I think Jane Austen is one of the most relatable writers for teens if it is taught well. My 13 year old son’s teacher must be doing something right because he asked if he could watch the episodes as he reads it in class. His 10 year old brother got hooked up and we end up discussing what is pride and prejudice in the context of the story, we chat about crushes and love etc.
I hate animal prints. I don’t know why but a Cheetah printed jacket or leggings look so cheap to me.

I don’t like animal prints either. Stitch fix recently sent me a great sweater that I really loved, except for the cheetah print fabric that it was made out of. Back it went.

Meh. He’s handsome and definitely model material, but I don’t know, he’s just a little too pretty for me? Let me be vain here but if I was dating him and we were strolling along as a couple, I would be overly jealous that people would be looking at him and NOT me. Just saying that’s how I roll…
I dated a Versace runway model when I was younger and still living in Spain. We would walk down the street together and people would literally stop in their tracks and gape at him. It was funny at first but eventually got annoying.
Fortunately, I am formidable and it didn’t ruin my own self confidence but I could see how it would if a person were timid or not confident. Mind you, I am in no way the sort that makes people stop in their tracks and gape (though, to be fair, I caused two car accidents when I was in my early twenties, so there’s that…). I am a type, and if a person likes my type, then I am a dream come true for that person. But this guy was beautiful for anyone looking at him. He was truly a show-stopper.
I guess I didn’t care that people looked at him because the only person he looked at was me.

I feel like animal prints have been back for awhile now, in a big way. They are EVERYWHERE. I think they can be fun in small doses, and trashy in large ones.
I agree and I love me some leopard print. I almost always wear some sort of leopard print on most days. Whether it is a scarf, a purse, a shirt or a shirt with a touch of leopard print.

Couldn’t get past the first minute or so of Bieber’s carpool karaoke because of 1) his defensive/protective posture of crossing his arms in front of his chest; 2) he didn’t move at all to the music; 3) he didn’t look at Corden ONCE while they were singing; 4) poor James Corden was working so hard to engage Bieber in some way and Bieber was in his solitary cocoon of barely participating. Oh and the first song sucked too.

You wrote a column that recommended a book that changed my life for the better. It was 20 years ago but I still have that book (with your column article neatly tucked inside) beside my bed where it makes me smile.
That gentle kindness, that humor is what has helped so very many. I realize it is tough now but know those that you have touched are with you now.
