Here are some of the most notable fashion photos from last night’s BET Awards. Make no mistake, Megan Thee Stallion was “the star” of the event. She performed “Thot Sh*t” live (and it was an amazing performance, the video is below) and she picked up awards for Video of the Year (for WAP), best female hip-hop artist and the viewer’s choice award for “Savage (Remix).” For the red carpet, Megan chose this Gaultier gown which was completely “open” at the sides. Megan was really like Bajingo Out Summer. She looked great on the carpet and during her performance though!
Andra Day won a BET Award for Best Actress (for playing Billie Holiday) and she seemed very surprised to win. I don’t know what she was thinking with this pink tiered/ruffle dress though. I mean… she’s so beautiful, she could pull off almost anything. But lord, this is just a fug dress.
Ciara… I don’t know. Again, when a stylist is working with someone beautiful with a famously great body, why would you put her in this unflattering catsuit? I almost didn’t recognize her with the blonde hair either, although I think she’s kind of working that hair color. But the catsuit doesn’t work. It makes her look boxy FFS, and she’s not boxy!
I love Issa Rae but this is so bad!! OMG.
Queen Latifah won the Lifetime Achievement Award and she thanked her partner/girlfriend by name and wished everyone a happy Pride. Good for her. The ensemble is very Latifah. I like the cape.
Lil Nas X really wore toile to the BET Awards. Bless him. This was actually one of my favorite looks of the night.
Saweetie wore Dolce & Gabbana, and the train for this was like 12 feet long. I wish LA stylists would stop giving their clients D&G stuff to wear.

These are all unfortunate looks. I think people have lost their fashion sense in the pandemic. I know I have. The catsuit is the best of the bunch, and it would arguably look really good without the black belt.
I’m going to agree with you. The only look I liked was Zendaya’s and she’s not up there. Maybe she didn’t walk the red carpet? I wasn’t impressed with most of the looks in any case.
Same here, I thought these were all pretty bad except Ciara’s. The idea of a belt doesn’t bother me so much, but the 80s style of it is not the best.

I was introduced to Saweetie by her Vaxlive performance and, well, it was the living embodiment of “yes girl give us nothing.”
I kinda like Andra Day’s prom dress but I feel like there are 1000 versions of this that are so much cooler and edgier (many worn by the likes of Zendaya).
Beside the pointy shoulder thing I actually think issa’s dress is ok. Its a bit basic tho. That pink dress is ugly, sorry. The bottom looks like a table cloth.
I’m lost. I thought you meant Gaultier (as in Jean-Paul) so I had to google Gautier and all I got was a French furniture designer….it’s too early for me to have lost the plot today so I’m going back to bed. 🙂
I think Andra was going for a 180 from her Oscars dress, and this certainly was that. Megan looks amazing, but it’s the body and the way she’s wearing it. Not sure I’d like it on someone else.
i was about to say “I like Megan’s dress” but the truth is Megan’s wearing the dress, the dress is not wearing Megan. it would not look very good on many other people.
All these dresses are just breathtakingly ugly. It’s like a competition, where everyone is a winner.
I love The Queen, but the top half gives me Judge Judy vibes, and the striped socks/booties made me think of the Wicked Witch of the West lol. Don’t know why (unless it’s that I’ve been up since 4 am, and it’s only now 5 and my brain is still “on” yet lol).
Sigh… guess I’m just getting old, because I’m *so* done with beautiful woman wearing dresses and STILL looking half naked! It’s like a designer took a bolt of fabric, cut a head opening, threw it over the dress dummy and called it a day, only to realize it had to be held together on the side…so let’s go with glittery ropey stuff! Ugh.

What a performance from Megan! I enjoyed the heck out of that. I’m still laughing at “I look in the mirror, damn I don’t brag enough”. I love this.
I feel like Ciara has been done dirty her whole career. She is amazingly talented with a beautiful voice but it seems to me her albums have been managed poorly. There seems to have been a lot of people trying to contort her into a different artist or attach her to a trend when she’s so much more than that. I really like her & I think she’s phenomenal.
She definitely has never gotten the publicity others have. She’s also so gorgeous, you’d think she’d have a million endorsement deals going. Maybe she’s doing exactly what she wants though.
So exciting to see all these women. Theybe invented a whole new category. Lets call it porn couture or porn dresses.
I kind of like Saweetie and Meg’s looks? I’ve liked Megan for years and years since Tina Snow and I’m so glad to see her getting the credit and spotlight. She deserves it, not to mention she’s so beautiful! Saweetie’s look would be better without the train but I don’t hate any of these, tbh. They all look pretty. Even Issa’s dress is really cute on her.
Megan is just a absolutely stunning woman. My God.
She is beautiful and has a fantastic voice. I’m disappointed there’s no Doja Cat. I love her!

I absolutely adore Meghan on Legendary. The whole show is a joy. I can’t wait for the third season!
