I didn’t care when Katy Perry said it, I don’t care when Ashton Kutcher says it. Ellen’s not a good person and is a terrible boss.

    • whatWHAT? says:

and why would they think that the way they get treated, and what they’re privvy to see as guests, would IN ANY WAY be representative of how her staff is treated?

it’s like the abusive husband who dotes on his wife and family when other people are around. “but he’s so nice and treats his family so well!”

PS – that’s why it’s so nice (?)/validating to hear from people like Brad Garrett and Lea Thompson who are like “yeah, she’s the worst”.

  2. Appalachian says:

He should stop while he’s ahead and people are still saying good things about his charity work…
Of course she wouldn’t treat him badly, she viewed him at the same level. He wasn’t perceived as someone “lesser”. He wasn’t looked at as someone who’s voice didn’t necessarily matter.

  3. SM says:

Do any of these celebrities realise their experience is different from basically the rest of the world? Of course Ellen can suck it up to celebrities, otherwise there would be no show which involves chatting to celebrities. The fact that celebrities do find their experience to be so different from her show’s underlinks just speaks to her hypocrisy.

  4. Whatever says:

The ole’ “this person is nice TO ME so that’s all that matters.”

    • Green Desert says:

Exactly. I hate this so much. Great that they’re nice to you, but SO MANY other people are coming out with very detailed examples of how poorly they were treated.

Considering the era we’re in, with people finally starting to understand systemic racism and white privilege and supremacy, it’s frustrating that so many white celebrities feel the need to defend Ellen. Especially straight white males. Please understand that women, people of color, LGBTQ people, people from other countries, and people in other marginalized groups often have different experiences. We’re not all treated the same. If that isn’t clear by now…

    • FilmTurtle says:

      Right. So infuriating.

  5. Case says:

I’m SO excited about Mulan being available on Disney+! It will be for an extra fee but I don’t mind — I was planning to see it in theaters just before COVID struck and would’ve spent more money on it that way anyway. Can’t wait.

  6. LWT00 says:

I think Ellen is asking some of these people (note how they are not her well-known BFFs, like Jennifer Aniston) to speak out on her behalf. Not that it excuses it, but I don’t think these are unprompted declarations.

    • Kate says:

I was thinking the same. They might just be speaking at a friend’s request so they can’t be accused of staying silent when said friend was in need. Glad I don’t have to be publicly accountable for my friends’ workplace behavior! Would be so awkward to find out your friend who you like is actually awful.

  7. Deanne says:

Ashton is also best friends with cult member Danny Masterson who is accused of multiple rapes, so he’s not exactly someone I’d view as a good character reference.

    • Lizzie Bathory says:

Yep. I remember there were “jokes” for years about how Ashton, Mila, Danny & Laura Prepon (also Wilmer Valderrama, I think?) were friends on That 70s Show, but Topher Grace was the odd man out & not one of the “cool kids.” Recently, I read that pre-Office Jenna Fischer did a small guest spot on That 70s Show & while she didn’t expect to talk to the show regulars (since you often don’t as a guest actor) Topher Grace sought her out after taping to say what a great a job she had done. They’re still friends to this day. That, plus Danny’s rape allegations, Danny & Laura’s ties to Scientology & Ashton’s apparent crappy behavior make me think Topher might have been left out because he was nice.

      • Deanne says:

Topher strikes me as the type who doesn’t suffer fools gladly and that group you mentioned are definitely a bunch of fools Mila, Ashton and Wilmer all have attended and performed at Scientology events to support Laura and Danny. When giving the benefit of the doubt as to who was the decent person in that group, I’ll give it to Topher every time.

      • Case says:

This is a really interesting thought. I remember hearing that about Topher and those rumors made it seem like he was standoffish, but based on what we know now about the others…maybe he was the good guy of the bunch and knew to stay away.

      • Nina says:

Wilmer has a bad track record with getting involved with very young women in the business. He was with Lindsay Lohan when she was barely legal. There were rumors they got together when she was 17 and he 24. The went public when she was 18… :/

If you are able to, pls consider donating to the Lebanese Red Cross. Hundreds are still missing, presumed dead or in critical condition, and rescue teams are overwhelmed at the moment:

  9. Hyrule Castle says:

He responded too, on that thread, and whew!

Just another vacant rich white boy pretending be woke.

  10. Nope says:

Obviously she has her favourites who probably never seen the toxic side of her or her show !

  11. Sof says:

You know who else defended Ellen? Nacho Figueras. I’ve refrained saying this because he is one of the few people who supported the Sussexes publicly from the beginning, but… he and his wife don’t have the best of images in Argentina as they are considered super thirsty.

    • Lucy says:

I saw that and was surprised! I guess just surprised that he thought it was an issue to speak up about. I follow him for the pretty horses/people and Sussex support, in that order 😄

  12. Sam the Pink says:

Never ceases to amaze me that people cannot grasp the idea that a person might act differently depending on who they are interacting with.

To put it another way: BTK was pretty good to his own family. It was other people’s families that he had the issues with.

  13. Kate says:

Can we talk about Brian Austin Green SHADING Megan Fox on IG? She posts a pic of her and Machine Gun Kelly with the caption “Achingly Beautiful Boy…My heart is yours” – and BAG posts a pic of all 4 of his sons with the caption “Achingly Beautiful Boys…My heart is yours”. Maybe this will be a standalone post tomorrow. So much to dissect but let me be the first to rage on Megan’s behalf! She has been in a relationship with him since she was 18 (he was 30 with a 2 year old son) and has been moming to 3 boys of her own for the past 7 years. Girlfriend can have some well deserved romance now and he can take his manipulative posts and shove them!

  14. Elizabeth Rose says:

Yeah, not buying what he or any other celebrity is selling. The only celebrity I’d love to hear from is Dakota Fanning. I absolutely adore her and Ellen was awful to her so I would suspect she would not be on board the “praise Ellen” bandwagon.

  15. LaUnicaAngelina says:

That’s the kind of gossip I’m craving! Petty bullshit. 😂

  16. Susie says:

Does anybody else absolutely LOVE the yellow and pink polka dot Ensamble?!?! God! I sooo wish I could pull that off!!!!

  17. Alex says:

Didn’t Ashton also back We-Work? And I feel one other scam or shady person. Plus that weird Indian / Brown-face commercial he did. He just…only has so much good judgement.

  18. Asiyah says:

So far, it looks like the explosion in Beirut was negligence on behalf of port employees and government officials (per The Guardian’s latest article). I’m so saddened and angry!

  19. Laidbackmoneyonmymind says:

Ashton, Ashton, Ashton I wouldn’t doubt that people fawn all over you even Ellen, but this isn’t about you so take your endorsement of Ellen and go away the adults are talking here.

  20. SchadenFreudian says:

Per AGC, all of the celebrities defending Ellen (Ashton Kutcher, Katy Perry, Jay Leno, Diane Keaton, Alec Baldwin and Kevin Hart) are from the same talent agency (CAA). I wonder if they are contractually obliged to defend fellow agency talent.

    • MrsPanda says:

Great point!! Jennifer Aniston is also with CAA, her silence is interesting (perhaps she knows this isn’t the time for other privileged celebs to chime in).

      • SchadenFreudian says:

I suspect that first-tier celebrities have the power to refuse to have the requirement included in their contracts. The ones who have chimed in so far are second-tier celebrities with less capacity to negotiate out such provisions.

    • Snazzy says:

      Oh now that is interesting!!!

  21. Rachel says:

Ashton Kutcher should start crying on cue lol
