Coco Austin claims she only gained 13 pounds while pregnant with baby Chanel

A photo posted by Coco (@coco) on

Coco Austin and Ice-T welcomed baby Chanel Nicole Marrow into the world more than a week ago. Coco’s pregnancy flew by, mostly because she didn’t announce it until she was well into her second trimester… plus she barely had a bump. Like, at all. She was nine months pregnant and she looked like she was carrying a pasta baby. Well, Coco posted the before-and-after photos of her body and she claims she only gained 13 pounds during her pregnancy. Do you believe her? Here’s what she wrote:

1 week post baby ..the left was me at 36 weeks ( I had Chanel at 37 weeks) I was basically in shape before I got pregnant but during pregnancy I stopped my workout regimen at 4 months preggers and pretty much became a fruitarian after that lol..No not really, I ate other foods of course but craved fruit. I lost 10 pounds before I even started to gain baby weight probably because 1- I stopped drinking alcohol. 2 – I stopped weight lifting and lost a lot of muscle and 3- I ate really healthy and took my vitamins everyday.(I’m gonna post my whole routine soon on my baby blog www.thecocoblog.com).

I gained 13 pounds my whole pregnancy and now I way almost back to norm at 137 pounds. All this is strange to me too, how my body took so well with pregnancy because I was mentally prepared to blow up like a whale and I was totally cool with it I really could have cared less how my body looked it didn’t matter to me..I couldn’t wait to get a bump and rock it! ..I would’ve gone through anything to make a healthy baby ..I had the heavens really watching over me and know everyday how blessed I am.. I believe anybody could too go through a wonderful experience and thats why I made a baby blog so people could know the steps I took..I hope to bring inspiration

You know what? I actually believe her. I think she lost muscle weight, and I think people are always surprised by how much weight they can lose by cutting out alcohol. Plus, it does sound like she was eating healthy and taking care of herself. Considering Chanel Nicole weighed 5 pounds 7 ounces when she was born, that means Coco only gained 7 pounds of actual non-baby weight? Ridiculous.

Meanwhile, Coco has been criticized for posting so many photos of Baby Chanel on social media. They even got Chanel her own Instagram, because of course. My thoughts? One, let Coco be a new mom! She’s so happy and in love with her baby, just let her enjoy it and show off her baby. Two, what did you expect? This is Coco we’re talking about.

The cutest baby! But 13 pounds? That doesn’t sound very healthy for her baby.

    • Brunswickstoval says:

I gained 15 pounds in my first pregnancy. I was very fit and ate very well. It is possible.

      • PinaColada says:

+1. I gained 16 with one, 18 with the other. I exercised moderately and ate crazy healthy. I never ever went hungry. It’s just what my body did, and I had healthy babies, not underweight.

      • Leahpet says:

Gained only 20 lbs with my 2nd son,
who weighed almost 10. I started out as a big gal, but I followed a diabetic diet, due to gestational diabetes in my 1st pregnancy.

Didn’t exercise per se, but walked and chased our 2 yo everywhere.

      • LAR says:

Yes, I also had to follow the gestational diabetes diet and only put on about 16 lbs. The baby just takes from you.

      • Tiffany :) says:

It isn’t the weight gain that I question…but doesn’t it take weeks for a woman’s uterus to shrink back into the normal size?

      • Camille says:

I’m presently 7 months and have not gained any. I will say that I am a bigger girl (6’3 and slightly fluffy). I believe my weight has been redistributed. I only gained 8 with my first. So it’s very possible.

      • Stephanie says:

Me too about the gestational diabetes and gaining 16oz lbs!

      • SKF says:

Hey Tiffany, every woman is different. My mother barely looked pregnant, just bustier, and walked out of hospital the day after having me (her second child) in the same tiny jeans she wore before she was pregnant. My girlfriend took a photo 3 days after giving birth and she was tiny. Some people snap back super fast, for others it takes longer. Even the same body will recover in different ways after different pregnancies. So while a lot of the time the uterus will take time to go down, that is not always the case.

    • Yoohoo says:

I’m going to go conspiracy theory and say she used a surrogate. In the picture of her pregnant with her bare stomach out in front of her bathtub the brown edge of the tub is clearly photo shopped right behind her back. You can see the edge is straight all around the tub and between her back and arm there’s a tiny straight edge and then it curves in suddenly. I’ll try to find a link.

I just realized it’s the picture at the top of the article on the left. Look at the edge of thr tub between her arm and back. The tub suddenly curves in a lot. Photoshop. They probably tried to scoop out her back to make it look like her stomach was sticking out more.

I have no problem with her using a surrogate. I’m jealous. I totally would have. Also, I gained 30 lbs with twins, I started at 120lbs, and didn’t try to eat healthy at all. So I totally believe someone could only gain 13 with one.

      • Tessa says:

        Oh yes! Good spot
Why don’t these people employ somebody who can actually use photoshop properly?

      • Tessa says:

Also your belly button doesn’t pop out until your belly is really big. Hers is weird and her bump is tiny

      • Dani says:

it could be that her tub is curved for seats/reclining because it looks like a massive jaccuzi. The curve is too perfect to be an accidental photoshop mishap. Also, Tessa, my belly button popped out at 5 months. I wasn’t that big. It never went down 🙁 now it just…hangs out.

      • Chelly says:

I believe she carried her daughter. Her sister posted a few videos accompanying her to her drs appointments showing the baby on the sonogram monitor. It looks 100% legit. Besides, she isnt a Beyonce, if she went via surrogate both she & Ice would publically admit to it…theres no shame & they’re open books. Always have been

      • Colette says:

There are videos of her pregnant. If she was going to fake a pregnancy why not gain thirty or forty lbs and have fun eating in the process.

    • Joaneu says:

A mother’s weight gain in not a significant factor in the development of a healthy fetus. What matters is that the placenta is supplying enough nutrients. If anything, most good nutrients will go towards the fetus and leave the mother with less, which is why it is advised that a mother take a supplemental vitamin.
I think it’s in our subconscious to eat *for* the baby when in fact we (as women) can keep our ordinary eating habits throughout a pregnancy. I was actually advised that I could lose weight during one of my pregnancies, which I did not. 🙂

Baby Chanel is so cute, especially with her daddy-like dimples.

    • Merritt says:

My mom gained 12 pounds with me. I am her third and youngest child. But she also only gained about 18 pounds with my older sisters. That is just how some women are.

    • Arock says:

It’s totally possible. Both kids were born at 6.4/6.7 lbs, healthy, full term, gained around 15 with both. Didn’t excersise more than my usual or stress out, everyone is different. I will say though, it was a rough last term because they sat so deep on my internal organs- like almost had to buy adult diapers-deep. I was a human sieve.
      And omg those dimples….so squish!!

    • Yeses says:

I gained 13 lbs with kid #1 and 15lbs with kid #2 and my kids were 8.7 and 8.8 lbs…I’m 5’10”, you could barely tell I was pregnant and I didn’t need to even buy maternity clothing ( which was a bummer since I really wanted to wear them), I went in to deliver and walked out the day after in my regular clothes, it happens, some women gain less weight, and bounce back quickly.

      • Lucky says:

        Effffff youuuuu.

Just kidding 😉 just Jealous over here 😉

      • stephanie says:

All of you really need to stop bragging about your weight gain. Does it make you better than women who gained more? Smh

      • Regina Phelange says:

I gained two pounds and actually my stomach caved in – I delivered with a sneeze and my baby is six months old now, running marathons and speaking french.

      • LAR says:

Stephanie, Kaiser did ask if we believe the 13 lbs thing, so people are responding with their own experience backing up the possibility that she didn’t put on a lot of weight and had a healthy, non-pillow, pregnancy. Some people don’t gain a lot naturally and others of us couldn’t put on weight for reasons like gestational diabetes.

      • G says:

Yeah I’m super jealous of that. My kids were 9.9lbs and 8.5lbs and I’m 5’9. I gained almost 70lbs both times. I was a rail size 5 and looked great after the first one. First time having curves and boobies. LOL!! The second one wasn’t as kind and took almost a year for my body to fully recover. I’m at a comfy size 9 now.

    • SusanneToo says:

I gained 14 pounds – from 90 to 104 – to produce an 8.1 pound baby. And she was 2 weeks overdue. And perfectly healthy. I never had food cravings except for grape juice over crushed ice. My mother was the same – I have a picture of her taken two weeks before I was born and you can’t tell she’s pregnant.

    • SJCASTAG says:

+1 here too. I gained 10 lbs with my daughter; she was born weighing 8lbs, 1 oz. For my son, I gained about 10 lbs as well. He was born 3 weeks early, weighing 7 lbs, 3 oz. With my first pregnancy, I had severe morning sickness and then my gallbladder crapped out (common side effect with pregnancy), and I had to go on a fat-free diet to avoid gallbladder attacks. With the second pregnancy, I had gestational diabetes and had to go on a special diet (and no sugar). Both of my kids were healthy.

    • Sisi says:

like she says: she also lost muscle weight because she stopped lifting, and that weight became other things than muscles because the number on the scale remained steady. What she says sounds very believable.

I have not had a pregnancy, but when I stopped working out, I lost weight but gained a clothing size, because I gained in volume.

    • Rocy says:

With first child I gained only 11 pounds and 2nd child only 7 pounds , both babys very healthy, now 11 and 9 yrs old..

    • cleak says:

It sounds to me that she isn’t saying that 13 lbs was the extent of her total pregnancy weight gain just the total she was up from her pre-pregnancy weight. It sounds like she is saying that she lost 10 lbs early on, regained it and an additional 13 lbs and that sounds totally plausible and not unhealthy at all. I lost 15 lbs my first trimester and gained it back plus an additional 10 . So my total gain was 10 lbs with a 7lb 3oz baby, using that same logic.

    • Yeses says:

@stephanie Just to be clear, my story was not bragging, it was a statement of fact that you can gain very little weight, and not show and still go on to have a healthy baby in response to what Elle posted.

FYI, It would make you very happy to know that the thinnest I have been in my life is during my pregnancies, after kid #2 who was a CS I gained umm some 50+ lbs which 17 years later am still “trying to lose”.

    • Bridget says:

It really depends on what she weighed before she got pregnant.

    • blue banana says:

I gained 7 lbs with my first, and 13 lbs with my 2nd. When I get pregnant, i lose regular person weight and gain normal baby weight. Somehow i lose all my mindless bad eating habits and of course the alcohol calories are gone. So while I gained 7 lbs in pregnancy, i had the baby and lost 22. First baby weighed 8 lb, 2nd weighed 9.5 lbs. it’s possible.

  2. Reine_Didon says:

Naming your baby Chanel, your dog Gucci or Dolce won’t make you chic or a fashionista. It’s pitiful and stupid !

    • bellenola says:

      IKR? +1

    • Santia says:

While I would normally agree, I think that she was playing off her (nick)name Coco; so it’s Coco and Chanel. I think it’s kind of cute.

    • Pumpkin Pie says:

Why pitiful and stupid? How patronizing. Chanel is quite a popular girl’s name. Does pitiful and stupid apply to ALL people who named their daughter Chanel?

      • AlmondJoy says:

Thank you Pumpkin. But hey, another day, another rude and stuck up person on CB. I’ve gotten used to it.

My parents gave me the same name as Ice and Coco’s baby and they are FAR from stupid or pitiful. You could learn alot from them, Reine and Belle. Kindest couple you’ll ever meet.

      • Naddie says:

I think it was clear that she’s being specific about Coco Austin.

  3. jamie says:

I believe her. They are my favorite couple forever, it will be interesting to watch her raise this precious girl!

    • Laura says:

Seriously. I believe her and am loving all of the pictures. Keep them coming Coco! Happy and healthy wishes go out to the family.

    • Dawn says:

Naw…she carried this baby. If they were using a surrogate I think Ice would have put it out there. She is just in incredible shape and really does work out. What a cute baby they made! And I say this honestly as I am not a baby gusher! Their little girl is a doll.

    • pinetree13 says:

I believe her but I don’t think she ate healthy…I think she overly restricted her food. Com’on, 5 lbs 7 oz is under the low birth weight cut off of 5 pounds 11 oz. Maybe there were other factors but they say you are supposed to gain around 25 lbs at least and she didn’t and her baby had low birth weight. It’s concerning. A healthy 37 week old should weigh 6 lbs plus.

  4. NewWester says:

That sound you hear is Kim K screaming at finding out Coco only gained 13 pounds while pregnant.

  5. Bonnie says:

I would take Coco any day over any other reality star! Lo ve her and Ice-T, and their little cutiepie baby. She is a doll, so what if she is proud and posting pics on media? I did the same thing? Harmless and at they aren’t Kardashians!!!!!

  6. Nev says:

I really enjoyed their show and found her to be so entertaining. Yayyyy Coco!!!!

  7. Fluff says:

137lb isn’t exactly skinny though. Being larger to begin with may have meant she didn’t need to gain much weight.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yeah, she’s a real whale. *eye roll*

    • V4Real says:

I think that’s because she carried all the weight in that unbelievable ass.

    • SJCASTAG says:

137 is heavy?! For real? Jesus Christ. I would kill to be 137 lbs again!

    • lizzie says:

      Fluff….you are silly.

    • Kitten says:

She’s muscular as hell and muscle weighs more than fat so let’s not live and die by the arbitrary number on a scale, please.

      • I Choose Me says:

        Thank you!

And what’s what with all the naysayers? Haven’t we established by now that different people carry weight differently based on height and genetics, pregnant or not?

    • kcarp says:

I think she weighs more than 137, and she isn’t fat at all. She seems muscular and big boned. 137 is larger by Hollywood standards where the skin and bones look is the norm but for
      “real” women 137 is great.

    • La princesita says:

are you serious? really if you think 137 lbs is overweight I don’t want to know what is for you a healhty weight!

    • V4Real says:

Coco is in no shape or form fat (only in the modeling world). And I know the OP didn’t say she was fat. She said she wasn’t skinny. But let’s not forget she is only 5’2. She’s a curvy girl with a fantastic shape. Though I wouldn’t say she is muscular but toned.

    • Robin says:

She weighs more than 137 pounds.

    • stephanie says:

I agree with you fluff. 137 pounds is not skinny. Better to be 110-120 pounds max.

      • Jay says:

Trolls are out in full force today!

      • korra says:

This is a dumb comment stephanie. I’d be underweight if I did that. So no it’s not better.

      • Gabrielle says:

I started out at 110 5’4″ (slightly underweight) and gained 35 lbs. My max at 9 months was 145 lbs. (there are people who weigh 145 all the time). But is was really dramatic for my frame and people kept asking if I was having twins. i wanted to knock a bitch out. My doctor said I’d gained too much but a nurse told me I had to gain that much since I started out underweight. My baby was 8 lbs.
But I lost it all by 3 months post baby, was back in my normal clothes. I don’t expect anyone could have asked for better.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

What if you’re six feet tall?

    • I agree. I’m 5’4 and my OB told me I should only gain between 25-30 lbs during my pregnancy and I started out underweight as a result of severe morning (all day) sickness I was 135 when I gave birth after a 27 lb weight gain. I doubt it was recommended that Coco put on much more than 15 lbs.

    • Veronica says:

Where does 137lbs imply fat? At my thinnest and most fit, I was 150lbs and 5’7″. If I’d lost 13 more pounds, I’d have been showing ribs. Not every woman is built to be model thin. Boobs, hips, muscle, and just general height take up plenty of weight on their own. This is why the BMI drives me up the wall – it tells you NOTHING about a person’s actual health. Some women look great 137 pounds. Some are fat. And some are sickly thin. It depends on a load of other factors as to whether it’s healthy.

Beyond that, I can assure you that as somebody who works in the medical field, MANY of those women are fudging their actual weight numbers.

  8. Nicolette says:

    Those dimples! Adorable.

  9. Workdog says:

My daughter is 5’10-1/2 and gained 20 lbs. Baby was 8 lbs and she was her preweight in 2 weeks. Ate well, did yoga, walked, sometimes genetics works…sometimes it doesn’t. I think Kim K is one for troublesome carries.

It wasn’t her goal to be back that quickly; it worked out that way. She did have a c-section after 30 hrs of back labor…so I guess feeling sorta like yourself is good.:-)

  10. Lindy79 says:

I don’t know a huge amount about them but she always seemed and looked very into fitness and the gym etc so I’d believe she didn’t put on a huge amount of weight and will bounce back fairly quickly.

  11. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Coco looks really pretty with her hair up. I never noticed how delicate her features were before because of that big mane of blonde.

    • Kitten says:

She looks beautiful in that pic.

That being said, I just can’t with someone who has an IG account for their baby. It’s her child and her choice of course but I don’t understand that and never will.

    • Ankhel says:

Softer makeup and hair is very flattering on her, not to mention she looks younger like that. Many say she must be older than stated, but that whole knockoff Barbie look she loves makes everybody past 26-28 look fortysomething.

  12. Naddie says:

She looks bizarre. And the child is lovely.

  13. Regina Phelange says:

I believe her and yay for her saying she weighs 137! 110 is like the Hollywood magic weight claim.

  14. kri says:

I have to say, I watched a couple episodes of their show and she is really a serious weight lifter. I watched her workout routine and she’s not messing around. I think hatching a human is different for everyone, so yes, 13 lbs. is definitely possible. Just depends on the person. I wish them health and blessings.

  15. PumpkinSpice says:

That baby is precious. She is so beautiful. I know some people are slamming Coco, but that is not fair. Let her love her baby. Some people post photos of their baby nonstop on social media, but that is OK because they are not famous? And yes her body seemed to bounce right back after the birth, so of course, some people are claiming they used a surrogate. My sister is naturally tiny, and in shape when she got preggers, and she carried small and had her body back in a weeks time too. I say let them be happy. I am so sick of all the flack they are getting for nothing. But the Kartrashians named their kid Saint, and she uses everything as a media ploy, and is getting less flack then Coco.

  16. TT says:

I ended up losing weight when I had my daughter because I was so damn sick all the time, so I believe her!

  17. PumpkinSpice says:

Oh and I also don’t believe she used a surrogate because in pics of her tiny bump, you can see her birth marks on her stomach. They are very light, and on the side of her belly.

    • tracking says:

Yes, clearly visible. Even if 3 weeks early, she was small and her baby was small. Not surprising she gained little weight.

    • V4Real says:

I don’t believe it either. That’s a bunch of hog wash. She carried her baby and she looked good doing it.

  18. The Original Mia says:

I believe her. My mom barely looked pregnant when she had me.

I’m so happy for her & Ice-T. Little Chanel is adorable.

  19. Murphy says:

Yeah this doesn’t help the surrogate rumor.

But either way, she’s a really cute baby and she looks a lot like Ice

  20. Candy says:

Yay to coco. I like her

  21. Lorelei says:

I saw my best friend’s sister in law 3 weeks before she gave birth (at full term) and except for the bump she did not look pregnant at all. No visible weight gain whatsoever anywhere (face, arms, legs etc) so I would assume a maximum 10-12 pound weight gain including the baby’s weight
But, before the pregnancy she was an extremly fit vegetarian who did not eat sugar, any kind of processed foods or drank alcohol.

  22. snowflake says:

Can we have coco take the place of kk posts? Pretty pretty please. 🙂

  23. Tessa says:

Also highly suspect of her saying she breast feeds as she clearly has double stack implants.

    • Little Darling says:

You can absolutely nurse with huge implants. It’s the breast reductions that usually affect the milk. (I’m a doula and lactation educator).

      • pf says:

Definitely agree w/Little Darling. Breast reductions can literally cut off the milk ducts, while that’s so not true for implants.

    • justme says:

Um you can have breast implants and still be able to breastfeed

  24. Kip says:

For mothers out there with very different stories, I just want to say that I gained 40 lbs and it’s taken me nearly 2 years to lose most (def NOT ALL) of it, so 13 lbs, yeah, some people are just lucky like that. And rich.

    • Little Darling says:

I’m a fit person, and non pregnant I fall at a very natural weight and consistent size four, like I don’t have to try clothes on I’m so consistent. With my two babies I gained 70 pounds and not a pound less. I was huge like Kim K, and I am an incredibly healthy clean eater. It was just my body’s way of protecting my bundles. I lost most of the weight starting at 9 months, not any sooner, and I nursed them both. My mother gained 40 with my sister and I, and she’s TINY and didn’t nurse. My sister, who was much larger (plus size) only gained 25 and had 9 pound babies.

As a doula I see it all. I see women give birth and shrink back almost immediately, in fact I rarely see women who gain like I did, but that’s my story.

      (:

      • Eden75 says:

I knew there were others out there! Huge preggo monster here too. However, I am built like KK and Coco (without any surgery, who pays for an ass this big????). All of my friends who have had kids could tell stories from both ends, from one who lost weight from illness although the baby was healthy when he was born to me on the opposite end. It’s different for all of us.

    • SloaneY says:

You go girl! I am 5’1 and gained 43 lbs with mine and I only ate an additional maybe 300 calories a day. It took me at least a year to get within 10 lbs of pre-pregnancy weight. Everyone is different.

  25. Tessa says:

I gained 18 pounds during pregnancy and 45 during toddlerhood. Oops

    • Colette says:

It’s not your fault,it’s these toddlers’ faults for not eating everything on their plates. It would be wrong for that food to go to waste.

  26. lucy2 says:

Considering she said she lost a little weight in the beginning, it makes sense.
From everyone’s stories, it seems it varies greatly from woman to woman. As long as mom and baby are happy, that’s what matters.

  27. Tiffany says:

No issue with the photos on social media. My Facebook page at this point is a yearbook for my classmates kids. And that is alright, I like seeing my friends kids a different stages of their life.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Me, too. I have a huge extended family, all spread out geographically, and I love seeing pictures of all the kids. I wouldn’t get to watch them grow up otherwise.

      • Kitten says:

But…can’t you just send a group email to family members instead of sharing baby/kid photos with 900 of your closest “friends” and followers? Or how about a private text message?

Privacy is so underrated these days. I would have been mortified if my parents were posting a bunch of photos of me as a child–let’s hope little Chanel never goes through the awkward stage that I did!

Oh well. It’s true that it’s a different era and most kids growing up nowadays are far more comfortable with social media than I am.

        *shrugs*

    • kate says:

I hate it. It’s a rare adult that doesn’t squirm with embarrassment when the family photo albums come out in mixed company, but these same people are sharing hundreds of private family pictures with complete strangers daily. It’s messed up. Don’t get me started on the freaks who think it’s fine to post naked pictures of their toddlers. If you wouldn’t put your naked ass on Instagram, what on earth makes you think it’s ok to put a child’s on there?

Your kids are not an extension of yourself. If they want to want to be on social media, they can when they’re old enough. In the meantime, post pictures of yourself and other adults who have given you permission.

There’s no excuse for it so long as group email is a thing.

  28. Pamela says:

Meh. Everyone is different. I *lost* 33 lbs while pregnant. Meaning, the number on the scale 4 days post-birth was 33 lbs less than the number on the scale the day I conceived.

At 5 months pregnant, I had a gall bladder attack. It was terrible. I had developed gall stones. The doc didn’t want to operate while I was pregnant if it could be avoided, so to manage the attacks, I ate VERY low fat. (I saw a nutritionist to make sure I didn’t put the baby in harms way). I eat a lot of healthy foods i general, but my downfall is my sweet tooth which loves chocolate, ice cream and cake. Well, nothing is as powerful in motivating will power as the threat of a gall bladder attack. I craved fruit a lot, and low sodium tomato soup. So I was eating pretty low cal.

My baby was 10 lbs, 2 ounces and healthy as can be.

When she was 6 months old, I had my gall bladder removed, was able to eat fat again, and have gained the weight back. Sometimes I wish I kept the bad gall bladder.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Ouch, you poor thing. That must have been frightening.

      • Pamela says:

It was terrifying the first time I had an attack because I didn’t know what was happening and worried something was wrong with the pregnancy. We went to the ER at 2:00am. I was 22 weeks, so the nurse at the intake desk said “As you are past 20 weeks, if they had to take the baby, they would, so we are bringing yo to Labor and Delivery.”

My husband and I were moving the next day, so I heard that and my first thought was “I can’t deliver her tonight, we are moving tomorrow and we don’t have her crib yet.” (As if THAT was the problem with having her at 22 weeks)

In hindsight, maybe they should have just said “Since you are pregnant, we are sending you to L & D so they can check on both you and the baby”——- way less scary.

Apparently, developing gall stones is not uncommon during pregnancy. It isn’t like, a major symptom, just something about being pregnant that makes your gall bladder more prone to them. Add to that the fact that is was in the middle of the night after Thanksgiving (ie huge, fat-laden meal) and the L& D nurses suspected gall stones immediately. They had to get me an u/s to confirm, and that took a little while, but they were right. Those nurses were amazing. Absolute saints,

I would Love to know her workout routine. I bet she works out hard! I believe her, its not like she’s Kim k, lol.

  30. Pandy says:

I believe her, her reasons are factual. And she is lucky, lol!! That baby is adorable. Why not celebrate and put up her pix? Isn’t that what new parents do?

  31. Jess says:

I believe her, and I actually like her and think she’s harmless, they make a cute couple and Chanel is adorable! A tiny Ice T, so cute. I went down the Coco rabbit hole last night and ended up reading her entire blog, I think she’s very open and honest and definitely carried this baby herself, if they were going to such lengths to hide a surrogate and make a fake belly I think they would have given her a bigger belly, and told her to stop posting so much on social media, she’s just in shape and got lucky with genetics! I didn’t show until I was 8 months pregnant either, I’m tall and thin and didn’t gain much weight, I also lost weight in the beginning from stopping alcohol 3 nights a week, lol. I’m not trying to brag or pat myself on the back, I know I got lucky, just trying to show it is possible to not show or gain much weight like she’s claiming.

  32. JenniferJustice says:

Coco was not a small woman to begin with so a 13 lb gain isn’t as bad as it sounds. She already had some meat on her to add to the 13 lbs. She wasn’t a skinny pregnant woman and she looks great, so good for her.

  33. knower says:

I love you Coco and Ice T but…

I am CERTAIN she used a surrogate and played it off as actually being physically pregnant. :-/

  34. vespernite says:

Everybody is different when it comes to pregnancy. I was barely 100 lbs when I became pregnant with my daughter. I gained 20 pounds and then my body and the baby stopped growing. They had me start drinking 1-2 milkshakes a day. After a week my baby and I started to gain weight again. I was 130 pounds the day she was born, she weighed 5 lbs 13 oz. I lost 15 pounds right out of the gate once i gave birth to baby and placenta. I was quickly lost the other 15 lbs within 2 months of her birth, and I was eating normally and nursing her exclusively. My body dropped the weight so rapidly I ended up with pneumonia and my OB accused me of having an eating disorder. I was pissed, I had no control over how my body would react after the baby was born or during the pregnancy.

  35. Reece says:

    That dimple! Awww
I believe her. She small irl so gaining a lot of weight would not have been good for her or baby Chanel.

You know we can actually reference mother and daughter as “Coco Chanel”???

  36. Sharon says:

I believe her. I only gained 19 lbs with my daughter and 15 lbs with my son. I came out of the hospital lighter then before I got pregnant.

  37. celtlady says:

The baby is adorable. She is loved and wanted by her parents. Who cares how many pictures they post? There are so many more important things to get worked up about. Ditto for how much she gained while preggo. Who cares? I don’t even remember how much I gained when I was expecting. Had a healthy kiddo, and that is all that I cared about.

  38. iheartgossip says:

This is going to get so good cause Dim is going to do all she can to top the ease of which CoCo has become a new mommy. And, she isn’t going to win. CoCo has real feelings; Dim’s have been botox’d and sold on the free market.

  39. Whatwhatnot says:

All your stories make me hate my obgyn. This was 17 years ago. I was 22 years old at the time with a metabolism on superfast. I was 5’8″ 135lbs pre pregnancy and I lost 5 the first trimester due to morning sickness. This guy (my obgyn) practically accused me of starving myself during my second trimester because I had “only” gained 20lbs by my 34th week and ordered me to double up on my food. So I was eating literally twice as much as I was already eating, which was already eating for 2 being that I wasn’t restricting myself in any way shape or form when it came to eating. I ended up gaining 45lbs. I thank the Lord for my metabolism because i lost the baby weight in about 6 weeks. ALL OF IT. However, when I hear these stories about how most doc seem to be ok with 20-25 lbs, i get angry that my doctor made me unnecessarily gain all that weight. I was just too young and naive to know better,.

  40. Rockin Robin says:

Those baby dimples!!! Love!! She was always very fit. I love the baby pics.

  41. Lex says:

Totally believable – look at her at full term – tiny!

I think my mum told me she left the hospital after having my oldest sister about 2kg (less than 5 pounds) heavier than her pre-pregnancy weight.

Depending on your size it can be healthy to gain anywhere from 6kg-15kg (15-35 pounds) during pregnancy – your body type/height and weight all play factors in how much is healthy. For a short woman who admitted to losing muscle and weight from not drinking, 13 pounds up from her pre-pregnancy weight sounds totally reasonable.

  42. iseepinkelefants says:

Coco looked normal. Living in Paris, obviously the French are much slimmer but even when they get pregnant, they barely gain anything. It’s all stomach. Even the Americans here stay slim. I don’t think they even have maternity clothes here (if they do I have yet to pass a shop). But then I look at American women in America and they blow up like balloons. It’s the most bizarre thing. I’m starting to think “pregnancy” in an excuse American women use to eat everything in sight. And sadly I’m starting to wonder if it’s super unhealthy habit we are just prone to. Im sure American women will take offense but I wish people could see what I mean. It really is just crazy. It has to be mindset, bad habits, and general gluttony, because there is no reason women in one country can look one way and women in another can look so different. It completely changed my expectancy of pregnancy and your body.

    • Susan says:

What the hell? You sound so judgemental and clueless to boot. I’m in Paris and just today walked past one maternity store, browsed the maternity department of a major store and saw two, very large pregnant women today.

  43. nic says:

That is DEFINITELY Ice’s baby omg, those cheeks.

  44. pinetree13 says:

I am happy for them and the baby looks beautiful. However, her comment about mentally preparing to “blow up like a whale” makes me wonder if she did restrict her diet while pregnancy. Afterall, a baby is considered (well at least at the hospitals here) to be low birth rate if they are under 5 lbs 11 oz. Her baby was 4 oz less than that. Of course it is possible she didn’t undereat and still had a low birth weight baby. I just hope no one out there sets 13 lbs as a goal to the detriment of their offspring. I read a terrible article all about how in New York there is a big problem with women constricting their diets while pregnant to avoid gaining more than 20 lbs and that it’s put some of their babies at risk.

  45. lile says:

Why do people think she’s lying?? I don’t get it. Anyone who knows anything about her knows she is an absolute fitness fanatic. She lifts weights too. With my first pregnancy I gained only 16 lbs and my son weighed 10 lbs 4 ozs when he was born. I didn’t even exercise but pretty much only ate grilled chicken and spinach every day. It is possible. People need to quit being so mean. She looks amazing and her daughter is ADORABLE! CONGRATS to the new parents!

  46. Pmnichols says:

I LOVE them. they have a great marriage. that baby is nobody’s business but theirs. Bless them all!

  47. Knitnwine says:

I am not going to lie- I love Coco – she owns her tacky personality and in her show you see she does, for all her dumb down posturing, have a good head on her shoulders. Her weight gain is totally possible. And I’m so jealous. I’m only halfway through this pregnancy and I’ve gained that.

But seriously – that little baby is adorable! And dimples just like her daddy OMG! So cute! Mazel to the happy family

  48. Ann Marie says:

I’m just not crazy about this side-by-side photo comparison and focus on her appearance immediately (a week? two weeks?) after having a baby. It seems like her focus, and the focus of the public, to the extent that there is any, should be on the addition to the family, bonding time, and rest. I resent the obsession with women’s appearance and the importance of being compliant with certain standards even immediately after putting one’s body through this nine month ordeal. This isn’t criticism of her; I just resent that anyone feels this “getting body back after baby” pressure so soon after giving birth, and, further, that we seem to eat it up.

  49. LAK says:

That dimpled smile, that tiny hand holding her finger…what a sweet baby.

  50. I Choose Me says:

That baby is adorable. I wanna smush and kiss those cheeks of hers.

  51. Abby_J says:

Like I said in the last thread about her, I lost 20 lbs with my first and 15 with my second. I am a runner and fit, but I basically had morning sickness the entirety of both of my pregnancies. Toward the end, my husband would carry around packs of graham crackers, bags of grapes or other snacks and pull them out for me to eat them at random times just to get the calories. He would joke that it was mystery food time.

Everyone’s bodies react differently to pregnancy and I don’t think 13 lbs is bad. If she ate healthy and watched her calories, it’s entirely possible.

I’m also fine with her posting as many pictures as she wants to the internet. It isn’t something I would do if I were famous but she is a new Mom just like all of us non-famous Mom’s were/are and if they are comfortable with it, that is their choice. I’d rather they post them than the media.

  52. manda says:

I love coco and ice and am so happy for them!

  53. Veronica says:

My boss’s daughter like that, too. She just got lucky that the baby carried low and didn’t have any serious hormone flux that caused water retention or increased appetite. It’s not common, though. Even the daughter admitted she was surprised because her previous pregnancies had led to far more weight gain.

  54. Barbara says:

I gained 15 pounds because I was sick within days of conceiving. I have endometriosis, and doctors told me I would never have children. I didn’t pass the dye test. I thought I was dying, but somehow the little embryo made it through my twisted and clogged fallopian tube. I lost 10 pounds right away because I couldn’t keep anything down. At the beginning of my 2nd trimester, I suddenly improved, so I went back to my routine of running. I should add that I have restless leg syndrome, which worsened with the increase of my belly. Movement was the only thing that stopped it, so I paced the floor all night. Also, as soon as I stopped moving, Junior had a gymnastics routine going, which kept me awake. He came out weighing 8 pounds 9 oz. He’s 6′ 4″ now.
