The Danish royal familyâs official social media accounts published these photos yesterday of Queen Margrethe, Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary and their son Prince Christian. Following Christianâs 18th birthday, he attended a State Council meeting and signed a solemn declaration to comply with the countryâs constitution.
This was the first time Fred and Mary have been seen together in days, since the news of Fredâs alleged affair with Genoveva Casanova broke last week. The news broke in the Spanish media during King Felipe and Queen Letiziaâs state visit to Denmark. It was intense – Mary put on a brave face and an âFâ necklace and then she avoided being seen with Fred for the rest of the week. It feels like the Spanish media has a lot of info about Frederik and Genovevaâs affair as well, including the fact that they met at a âbig-game huntâ for elites, and that theyâve probably been seeing each other every few months for a while. Fred and Mary have made zero public statements or denials about the alleged affair. Camilla Tominey suggested that they were adopting ânever complain, never explainâ as a strategy.
Princess Mary and Prince Frederik of Denmark are adopting Queen Elizabeth II’s ‘never explain, never complain’ mantra over the recent Mexican socialite drama, a royal journalist has claimed.
British royal reporter Camilla Tominey told Today that she believes the royal couple will not make a statement after the Danish heir to the throne, 55, was pictured by Lecturas magazine in Madrid alongside reality star Genoveva Casanova.
Divorcee Genoveva – the former daughter-in-law of the billionaire Duchess of Alba – told Hola! she ‘categorically’ refutes any suggestion the pair are romantically involved, branding the rumours ‘malicious’ and untrue.
But Ms Tominey said Princess Mary, 51, and her husband will avoid addressing the speculation – instead opting for the British Family’s unofficial motto of ‘never complain, never explain’.
She said: ‘I don’t think the royals are going to respond to it because I think they adopt the mantra of the late Queen Elizabeth of ‘never complain, never explain’. The more they address it the more they fuel the fire, I’d suggest.’
Tominey is talking out of her ass, per usual. In recent years, weâve seen many royal couples go on the record to deny certain stories – Monacoâs Prince Albert regularly speaks on the record to French, American and Monegasque outlets to confirm or deny stories, even personal stuff. Swedenâs Crown Princess Victoria and Daniel have also made statements denying rumors of marriage problems. It would be perfectly normal for Frederik and Mary to issue a joint statement or on-the-record denial. The fact that they havenât done that speaks to the veracity of the Spanish reporting, honestly.

Do they not know that people can see them? Lol. Do they think they’re so untouchable that pap pictures won’t be taken? Clownery. Tomfoolery.
When you are supported by the public financially, I think “never explain” sounds arrogant. At least the public are owed an accounting of money spent. I guess, if you are “royal” you are excused?
I don’t really feel she is obligated to discuss with the media her thoughts on her husband’s affair, no matter who is paying for his flights.
Him? He could explain I guess, but in the end what will happen? He will just continue living his life as usual.
Would he? Several on Celebitchy have commented that this type of scandal was what lead to Juan Carlos abdicating. It should, at the least, make people wonder why they are financing this BS.
There was corruption though with JC. A CP won’t be removed because of cheating.
What jumped out at me is 1. The Danish royals knew that Christian would attend his first State meeting and 2. Mary dressed to stand out. Sheâs not hiding.
This is not being followed in the NLs. After the initial reporting last week, this disappeared. The BM is keeping it alive. Some of you thought this might be their way of commenting on the BRFâŠIâm beginning to think that you are right about that.
Don’t care about the perhaps affair (because I don’t think there is any definitive proof for it), but the big game hunting?
They’re disgusting.
Same. They all sleep around (Iâve seen comments that Mary has had her own affairs) and they all understand that is going to happen. So thatâs just juicy gossip.
But unless it is for food, big game/trophy/sport hunting is sociopathic.
And the public gets to finance all of their charades.
Mary could leave him but considering her youngest kids are 12 and they both are Danish citizens/royals who have only lived in Denmark, there’s no way she can take them to Australia. Royals do divorce but crown prince/princess royals even less so and I have a feeling she will probably lobby for an agreement not unlike Melania Trump when she refused to move to the DC unless her post-nup was renegotiated. That’s probably what is happening behind the scenes.
I can see Mary either officially divorcing Frederic once the kids turn 18 but most likely the crown will lobby for her to have a Melania Trump agreement where they live separately but show up to make appearances. It’s easy for all of us to say she should leave him but marriage esp to a royal is complicated. I will say I don’t think Mary is shocked by the cheating afterall royals NOT cheating is the exception not the rule, but rather she’s angry b/c he publicly embarrassed her.
Mary is not giving up that crown. They wonât divorce or even live separate lives publicly. She has the same contract as Kate and she is fine with it.
@Megan Agreed! Mary’s last 10 years have been busy cementing her position: new post-nup, spanking new tiara, new facial dr, and exiling her nemesis brother in law to US. Fredo has been stepping out for years, including getting caught the night before the twins christening when Mar’s entire Aussie family was there. Mary made her choice at the Slip Inn in 2000 and she never looked back! Mary and Kate same women different country.
There is a blueprint for Mary to follow if she wanted a divorce. Prince Joachim and Princess Alexandra divorced a few years after Frederick and Mary’s wedding. Alexandra was extremely popular, and she was allowed to keep her princess title until she remarried. After that, she was given a countess title. She was also given funding, which she voluntarily gave up on her younger son’s 18th birthday. She still gets invited to a few royal events here and there.
I believe Mary’s father and stepmother relocated to Denmark following her wedding, with her father taking a teaching position at Aarhus University. So if she was to divorce, Mary would probably remain in Denmark and still have family nearby.
Nobody of Mary’s Aussie family lives in Denmark. Her father has moved back to Australia years ago and that’s why he hasn’t attended any of the family celebrations during the past few years. He’s too old and fragile to make the long trip to Denmark any more.
In my head, none of the royals, in Europe or the UK, have the expectation of monogamy in their marriages… just the obligation of absolute discretion. This whole debacle just says to me that there is someone briefing against Fred, for reasons, or he was not careful. I think the uber wealthy have far more relaxed rules and way more open marriages.
I think youâre right. Monogamy isnât the expectation so she wouldnât necessarily be surprised at all by this.
My guess is she’s more ticked at the lack of discretion than the actual affair; I can’t believe this is his first one.
This is what I think too. It’s the lack of discretion that will tick Mary off more than the cheating itself.
Yeah Camilla Tominey doesn’t know what she’s talking about. If they don’t issue a statement they usually agree to be interviewed outside an engagement. There hasn’t been an opportunity for the press to ask Mary or Frederick about the rumours.
This guy does not constitute an endorsement for cishet marriageâŠ..
Ladies, it saddens me to say this but NONE of us should have the expectation of monogamy lol
I can say without a shadow of doubt that my hot rod has never cheated. Then again, he runs on battery…
It’s perfectly okay to expect monogamy (or conscious non monogamy and honesty) in your relationship. It’s also perfectly okay to mutually change the terms of your agreement over time AND to not be bothered over what your life partner does with others. đ€·đŸââïž
Here, again, we have Camel Toe making comments about more people she’s never even met. Mary and Fred can be just like the British royals and think and do nothing as Camel Toe is the royal expert and she knows EVERYTHING they are thinking. Side thought – does she even know where Denmark is?
I would be embarrassed to be introduced on television as a “royal expert.” Whatever happened to royal reporter? I just realized that to be called a reporter, they would actually have to practise some form of journalism. What they do is not reporting, but writing a soap opera serial everyday. Except they use real people, instead of having to make up characters. In the end, they give experts a bad name as well. Maybe they should be called creative writers.
So they met while big game hunting. That doesn’t speak well of either of them.
These middle aged super-wealthy men can’t keep it in their pants. I think of Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos (although Lauren SĂĄnchez is now Vogue-worthy but not without a lot of well deserved grief!!) as prime examples.
Poor Mary could cut Frederik loose and be laughing all the way to the bank if he wasn’t royalty. At least she seems to roll with the punches better than Princess Charlene, although she shouldn’t have to.
To think, Princess Diana obtained a divorce from the Prince of Wales back in the 90’s-the Windsors were aghast, of course. Just how aghast-did they have anything to do with her death?-we will never know.
