Travis Scott filled Kylie Jenner’s home with rose petals: gross or romantic?

We’re fully into Leo Season, which means that Barack Obama is going to be extra-handsome, Shawn Mendes is going to be extra-needy and the Duchess of Sussex is going to be, just, EXTRA. Kylie Jenner is also a Leo, with an August 10th birthday. She will be turning 22, and honestly, I’ve sort of stopped worrying about her? I used to just feel sorry for her – for all of her fame and money, I never wanted her life of endless plastic surgery and inability to trust her own family. But as it turns out, Kylie is sort of… okay? Young motherhood has worked out well for her – she just seems calm and happy these days.

In advance of her birthday, Kylie’s partner Travis Scott filled her home with roses. Rose petals? I think they’re petals and the whole thing is so conspicuous and wasteful, it makes me a little bit sick. I get the “romance” argument and all of that. And sure, big gestures are nice. What’s also nice is not killing thousands of roses just to fill Kylie’s home with a blanket of rose petals. I know I’m pretty alone here, but if someone filled my house with rose petals, my reaction would be so negative: “I’m not cleaning this up, you want to do something romantic, you clean up these fakakta rose petals.”

Meanwhile, TMZ reports that Kylie will be renting out a $250-million luxury yacht for her birthday. She’s renting the yacht Tranquility for $1.2 million for a week, and I assume her family and friends will all be there too. You can see photos of the massive yacht here.

It’s not pretty at all, looks wasteful and messy. Are we sure PMK didn’t order this? Seems like something OTT that she would do for publicity.

    • Arpeggi says:

It’s wasteful and flowers grown for commerce are full of pesticides; the underpaid workers that tend to and cut them expose themselves to a lot of health issues, so all I can think about looking at those pictures is “this is all slave work”. There’s nothing romantic about it

      • Arizona says:

all I could think was that that’s a really expensive waste of flowers and God that would be such a pain in the ass to clean up. obviously she’s not cleaning them up, but I don’t see what would be romantic about this. I feel like I’d be pissed more than anything.

      • BeanieBean says:

A long time ago I saw a movie in which the main character, a young woman, was working in a rose ‘factory’; her job was removing thorns. She ended up becoming a drug mule. Wonderful, if heartbreaking, movie. But what a world we’ve come to, growing roses for export & hiring people to strip thorns–or in this case, petals–for people with more money than sense. And all the water & pesticides used? Ugh.

      • Victoria says:

@beaniebaby that movie is Maria Full of Grace

  2. CatWomen says:

She’s a good mom and I don’t know what’s up between them but they both love their daughter and that’s good. Kylie got caught up in young love and has resources and help to have the best possible outcome. These gestures are all about the moment and the pictures. I think it’s s bit much but you have the problem of what do you get somebody who needs nothing?

    • whatWHAT? says:

“I think it’s s bit much but you have the problem of what do you get somebody who needs nothing?”

how about donating the amount this cost to a women’s shelter in Kylie’s name? or to a fund for school lunches for less fortunate children? or to buy water for people in Flint? take a page from Jaden Smith’s book.

there are a lot of things you can for the person who has everything outside of making a giant (albeit somewhat pretty) mess in their foyer. but this IS the Klan we’re talking about. nothing but vulgar displays of wealth.

      • Kitten says:

I’m not wealthy but I do ok and as such, I don’t need anyone to buy me anything. For Christmas, I just select a handful of charities and ask that my family donate to them. I donate to most of these charities regularly, but it’s nice for them to get a decent chunk of change around the holidays.

But yeah, I’m sure it would never occur to these people to do something that doesn’t involve an ostentatious diplay of wealth.

      • minx says:

I tell my family I don’t need any more STUFF. I’d rather get a gift certificate for an event, a night out, something like that.

  3. Aims says:

My first thought was, it’s going to be a pain in the ass to clean up. I mean, that’s a lot. I’m actually turned off on big romantic expression. I prefer little things during the day, consideration, if you will. But I’m a Virgo and I’m modest and low key.

    • Mariettaj81 says:

I’m a Leo, so I do like excess and extravagant things, but this is just so… ugh. Now, if it were just the pool sprinkled maybe… not blanketed. But the whole damn house is just too much. These two are way too much. I get wanting to show it off, but wow. I feel like his redundancy with this soo much, Valentine’s Day, Birthday, Mother’s Day, is all the same. Do something different. He’s a rapper, maybe he should make a song for her. Or something!

    • Anners says:

Ha! My first thought was what a wasteful mess, too. Maybe it’s the Virgo in me, but I don’t have a romantic bone in my body.

  4. Snappyfish says:

I can’t even with such conspicuous waste of both roses and money.

    • Nexus says:

… and knowing someone else will be cleaning it up.

      • Lucy2 says:

Yeah I feel bad for the people who had to put it all in there, wait for her to make an Instagram video, and then probably clean it all up right away.
It’s wasteful and ridiculous to me, and it’s really a shame none of them seem interested in doing good with their money. They could help so many causes and bring attention to even more, but it’s just spend spend spend.

    • minx says:

It’s typical Kardashian excess which is why I thought PMK might be involved. Rose petals are meant to be artfully scattered, not dumped with a shovel.

    • AnnaKist says:

Some people have more dollars than sense. I just find this blatant show of disposable wealth, in a world where some people very near them struggle to feed themselves and/or their children, obscene.

  5. Ferdinand says:

LOL of course she’s going to find the gesture as romantic.

She won’t even have to clean it up, I feel sorry for her cleaning lady / staff. They’ll be the ones doing all the cleaning.

  6. Karen says:

Did she send to herself or did mommy? We never see them together.

  7. Maddy says:

    Wasteful and gross.
Also interesting that they’re still not living together and rumor has it Kylie has to share Travis with some longtime jumpoff. It’s all smoke and mirrors and over the top flower arrangements for instagram with this family.

    • ChicagoAudrey says:

      I could totally believe this.

      • Maddy says:

I’ve seen a 100+ page thread from people who follow all three of them closely and there’s so much evidence of Travis’ “cheating” and Kylie being fully aware of what’s going on. She’s a mini Khloe.

      • whatWHAT? says:

ugh, why do these women have such low self esteem that they’ll hang on SO DESPERATELY to someone who doesn’t think they’re worthy of monogamy? ESPECIALLY c-list you-never-would-have-heard-of-him-if-it-weren’t-for-the-Klan nobodies?

      • Erinn says:

I mean, there’s threads with hundreds of pages dedicated to people claiming RPatz and KStew have a secret baby together. There’s TON’s of “evidence” that Meghan and Harry are miserable together.

I take those message boards with a GIANT grain of salt – I think the bulk of it is wishful thinking.

  8. MellyMel says:

Wasteful and out of touch to be honest. I hope they pay their cleaning staff well.

  9. Valiantly Varnished says:

This actually isn’t all that romantic to me. Grand gestures like this are so generic. This could have been for anyone. Not to mention that it just looks like it would be a b*tch to wade through and clean up. They will be finding dead dry rose petal for weeks. No thanks.

    • ChillyWilly says:

I agree. Rose petals and roses in general are so uninspired and unimpressive to me. I mean, all he had to do was make a phone call. Not romantic in the least. Anyway, have a feeling Kris and Kylie arranged this themselves for Instagram. Phoney, phoney.

  10. Michael says:

I am sure her cleaning staff hates birthdays and anniversaries since they have to clean all this shot up. Also I really like these two but they are going to run out of grand features before they turn 25. A nice quiet dinner is fun too

  11. Lightpurple says:

Travis did it? Or whoever writes their lame plot lines did it? This isn’t the first or even the third time this group has been “surprised” by a carpet/wall/room/tub/bed/insert large object of voluminous amounts of roses. And the smell must be gag-inducing. The poor housekeeper

    • pandabird says:

Hahaha! Agree, Travis didn’t do it; some florist did it. And I’m sure right after this photo, the staffs have to starting cleaning it up. It’s quite sad how such a grand gesture can still be so shallow and empty. Bless her heart.

  12. Harryg says:

Poor roses. Shredded to cover the floor of the House of Idiots.

  13. Kitten says:

Rich people are so f*cking weird, man.

  14. Case says:

This entire family goes nuts with flowers. It’s so wasteful. That said, I like Kylie better than most of the Kardashians and think she’s cute with Travis.

    • Erinn says:

Agreed. Part of me was like “wow. that’s sort of pretty” but the pain in the ass that it would be to clean up makes it not worth it, I guess. I’m not into huge gestures or anything, but for a moment, I found this really really pretty despite how wasteful it is. That said – maybe the flowers were less than perfect enough to sell? At least that wouldn’t be SO bad.

I think they’re cute together too.

      • Arizona says:

that was my thought too. also how expensive it would be to do that, but obviously they have the money to do so. I think Travis and Kylie are cute too. they seem like they both love their daughter, and Kylie seems like she’s a good mom.

  15. Ann says:

So wasteful! I’m with you Kaiser. I would not be happy to walk into something like this. I don’t like the Kardashian/Jenner taste in flowers at all. Those huge flower walls Kanye has done for Kim… what’s the point? I know they strive to be unique and whatnot, but this is some nonsense.

& holy cow all the lucite. Tacky AF!

  16. LadyT says:

I deliberately know next to nothing about these people and plan to keep it that way. More people should do the same. A glance at the header picture was more than enough.

  17. Cee says:

Such a waste of time and petals.

  18. Tonya says:

This is a fake influencer post with a fake backstory.

  19. Rosewater says:

Wasteful and quite frankly, kind of tacky.

  20. RoyalBlue says:

This is absolutely horrific I am beside myself with anguish. Plant a hundred rose bushes for her if you like and admire them as they bloom and notice the increase in the bee population when you do so. but don’t just take the petals and dump then on the floor. Nah. Nothing romantic about that at all. These over the top displays of affection are all for show. And we all know Kris put her assistants up to this.

    • ME says:

Where is her sister Kourtney “save the planet” Kardashian lol? She preaches about the environment and not being wasteful and yet her family continues to do just that.

    • whatWHAT? says:

“Plant a hundred rose bushes for her if you like and admire them as they bloom and notice the increase in the bee population when you do so.”

now THAT is a GREAT idea. and one that this gaggle of idiots would NEVER have thought of.

    • Kitten says:

YES!!! Now THAT’S an idea I can get behind.

  21. Molly says:

    Tax the riiiiiich.

  22. ME says:

He wrote “love you” instead of “I love you” which I always find odd.

Also, for Travis’s birthday back in April, Kyile paid for a billboard that had a pic of her and Stormi and it read “Happy birthday daddy”. It was in West Hollywood I believe. This family is insane. They have money they earned by doing VERY little so they spend it just as quickly.

  23. Jules says:

He’s really overcompensating for something, huh?

  24. Scarlett says:

I am a Taurus and romantic…and I find the whole rose petal gesture to be incredibly tacky. Looks like a whole lot of overcompensating going on……

  25. BayTampaBay says:

I have really tried but I cannot find any interest in the Kardashian bunch.

  26. Lynne says:

If we see the roses and yacht on the show later they are filming and E channel paid for it.

  27. Jb says:

Just spent half hour talking to my insurance trying to confirm my needed lab work will be covered for a lifelong auto immune illness and I still couldn’t get a Yes well cover it! God what I would do with that kind of money…and I know I’m so fortunate to actually have insurance!!! The real rich live on another planet

  28. Fluffy Princess says:

Does she have the same butt implants as Kim? They look the same from behind.

And I weep for all the roses that died for this cheesy gesture. It’s so High School Romance…and basic.

    • Kitten says:

Kim, Khloe and Kylie have all had the Brazilian butt lift surgery. It’s actually pretty incredible how drastically it can change your body and give you that hourglass figure that is so coveted these days.

      • Lucy2 says:

I saw someone in person with the same surgery not too long ago, it looks just so bizarre and obvious!

    • whatWHAT? says:

      her butt looks completely ridiculous.

it’s like, it starts in the right place but then ends halfway down her thigh.

      • Fluffy Princess says:

@whatWHAT? — Okay THANK YOU. It totally ends halfway down her thigh. The proportion is all wrong and does look ridiculous. I wonder what all that is gonna look like in 20 years. . .

  29. Bellah says:

I can tell you from experience that doing this with real flower petals (on a much smaller scale of course….more like a trail scattered prettily about) is romantic until you realize that stepping or laying on the petals bruises them and you now have brightly hued stains. All over the fecking place…on the floor and the bed! 🤦‍♀️

    Use faux petals instead.

  30. styla says:

I get the backlash… I really do. It seems so lavish to the point of not even meaning anything.

But you… you reading this right now… may not be as rich as Kylie but compared to at least 90% of the world’s population, you ARE. What have you done about anything in the world? There’s your answer as to why things like this happen. A complete lack of perspective. On their part and ours.

    • Kitten says:

I reduce my carbon footprint. I do a running commute to work, walk everywhere, and *maybe* use my 18-year-old hand-me-down car once a week to do errands. I work with various local cat shelters and raise money for them, donate when a cat needs surgery etc.
I support small businesses–just today I bought several handmade catnip toys from a young woman who struggles to get by. I help out my friends and family any time they ask. I go to protests, sign petitions, and call my reps when I see an injustice. I vote.
I do PLENTY, as do most middle-class people; as do many poor people who are struggling just to pay their rent and bills.

So yeah, this really isn’t about US. It’s about excessive wealth being concentrated in the hands of a small minority. It’s been normalized in this country for so long that people like you continue to trot out false equivalencies in order to minimize the shameless excessive wealth of the 1%. Because the rest of us lack not only the wealth, but the connections, the resources, the platform that these people do to make REAL, IMPACTFUL change.

Yet still we do the best that we can, which is FAR more than this family does.

  31. Marianne says:

Definitely excessive and wasteful…but they have the means to pay for it/clean it up. That being said…it doesnt even look that nice. Some sprinkled would look nice…but entirely covered with it…eh.

  32. Shannon says:

Ugh. It doesn’t even look pretty to me, it reminds me of that scene from The Shining where blood comes spilling out everywhere lol. And the mess would make me nuts even if I knew I wouldn’t be the one cleaning it up. I just don’t see the point. That being said, Kylie is probably the Kardashian I can tolerate the most.

  33. Lisa says:

I would be annoyed if someone did that. I would prefer a plant or a donation to a charity in my name.

  34. Fern says:

They are fueling the flower industry – single handedly.

  35. serena says:

Indeed, I feel sorry for the people who had to clean up all of that.
