Emma Watson and her boyfriend split earlier this year and she kept it quiet

To be perfectly honest, I had entirely forgotten about Emma Watson and William “Mack” Knight’s relationship. Remember when they first ‘went public’ after scoring tickets to Hamilton when no one else could, reminding me, once again, that I should have ticked the “be a celebrity” box on my aptitude tests? So when I saw their photo on Twitter and suddenly remembered they were together, I thought, “Oh, I wonder how they’re doing?” Guess that was the wrong question because it turns out, they’re dunzo. Not only are they broken up, they might have been broken up since May but we don’t know because Emma doesn’t discuss her relationships.

Emma Watson and boyfriend William “Mack” Knight have split after dating for nearly two years, Us Weekly can exclusively confirm.
A source confirms to Us that the pair went their separate ways earlier this year and were last seen together on May 25. When asked, her rep told Us, “I’m afraid I don’t comment on my client’s personal life.”

In February this year she told Vanity Fair that she no longer takes photos with fans, in order to avoid giving out “tracking data” of where she is and what she’s wearing, and explained that keeping her private life under wraps is part of the way she deals with her worldwide fame.

“I want to be consistent: I can’t talk about my boyfriend in an interview and then expect people not to take paparazzi pictures of me walking around outside my home. You can’t have it both ways,” she said. “I’ve noticed, in Hollywood, who you’re dating gets tied up into your film promotion and becomes part of the performance and the circus. I would hate anyone that I were with to feel like they were in any way part of a show or an act.”

Obviously I wasn’t too invested because I’d completely forgotten but now that I’m reminded of them, I’m a little bummed. I thought they were well matched. Plus, they seemed a little starry-eyed about each other, which is sweet. At least I think they did, that’s what the “sources” said and since the couple themselves refused to speak on the subject, that’s all I have to go on.

Emma is still on her year sabbatical from acting so there is nothing new on her IMDb page. However, rumors are still swirling about a possible Beauty and the Beast 2. Nobody asked for my thoughts but – No! I get it, the movie made a heapload of money blah blah blah but seriously, how would that look? Would Cogsworth accidently give the wrong time to another witch and the castle gets transformed again? Only this time everyone is pissed off at Cogsworth instead of scared of the Beast, which wouldn’t work because everyone is always pissed off at Cogsworth anyway. But nobody’s asking me. Emma, however, said she’s, “always thought that Belle would become a teacher and she would run the library in the castle, and open it up to the village.” Oh, well that sounds thrilling. B&B 2 is about school with a beautiful and caring teacher who sees the beauty in everyone. A lovely wish for reality but for the plot of a movie? Where’s the drama? Where’s the panic? Where’s the freakishly hot furry beast – sorry, that last bit kind of slipped out.

Oh well, maybe Emma doesn’t need another hit franchise, she’s famous enough. So famous, in fact, that a sheep in Cambridge can recognize her face from other celebrities. You know you’ve made it when…

Beauty and the Beast 2?! OMG no. You have money, now please have some self-respect!

I didn’t find the beast freakishly hot. I was creeped out the whole time. The PG beastiality was too weird for me, but I still liked the movie.

And yoooo, my girl Emma shows us every time that it is entirely possible to be a low-key celebrity. Here’s hoping she gets with Robert Pattinson, because that would be a gorgeous couple. Cedric and Hermione!!!! Omg. I’ve worked myself up.

I’ve always thought that Emma and someone like Jack O’Connor or Dev Patel would be super hot. I like her, but she is a bit lacking on the personality front (and that’s fine, she’s a low-key person) and someone like that would add interest. She does go for generic looking dudes though imo.

    • QueenB says:

She has always dated super low key guys and would never go for someone as famous as Pattinson. She is obsessed with privacy.

  3. Red Snapper says:

Everything about Emma Watson is either mediocre or lacking. If she hadn’t scored Hermione as a young child she would not be famous now.

  4. QueenB says:

The real question is: Is her career over? She hasnt done a movie since 2015! Its almost 2018.
Its not like womens careers in Hollywood take of with 30.

I’ve always wondered why she decided to remain in acting after Harry Potter. She has the money to do whatever she wants, doesn’t seem to be suited for the limelight, and doesn’t seem to like acting at all (and isn’t good at it).

      • QueenB says:

She doesnt even seem to have fun in her job. There are lots of bad actors so its not unique to her and its not even in the way of success. But she seems miserable with acting and with fame. I wouldnt be surprised if she fades out of the spot light. Good for her if she doesnt need the attention and can do something else with life before fame eats her.

    • Mia4s says:

Not sure about “over” but she certainly isn’t at the top of the list for projects she would like to be doing. Beauty and the Beast was going to be massively successful with or without her. Much like Star Wars or Marvel movies they are a boost for your visibility but a neutral on your “opening power”. That visibility can keep her working in blockbusters but to move from there to prestige projects requires a talent she has not really shown. People can talk about LaLa Land all they want but with her and Miles Teller I just don’t see it becoming the awards bait it did.

  5. JosieH says:

I always assumed her “sabbatical” was about not getting any decent film roles. Her contemporaries like Lawrence, Stone, Larson, Robbie, etc. are most certainly gobbling up all the prime roles, leaving her to do movies like The Circle (which was absolutely dreadful). I’m curious to see what becomes of her career. She has huge name recognition, enough to land studio projects for many years to come, but I don’t foresee any awards-caliber roles coming her way (there are too many better actresses out there). Will she dump the acting thing, or will she be content with a career of doing movies like Beauty and the Beast 2, 3, and 4?

    • QueenB says:

Ofc that was about her lack of roles. As if she would have turned down Oscar bait roles. I didnt like that she tried to frame it as a feminist issue. While great roles for women are indeed rare its not like she would be offered them if there were more of them.
In her generation she alreadygas fallen far behind other actresses and they dont stop making young actresses with talent.

      • Digitial Unicorn (aka Betti) says:

But she walked away from an Oscar bait role (La La Land) to make Beauty and the Beast. She will get roles but they won’t be the kind that Lawrence and Robbie are being offered. She sadly is just not a very good actress who has no range. She got away with the bad acting in the HP series as she was a child but she hasn’t grown or improved since.

    • jammypants says:

To be fair to her, she was first choice to play Emma Stone’s role in La La Land opposite Miles Teller. Quite clearly she is first choice for a lot of these high caliber roles we don’t know of, but things shift and move around. It’s the nature of the business.

  6. Joannie says:

I think she’s so pretty. I would have liked to see her and Prince Harry hook up. They’d make a nice couple. She carries herself worth so much class and sophistication.

  7. becoo says:

By her efforts with UN and such, it seems like she has great intellect and poise and a lot to offer the world but that her energy is being wasted in an arena where her talents do not lie. I suppose there are countless actresses in Hollywood who prove one can make it in Hollywood on good looks and mediocrity alone, but I wonder if she would be content with such a career. It would require a total relinquishing of the ego to admit to oneself, I’m not suited for this job, I’m in a sh***y industry rife with fame-obsessed vultures, and could actually make a difference elsewhere. I hope for that awakening for Emma!
