy’s husband, Randy, heir to the Gerber fortune), who has just completed her very first advertising campaign for Young Versace (see preview above).

Initially, I hesitated before covering this story since someone eloquently labelled me as “old” after I questioned whether Dakota Fanning was too young to pose on the cover of Cosmo alongside headlines such as “His Best Sex Ever” and “Um, Vagina, Are You Okay Down There?” at the relatively tender age of 17. Yes, I am a 36-year-old woman. Is that so shameful?

At any rate, Kaia is much younger than Dakota and perhaps obscenely young for the world of modelling. Hell, Kaia is even younger than 13-year old Lottie Moss (sister of Kate), who recently appeared in her very first Storm Management portfolio. However, I question whether it is inevitable whether gorgeous Kaia would eventually become a model anyway, so — let’s face it — what’s the big deal?

Like mother, like daughter!

Kaia Gerber, Cindy Crawford’s 10-year-old daughter, has landed her first fashion campaign — and it’s none other than Versace.

Kaia is the first face of Young Versace, the designer’s children’s line geared at kids 0-12. The modeling gig is extra special given the fact that Cindy was a well-known muse of Gianni Versace.

“Like her mother, Kaia has a very special gift. The camera really, really loves her,” Donatella Versace, Creative Director of Versace, said. “Having Cindy on-set for the shoot took me back to all the amazing Avedon shoots we worked on together. It was such a special treat watching Kaia walk in her mother’s footsteps!”

Judging from the first photo to release, Kaia is a natural in front of the camera rocking a cropped leather jacket and a high-waist skirt and she even manages to make socks and sandals look good together!

[From Yahoo!]

Speaking as a mother, this is a really tough call to make. My first instinct is to question whether Cindy is jumping the gun by tossing her 10-year-old daughter into the modeling ring, but it’s quite clear that Cindy is also present on the shoot to make sure that nothing inappropriate goes down. Obviously, Cindy knows the drill, and she knows that photographers will often try to make their subjects do inappropriate things just because they can. In other words, Kaia will probably never be photographed by Terry Richardson. I feel like Cindy knows best in this regard and will safeguard her daughter at least until the age of majority or emancipation.

However, my real question is this — does the outfit represented (and worn by Kaia) in the header photograph accurely represent the stated 0-12 audience? No preteen that I’ve ever known would ever be allowed to wear a skirt that short.

Here’s Cindy, her husband Randy Gerber, and Kaia shopping in Malibu on 12/4/11. In these photos especially, Kaia looks so much like her mother.

And here are Cindy, Rande, and Kaia in Cabo, Mexico on 11/27/11. This was one of the vacations in which Cindy met up with with George Clooney and Stacy Keibler. With these photos in mind, I do not look forward to the day that my daughter asks to wear a bikini.

So, how many ten year olds wear Versace?

    • Madison says:

I imagine there would be quite a lot. The kids whose parents are celebrities or whose parents are rich would buy those clothes for their children.

Cindy’s daughter’s ok but it’s the son whose better looking. She’s not too young to model and I’m sure her mother goes with her to the modelling jobs.

      • OriginalTiffany says:

I just spent a couple of days shopping at Harrod’s and Selfridge’s in London and they have a kid’s section in every designer with plenty of Gucci and Versace and Prada flying out of there.
Not with me, but the rich folk:)

  2. outofafrica says:

Donatella’s face will scare her away from fashion

  3. Kaye1 says:

My 10 year old daughter would wear a skirt that was a few inches longer than that with leggings. That’s what the girls do around here (Midwest).

Cindy is constantly marketing herself so it doesn’t surprise me that she wants her daughter to model. Frankly, she disgusts me.

    • KWM says:

ITA! Tired of celebs pimping out their kids.

      • constance says:

        Agreed!

Go have an ice cream, scuff your knees chasing boys after your middle school football game, and get the hell off my fashions ads. I don’t have, nor want, the body of an 11 yr old, nor the clothes that only look good on an adolescent.

Would I bother buying these for my kids? Shoes and sandals?! Ha! No way! I can find better outfits at stores not trying to sell my kids sexy poses in short shirts without leggings.

    • Amea says:

It’s not just your daughter or girls in the midwest, Kaye–look at what Kaia wears on a normal day. Tunic…WITH LEGGINGS. AKA NORMAL 10-YEAR-OLD ATTIRE. Like Bedhead said, is this campaign REALLY for 12 year old kids and younger?

    • NM9005 says:

Yes, the lack of leggings and the suggestive lighting makes it even more weird. She really likes a lot older than 10 in this photo.

I know children want to grow up fast but once you’re grown up you really want to have more in life than just be a public figure surrounded by apologetic yes-people. That can’t be healthy. That isn’t going to create an interesting personality. Seeing how light Crawford is going on about this issue, is even more alarming since Kaia will never be able to turn to her mother for rational advice.

      • phlyfiremama says:

Not only does she look young adult-ish in that WAY too short skirt, she is also putting her hands on where her boobs would be if she had any yet. Overall, this is disturbing and disgusting. Objectifying CHILDREN as sexual objects~and lets face it, this is exactly what this ad does~is truly degenerate. Is this what our culture has led us to? What message, exactly, do we expect our young & preteen women to derive from this?

  4. Asli says:

Whoever called you old needs help. 36 is NOT OLD!!!!And 17 IS too young for Cosmo.

Also, what is soooo wrong with letting celebrity children grow up at normal rates instead of competing whether who has the most talented kid. The Smiths, Lourdes etc. That skirt is one hard wind from exposing her hoo-ha… Gross. She’s 11, for Gods sake!

    • RocketMerry says:

      I agree.
Also, this kind of stuff stands out when it regards celebrities and their kids, but in the real modeling world it’s perfectly normal to sexualize and deprive 11-12 y.o. kids of their innocent body images. Someone should stop this.
Furthermore, to market a product to women in their 20s editors now use girls that are 14-15 y.o. : that is not only morally disgusting, but also produces very unhealthy expectations towards adult bodies.

      • autumndaze says:

This little girl just turned 10, TEN, in September.
        Way too young…

      • RocketMerry says:

AutumnDaze, I totally agree, it’s way too young for ANY child. Cindy should know better than this; especially since she could do something about it, speak out and campaign against child modeling or something.

    • Zelda says:

I find it hard to believe that anyone OVER the age of 17 would find the dumbed-down idiocy that is Cosmo interesting…

    • for real? says:

i think a lot of ppl had an issue with the cosmo cover, Cosmo ended up changing the stories on the cover so it seemed more age appropriate. ( i dont agree with that cosmo is a trash mag and they should not have to change, Dk should have never been on the cover in he first place)

      • Chrissy says:

I saw the Cosmo with Dakota on it in the store two days ago and they did not change any of those cover lines.

    • Sapphire says:

ITA on all points. And Crawford knows all about the pitfalls of modeling.

BTW, I am 53, have no wrinkles and don’t need fillers or botox. I am not even overweight. So screw the negative comments on aging. It’s all about the ‘tude.

  5. Megalicious says:

Wow isn’t she a chip off the old block

    • brin says:

I know….she looks just like Cindy!

    • Zigggy says:

Yes, she is so beautiful- but I don’t get why Cindy would want her to model at the impressionable age of 10 and get into a world that’s well known for eating disorders and drug use.

      • autumndaze says:

Agreed. Too much danger to a young soul and Cindy should know better.
The other thing is, Cindy was actually aiming for a Chemical Engineering major in college at one time.(Truly bright woman; not like the untrue rumors of Will Smith’s college ambitions, etc.)
These Crawford-Gerber celebrity kids are those whose parents should have valued education above fame. Or so I thought…

      • Coucou says:

I’ll tell you why, Ziggy – EGO. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, so it’s only natural that Cindy wants her little apple to get out there and shine, make her still look good despite her advanced age in model-years, and be an extension of her beauty and superior genes. It’s just like Beckham, he’s gonna want to see how his boys do on the field, well, Cindy’s no different, she wants to see what her girl can do on the cat walk. No mystery there!

    • Original Bee says:

Kaia does look a lot like her mother. However, Cindy’s son looks even more like her. He could be Cindy’s clone, and he’s prettier than his sister. I wonder if he’ll eventually get some kind of modeling contract as well.

  6. Gwen says:

    She’s too young IMO.

  7. Kel says:

I would think that as long as her mom is at all the photo shoots that it is ok. Like you said, she knows what it’s all about. She looks older than 11 but these days, most kids do look and act older. She is a beautiful little girl.

  8. whatthehell456 says:

Ok, I’m only 30 and I feel this girl is too young to be modeling these kinds of fashions. What in hell’s bathroom is her mother thinking??? Oh, wait, it’s Cindy Crawford….nevermind. At least wait until she’s about 15-16 before sticking her in front of the camera.
And I can hear it now : “but she wants to do it, she likes it, she wants to be a model”
SHE’S 11. She has no idea what she wants, or what’s best for her at this point in her life…this is where her mom’s supposed to step in and be the voice of reason….but again, Cindy Crawford.Ugh.

    • HAHAHA says:

You say you are “only 30” comparing yourself to a 36 yrs old!!! LOL!!! Tomato Tomatoe… just saying…

  9. paola says:

No wait! Haven’t we had enough of people wearing sandals with socks?! Now Versace please you’re just making thing worse, you just made it legal!!!

  10. samira677 says:

Pickup any Sunday circular from Target or Sears and there are kids posing. I’m not bothered by her age but that her parents are famous. I think she’s too young for the attention.

    • dweep says:

I was thinking exactly the same thing. There are child models everywhere who model clothes for children. I have no problem with that.

But since her parents are famous it rings some bells. I think her parents will try to keep her grounded though. I don’t think Cindy is a famewhore that would pimp out her kids.

  11. jc126 says:

    Too young.

  12. Sue says:

    Cha – Ching!!!!

I think some of these celebs see their kids as little money makers….

    lohans, kardashians, etc….

  13. BoBo says:

She is a beautiful little girl, but I am surprised knowing how harsh the modeling business is Cindy didn’t hold her daughter off a few years and give her a childhood. It is not like they need the money.

    • Blue says:

Exactly what I don’t understand. These models, actors, celebrities know what goes on behind the scene, yet subject their kids to it. I guess they think they’re kids will get special treatment. But I’m sure there are thig that go on that I wouldn’t want my 11 year old seeing. Guess she is planning on being with her daughter 24/7

  14. bea says:

She really looks like her mom!

Never mind her age – who agreed to let her wear socks and sandals?!

    • paola says:

exactly my point!! haven’t we had enough of people wearing it everuwhere??? noe Versace had just made it fashionable which is f-ing not!

  15. Intercontinental says:

Well now, we would never have though CC would move into Mama Pimp Kartrashian territory. We thought she of all famous mothers would be above that but, the proof is there for all to see, whether she is on set or not!!

There is a monumental argument here for whether minors (<16) should model or not. We're for the not!

  16. Minty says:

Umm, no, Bedhead. Rande Gerber is not the heir to the Gerber fortune, if you are referring to the company that manufactures Gerber baby products. He is not related to that family. A former model, he is a self-made man who owns and operates a chain of lounges and bars.

Cindy’s daughter is cute, but it’s the son who has inherited her looks. I remember reading that Richard Gere, Cindy’s first husband, complained about her willingness to shill products. She grew up poor, so she doesn’t seem to have a problem being the spokesmodel for fur coats, credit cards, furniture, cars, whatever — if her employer pays well. I guess it’s no different if one of her kids is getting paid this time. But I am really tired of the children of celebrities getting modeling or acting jobs over talented unknowns, mainly because of a famous parent and not because they demonstrated exceptional ability (Rumer Willis, Kelly Osbourne, Lily Collins, Georgia Jagger).

    • Minty says:

One more thing — the fashion industry is extremely exploitative. Anyone curious should read Model: The Ugly Business Of Beautiful Women by Michael Gross. Predatory photographers, pimp agents, and other manipulative types are commonplace (similar to Hollywood). The industry treats even its top models like pieces of meat. An A-List actress has far more autonomy. They use 13-year-old girls to advertise clothes made for grown women. They have no problem sexualizing children in photographs. It’s too bad Cindy doesn’t strongly encourage young Kaia to pursue something else.

The supermodels of Cindy’s time won’t ever return because designers and editors won’t allow it. The 1990s models received too much attention (overshadowed the clothes) and had too much power (could charge the highest fees and book their own jobs) in their eyes, so, over the years the fashion people in charge have made damn sure models have minimal influence in the industry.

    • Kimbob says:

Oh, no doubt @Minty! I mean, seriously…whoever thought that sticking a camera in front of the Willis/Moore (Potato Head) brood were pandering to Bruce & Demi. Those girls put the ugh in ugly.

      • Minty says:

Yup, shameless and obnoxious nepotism is alive and well in Hollywood. Miss Potato Head would be completely anonymous if she didn’t have famous parents.

    • Jeannified says:

Minty, thank you for saying that. (No one else did.) The SON is the one who inherited the looks. Cindy’s daughter is cute, but she’s not Cindy. Also, the bikini pictures show that she has an odd body shape. Sorry if anyone’s offended, but it’s true!

Now Kaia could grow into a true beauty, but I just don’t see it here. And those socks with sandals…ugh! That ruins the whole outfit for me! Gross!

  17. Umlaut says:

Eh, she’s modeling kids clothes. Don’t really get the issue. I’m not a big fan of children in show business, but this is better to me than some mom pimping out her kids in beauty pageants in the hopes of winning $500.

That purple bikini, on the other hand? Absolutely not, young lady. Go put some clothes on.

  18. fabgrrl says:

When I first saw the picture, I thought the girl was wearing culottes or a skort, which seems age appropriate. But a skirt that short?!?! on an 11 year old?!?! Hellz no!

Lovely girl, though. Looks like her mom.

  19. Franny says:

I’m not allowing any daughter of mine to wear a bikini until at least…15? 16? I think its so bizarre to see little girls (starting as babies) in string bikinis. Gross.

And I’m 24 so its not like I’m old either…

    • Lithe says:

String bikinis are one thing, but I can tell you that 2-piece swimsuits make urgent bathroom breaks easier to deal with with kids who are potty training.

      • fabgrrl says:

True! And even young kids who are fully potty trained often wait until the last minute to go to the bathroom. Getting out of a wet swimsuit can take much longer than they have.

      • Day says:

There are other type of swimwear besides one pieces and bikini’s. The only kind I was ever allowed to wear were tankinis with the matching boy shorts. I wasn’t allowed to wear a bikini until I was 16.

    • Happy21 says:

I don’t like little girls in bikinis either. I only ever wore one pieces until I reached 14 and my mum let me have my first string bikini. Even still I was almost embarassed to show that much of myself.

And really string bikinis are meant for women with boobs and most 10 year olds don’t even have anything to fill it out. I’m sure there is a more flattering fit for a child.

Cindy Crawford is a pimp now just like Dina Lohan and Kris Kardashian. How sad.

  20. Zelda says:

Ah, I don’t doubt that the kid loves to do it. Crawford’s hardly at Kardashian levels of whoring, here. If she wants to do a modelling campaign or two, and it doesn’t interfere with school etc., then I really don’t see the big deal. Crawford knows the ins and outs, so she won’t be taken advantage of, and I imagine doing this occasionally is all quite fun for a tween.

  21. hairball says:

First, at what age is a woman considered ‘old’ and thus her ideas irrelevant and dismissable? After the age of 28, 30, 36..?

It’s a pretty dangerous ‘rule’ that women not only allow to stand but are the ones who sadly set it themselves and eagerly enforce – only setting the stage for their own discrimination later on.

To only allow a small segment of the population to be heard…?

I’ve said a million times before, so disgusted by these celebrity parents and their shallow off-spring. Good job Cindy in showing your 11 year old daughter that her looks are what matter the most.

    Age 11?? Disgusting and sad.

    • Lairen says:

First, at what age is a woman considered ‘old’ and thus her ideas irrelevant and dismissable? After the age of 28, 30, 36..?

Well said! Somebody’s opinions should NOT be discounted due to age! And 36 is far from ‘old.’ I’m 26 and I know that! You’re still a youngun bedhead try not to worry about it 🙂

  22. I.want.shoes says:

I think it is sad when we educate our girls to believe that looks are someone’s most valuable assets in life.

Call me old-fashioned but if I had an 11 year old girl with those looks, I would be praising her big brain and other talents instead.

  23. Bonfire Beach says:

OK, so who is supposed to be modeling clothes for kids? Aren’t babies in clothing ads? She’s not indecent – her bits are covered. Who should be modeling children’s clothing – adults? Shut down the baby Gap website!

  24. chloe w says:

Am i the only one here that thinks if she wasn’t CC’s daughter she’d never get this job?

her eyes are waaaayyyy to close set and funky, she’s a cute little girl, but NOT model material

    • Happy21 says:

I was gonna ask who Cindy had to blow to get her daughter this gig because at this point this girl does not look like she could ever be a model. Of course, she may grow into her features as she ages…

Just like Ali Lohan did 😉

      Hahahahahahahahahah!!!!

  25. Dawn says:

Yesterday she was 10, today she is 11? Either way she is still too damn young.

  26. whatevs says:

her parents are just plain dumb.

  27. Leticia says:

I think the little girl looks like her father, not like Crawford. She is cute, but no cuter than other cute girls.

  28. Umm..no says:

“her father is Cindy’s husband, Randy”

Umm…hate to break this to you but it’s RandE with an E not a Y…

  29. bettyrose says:

She’s too young AND it’s insane to portray an 11 year old physique as in any way the ideal.

  30. ladybert62 says:

    (1) No one who wears boots with a tassel should be allowed to model anything.

    (2) She is not very pretty.

    (3) Ten years old is too young.

  31. GiGi says:

Oh! I’m sooo glad you covered this!

Cindy has been grooming this girl for a long time. Does anyone remember the photos that “leaked” when she was 6 or so and was really, really done up and posing quite beyond her years? Cindy has issues.

I was 5’7″ at 11 years old and began modeling then. I begged my mother to let me do it. And she did. But it is a crappy life and you have to have thick skin and the money really doesn’t make up for the rejection and isolation that can come along with this sort of career.

As a mother I’d be very hesitant to let my girls do this. Because it IS work. I’ll say that til the day I die – if acting is work for the adults how is it not supposed to be work for child actors?

    • ol cranky says:

I’m guessing that, with her mom’s celebrity and pull, young Miss Gerber will not need the thick skin to deal with too much rejection like people who don;’t have uber famous parents to pimp them out and make them celebrities.

Of course I don’t see this ad as really being directed to children or looking like an ad for kid’s clothing. I agree that it does look like an adult ad but then, what do I know, I’m ancient in this new world where models will be over the hill at 20

  32. Cirque28 says:

36 is too old to have an opinion on Dakota Fanning’s Cosmo cover? Ridiculous. There’s nothing shameful about that age or any other. My grandmother is 90 and she will dish out a polite but withering response to anyone who dares dismiss her on the basis of age or anything else. With a little time, I’m sure we can all master it!

  33. Flea says:

I would have been totally creeped out if my dad would have had his hand on my midsection like that while I was in a bikini at that age, or any age. I know some families are just more comfortable being so handsy though.

  34. foozy says:

a ten yr old dressed like that?!!!!!!! what were they thinking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  35. Beatrix says:

nepotism. few things irk me more than nepotism

  36. kay says:

She is wearing more appropriate clothing than Lily-Rose does just to go shopping.

As long as her mom is with her, why not? Kids model all the time, and much better this than Willow trying to sing and dance or whatever it is she does.

My daughter, who is also 10, wears a tankini. If I knew she was being photographed by paps, I would cover her up or go inside.

  37. lucy2 says:

I would not allow it. She’s way too young to be in that kind of spotlight, and there’s no need for it.

  38. WOM says:

I’ll add my name to the chorus of people saying Kaia is too young for those clothes and this level of professional scrutiny. I also wish that the kids of celebrities were allowed to grow up anonymously and slowly.

Furthermore, there is no way I’d let my 10 yo wear a bikini that small when the paparazzi AND George Clooney are close at hand.

  39. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

While I think a bikini on a roly-poly little baby body at the age where she has more rolls in her thighs than teeth is adorable, that purple number gives me the creeps.

  40. hazeldazel says:

    1. no kid of mine would be leaving the house with a skirt that short unless pants were under it.

    2. uh… why is she holding her boobs? o.0

    3. um… socks with sandals, really?

  41. SamiHami says:

#1 36 is far from old. I’m 47 and still young, so no way can 36 be old!

#2 Modeling has been good to Cindy, so I can sort of understand why she would see it as a good choice for her daughter. And let’s face it-she is a beautiful girl, much more so than other celeb kids.

Being a model at a young age doesn’t automatically doom a child. Look at Brooke Shields. She started modeling at 11 months of age and at 10 or so did “Pretty Baby” (for you youngsters out there, rent it and you’ll see why there was so much outrage. Brooke plays a 10 year old prostitute who’s virginity is auctioned off to the highest bidder). Yet she turned out to be a very level headed person-with absolutely no scandals. She managed to be a succesful child model/actress without turning into a Kartrashian-type.

I think it depends on how grounded you are and who you have looking out for you. Shields had the stage mother from hell, but she did a great job of protecting her from much of the ugly side of modeling. If CC manages to do that for her daughter then I see no issue with it. But that’s a big IF.

  42. Alexis says:

Why do they want to have models who literally haven’t hit puberty? I think this is a way to get ever-skinner models without having the models starve themselves.

But what about the consumers? Good grief. Stop selling me clothes on kids.

    • Jolene says:

It’s completely true — 14-16 year old girls are ideal for modeling because their faces have matured, they typically have boobs, but their hips haven’t really developed yet. The only way you can be that thin with boobs is to either be that age or get implants.

      It’s sad.

  43. ocean says:

    disgusting.

  44. truthful says:

First, Dakota Fanning looked inappropriate on cosmo, a mag that will give you “how to instructions” on giving the perfect BJ..NO she did not need to be on that magazine.

Second, this lil girl is too young
Third, 36 is not old and I take offense to that. when I was in my 20’s I never would call or even think someone was old, its brash and ignorant.

again, this lil chick is too young.

  45. Granger says:

Kids of famous people must have very strange notions about what the term “hard work” actually means. When you can be or do anything you want at the tender age of 11, just because your mother can snap her fingers and make it so, what is there to work toward? Frankly, I’d be more worried about my daughter’s ability to find happiness, satisfaction and self-esteem through her own sweat and experiences, than I would about her exposure to the fashion industry.

  46. Feebee says:

The clothing line is for children. What age should be modelling for it? It’s hardly a full time gig for her and I’m going with Cindy knowing what’s up.

A 10 year old modelling children’s clothing is preferable to me than 27 year olds playing high school kids on TV giving actual HS kids a complex on body images because a 20-something body is so much better than a teen one.

I thought the headlines around Dakota were borderline in taste. Even for Cosmo. But isn’t Cosmo where a lot of 17 year olds get their ‘info’? 🙂 Still if a mag has “adult” content then any and all models used should be of age. Though I’m from a place where age of consent is 16 and it still seemed grubby.

    • Lucy says:

I would agree with you, if it actually looked like she was modelling childrens clothes…but in this ad she is dolled up to look older than 10 years old…there is something about it, something a little too sexy and inappropriate…I have seen child models in ads…they look like cute kids wearing cute clothes…this is…something different…

  47. Violet says:

    Kai is way too young.

Worse, what does it say about us as a culture that we would accept a 10-year-old CHILD as the golden standard of beauty for WOMEN?

It’s ridiculous that we’re supposed to look like prepubescent girls (skinny, hairless bodies and not a single wrinkle on our faces) except with generous breasts. As a result, most women end up hating their bodies and going to extremes to conform to the ideal. (Look at Cameron Diaz and Kate Hudson getting implants after claiming for years to be comfortable with having small breasts. Or 20-somethings getting Botox.)

It’s a sick situation all around. Personally, I refuse to buy fashion magazines because I don’t want to support this craziness in any way.

  48. gamblea says:

I don’t mind that she’s 10 years old but I do mind that they photoshopped her into obsenity. The right leg (bent leg) is just awkward and how will the photoshopping affect her personal self.

  49. Lisa says:

Eh, I had modelling offers at 10. I was too short to take them, and not even really interested in it, but the offer was there. If I were Cindy’s daughter, I probably would have snapped it up.

At least this shoot is age appropriate. Unlike Thylane with the bedroom eyes… That was creepy.

  50. NM9005 says:

Yeah, considering Crawford let Kaia pose at SIX year old in a seductive pose with a tramp stamp WITHOUT a top, I’m not going to trust her judgement.

    http://celebritybabyscoop.com/%3Fp%3D289

Imo, that’s much worse than a teenager like Lily-Rose who wears a top when it’s warm and not for a photoshoot. Seriously, if people find that sexy, I question their intentions more than a young girls’. Or are we going to judge girls with bikini’s too? Only pervs would think nasty thoughts with such innocent behaviour.

Furthermore, I would like to point out that Kaia has plenty of time becoming a model considering she obviously is blessed with good genes and she will have the connections so I see no point at giving her what she wants: an adult career. Childhood passes by so fast, why not let them enjoy these times where you can make mistakes and discover yourself instead of being coached by moneygrubbing, superficial doucheb*gs? I find it alarming that people find ways to defend a a child that wants an adult career. I mean, since when do children comprehend the repercussions of stepping into a world like that? If it was a regular job like cleaning, you wouldn’t want your child to it, or would you? If it’s just because you want to gloat about your beautiful daughter making lots of money than shame on people =(. It’s stories like these that make me scared of what the world will look like in 10 years and it’s the same thing that prohibits me to even think about putting a child onto this crazy f* world.

    Rant over :).

  51. Kim says:

Disgustingly young! Shame on her mother! Plus lets be honest this is nepotism at its finest – she isnt a very pretty little girl.

  52. Penguin says:

I’m 28 and got called old the other day. It’s pathetic and upsetting, but there are a lot of men who think women over 25 are old. One of my friends has invited me out clubbing but I feel too self conscious to go, worried it’ll be full full of 18 yr olds and I’ll just look stupid.

  53. Poppy says:

Let’s not forget Cindy started pimping her daughter out when she was 6yrs old, she was thrown into the mix at an adult swimwear show where Kaia walked down the runway in a bikini at Diana Jenkins swimwear company launch. Cindy got a lot of flack for that and it’s taken 4yrs for the poppet to model again.

……and Kaia has been photoshopped in that picture WTF!

  54. ummm….sorry, but she is not that pretty. I mean, she is a pretty little girl, but Versace pretty?!@#$%? Are you kidding??? Not by a long shot…get real.

  55. BELLA says:

Sorry the only thing she has is her mom`s name….we will see in and out of
trouble ,court, ect. Like a Lohan!

  56. Embee says:

She’s a child modeling children’s clothing. If the target demographic for the clothes is 0-12 and she is 10 then she is entirely appropriate.

Both her parents were models. It’s the family business. And mom was on set to supervise.

    I don’t understand the hysteria.

    • Snowflake says:

I don’t understand it either. there are models for kid’s clothing. and she’s not holding her boobs, she has her hands in her jacket pockets. her hands would be up higher if she were holding her boobs, her hands are barely above her waist. plus her mom has exp in the business so she knows the ins and outs and can help her.

  57. shawn says:

Only child models can model children’s clothing. I don’t have a problem with child models per se. I’m sure Crawford is being very cautious, as she was in the business for a long time and knows what goes on. That said, I do think that skirt is too short for a ten year old girl to wear except perhaps as part of a cheerleading, skating, gymnastics, etc. type of outfit. Context matters with clothes. A skirt that short intended for street wear is not appropriate for a pre-teen girl.

  58. TheOriginalVictoria says:

I know I sound douchey but she is a slightly underwhelming version of her mother. Now that son looks like he was dipped in god dust. I mean his hair, face and what not is so gorg he got the perfect combo from the rents.

I think the advert is approriate for rich bitch kiddies. It’s hideous which makes it just right.

  59. Ally says:

Reminds me of when Brooke Shields started modeling at a young age.

  60. JuJuBee says:

Child models are nothing new. I think most people have a problem with the nepotism behind this. Kaia landed a huge modeling gig based solely on who her mother is. Cindy is no better than any other stage parent.

  61. Andrea says:

I think it’s mean that people are judging her looks comparing her to her mother. I just looked up a pic of Cindy when she was in her teens and she was hardly as attractive as Kaia. The kid has good genes.

  62. ZenB!tch says:

Who is young Versace targeted at? It’s kind of fugly for a 10 year old. I have no problem with Kaia modeling. She’s covered. I have a bigger problem with those clothes being for 10 year olds.

  63. kimberly says:

unless the versace line is a kids line then yes she’s too young to be whored out for fashion mags.

Not that I’m surprised a former supermodel, who happens to be losing her pretty face is okay with this.

you know everyone thinks it’s all cute that they dress their kids like mini versions of grown ups (flashback to the early 00’s – gross.) Anyone remember A&F selling thongs to 6 year olds? TOTALLY GROSS.

  64. Feebee says:

Wow, the concerns over nepotism and photoshopping and a short skirt just fade into the background when the most harmful thing to this child are comments of she’s not even that pretty.

She’s 10. And obviously we don’t need a male dominated advertising media to proliferate female self esteem problems.

  65. dahlia says:

Why bother with an education and school degrees ? Seriously, let the girl learn to read before ruining her skin with pancake makeup. And I’m 26, I also think the whole Lolita trend is crap.

  66. Meanchick says:

Um, let’s see, where do I start? 10 is too young. Let her be a kid a bit longer. The Versace ad? Perhaps sends the wrong message to kids. The bikini? WRONG!! I would never have allowed my daughter (at 10 yrs) to wear a bikini! What’s wrong with these celebs who want their kids to grow up so fast?! Also, I have to say it; she’s not ‘model’ cute. She should be in a freakin’ Brownies uniform somewhere!

  67. J Katz says:

She’s a pretty girl but her brother is the real beauty of the family. He looks just like his mom.

  68. Amanda says:

Pretty girl, but too young to be modeling, unless it’s for Gap Kids or something.

  69. Stephanie says:

IMO, she is not model material. You can find prettier girls at a local school. Plus, that outfit is ridiculous.

  70. Jenny says:

In that first photo – are those seriously black socks with sandals? I can’t even. So ugly.
