Pippa Middleton is really worried that Meghan Markle will come to her wedding

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge arrive at St Marks Englefield with Prince George and Princess Charlotte

Considering we’re only about two months away from Pippa Middleton’s wedding to the Terribly Rich James Matthews, I would assume that Pippa has already sent out the invitations? They got engaged months ago, and they set the date last year. Surely the invites have already gone out? Which is why I think it’s weird that we’re getting all of these stories about Pippa’s plot to ensure that Meghan Markle will not attend her wedding. I’m not even sure Prince Harry is invited to Pippa’s wedding, or if he would go to Pippa’s wedding even if he was invited. Still, we keep hearing about Meghan-versus-Pippa and wedding dramz and whatever. Here’s the latest:

After all the attention that Prince Harry’s girlfriend Meghan Markle got at a wedding in Jamaica last week, friends of Pippa Middleton are wondering whether she will have to enforce a ‘no ring, no bring’ rule to stop the American TV star stealing the limelight on her big day. Pippa – and her world-famous bottom – may know all about upstaging the bride (who can forget her role at her sister Kate’s wedding back in 2011), but she has no intention of letting the Suits actress do the same to her. Pippa, 33, is due to marry wealthy hedge-fund boss James Matthews in May.

When she sent out invitations, Pippa let slip to friends that she was keeping numbers down with a ‘no ring, no bring’ policy – meaning guests can only bring their partners if they are either married or engaged. However, many Royal observers expected her to make an exception for Meghan, who has been dating Harry for more than six months. But the incredible reaction to Meghan’s appearance at Tom Inskip’s wedding to Lara Hughes-Young has now cast doubt on that. Friends say that to make life easier for everyone – not least Meghan, who is busy filming a seventh series of her legal drama in Toronto – Pippa may not extend a late invitation to her.

A pal of Pippa tells me: ‘She saw how all eyes were on Meghan rather than Lara last week. The situation was also stressful for Harry. Pippa and her mother Carole wonder whether Meghan’s presence could cause a great deal of unnecessary chaos.’

Pippa and James, 41, have picked a low-key church on MP Richard Benyon’s private estate in Berkshire for their wedding, followed by a reception at the Middleton family home nearby.

Meanwhile, I am told that the Suits producers are doing everything in their power to keep Meghan as the centre of attention. They are desperate to sign her up for another series and are prepared to offer her a major pay rise. The star arrived back in Toronto last week following the Jamaica trip and went straight to the home of her best pal – stylist Jessica Mulroney – where she played the role of ‘Auntie Meg’ to Jessica’s adorable daughter Ivy.

[From The Daily Mail]

First of all, if Harry is invited and his invite is plus-one, Pippa can’t do much about him bringing Meghan if that’s what he wants. What is Pippa going to do, physically block Meghan from the wedding? Secondly, the “no ring, no bring” policy is hilarious coming from a Middleton, mostly because Kate used to go to William’s friends’ weddings in his place all the time before she got the ring. Kate’s raison d’etre in the Waity Years was ensuring she was seen with William, around William or with William’s friends. Now Meghan comes in and in less than a year, she’s already the established girlfriend with no games or drama? That must piss off the Middletons so much. As for the rest of it… yeah, Pippa has every right to want to be the center of attention at her own wedding. I do feel sorry for her to a certain extent. That being said, Pippa should know that Carole is going to be the star of the wedding. I guarantee it!

Here are some photos of Meghan back in Toronto over the weekend. I feel like she just leaves her house to go to yoga?

Prince Harry's girlfriend Meghan Markle leaves Yoga in Toronto, Canada. Currently in a extreme weather alert for the Toronto area. Meghan was doing a Hot Yoga session that lasted 1 hour and 15 minutes.

  1. Margo S. says:

Wtf is that photo of her with two phones?!?!

  2. bitchy says:

Pips doesn’t like to be compared to a beautiful woman with a career and with some spark, right? Her husband might decide that he didn’t chose well when he sees Meghan next to Pips.

    • Margo S. says:

Very good point. Pippa is so boring to me. And what is it with the Britain thinking her butt is big or whatever? Are they for real?! In the uk is her butt considered curvaceous? Um… OK England….

      • Loopy says:

That was just some usual sensationalism to give her some angle, her butt could hardly be seen, they where just trying to make fetch happen.

      • BlueBird says:

No not really. It just looked good in the dress she was wearing. It was before those fake Kardashian butts and you have to remember the UK doesn’t have the same level of obesity problems as the US.

      • notasugarhere says:

The figures around obesity are not that different.

UK 2015, 62.9% of adults were overweight or obese

US 2010, 68.8 percent of adults were overweight or obese.

      • Francesca says:

Her Producers are behind all this media frenzy.
She won’t be going to this wedding!
The Royal Family will not accept her in any shape or form.

      • HappyMom says:

@Francesca-take a breath, girl. It’s going to be fine.

      • Mel says:

In that dress it WAS “curvaceous”: it has a nice curve to it. It’s just that curvaceous isn’t really a synonym for fat or big.
I agree, though, that the whole thing about her behind was a tabloid invention.

      • Mgsota says:

I can’t understand the hype over her butt. She’s got a nice, trim, athletic figure….but to keep talking about her bum all these years later?!?! Wtf?

      • Eye rolling every day here says:

Different types of people have different physical attributes. I am unsure why this is surprising, unless you think we are all exactly the same. That probably is big for northern and Western Europe. I’m English descended and I have no behind at all (and I am happy about it).

    • Megan says:

I’m not buying this story at all. Daily Mail fan fiction.

  3. IMO says:

I know many people don’t like Pippa but she’s the only Middleton woman I like. I even think William married the wrong sister, she would make a better duchess than her sister and it looks like she has fun at charity events – unlike Kate.

    • Basi says:

      +1000000

    • Fiorella says:

Yeah I think she’s definitely fun, to be honest i don’t find her that pretty but she is always dating guys who are rich and handsome so her personality must be pretty good

    • Maria says:

I like Pippa too. I think she is the most intelligent of the three Middleton women. And she must spend a lot of time training for these marathons she does, like biking across the US climbing the Matterhorn etc.

    • LAK says:

I am entertained by Pippa. Too bad she lost her sense of humour about #pippatips tjough i understand the damage to the brand she was trying to build.

    • Mel says:

      I rather like her, too.
I wonder, though, what Carole is thinking seeing the uncanny similarity (the exact same type) between Pippa and Markle. I somehow imagine her pulling her hair out in desperation. “See?! You COULD have been a Princess Royal, too, had you played your cards right!”
      Or maybe not. 🙂

    • Original T.C. says:

Shameless Pippa fan too, well compared to the rest of her family and William 🙂

She is the only one in that family who works hard at things she enjoys. She is totally devoted to athletic endeavors with a strong looking body. She doesn’t look like she’s starving herself like Kate. She does charity work without prompting and seems to work hard and enjoy herself while at each event. She comes across at being able to do well in more than one area. Kate’s only passion and devotion in life seems to have been becoming William’s wife.

I think her butt got attention because whatever she was wearing under her bride’smaid’s dress gave her a perfectly round and sexy butt. Not being racist or stereotypical but it’s more rare to find that shape in Caucasian women than African and Latino women. I don’t know why scientifically. Because even really skinny Black women still have more rounded butts (which totally sucks when trying to fit into jeans or skirts that don’t make allowances for alternative butt shapes! LOL).

  4. Loopy says:

We always mention ‘shrinking’ celeb women, what about Pipas fiancé??? Is he feeling the stress or burden already, he looks very thin.

  5. Indira says:

Sometimes I feel sorry for Pippa and Kate. Carole taught them not to work and find a rich man to marry. Plus they’re totally dependent on her because that’s what she wants. This woman lives through her daughters.

    • Eye rolling every day here says:

Working is awful and I thank the lord for the day my husband told me I could quit. I don’t know why anyone would do it if they weren’t absolutely forced into it. But I’m poor because I don’t work, so I guess that would bother some people. I don’t care though.

      • nem says:

        +1000
the difference for the wisteria sisters is they could find interesting work like princess bea in art.
for most people working is physically and mentally exhausting, and not not money rewarding

  6. The New Classic says:

Holy crap, Pippa is ONLY 33? I thought she was late 30’s at the least…

    • Indira says:

Pippa and Kate look older than they are – sunbathing, smoking, partying etc. has its price.

      • Micki says:

I don’t mind sunbathing, smoking, parting and drinking either.
Not everyone is keen on having a halo.

      • Eye rolling every day here says:

I’m with you, Micki. Not one thing I love more in this world than sitting in the sun smoking a cigarette! I don’t drink though, but I don’t care if others do. Life was so much better before the fun police took over and started busy bodying everyone to death. I’m going to be a fine leather bag and that’s just great!

  7. Alexandria says:

I don’t think Pippa is that insecure. Maybe she is but I think she is more secure than her sister. I also don’t think Markle will grab all attention. Markle is a nice, accomplished lady but it’s not like she’s Angelina Jolie, Rihanna or Beyonce. This is just tabloids at work pitting two ladies against each other.

On that note, now I have a visual of Harry dating Angie or Rihanna and it sounds so delicious even if it’s a fling..

    • PIa says:

I thought that too re: tabloids pitting women against each other, but they refer to Pippa’s “pals” meaning someone on her team could have leaked that info.

Pippa, Meghan, the Royal family all play that PR game.

      • Eye rolling every day here says:

Um, women pit themselves against other women. It’s not rare or shocking, it is extremely commonplace.

    • minx says:

I agree with that. The cat fight narrative is so boring and dated.

    • Fiorella says:

I don’t think the point is that she’s a big celeb or even cuter than pippa– it’s that there aren’t many photos of her and Harry yet and none with her and other royals ie will and Kate

    • Mary mary says:

Rihanna and Harry? Maybe before Harry’s orange pate expansion.

Doesn’t Rihanna like dapper, good looking dudes and Harry is just kind of oatmeal next to her choices?

      • Eye rolling every day here says:

Lol like that handsome and genteel Chris Brown? Ok then 🙄

      • Mary mary says:

Hey eyeroll : I am talking about good looking, not good behaving 🙂

Rihanna dates good looking dudes. And Harry is charming, but in my honest opinion not good looking enough for her to date.

      • Alexandria says:

Nono, it’s not that Harry and Rih match looks wise. It’s just that it’s such a weird (for lack of a better word) match that you just can’t help but gawk and react. That’s why it would be delicious gossip.

  8. L84Tea says:

This reminds me of the famous Friends episode when Rachel kissed Ross the same night Monica got engaged. “You kinda stole my thunder!”

  9. Delta Juliet says:

Good God remember how much attention Pippa got at Kate’s wedding? She can deal with it.

  10. Mar says:

The Middletons are so jealous!!!! Geez

  11. seesittellsit says:

Well, apparently, Markle has already gotten what she wanted out of this: a bump-up in her career leverage. Pay rise, new season sign-up . . . that’s the real news here, not the absurdity around Pippa’s wedding. If she wants to marry Harry, though, she’ll have to give all that up. Things have changed, but not so much that Harry can marry, confer on his wife all that status, wealth, an HRH, the curtseys, the deference, etc., and NOT have her be seen to do her part to justify it all, because she’s too busy with her acting career. Patronage is what keeps the royals “relevant”. So if Harry wants to pop the question, Markle will have to decide which she wants more: the HRH or a chance to bump up her acting career. They could always wait another year, I suppose, but then she’ll be heading into her late thirties . . . interesting.

The stories around Pippa’s wedding are just clickbait. I doubt very much that this issue isn’t already settled in one direction or another. It’s a sideshow.

    • notasugarhere says:

Maxima, Letizia, Daniel, Mathilde. They all gave up successful careers willingly, Letizia’s a very high-profile one, in order to marry their royal match. Why assume that Meghan would be in crisis trying to decide between being an actress who does charity work vs. someone who gets to do charity work all the time while married to the person she loves? If she missed acting, she could do free acting workshops with kids/elders/refugees/veterans as part of her royal work.

      • perplexed says:

Maybe Markle would give up her career, but she hasn’t really given any indication as yet that she would. At present, I could see why people would lean towards the assumption that she’d prefer to keep her career.

Plus, her career does look more exciting than being in the royal family. Based on the perception of her pre-royal life of travelling and working looking far more thrilling than Kate’s current life, I can again see why people would lean towards believing it might be hard for her to willingly give up her career. Maybe if Kate had had an Instagram pre-William we would have believed it would be hard for her to give up whatever it was she did before she met William, also.

      • HappyMom says:

@Perplexed: why would she give up signs that she’s giving up her career? What would that look like? They’re not married or engaged. She’s still her own person.

      • perplexed says:

I’m not saying she should give signs that she’s giving up her career. I’m just saying I can see why people would lean towards the assumption that she’d prefer to keep her career. Personally, I would prefer to keep her career, and I don’t have her career to begin with (I’m not in acting and I’m not interested in networking at red carpet events, and yet that looks more thrilling than what Kate does).

Maybe Kate set a weird precedent for what we think a princess-in-waiting might look like however. Kate did nothing before marrying William and perhaps some of us have been sensitized to that image of a woman waiting for her prince to propose.

Royal life looks fairly boring. And vivacious women like Diana and Fergie cracked up under it. Both gave up their pre royal lives to the fullest extent and it burned them. So perhaps that also influences our perception of what Markle might be willing to give or not give up.

      • Sharon Lea says:

Perplexed – great point, some people would perceive being an actress would be more ‘fun’ than being a princess so imagine she wouldn’t want to make the trade. Or maybe some would think back to when Grace Kelly gave up acting and missed it. But these are different times and Meghan has lived a little more. Plus Harry won’t have as much pressure as Rainer or William.

      • notasugarhere says:

If she showed any signs of giving up her career or trying to move to London without a regular job? She’d be named Waity 2.0 in a heartbeat.

It doesn’t make sense to me to think she wouldn’t consider giving up her career for marriage. Many other people have had to change careers as a result of a relationship choice. It is her choice to make, but it isn’t one that she’s likely to give public info about. When you look at royals from other families (and the ones in the BRF who *work*), she’d fit right in with working hard, doing charity work, doing overseas charity visits, etc.

      • perplexed says:

I don’t think people are definitively stating that she’s not going to or going to give up her career. Obviously, only she knows what she’s going to do.

All people are pointing out is that she’ll have to make a difficult choice. Sure, other people have given up their careers for relationships — that doesn’t necessarily make the choice(s) any less difficult. I don’t necessarily think Harry made the choice any easier when he looked bored out of his mind at that wedding some weeks ago. I was inclined to believe she’d probably give everything up for Harry because the media made it sound like he was ever so in love like he’d never been before (utterly besotted) — then I saw the underwhelming wedding photos that the media tried to make sound hot, hot, hot and re-evaluated.

      • notasugarhere says:

So your opinion of photos taken when he was angry at being papped is your litmus test for the depth of the relationship? The rumored hot hot hot making out on their balcony and beach photos that ET withdrew would change your mind?

We’re all speculating here. The fact that he went on record to defend her from racist trolls? Puts this at the top of the list for his serious relationships. If he’s that invested, her choice is made easier.

      • perplexed says:

I have no litmus test for the depths of Harry’s relationships. His life is his business. Sure, I have random opinions – but in the end, this is an issue I might think about on a gossip site where opinions are solicited in a comments section, not with great frequency as if it has any bearing on my individual existence.

      • notasugarhere says:

You appeared to be making a judgement call, using one set of photos as a litmus test as to the depth of their relationship. You can see my confusion.

      • perplexed says:

I used the same set of photos as everyone else in forming an opinion on a site that actively solicits our comments. Did I think he looked bored out of his mind? Yes, I did. Do I stand by that opinion? Yes, I do. Whether this counts as a judgement call or a litmus test — I honestly have no idea. However, I don’t consider my opinion significant enough to anyone to be considered a conclusive truth that must be believed at all costs. In the end, his looking bored at a wedding is the extent of my thinking about their relationship since this is all I have to go by as a gossip reader who has no insider knowledge. I do not claim to know Harry or Meghan personally.

      • mar_time says:

Here you go perplexed photos of harry and meghan before the wedding, harry was upset because of the paps, not because he was bored

      • perplexed says:

Where are the pictures of Harry and Meghan kissing on a balcony? I believe they exist as everyone keeps talking about them, but where are they? I can’t find them.

Well, good luck to them. They’re going to need it if the paparazzi upsets him that much. It’s not like the photography is going to end anytime soon, especially if his potential future wife is as good-looking as she is.

      • Sarah says:

I have a question: since Harry is 5th in line, or something like that now, what would stop him from moving to Toronto and basing his charities out of there? I am not even sure they will last due to his wedding body language, but if they did, why couldnt he move to Canada? Seems like her life would be a LOT better and much less stressful there.

      • notasugarhere says:

Harry is a Counsellor of State, which means advisor to the monarch and someone who can substitute for them for certain official duties. It includes the monarch’s spouse and the 4 people next in line to the throne who are over 21.

As a Counsellor of State, he’s required to live in the UK. This also hampers Beatrice’s future (and maybe Eugenie’s), as she’s likely to end up a Counsellor of State during Charles’s reign.

Copying what I wrote about this on another thread.

Current Counsellors: Philip, Charles, William, Harry, Andrew.

If Charles becomes king before PGTips is 21, Beatrice becomes a Counsellor of State. His Counsellors would be Camilla, William, Harry, Andrew, Beatrice. If Andrew passes before PGTips is 21, Eugenie is added to the list. I’m sure Charles would love to remove Andrew from that list, but I don’t know if he’s legally allowed to.

      • seesittellsit says:

I haven’t “assumed” anything. Markle is still a D-list actress heading into the shady side of her 30s with one divorce already behind her. I just laid out the issues. I’ve said on other threads that in her position, I would leap for the HRH if offered. All I was pointing out is that even at this time in history . . . she can’t have both.

Mary of Denmark had an ordinary middle-class career as a real estate broker or something. It is unlikely anything in her own life would have offered her the wealth, position, and scope that a future as the Crown Princess and then Queen Consort of Denmark. And she and Frederik dated for almost four years before his mother gave her consent. She spent a year in Denmark first, too. Markle and Harry, by contrast are still “dating”. Letizia ran into considerable opposition, if I remember, and Felipe finally put his foot down, having already had to give up a model GF he really loved. Mette-Marit of Norway was a single mother-waitress with a druggie past. I don’t think she was giving up a derned thing when Haakon latched onto her . . .

FTR, I despise the Middletons and haven’t a problem with anyone sticking it to Pippa and Carole – I doubt Harry cares, either. It is, as it always is, how it looks to the public that these people care about. And if Harry isn’t ready to propose, bringing Markle to the wedding if he has been invited, would up the press pressure on him to do so. That is kind of what happened to Charles and Diana – and you know how that turned out . . .

    • mort364 says:

I love the idea of them together but let’s get real here. She is a D-list actress on a C-list show. She is from Compton, CA and has worked very hard in her life (especially through her education) to make sure she won’t stay there. Girlfriend is going to make this match. Unless he just gets tired of her, which I don’t see happening. the wedding train is coming down the track.

      • HappyMom says:

She is NOT from Compton. She’s from the San Fernando Valley and went to private schools. She went to a very exclusive and expensive college. She’s hardly from the “wrong side of the tracks.”

    • Can'tRecall says:

Ah and there we have it @perplexed. Harry didn’t look bored out of his mind in those pics. When you saw the full series it looks like Harry and Megan were ticked at being papped AGAIN after having had their privacy invaded the day before. Still play photo assumption all you like. IF Meghan were not already considering giving up her career I think she would have moved on already.

That doesn’t mean she has decided or even that they are close to an engagement BUT I do believe the reports that they have discussed their future…TOGETHER.

      • perplexed says:

I saw the full series. He still looks bored to me. That doesn’t mean that I think they’ll break up or not break up. Their relationship could go either way just like every other famous couple that has gotten together. Famous couplings don’t generally give any sense of predictability as to the course of their relationship trajectories. But my opinion on how he came across in the photos hasn’t changed.

My opinion isn’t important so I guess I don’t see why it matters that I thought that particular series of photos was underwhelming. Everyone else is playing photo assumption, including this site, so I don’t see why I can’t either. Although I don’t think I assumed they were breaking up in the next couple of weeks or that no discussion of their future together had occurred whatsoever — I simply thought he looked bored, an opinion which I don’t think is particularly controversial or offensive. And even if I loved Harry with all the depths of my being, I would nonetheless find the stage of the career she’s in currently hard to give up (even if she is C-list or D-list — hey, her Instagram life looks fun regardless) — another opinion I don’t think is particularly controversial or offensive. Saying that she has a difficult choice to make between royal life and an interesting career isn’t really an opinion that is meant as an affront to either her or Harry — it’s just life.

      • notasugarhere says:

Whatever people see or don’t see, assume or don’t in those pictures. MM has made it clear that acting is not her only interest, from her college days onward.

There are many people who would not find the royal life uninteresting. You have to deal with protocol and restrictions, but you also have a global platform to accomplish charity work that interests you.

    • imqrious2 says:

Scroll down a schooch, there’s a pic from Chi (the Italian mag that published the pics of KM) that shows H & M “spooning” in the pool and kissing.

  12. Nicole says:

I doubt any of this is true. This sounds like the usual daily fail crap.

  13. JaneDoesWork says:

I genuinely believe that pre-Meghan the Middletons really wanted Harry there to tout the royal connection and drive that nonsensical narrative that Harry and Pippa could have had some magic. But now that Meghan is in the picture, she just overshadows Pippa. Frankly, I think Meghan is far more interesting than Kate or Pippa.

  14. notasugarhere says:

I’d think it strange Harry would be invited to this wedding. He isn’t friends with the Middletons, doesn’t spend time with them, doesn’t like the Middleton treatment of his York cousins with whom he is very close, they aren’t his in-laws. More likely we’d see a quiet visit to Toronto for an Invictus Games meeting + seeing Meghan during the wedding.

It will be enough of a circus with all the other (Middleton-done?) rumors swirling around – will the kids be in wedding, is Kate Middleton single-handedly going to watch all of the guests’ children during the service, will she give a reading, will she be an attendant, etc.

    • HappyMom says:

I agree. Of course, knowing what social climbers the Middletons are, it would not be surprising if they did invite him. But I’m thinking he’ll be working on the Invictus Games in Toronto right then . . .

    • Digital Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

Part of me thinks this is all PR spin to generate interest in Pippa’s wedding. Am pretty sure that all the freebies/comps they are getting come with a free PR clause. That was certainly transparent for the comp’d shadow court xmas shoot.

    • Lady D says:

I read a theory here that she would invite Harry to her wedding, because then her and trJames could expect an invite to Harry’s palace wedding.

    • addie says:

Agreed. And didn’t Carole have it in for Harry at one point, calling him rude? I’m imagining because he rebuffed any attempts to have his life controlled by this manipulative woman. Can’t see him being invited, let alone wanting to attend. He’d be wise to be very, very busy that day. And far, far away.

  15. QQ says:

LULZ on LULZ Pippa Middleton, doesn’t want attention, wants a low key affair…listen, if ya’ll believe that i have a beautiful state of the art yet quaint Tower to sell you in London.. FFS

  16. Sarah says:

I don’t even think Harry was invited.

  17. perplexed says:

“First of all, if Harry is invited and his invite is plus-one, Pippa can’t do much about him bringing Meghan if that’s what he wants”

I think she could. I mean, it is her wedding. Just because Kate went to other people’s weddings as a non-finance in place of William (which makes William look bad, not Kate) doesn’t really mean there’s a standard way to enforce invites. People can do whatever they want when it comes to weddings. In this day and age for non-royal brides, I’ve never heard of a standardized procedure for weddings.

Maybe Pippa might appear rude (but I think that’s the worse that could happen). Harry is probably chivalrous enough to understand how brides feel about their wedding days. I could see him deciding on his own not to bring Meghan Markle. Unless you’re completely ego-free or a Taylor Swift fan, does anybody really care for an actress/movie star/pop singer showing up at their wedding? Since Markle isn’t Julia Roberts famous, I don’t know if I believe that many people outside of the paparazzi would pay such staggering attention to her though. But since paparazzi are usually the most annoying thing to deal with at these kinds of weddings, that’s where I think there could be a problem

    • Can'tRecall says:

Yep @perplexed she can revoke his invite. Short of that there is NOTHING she can do about who his +1 is. I don’t see that happening but in tumblr land rife with alt facts and alt reallity…maybe the tale is Pippa will revoke PRINCE Harry’s invite. LOL!

As to the rest of that I think Harry doesn’t really care and more likely than not he’d simply not attend. Problem (if there is one) solved.

      • perplexed says:

From what I’ve seen people do whatever they want with their weddings. People probably get offended, and some might stomp their feet, but that doesn’t necessarily stop people from executing how they actually want their weddings to go. Maybe in the 19th century there was strict protocol and manners and decorum brides and grooms followed, but nowadays that doesn’t seem to be the case. Some of this finagling is probably negotiated away from where a general audience can see what’s going on, but I don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility for a bride or groom to get what they want (although who knows if Pippa even wants this).

      • perplexed says:

Theoretically if she doesn’t want Meghan there, I don’t get why Harry would even have a plus one indicated on his invite. The whole thing seems easily resolvable by just extending an invite to Harry, and excluding the plus one, which according to wedding etiquette (if such a thing still exists) seems to be allowed. Apparently you can extend plus one invites to others and not others, and this ritual doesn’t seem to be frowned upon from what I’ve seen on wedding etiquette websites. Now that I know this, this story seems even weirder, because with the potential exclusion of the plus one on Harry’s invite, there probably is no story to talk about with respect to Meghan and Pippa.

  18. jubley says:

Lol @ celebishes thinking Harry is hot enough to be even glanced at by Riri! Dude is fugly. Period.

  19. Merritt says:

I don’t believe this story. More weird fiction from the Daily Mail.

  20. Harla Jodet says:

So does this mean her brother James can’t bring his long-time on/off girlfriend, Donna Air?

    • Lady D says:

I wonder what Donna is getting out of that relationship? I mean, I really wonder. She’s very pretty, accomplished, a great mother and seems an all-round decent person. What is the attraction in a thick-looking, lazy, spoiled, dim, and unsuccessful marshmallow maker?

      • Digital Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

So far she’s only getting face time in the society mags nothing more. I don’t think he’s ever taken her home to meet his parents and she has certainly never been papped with any of his family.

Once Pippa is married off, Carole will turn her attention on James and Donna will be gone. Only a wealthy heiress will do for him, preferably one with a title. Someone has got to fund his terrible hobby horse business ideas.

  21. Snazzy says:

My cousin had a no bring, no ring policy at his wedding. Said I couldn’t bring Mr Snazzy to his wedding (living together for many years, we’re just not into marriage) told him I respected his choices as it was his wedding, but as this was a disrespect to the both of us, if the mister couldn’t come, neither could I. He changed his tone pretty quick after that. I imagine if Pippa really wants Harry at thre wedding (and is allowinf guests to bring +1s) and Harry wants his GF there as his +1, she’ll just have to deal

  22. Bridget says:

They’re making it sound like everyone at that wedding in Jamaica turned around and gawked at Meghan while the bride aimlessly wandered around hoping for someone to notice her. She seems nice, but she’s not some crazy thunder-stealer. The only people that Meghan was the center of attention for was the lurking photographers. As for the rest of this, it sounds about as plausible as Kate volunteering to watch the children – so basically a statement so weird and out of left field, there’s actually too many things to single out as being wrong with it.

  23. Heather says:

First Kate would upstage her now Meghan…. whoever Harry marries may upstage them all. Hope Kate can handle it.

  24. perplexed says:

Didn’t Meghan decide not to go to her co-star’s wedding so as not to attract attention? I could see her doing the same for Pippa.

Now that Pippa has found her man (and it’s not Harry), I don’t really see her caring either way whether Harry shows up or not. Maybe Carole might care. But even then all of her attention seems focused on William. I’ve never gotten the impression she cares about leaving chocolates on Harry’s pillow.

    • notasugarhere says:

It was made clear by the co-star that many of his co-workers didn’t attend the wedding, many of them were not invited, etc. Not everyone is best buddies with their co-workers. They’re your co-workers, not your friends, and as such you don’t invite them to private things like weddings.

      • perplexed says:

Fair enough. I simply went by what the media was claiming.

I really don’t think she’d care either way whether she got to go to Pippa’s wedding, in all honesty. Would the rest of us? Not really. I see her feeling the same way. In that sense, I find this particular story about her not being invited a bit of a non-story. I don’t see her being particularly offended if she’s not allowed to come.

      • notasugarhere says:

I don’t think she’d care, because Harry doesn’t care about the Middletons and isn’t close to them. Him showing up at this wedding would be an anomaly. I still think a trip to Toronto at the time of the wedding is a strong option.

      • Bridget says:

I vaguely remember someone putting it out there that Meghan didn’t want to overshadow the bride and skipped the costar’S wedding, and then the costar coming back with ‘she wasn’t invited’. What ended up being the case there?

  25. Jeanne says:

If kate Kate was cool with megan I think it would be a different story but she’s not (as evidenced by laineys blind item). So no, market is not going to this wedding, if shes invited or not.

  26. Sharon Lea says:

Isn’t the real question if brother James can bring his long suffering girlfriend Donna Air? She doesn’t get invited to all Middleton events. And his two cake firms and wine business is set to close in two months. What is the deal with him and his love life??

    • notasugarhere says:

Maybe Carole wants to aim him at newly-divorced Missy Percy?

      • applapoom says:

Hahah aim him at the newly available Missy Percy. I just guffawed out loud.

Just like a modern day Jane Austen plotline.

      • Cee says:

What? She’s already divorced? Didn’t she marry a second ago? To a Van Something? Perhaps the Van Something at William’s lads ski break?

      • Sharon Lea says:

haha I thought of Jane Austen too!

      • LAK says:

Cee: yes. She was married for a hot minute to Thomas Van Straubenzee known on CB as Von Strawberry (TM the Baroness Bluhare). The same von strawberry on the lads’ ski holiday with William.

      • Maria says:

That would be marrying down for her. Isn’t she a Duke’s daughter. I always wondered why Pippa and George Percy didn’t couple up. She would have been a duchess.

      • Mary mary says:

Jane Middleton ‘”James: It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single woman in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a new husband”

    • mort364 says:

@Maria, Mama Percy shut that s**t down right after WillKat got married. I really believe Pippa was iced out by many families on that level.

      • Bridget says:

There wasn’t anything to shut down, they never dated. Pippa and Percy were always friends (she was at the Melissa Percy wedding, too).

      • notasugarhere says:

Whether or not they dated, I’m sure Carole eyed him up at the top of her list of available bachelors for Pippa.

  27. suze says:

Having no friends or acquaintances of the royal or royal adjacent British type, do their invites specify “and guest”? Or are they very careful to find out partners names and stipulate them on the invites if they are meant to be invited?

I don’t know that any royals (or Midds) would want various unknowns floating around their events.

I know a few couples who didn’t use the vague “and guest” on their invitations just to avoid that very thing. It’s sort of an upper class thing, though, in contrast to the “bring anyone you want down to the VFW for our reception and free beer ” that goes on hereabouts.

  28. Tess says:

She can’t help it if she’s hotter than both Middleton sisters!
Jokes aside, did Megan really “steal the show” at the Inskip wedding or was that just the paparazzi photos? Were guests turning to look at HER while the bride was walking down the aisle? I doubt it, it’s just paparazzi attention.

    • suze says:

I don’t think Markle was attempting any scene stealing – she was pretty low key and modestly dressed. Certainly no mugging for cameras.

I think it’s the crazed pap intrusion that surrounds Markle and Prince 2 that is the concern.

  29. Cee says:

Is Harry even attending? Also, just the Cambridges’ presence will be enough to shadow Pippa on her big day. I’m sure the Middletons will make it about the Cambridges and Carole more than anything else.

  30. loveotterly says:

The best thing she could do is befriend her. Wouldn’t the media go bananas if they were photographed getting coffee and having a chat?! They kind of look alike, she could work this to her advantage if she wanted to.

    • Alexandria says:

Omg that would be funny. It would be even funnier if Meghan (if married to Harry) collaborated with Pippa on one of her charity endeavors, without a photo op being sneaked in for the Cambridges.

  31. This is not a royal wedding she should count herself luck if Prince Harry comes with his girlfriend. Say no to his girlfriend and she could end up looking like a ??

  32. starkiller says:

Unless she’s got a second nationality that has never been revealed, Pippa’s got her panties in a twist for nothing-Americans are now barred from entering Europe!

  33. Nikki says:

The US still requires citizens from 5 Major EU countries to have a visa to enter the US. The EU has asked and then warned Baby Orange Fists to rescind the visa requirement, but he hasn’t. So they may soon require US travelers to get a visa to visit Europe. Ugh.

  34. lyla says:

does the no ring, no bring policy apply to an actual ring? cause you know, william doesn’t actually wear a wedding ring.

  35. Mildred Fierce says:

If this story isn’t tabloid fan fiction, then the Markle snub has the fingerprints of Carole Middleton all over it. Her machinations on behalf of her offspring lie somewhere between Austen character and Disney villain.

  36. perplexed says:

I kind of hope Carole likes Pippa’s fiance just to see William’s face explode.

    • notasugarhere says:

Carole will never like any of her in-laws more than she likes William. No cheese on toast and pampering for TR James Matthews, otherwise Wills (the source of their “status”) would get jealous.

  37. newmansown says:

I’m all for live and let live

But that aside if they (or at least Harry) already are upset with pap intrusion and gossip in the print news how are they going to deal with this attention for pretty much all of their for see able future?

  38. Shelley says:

I find Meghan and Pippa equally annoying. I cannot stand Meghan’s stilted acting, and well Pippa is Pippa.
The no ring, no bring sounds so ridiculous. Do people actually do this? I get not inviting children, but no girlfriends? Lol.

  39. Starlight says:

I wonder why they have chosen Englefield church over their village buckleberry church maybe size but that would not have been the case at Christmas very strange.
