Do those foot peel masks work and can they be too harsh on your feet?

Amazon_FaceBrush2
I got the tubshroom, that device that’s supposed to catch more hair in your tub, a few weeks ago. My tub seems to be clogging slower than it used to, but that’s hard to quantify. It’s not like something you use and know it works right away. The thing does catch hair and it doesn’t get all rusty like the mesh drain catcher I used to have so I guess it’s working. For products I love and really recommend there’s still The Ordinary glycolic acid, I use that in the morning a few hours before I put on foundation about every other day. (I can’t remember how I decided to do it this way, but I read somewhere to go easy on the acids and let your skin recover.) Also this three serum set by Eve Hanson is excellent. I do retinol at night, also about every other day, and use either hyaluronic acid or the vitamin c+e serum in the morning. This under $11 vitamin C serum with hyaluronic acid by Tree of Life has been one of the best sellers here and so many of you swear by it. I’m trying to resist buying it but I’ll probably give in soon.

A portable mini fridge with so many uses
Amazon_MiniFridge2
At least two women I follow on Instagram have mini fridges for their skincare treatments, which is awesome and indulgent. I looked through so many mini fridges on Amazon and most all have D or F Fakespot ratings, but not this one. It’s a little pricier at about $80 but it has an A from Fakespot, 3.9 stars and 40 reviews. You could use this in your bathroom for keeping your products cold because you’re fancy like that. It would also work great in an office, rec room or guest bedroom. It has a handle and is portable with a separate electric hookup for a car or truck. People write that it’s “very quiet,” call it “ a perfect fit for my lunch and a few snacks” and say it “gets cold super fast.” Some write that it can get too cold, but overall people seem to like it.

A sheet mask to make your feet super smooth
Amazon_FootMask
I’ve never used one of these foot peel masks but I know people who swear by them. I looked through so many on Amazon and these seem to be the highest rated. They have 231 reviews, 4 stars and a B from Fakespot. I don’t like people touching my feet and so I do my own pedicures. I don’t bother sloughing off my heels at all though because I don’t really care. (I do use this Amlactin foot repair cream my mom got for me. It’s awesome!) Now I’m wondering if my feet could feel smoother and if that would make a difference in my life. This is a sheet mask bootie that comes with four pairs for your feet for $17. Reviewers call them “awesome,” “the best foot peel mask,” and “a godsend.” A couple of women with sensitive skin say they didn’t like this mask and it gave them a rash though. Let me know if you’ve used these or a different brand of foot peel and if I should try it.

An affordable medium-hold hairspray that women love
Amazon_HairSpray
So many hairsprays are sticky or have too stiff of a hold. I’ve just been trying random brands like Pantene and I haven’t found one I really yet. This medium-hold comb-through finishing mist by Nexxus has 325 reviews, 4.3 stars and an A from Fakespot. (Choose the fourth result in the list and it’s under $8.50 for 10 ounces of product.) People write that it “leaves hair soft and silky,” that it’s “a great flexible hairspray” and that even after brushing “the spray helps keep it in place, but not stiff.”

A waterproof exfoliating brush with four different heads
Amazon_FaceBrush
I’ve been looking for a decent electric facial brush and this might be just the thing. So many of the facial brushes on Amazon have fake reviews (running item through Fakespot takes the most time when I’m writing these posts), but this one has 4 stars, 67 reviews and an A from Fakespot. Women call it “great at removing dead skin,” “very affordable” and an “amazing product” that “makes my face feel so much cleaner.” One reviewer praises how it reduces acne scars. It comes with four attachments: a brush for your face, a pumice stone, a sponge and a body brush. Ooh I should just get this and use it on my feet.

12 pairs of no-show athletic socks so you won’t be searching for pairs
Amazon_Socks
Can someone please explain how I always end up with 4-5 single socks every time I do the wash? I’m always in need of new socks, particularly sporty socks for workouts, and these might just be the thing. These no-show unisex athletic socks from IDEGG have 724 reviews, 4.6 stars and an A from Fakespot. You can get 12 pairs for under $20 or 6 for $13 and they come in several different color combinations including white, black and some cute bright colors. (I would lose those so fast, I need to get the same colors.) They’re said to be an “amazing value,” “great socks” that “fit perfectly” and they’re also said to stay up and not slide at all. They come in twos sizes to fit women’s size 6 to 15.

An $8 waterproof cosmetic bag to tote and store toiletries
Amazon_CosmeticBag2
This waterproof bag by invoda is less than $8 for one or $12 for two! It has so many compartments to organize your stuff and would be so useful for traveling, the dorm or even at home for storage. It has 60 reviews, 4.4. stars and an A from Fakespot. People say it holds a lot, is “perfect for traveling and camping” and “will fit your makeup, skin care items, even hair care items.”

A huge cosmetic and skincare organizer with adjustable shelves
Amazon_CosmeticOrganizer1
I have too many products, but rather than admit that and shop less I’m looking for something that will organize them better. All my organizers are flat and only fit so much. This rotating caddy by Dreamgenius is the number one bestseller in cosmetic organizers. It comes in several different varieties with multiple adjustable compartments to fit more products horizontally in a smaller space. I want the black one, above, but it also comes in acrylic and purple versions. It’s said to be “a good product for the price” that “holds a lot of stuff” and is “really well built and easy to assemble.” (This has middling fakespot ratings but I still want it.)

I have tried the Korean foot peel from Ulta, its in a light blue pouch. It works really well! However, I reserve it for the winder months where I am in socks only because it takes about a week for the peeling to start.. but then your feet look HORRID while all the skin peels off for an additional week or so. Don’t forcefully peel the skin either, just let it fall off or use a pumice stone in the shower to gently rub away the dead skin.

I run and workout a lot so I get calluses and blisters from some of my more intense races or workouts. These foot peels get rid of all of that surface damage quickly.

I’ve used the Boscia baby soft foot peel, and it works great, especially if you soak your feet before putting on the booties. Ordered from Sephora.

I almost got a foot peel on Amazon that was recommended by a friend, but saw in reviews that people were saying the product changed, had different packaging than it originally had, and no longer worked. I just don’t trust beauty products on Amazon.

  2. Harryg says:

I hate that I love Amazon.
I got the Tubshroom too, and it’s awesome!

  3. Kealeen says:

Can vouch for The Ordinary glycolic acid toner (especially for the price!), and the invoda bag (it really is great for traveling)..

  4. ShanE says:

I’ve used the foot mask from Bath & Body Works. My mother and I both love it. It takes about four days for my feet to start peeling and they look bad for a couple of days, but it’s worth it.

  5. (TheOG)@Jan90067 says:

I think I’ve tried everything, incl. that Amopé thingy (waste of money). I can tell you the ONE thing has made my feet baby smooth: vaseline. I schmear on a glob on my heels, pads of my feet, and even around the cuticles of my toenails. Then I put on my Costco tube socks, put my feet up for 30-60 min. (even better if you can leave it on overnight!), and when I pull off the socks, my feet are AMAZING! The heat from being in socks works the vaseline into the dry skin and really moisturizes!

I do this 2-3 times a week when I’m sitting around having coffee and reading Celebitchy in the mornings, and my feet are ready for a day of sandals! (In fact, I have it on right now 😊 )

    • Anners says:

Co-sign Vaseline. I’ve also had really good results with O’Keefe’s Healthy Feet (works well on elbows and hands, too). Has a lot of glycerin in it, though, so be careful if heading to the airport in the not-too-distant future (she says from experience of being pulled over as a possible bomb maker. Le sigh).

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Vaseline is pretty much great for anything on the skin (an off – an ex-BF used to ‘borrow’ my vaseline for the chain on his bike). I used to use it as a moisturising face mask but stopped after it started to cause breakouts – for some skin types it can be a bit heavy.

  6. Cee says:

I have super dry feet all year long and I get calluses or just like a lot of dry skin buildup. Every time I shower I use a nail file to go over the areas with the buildup and it gets smoothed out. It’s the only thing that’s worked in terms of maintaining my feet bump-free. I also use korean feet masks every 15 days and I apply a heavy cream almost every night.
    God, I feel like Madonna.

I actually own the skincare/makeup organiser! It’s ok but it does take up a lot of space and some compartments are a weird size so I could only fit things like powders.

  7. MeghanNotMarkle says:

I tried a foot mask once it didn’t work so I never bothered trying a different brand. It’s not a huge deal for me. What I DO use on my feet is the Quench intense moisturizing stick from Jamberry. Yes, it’s an MLM but that stuff works and I’m happy to pay for it. A tiny bit goes a hell of a long way.

  8. launicaangelina says:

A favorite pastime between me and my best friend is too enjoy the drama of infomercials and commercials. 😂

  9. broodytrudy says:

Please be careful (or don’t use) facial brushes. They’re hard on your skin and depending on the bristles, can make micro tears and make your skin worse. Anything that relies on abrasive materials to exfoliate your skin should really not be used. Use an AHA or a BHA as a chemical exfoliant instead.

    • snazzy says:

Yes it’s why I stopped using facial brushes! I just found them too rough on the skin. I just make sure I clean my skin properly (with facial cleanser and a sponge that I replace regularly) instead, and I’m happy with the results.

I LOVE the mini fridge. Indulgent considering I now work from home so am 4 steps away from the kitchen … But if I still worked in an office, I’d love to get one

    • MeghanNotMarkle says:

Bingo. Any time I see someone picking up a tube of St. Ives apricot scrub I want to smack it out of their hands.

    • (TheOG)@Jan90067 says:

A good terry washcloth will work well as an exfoliant as well, no “hard” scrubbing needed.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

I’ve been using chemical exfoliants for years, the difference is pretty amazing as worked way better for me than the other types. I use a very soft face brush to gently brush over setting powder (I use Laura Mercier translucent powder and its amazing). I tried using a puff but they get pretty gross quickly.

  10. Really says:

Ordinary Glycolic acid: Too strong for my skin which is not sensitive
Invoda bag: bought several of these during a deal and there are too many compartments, I would lose my products in there and do not use.
Dream Genuis shelf: sits on bathroom counter and I’m constantly surprised it hasn’t broken yet, seems flimsy but as held up over a year. I cram it full of products.

    • MissyLynne says:

I use the Mario Badescu Glycolic toner. It’s about $12 so not crazy and it works really well. Not harsh at all.

    • Lady2Lazy says:

I tried the Ordinary Glycolic toner and it broke me out terribly. My skin was red, sensitive and I had pimples for about a week. I have combination skin. Though I do love The Ordinary Vitamin C.

On a side note, am I the only one hesitant to buy beauty products on Amazon? I have read too many articles that mention some, not all, could be counterfeit so I only shop the retailers affiliated with the brands. I have Prime, but I stick to house stuff or movies, otherwise it’s a big pass. I have Sephora, Dermstore and Skinstore. They have great sales, Dermstore offers discounts for subscriptions, and I tread carefully if I am putting stuff on my face.

      • GMonkey says:

I buy from Dermstore or Yesstyle for Korean or Japanese products. I bought Elta MD spf from Amazon and I think it was a fake because I had the worst face neck and chest rash ever. I had to go on oral steroids for it.

I like the acid peels from Makeup Artist’s Choice. I’m doing the lowest strength mandelic acid peel and I’m very gradual and conservative about it. I follow a lot of Dr. Dray’s videos on Youtube. CW: Some people recovering from eating disorders have found her videos difficult because she is extremely thin and I guess there’s some triggering issues. She gives great skincare advice and my skin has gotten so much better since following a lot of her recommendations.

  11. MellyMel says:

My skin did not like the Ordinary glycolic acid for some reason, so I use Pixi glow tonic or P50 instead. The Tony Moly foot mask (bought at Ulta) is really good and works really well. I normally use it after boot season is over.

    • Digital Unicorn says:

Sometimes it takes the skin a while to get used it to, I started off using one of their retinols mixed with a little moisturiser until my skin got used to it.

      • MellyMel says:

I use a ton of their products and my skin is used to chemical exfoliants..been using them for a few years, so I was kinda shocked that I reacted so bad. It wasn’t the normal purging.

    • Lady2Lazy says:

I like the Pixi tonic and the Thayers Rose infused toner. I also bought some reusable face wipes so I can cut down on the amount of trash. This one store on Etsy has 2 types, one smooth and the other with a little rougher texture for exfoliation. I love them and they are easy to clean. I also use them for removing make up. I also bought her kitchen sponges too which are great! You just throw everything in the wash and air dry! I bought sets for my daughter as well.

  12. Dazed and Confused says:

I have this organizer — or one very similar to it!! I love it. It really helped clear up my bathroom counter and I am more consistent now with my various and sundry products. One of my better purchases this year.

    • Oh Dazed, thanks I may get it. Have a nice little bathroom I am re-doing and going to TRY lol to get organized, but that looks like a great start to me. My bathroom looks like a combo science experiment, dated makeup counter, and well, general mess. (LOL and I do this stuff for charity and a living sometimes, and okay at it, yet my own bathroom is a mess). Yikes. Going to clean it tomorrow, Ode to Joy, not.

  13. MissyLynne says:

I have the skin care/makeup organizer. It might be slightly different because I have little compartments on the top for tiny bottles. It holds pretty much everything. It was very easy to put together. The pieces slide together and it held on with little rubber bands. It’s sturdy enough. Some of the pieces only had one hook, so the rubber bands fell right off, but there are enough to hold it together. That being said I wouldn’t try to move it off the counter without emptying it first. Overall, it’s great for what I need it for.

  14. vegasschmegas says:

I use the Amope foot scrubber (the pink one, with the really rough surface). It’s like a little belt-sander. My feet get very dry, and are dry all year long (desert life). This is the only thing that gets off the dry skin fast (you have to pay attention – you can get overly aggressive with it). Then, you have to make sure to use foot cream religiously. They had one on sale at Costco recently, with a bunch of the belt-sander replacements. I, too, hate people touching my feet, so I’m not a fan of pedicures – rather do it myself. Now that my eyes are getting worse, my self-pedicures look fine to me. 🙂

    • Lady2Lazy says:

I just bought this and am excited to use it!! I bought the rechargeable one. I also like to slather my feet with the Bliss Foot Patrol aloe leaf & peppermint. I slather it all over my feet and put on thick socks. I use so much of it, I think I should buy it in bulk. It smells wonderfully and given the heat, the peppermint is cooling.

  15. Penelop says:

Yes! Glycolic foot peel from ulta is amazing. And do it in the winter because of the peeling. Wear socks to bed as well especially if you are sleeping with someone else, it will slough off in the sheets.

A little positive side effect for me – it also got rid of a very bad toenail fungus. I had a persistent toe nail fungus for like 5 years that seemingly went away after the glycolic treatment as well. And I had tried everything, including prescriptions, and nothing worked and this foot peel did something to get rid of the fungus!!

  16. Jensies says:

I’ve used the Baby Feet foot mask, similar to those. Big thing they recommend is to soak your feet or take a bath for several days leading up to putting the mask on, then it really penetrates and works better.

  17. Sophie says:

I got my husband and I foot peels as a joke. I am a barefoot hippie with lots of calluses on my feet. I do get pedicures regularly but I don’t let them do callus removal. My husband has plantar fasciitis, so he always wears shoes. When we did the foot peel, his feet peeled off in sheets for over a week, he had to wear socks to bed to avoid shedding skin all over. My feet barely peeled, and I’m the one with sensitive skin. I wouldn’t do it again, but we were only in it for the novelty from the get go.

  18. Tiff says:

I used a foot peel treatment once and it was the grossest thing I’ve ever done. I couldn’t wear flats because my skin fell off in chunks. It was so disgusting and lasted like 2 weeks when I finally went and got a pedicure to get the extra skin removed. So I wasted more money rather than saving money which was the whole point of buying it. Do not recommend unless you want to wear socks to collect your dead skin for two weeks.

Just want to point out it wasn’t the one in this post so maybe they are different

  19. Coji says:

I’ve heard that filing down the skin on your feet may temporarily help but in the long term actually promotes the growth of tougher thicker skin.

  20. Justwastingtime says:

Omg baby feet was amazing the first time I did it..my feet peeled like crazy and my callouses were gone. Sadly the second time I did it, nada. I really think I got a bad batch as I did everything the same.
