Andy Cohen, as always, is shady with a smile. He put his foot in his mouth yet again earlier this week when Jerry O’Connell was a guest on Watch What Happens Live. Jerry has been a cohost on CBS’ The Talk since 2021. He was an interesting addition and it seems he was part of a larger casting overhaul after Sharon Osbourne was fired due to her racism. Andy apparently likes Jerry’s involvement on The Talk, and instead of just saying so directly, he made a joke about Jerry’s hunched posture due to “carrying the show” on his back.
Jerry O’Connell was a guest Monday on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen and found himself defending his co-workers. O’Connell became a permanent co-host of The Talk in 2021 after years of serving as both guest and guest-host. While he has thrived on the daytime talk show, Cohen claims the Stand by Me star is the only one.
“I have to say, I have been noticing all day, Jerry, because I saw you this morning too, you have been hunched over all day,” Cohen said. “And I know it’s because you are carrying The Talk on your back. Honestly. I’m sorry but CBS should quadruple your salary. There is one person carrying the show and I’m sorry but he is sitting right here because without Jerry there ain’t no show. There ain’t no show without Jerry.”
O’Connell shares hosting duties with Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Sheryl Underwood and Natalie Morales. Throughout Cohen’s rant, O’Connell adamantly denied that there was any validity to what was being said.
“We love everyone at The Talk,” said O’Connell. “I am currently employed there … Andy’s words, not mine. I love everyone.”
Of all the shady/sh-tty things Andy has ever said, this is far from the worst. He probably thought he was complimenting Jerry and throwing some snark at the show. I doubt Jerry’s cohosts would appreciate the comment, so he obviously did the right thing by not cosigning Andy’s comments, instead saying that he works there now and loves everyone. “I love everyone” is a textbook CYA statement, but I don’t doubt that he does. He probably wouldn’t mind if CBS did quadruple his salary, but who among us wouldn’t like that. I haven’t watched The Talk in a while and was honestly surprised by Jerry’s involvement. I don’t know a ton about him, but I’ve seen him in several roles and he seems so bro-y that it was an interesting career move for him to join as the first full-time male cohost.

Andy Cohen pass up an opportunity to put down women? Never! Especially not with a bonus diss of POC.
Yup
Please.
Undercover all the ISM’S.
Don’t be fooled by Andy. Ugh.
Keep it classy, Andy.
Seriously, this man is such a d*ck and I’ve been judging Anderson Cooper for years for being bffs with him. You are the company you keep. Just ask Kathy Griffin.
WORD.
And Kelly Ripa too. Mean people.
Add Sarah Jessica Parker
Ditto to all the comments here. Andy Cohen is a misogynistic tool.
Not classy with a smile as always…
Anyway, I saw jerry on Oprah around the time he first started going out with his wife, that guy is such a darling.
That’s hating-ass Andy for you. He’s such a nasty person. Unless it’s certain female “friends” and men he has nothing nice to say and of course, everything nasty to say.
Jerry was SO hot in the early 2000’s omg
Cosign!
My co-worker knew Jerry when she worked in LA and would still connect w him. He says he was desperate for a talk show gig, needed the $$$ for the lifestyle.
I like Jerry when he does hosting duties, he is just the type of person for it. He can be charming, goofy and gamed for anything. He does not act above it or like he is over it when he does it either. I think he addition to The Talk works become you can tell he likes his Co workers and likes working with them.
I was just talking about Jerry O’Connell on yesterday’s John Stamos article!
Had such a crush on him when he was on Sliders and he is fecking hilarious on Star Trek: Lower Decks now. I’ve never seen The Talk but I like that he distanced himself from Andy’s comments and I’m sure the other hosts like it too.
Star Trek: Lower Decks?! Off to google, this sounds like fun!
Jerry O’connell is the most annoying host on The Talk, he does a lot of antics to get attention, that’s the attraction for Andy Cohen because that’s his M.O.
